Title: Five reasons 2018 could be the best year yet for cryptocurrencies.
Post by: 1993jochico on February 24, 2018, 08:49:05 AM
Hosp has explained before why a potential cryptocurrency bubble could burst in 2018, but there are several factors that make him see upside potential in the space.

For bitcoin, the most important cryptocurrency by his estimation, he sees a 150 percent potential upside for 2018.

Taking into account several factors, the cryptocurrency market's upside potential could rise to up to seven or eight times present levels, he says.

1. The work on scaling issues
2. Large scale and more legitimate ICOs
3. Regulation
4. A lot of execution and usability
5. Institutional investors

I think this is reasonable.

Definitely, the price will uprise in the Q4 of 2018. It will just repeat the scenario during 2017 wherein the bitcoin bullish the market. But I think it will grow up more and other cryptocurrency will move up also. Let see how does the luck of cryptocurrencies for 2018 and just hope that it will hit the  high price.

That’s far from happening buddy. I don’t see any major updates regarding the work on scaling issues. We still hoping for this one since years. Many forks came out but they all did it for their greed and profits and nobody really helped bitcoin scale up. The segwit came in but branched our crazy and spreaded the community into two.

There is no reason to support the ICO here, because there are none out there who has brighter ideas any more. They all are condensed now and repeating each other to get some profits. The ICO just stands out only if the real product is avaible for the particular project.

Regulations, this is mega issue and it could turn out to be international one someday looking after its global question. Every country’s government is concerned about it because the money just flying away from one country to another without their radar. Don’t see much things happening in the favour of bitcoin though.

There could be execution and usability only if above three points are valid. This can only happen if there is really a real use of the whole thing in real world applications.

Institutional investors, ah I think there are some but what about them, how they will raise the economy eight times the current one.

I think this scenario it became a habit for Bitcoin, amazing growth in the ending of the year. In deed people are starting to realize the power of the crypto community and that is a good thing because this demonstrates that we believe in something that can be accomplished.

The fifth reason would be the best reason why 2018 could be the best year for a cryptocurrency as well as the cryptomarket though the speculations arent accurate but the institutional investments coming from different countries can really make it happen this year.

I am not sure about the reasons you have mentioned up there but do know one thing that crypto currency is on the verge of rising. It has already seen huge down slope and it is done with whatever crash it had recently. The crash was anyway replica of the year start which can also be seen for many last years! The downfall at the year start is always thought to be year ending post effect as well as Chinese new year start effect. They both squeeze the bitcoin market from both the side and hence it always falls around this one.

This will now again start rising as the post effects has ended and people are out of the hangover now! They are getting the investments back into crypto. News can be heard that many UK's stock holders are investing huge amounts of money into this and thus it can grow really big by the end of year 2018.

I don't find 3. Regulation and 5. Institutional investors for good at all.

Also, market will grow a lot slower now. I think the best year so far was 2017 and the next better year will be '19-20, but not '18.

I am not so sure about your claim and the reasons you mentioned could possibly do any good in cryptocurrency, most especially in the second reason you say. Are you sure there are more legitimate and large scale ICO coming? As what i have observed many ICO have been identified as scam and a waste of time and investment because of how they advertise their ICO in the community. Cryptocurrencies may experience a good year but not totally the best, but it could happen soon.

Well with massive regulations there could be a problem too .. we should remember that every country comes with their own regulatory points due to no single institutional body regulating everything all we could see would be chaos and that could prove to be something that might create imbalance causing massive uproar and problems instead this regulatory responsibility should be given to one centralized body otherwise I don't see how beneficial it would be.

Well, that is an amazing thing to hear and would pretty much be a great thing to believe in for people like me that is truly a crypto lover specially when it comes to bitcoins. But the thing is, all of the mentioned factors above haven't had any products yet or outcomes except institutional investors. All of those would be great if they really are going on and working. Just like (1), obviously, the scaling issues hasn't been fixed yet. 2nd is most probably very unlikely nowadays. And the 3rd one can either go with or against the cryptos. While 4th is clearly not possible yet. 5th is already happening but not as much as we want it to. So I guess, the cycle from the past years is still gonna happen for a few more years. How many depends on how fast this issues that bitcoins has gets fixed.

Vista of course there is as mentioned above, the development of technology and conducting legitimate ICO. For the development of the bitcoin and other coins.
Growth and scale is inevitable

Out of those reasons I would select #1 and #3 as the main contributors to the rise of the space this year. If we fix scaling (which seems fixed right now) the use case of Bitcoin becomes practical and we can thus legitimately use Bitcoin rather than hoarding it. Same goes for number three if regulation is done well, it will encourage the spending and usage of Bitcoin rather than hoarding, both are great positives for Bitcoin.

But I have a reason that it is not be best as 2017 because now most of the governments are trying to control or regulate the crypto currencies so we can't expect this year going to be easy for the crypto currencies and their investors,so what we need to do is hold our bitcoin I hope the bitcoin will face all the issues and strongly comeback in the future.

That's funny, I've always seen that newcomers sees regulation as a good news when earlies sees that as a bad news. I don't really understand why, maybe mindsets have changed and new users doesn't search the same purpose behind bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.

2018 began mostly badly, even if the price comes back to 20k, I dont think this will be an amazing year as 2017. Let's hope it will just be a good consolidation year :)

According to the thought of G. Zucco, which is one of the leading experts of bitcoin and blockchain, we could be between the 3rd/4th phase of Kubler-Ross model.

Bargaining
Depression

That means admitting that blockchain technology might be useful but that doesn't mean Bitcoin will be. So, many newcomer investors looking for easy profits without knowing absolutely nothing about the technology and its applications, have the feeling of having arrived too late for Bitcoin, then they are investing in any alternative altcoins including the most bizarre/unknown random projects.

While i believe these 2 points will be the pushing force this year i don't think these 3 will already boost BTC in the short term.

2. Large scale and more legitimate ICOs
3. Regulation
4. A lot of execution and usability

Regulations and big adoption will take quite a lot of time until BTC will profit.
This isn't something which is pushed within a year and instantly results in a massive bull run.
Good things need time. BTC isn't much different. When LN will be ready and usable for the every-day man there will be a rapidly(!) growing interest.
But i don't think this will happen in the next 3-4 years. Being patient is the key to success.

The year 2018 will become a lucky year for cryptocurrency and I hope I can joi  to the luck. I think that the integration of different companies are helpful way to boost the dominance of cryptocurrency in the world. Japan also joined the trend and I think it will play a vital role in innovations of cryptocurrency as well as blockchain technology. A lot of good things waiting for cryptocurrency and to us, crypto enthusiast. I hope that this will be the start of oyr future.

Those are all fantastic and perfectly valid reasons for 2018 to be a very good year for cryptocurrencies. We see a lot of people with negative point of views, without really explaining things, and we also see a lot of people focusing on the price without pointed any valid reasons for the projections they make. I actually think we will have another good year, because of all those things you said. From a technological and development point of view, bitcoin is getting better, so there is no reason to believe bitcoin price will decline, or that the "bubble" will burst or any of those stupid things people say, with no real fundamentals to support their claims.

maybe yes and maybe not. because if the view at this time. crypto growth is slowing down. and whatever reason that made all this happen, but this is not a standard. because crypto fans if we see it grow and this may be just at the beginning of the year, and do not know what will happen at the end of the year

I think number two is the one the best i choose. Becuase if ico become a legit in any country, more people accepting bitcoin.  And if more people accepting bitcoin the value of bitcoin will grow and more. Some expert say bitcoin will become 100.000 $ in december 2018. So thay good

2018 might be a good year for some of the major altcoins, but I have my doubts about the performance of Bitcoin. Two of the major things Bitcoin needs to address is transaction speeds and fees. I have read articles about many businesses that have stopped accepting Bitcoin because of how volitile the price is on a minute-by-minute basis. It makes sense to me too. There is always a risk that by the time a transaction for a product has been made and the Bitcoin subsequently traded for dollars that the value has gone down and the merchant ends up losing money. I think now more than ever what Bitcoin needs is stability in its "value". I feel bad for the poor bastards who invested their life savings in Bitcoin when it surged to $20k just to have it shed over half its value in a matter of days. That may not be much to cry about for the Winklevoss twins, but for the common hard working man or woman, that must have really hurt.

The good news that I have seen so far this year is that the full acceptance of Korea in bitcoin and they have added it in the market just like in USA, hoping that some countries will also follow this footsteps and if this happens then for sure the demand for cryptocurrency will blast and will create a great price.

The darkest hour is just before the dawn, it's gonna be a very good year for cryptocurrencies. Even though there are so many things on the way yet, but the future is clear. Bitcoin could repeat the 2017 scenerio and hit another massive all time high. With the adoptability and increasing usability, it all points to the fact that we are moving up soon.

Segwit has been doing an amazing job in getting the fees to decrease immensely, combined with the insanely low number of unconfirmed transactions. At this point a few cents in fees are enough to get your transaction confirmed within two blocks. If you want to spend plenty of outputs at once for a tiny fee, then this is the time to do it. If you follow LN (definitely do so if you haven't been following it yet) then you'll understand how fees, confirmation times, transaction processing, will no longer form a limiting factor.

I think now more than ever what Bitcoin needs is stability in its "value".
It would certainly be helpful at a later stage, but the volatility in current years is what makes Bitcoin attract capital.

I feel bad for the poor bastards who invested their life savings in Bitcoin when it surged to $20k just to have it shed over half its value in a matter of days. That may not be much to cry about for the Winklevoss twins, but for the common hard working man or woman, that must have really hurt.
I don't feel the same. This isn't a playing ground. It's probably one of the most brutal markets out there. If you don't understand how this market works, and don't have a clue about what Bitcoin is or does, you are bound to lose big time. It's called gambling if you blindly put your money into something hoping that it will result in profits.

I have seen a repeat of price pattern on most of the coins and tokens this year like last year. Bitcoin is going to do very well this year like last year and I have not seen any major issues that is going to limit Bitcoin price as many speculators are saying. This time last year many are saying that Bitcoin is not going to cross  $1,000 and we were having a lot of speculations that Bitcoin is not going to cross $1,000 and Bitcoin is going to stay below  $1,000 for the rest of 2017 but we can all see the great movement Bitcoin has made in 2017. In this year 2018 we are going to have great price fluctuations and bullish market that is going to push Bitcoin over $40,000.

I get what you're saying, but in my opinion, it is just as risky to invest in the stock market if you don't know what you're doing. The main difference is that there are plenty of investment firms out there, such as TD Ameritrade and Fidelity, where people get paid to invest your money on your behalf. Bitcoin doesn't have that yet. I do agree with you that people who know nothing about Bitcoin and have pipe dreams of investing a few thousand dollars and becoming millionaires over night should not be taking this risk.

Well stock market's been here for ages already compared to cryptomarket which, at more or less 10years, is likely just moving away from infancy. People who have an idea or is educated in stock market trading have a very good chance of getting the knack out of btc trading easily. Bottom line is that you don't go to a gunfight not aware if you have sufficient bullets or not

Investing without any prior research and understanding of the market in question is always risky. Investing without risk doesn't exist.

The main difference is that there are plenty of investment firms out there, such as TD Ameritrade and Fidelity, where people get paid to invest your money on your behalf.
In most cases wealthy retired individuals follow that route in order to gain some form of annual interest over their capital. I personally have nothing against it if others are doing it, but I will never allow anyone to invest the money I worked my entire life for. The easiest way to make money is never a way to actually become wealthy.

Bitcoin doesn't have that yet.
We're getting there already. I am not exactly sure which firm it was, but I have seen coverage on TV where that firm has explained to invest in crypto on behalf of those who find it too risky to get involved in themselves. I think it's just a matter of time before this will expand further, where at some point even banks might get involved in this. Financial institutions are holding back due to the lack of actual regulations.

Yes you are right, this year ahead is one of the best year since we all know that a lot of things happen this year. So for me we should invest as much as we can, hold as much as possible. Still, a lot of thing happen just like Japan starting regulating bitcoin, and Korea put bitcoin in their market which is a good thing.

Truth.

The easiest way to make money is never a way to actually become wealthy.

I do agree with you. However, those companies are in it to make money as well. They make money when we invest our money with them. It is in their best interest to ensure they invest our money wisely. Still, you do have a point that there is always a risk.

We're getting there already. That is interesting. Now that you mention it, I think I may have also read somewhere that cryptos will be or are already being traded on some commodities markets. I will have to look further into that.

Merchants aren't losing anything due to the volatility, which is why I don't understand why they even use it as an excuse. In let's say, +95% of the cases, merchants make use of third party payment processors such as BitPay. BitPay takes care of everything when it comes to people using Bitcoin to pay for stuff. Merchants themselves don't even deal with Bitcoin at all -- they just get the fiat value of the Bitcoin transaction (minus the BitPay fee) on their bank account. Merchants however do have the option with BitPay to keep a certain part of every transaction in Bitcoin, but thus far I haven't seen any merchant do so and publicly talk about it.

Last year was huge for crypto even though the future was uncertain. This year we have seen a ton of good news with governments accepting crypto as well as some major companies getting in on the action such as Microsoft, Bosch, Robinhood, etc. I'm with you. I think 2018 is going to be huge for crypto and I'm hoping the next 5 years will follow the same pattern. Right now things are pretty stagnant, but all this good news is just adding to the fuel. Once big money gets involved we will see another explosion.I will disagree on BTC dominance though. There are several exchanges such as Coinbase, Coss, Robinhood, FairX that are actively working towards creating more fiat to altcoin pairs. I believe this keep BTCs market share low. People will see BTC at 10K and XRP at $1 and will buy in on the low dollar value coins. That's just what I think at least.

If they invested in Bitcoin then they should have been aware of the potential risk. Bitcoin is slowly getting better in terms of scalability. Lightning Network is being developed, it will be used for small transactions that need to be inexpensive and fast. Right now, Bitcoin transaction fee is just 1 sat/b, it isn't really expensive. Valve and Microsoft stopped accepting BTC for some time but as far as I know, it's available again.

I am also convinced that there are enough elements to think that the cryptocurrency market will experience an important growth in 2018, because once the market has learned to deal with the entry and exit of large capitals as it happened in 2017, this this year may be less volatile than the previous one, but I hope that its behavior will be much more stable, which could undoubtedly attract more institutional capital that will lead to gradual and consistent growth.

I have also been continuously reading better comments about the potential of this market in different media, so the fears of a total collapse seem to be waning.

I think that Institutional Inverstors could be the driving force for a strong upleg of the whole cryptrocurrencies capitalization. Cryptland is a casino right now, but wall street is a much bigger casino which is running out of steam. It could well be that the big wall street whales decide that they can make more money by jumping into the crypto casino, in which case you would seem capitalization go to the roof.
The other four reasons i find less incisive.

I would like to add some more:

1) Increasing popularity in developing countries. Earlier the crypto exchanges in my country had only bitcoins listed for investors. Now they are adding more coins like Ripple, Ethereum and Litecoin. This shows that the popularity and acceptance of crypto is increasing in these countries.
2) Another important thing that will help bitcoin growth is the fall of PayPal. PayPal is facing a lot of troubles, like eBay has removed it as payment option. Also, PayPal is increasing its fees quite a lot which will irritate the users more.

I think these things are like being asked since ages and where do we stand in the developments? I think we are far far away from achieving these things. These five reasons that you have depicted here are really striking one because they have been tried since many years and still they are getting worse. Bitcoin scale up issue, its been two years and we are still not having proper solution for this one. If things kept happening like this then do you really think that 2018 can bring anything good to crypto world. We need to see real results and we dont need just few development put together. ICO are the black holes and they are sucking the investment of bitcoin that should be going into it daily and must not go into scammer projects.

Bitcoin is gonna be best currency because it gives us job and it helps us earning for our family, 3! Bitcoin increase chances to get rich in few months it does not take much time to grow.4! Having bitcoin will reduce your tension about your future as you will be happy that you have something behind you 5!

Yes you are right this ia also what im thinking that it repeating on what happen last year it will fall down many are panic selling and it will goes up again. Base on the chart last year and today it was same fluctuationand path so we assume that bitcoin on this year 2018 we hope that meet the speculation of $40,000 to $50,000 for this year.

These could probably excite the market because this token is going to useful in the real world. And I'm sure more and more people will be incline in utilizing these digital assets for easier and faster transactions.

I hope it will be a good year for cryptocurrency! The beginning of the year not very successful and caused a lot of panic, but I think closer to the middle of the year things will get better!
Compare it to the beginning of the last year 2017 you can totally see the difference to its price as it was lurking around for just $1000 plus then fluctuates to $900, then the price now? $9300 plus as of this time breaking the walls of 10,000. The major price crash was very devastating mostly for those who entered the market at the price of $20,000 but the correct price was the current that we are seeing now.

The only two feasible factors are the increased usability and usability of cryptocurrency. Investors are becoming more organized.

I basically agree with all your points, but this one I want to highlight specifically. There are no major updates like Lightning Network, which has been in the works for ages by now (just for the record), as there is no need for it. Without the spam load on the network, Bitcoin just works, while transactions are fast and cheap enough. What we actually lack is true adoption and real life application, with people using crypto as a means of payment. Without all these things, the improvements won't change anything, and that likely explains why there is not much movement in that direction lately.

There is no reason to support the ICO here, because there are none out there who has brighter ideas any more. They all are condensed now and repeating each other to get some profits. The ICO just stands out only if the real product is avaible for the particular project.

Well, here I should disagree with you somewhat, though. Even if we don't see genuinely new and fresh ideas coming up, it doesn't mean there can't be any more in the future. People in late 19th and early 20th century earnestly believed they had opened all the laws in natural sciences, and there is no more room for new discoveries. As it turned out they were flat-out wrong.

If you want to hear my opinion, I don't believe in that thing. Yes, I definitely believe in volatility, it exists for sure, but it is not the primary reason why many businesses stopped accepting cryptocurrencies. First of all, how many of them have actually been accepting Bitcoin or some other coin? I only know about Steam and Microsoft, though the latter seems to be still accepting Bitcoin at their site for some digital services they offer. All others have been accepting fiat, and the volatility thing didn't affect them in any degree as it was not their concern. It is a matter for payment processors and gateways, and believe me, they know how to tackle it.

Further, the true reason why businesses drop their support for Bitcoin (and other such currencies) is that people are not willing to spend their coins. For most of us crypto is an asset with which we earn money (dollars, euro, etc). It is our financial capital, and spending it on trivial things would be equal to wasting it.

Yeah, the real beginning of something superb. I am pretty sure the whole ecosystem would have changed a whole lot by this time with massive adoption that could come as a result of regulation, like you said, high level of investors stepping into the space and so many more. Which I am sure this is the thing we are all looking forward to anyway and the things we will get to see over time.

I am not really bothered about that because regulation is definitely going to be cleaning up the whole space whether we like it or not. Take a look at the way some of these exchanges are beginning to delist some of these digital currencies, and how the government is clamping down on some with reference to CTR, and as we keep seeing things like this, we will start getting to see cleaner space for cryptocurrency and real life cases for those with products and legal, with huge investors stepping in.

Legalization of anything give its power to diverge more and more. People will easily follow and accept a thing that have good legislation and rules and regulations implemented by government. Bitcoins have this very good fact in some countries and there definitely people are using these coins with much ease and comfort. They aren’t afraid of any scam because government is taking care.

Not just 2018, all coming years also will be the best one for crypto users until there will be a saturation in terms of new adopters. We are still in the 5th month of 2018 and its still a long way to go before we can claim that 2018 is the best year for cryptocurrencies. We may have seen the best of cryptocurrencies which is 2017 when Bitcoin hit its all-time high to $20,000 USD. However, if you think about it, if the sudden price increase of Bitcoin happened this year, we may see BTC going beyond his all-time high.

The expansion as well as the lighting bitcoin is very far. ICO does not have many protection measures for investors. Regulations also make it difficult for countries to agree on regulations. The only two feasible factors are the increased usability and usability of cryptocurrency. Investors are becoming more organized.
Organization is still a good thing and that is something any investor will not have a choice to do. However, Lightening bitcoin is already being tried, so we cannot say yet that the expansion is still very far.

Plus, ICOs do have protection measures and that is by using your own brain pending when we will get to see regulations, which comes down to the last thing you said about regulation and that is one thing we will just have to give in to. At the same time, regulations may kill the progress of crypto for some times but later it will boos the faster boom of crypto world. But in long term, people again will find non-necessity of regulations to confirm decentralization.

I do not think so. 2018 is not a good year for electronic money. The price of electronic currency is falling deeply, causing many investors to lose a significant amount of money. No one doubts that Bitcoin is currently trading around the $ 7,000 mark. This is a difficult year for the Cryptocurrency market.

I see you have a high ranking, maybe you have more experience in this field. As long as I still hope Bitcoin will go up, I'm investing in Bitcoin. Maybe a miracle will happen in late 2018.

Looks like something is failing mate and it doesnt seem to me the perfect year for the crypto currencies yet. What I see is massive course correction of the crypto after it has hiked too much last year. The developmental issues are still there and nothing has been done about it yet. I guess there is still time for such issues to overcome and nothing is gonna happen until next year end for sure with the current speed of development. Anyways, though it is worst bear we can take it as positive one to invest in it with the cheap rates.

I think it's too early to say whether it is a good or a bad year yet, last year the whole fun about prices has just begun at this point, increasing from ~$4000 in the end of August to ~$18000 in December, just 4 months later! We can expect the same course of events this year, or even better, another important fact - if the price of BTC was shitty this year it doesn't mean that this year was bad for cryptorurrencies by all means. There have been numerous events related to cryptocurrency questions in 2018, that might make the price increase soon, e.g. Bitcoin during FIFA World Cup, or BTC acceptance by Starbucks and Burger King and lots of conferences that attracted new investors and companies: https://www.finder.com/cryptocurrency-conferences-and-events
All those events enhanced the expansion of Bitcoin and thus, the demand for it.

Actually every year the development of bitcoin will be better than the previous year, this year is considered bad even though the correction will definitely result from an unreasonable increase, but that does not mean that this year will be a bad year, with 5 reasons you might bring demand to grow high and make price grow #hope

You talk about "lot of execution in terms of usability" which I don't think is really valid point. I mean we don't need too many number of coins in the market but we just want to have valid projects with really "real" use of them. If such projects come along then only they could help our crypto currency world to evolve in better ways. So let's hope it comes that way only and about rest of the points you mentioned are worth cosniderable too.

I understand your viewpoint and even partly share it. I do not think that this year will be something that is really great for the cryptocurrencies. Just for some alts.

And now we just wait for those who come back and start saving their money to make a price of more than $20,000 but I guess that will be hard.

There are many reasons to consider 2018 for the best year for cryptocurrency but let's not be so complacent about it and continue to be positive. Of course there are trials that could possibly make everyone lose but with the positive vibes and sharing of information will help us minimize losses. Even with the emergence of ICO's, there are still doubt about how good the project is. So looking at the reasons you have shared, then maybe some new investors will come to cryptocurrency.

Maybe that will be true, but I don’t think it will be like that of last year. Same thing can’t continue to be happening at all times. Even before the bubble in last year it took more than a decade before that happened, and if that continues to be happening every time within the same time frame, then its bullsh*t.

No one will invest again, they will withdraw their money and wait for that particular time so they can invest and withdraw immediately before price falls. A market should be unpredictable and I believe that’s how this market is.

The Q4 of 2018 is fast approaching and I think this will not be strong enough as last year. Although I'm optimistic that we can still have a bull run but due to the market situation it can't be as good as last year. Reaching to $10k for bitcoin will be good enough which I think it's possible to make it.

But the bear market will not last forever. The bull run could definitely start by the 4th quarter up to the first quarter of the next year. All green all the way.

I think that 2018 is the time where people are given a chance to build their portfoloi. Even for those eho eent in on the game late, this year actually equalizes everyone. This time when you buy a crypto currency it is as cheap as it was last year ir the year before. So in a sense, 2018 is a good time to start getting on the crypto currency game.

Yes probably. We can believe that the market will continuously rise just like the other years that passed. It is from the statistics that after some time of being down bullish market will be seen amd this is for sure. We should trust the cryptocurrency, bitcoin and so as the people.I do believe that there is another bull will run this year to pump the market.

1. The work on scaling issues
2. Large scale and more legitimate ICOs
3. Regulation
4. A lot of execution and usability
5. Institutional investors

I think 1 to 4 has already happen and what we are waiting for now is the number 5 which is allowing institutional investors to come into the space, and that's the bitcoin ETF, and I think if bitcoin ETF gets approved by the SEC, then 2018 could be the best year for crypto currency. let's just wait and hope that will be done.

Yeah, 1 and 4 has happened but to a very low extent. For now, the scalability for bitcoin with the lightening network is still being tested on a smaller scale, and hopefully as time goes on, we will be able to see it fully blown on a larger scale which is still something good to look forward to anyway.

For the lots of execution and usability, we all know that is something that is pretty much on the low side at the moment, as we get to see people tending towards the speculative side than real life usage and until we start seeing scaling becoming a thing of the past, merchants stepping in to add bitcoin as a payment option and mass adoption kicking in, before we can even start seeing the number 4 implemented.

I believe that the triangle that is now formed on the chart will be expanded and we will see a sideways movement. For global growth, lateral movement is necessary for gaining positions.
Definitely, but however the market is going to go is only going to be known with time.
Usually, there has always been a usual bearish sentiment when it comes to a descending triangle and for now a lot of people are still being cautious how they want to be treating the market at the moment. In my opinion, only price levels will decide about the best year for bitcoins and definitely no other criteria.

Nevertheless, whichever way the market is going to come, I still believe this year is already a great year as it has at least given us the chance to buy more lower and it will take someone who understands the benefit that lurks in the future that would know that buying when everyone is selling is usually the best way to go.

this year will end in a few months. in my opinion it's just a guess factor that can be used as an excuse if cryptocurrencies are successful this year. but infact that it is only a guess until now the market has not had a significant increase. it should be true if the current market price is creeping up. but the reality is stagnant.

5. Institutional investors

yes with the passage of time things are going more better in the crypto and if someone will say that the previous year was good in crypto then it is sure that this current years is also better and more better than the previous years. Many people who disappointed is only with the price which raised much high and then came a little back for the correction which will also be get better in the coming months.
I am involving with bitcoin since 2011 and i absolve bitcoin to much I've great experience with bitcoin and cryptocurrency as far as i know whenever the price fall it increase double next time.
I not agree. What kind of " The work on scaling issues" what kind of " Regulation " and what kind of " Institutional investors ". I am not sure that your points meet the market rank nor i see its a good for all cryptocurrency.
Actually i believe these factors can possible affect the market for cryptocurrency in a positive way if the change in the factors is positive. That is in harmony with the cryptocurrency graphs.

Institutional investment and regulation imposed by the government can help rise the price for investment in the inflow of funds into the market and government regulations might make the investment a bit more secure for those who want to invest and fear to lose due to the illegal tender for any countries have banned it.

If you think about it, 2018 us a good time to start investing on crypto currency because all the coins are down and the market is in the red because if the bear run. But the bear market will not last forever. The bull run could definitely start by the 4th quarter up to the first quarter of the next year. All green all the way.
The mindset of people is to always want to get into a place that is already getting rosy, which is one of the reasons it is very easy for a higher percentage of people to join FOMO instead and chicken out when there is a bear market.

It would take only someone who understands the reason why he or she is investing in the first place that would be able to channel their focus on the long term which would make them know that taking advantage of a bear market by loading up and a point when you really should be investing is the best way to go. But even if you tell them, they just won't listen.

We could still witness what happened last year with btc though it may not come as many will expect. It should actually be a year of mass adoption realization with projects like Mfchain, Utrust, Pundi X all working toward mass adoption of cryptocurrency and Mfchain looking more promising. Those who will always make the money are those investing when the market is low for long term benefits.

More legitimate ICOs ? Are you sure? It seems to me that number of scam ICOs is just growing and I don't see any reasons showing another side and claiming OP words. As for other reasons, I am agree with most of them. Regulation can cause coming of institutional investors. Those guys with big money will never invest in crypto prior to ETF adoption. But once it happens, big money flow into crypto market.
I also disagree with year, in 2018 all of these cases won't happen and probably 2019 will perform better results

Security ICO's will be big as well. Having a stake in the actual business and receiving dividends will be an improvement on things.

The third point that you bring about regulation is something that I disagree completely, people want regulation because they want the protection of the government so they avoid losing money, but the market of cryptocurrencies is based on the fact that you are completely responsible for everything that happens to your coins and if you cannot take care of them then it is your fault.

I think there is a possibility that people will remember 2018 as a good year, the prices came down to reasonable levels and there are a lot of positive things going on behind the scene. I have more confidence in crypto than last year when most was speculation. Now the projects are being built and plenty of good ones undervalued.

Maybe 2019 will be better, so far 2018 has not been the best year in any case not price, not volume, not user count. People have been getting away from bitcoin and all crypto together thinking the price has been going low constantly and the stagnancy of the price after the drop has not have been recovering and that's not helping as well.

2018 was the year bitcoin and all crypto just stands still and waits, waits for something to happen so it can get to a bigger movement yet it is not. Good part is the "drop" is not too much, even tho we are in a bear market the price is still high compared to what it used to be except december.

The people have always had the power however we all need to come together and say NO MORE CONTROL over our lives. As long as the people use cryptos p2p and not government cryptos and exchangers then we will be in control. Remember that's why Bitcoin was created after 2008 crises.

Well, see it as you may want to see it but in the actual sense, not everything about the market is all about the price only. Have you taken your time to consider the development we have seen in the cryptocurrency space so far? Have you taken your time to read the news to see how countries are really beginning to see how they can adopt it? Are you seeing how banks and government are really trying not to be left out? Are you also seeing the same people who have been attacking the crypto space, investing hugely into the space based on creating tools for the cryptocurrency space? All these things are gearing up for mainstream adoption and those who are smart will see this moment as an opportunity to accumulate.

To raise the potential for cryptocurrency growth, we need to create demand.Only then we can talk about scalability and ultimately increase the price.I do not think that the price will change depending on the regulation of the cryptocurrency. If they regulate cryptocurrencies, then the slag and garbage will simply be eliminated.Other respectable people are ready to work with cryptocurrencies legally.

This is a year of transition, the last year was obviously the year of a great bull market and after such a year it is impossible to have another one like it that soon, this is something that applies not only to cryptocurrencies but to any other market, so it's completing natural that the price action in this market has been a lot lower than it was in the previous year.

At least, for the fact that we are even beginning to see institution trying to make a move into the space is actually a very good start and I believe that as time goes on, we will get to start seeing mainstream adoption sufficing.

A lot of people may be concentrating on the fact that this year has been a year of bloodbath for them rather than seeing the opportunities that lay around them, but one thing I know is that in the crypto world in general, a lot of development has happened this year in terms of real adoption and only those who can see that will know this is actually the time to start taking advantage of the dips.

People are only seeing the tip of the iceberg, while there is no doubt that the year 2017 was incredible for cryptocurrencies in general, they are not seeing that the groundwork to become successful in that particular year was done in the years before, all of those that became very rich thanks to that year invested in bitcoin in 2014, 2015, 2016 and at the beginning of 2017.

The fact is that every December Bitcoin will increase and all that is based on the history of the Bitcoin movement. In 2017, many ICO projects succeeded in reaching the target, but in 2018 investors need to rethink investing their money in the ICO project because regulatory issues are getting stronger. Then seeing the potential of stock traders have begun to move to crypto trading, this will be an opportunity for rising bitcoin prices.

There is a very big difference between something being possible and something being likely, it is true that the price of bitcoin can move really fast so there is a chance that we could see a recovery in the next months, but how likely it is for the market to recover and reach levels similar to those that we reached at the last year? To me that doesn't seem very likely.

It is true that the year of 2017 was many times better than the year 2018 but it was impossible for this year to be as good as the previous one, it doesn't matter what kind of asset we are holding, its impossible to have two incredible years in a row, so to me it is completely understandable that this year has been nothing more than a disappointment but it's very likely that the next year or the year after will be better.
