Title: (UK & EU GROUP BUY 13/20) 0.1BTC Casascius Silver Coin
Post by: steelboy on September 30, 2013, 09:53:46 AM
Hi

I think the new silver 0.1BTC casascius coins look great and as a collector have to have a few, as a reseller though i feel they are a little to high cost to be able to sell them though.

I would like to start a group buy for the UK & EU.

My proposal is simple. We split the price of the coins and postage to the UK evenly between all of us and the extra postage needed to send from me to the final buyer is covered individulally by each buyer.

I have sold a few coins on bitmit now and have done a few trades with various people. I am looking to build my reputation too which is why i am happy to make no profit on this order. (And i want a few coins)

Price will be 9BTC/20 = 0.45 BTC for each coins. EDITED AS IT WAS UNCLEAR

Postage will be 0.5BTC/total different users involved. eg. if there is 10 different buyers we will all pay 0.05 extra in total.

EDIT (In case of a customs charge then this will be split between unique users in the same way as postage, if you are not ok with this please let me know)

I will start it and see if anyone is interested

No-one interested? Is that in the group buy or the 0.1's in general?

The price does seem to knock everyone but collectors out i think.  :-\

Ill think about it. Im a semi-colector, but also investor...
They are very expensive. Im still hoping the price will drop. For 0.25-0.30 BTC I would probably buy some...

I don't see the price dropping any time soon

I'm interested in probably 2 if possible, when do you plan on dropping the order?

* For £40 each it's a much better price than if you bought from a reseller

I'm only getting the one (0.10) to complete the collection. Stunning coins, don't regret buying the other two at all but still pricey nevertheless

Just checked the original post as i wasnt sure what you meant. It looks like i made a mistake with the post. It should read 9BTC/20 = 0.45BTC. I am not intending on making a 0.45BTC profit on each coin :) I presume that anybody who has already said they wantone know this too, (if you do want to pay me 0.45 extra for each coin feel free ;) )

So to clarify. Coin cost will be split evenly per coin.

Postage will be split between unique number of buyers. If there are 10 different buyers it will be divided by 10 irrespective of how many coins you want. Extra postage from me to you will be on a non profit basis. I just want some coins. :)

Cool, so assuming by the time we get to 19 sold you will be able to get one then that leaves 8 to go. I reckon we should be able to order by the end of this week. :)

Hey,

Would you mind adding few of these new coins for me in the group buy order? (perhaps there would be more intereset from other ppl as well?)

Thanks

I think its a good idea. I would be happy to wait to order the 0.1s until an order for 20 of these is ready.

What do other people think?

I think i will start a fresh thread for the 1BTC coins though, link to follow

One other thing i have thought have however, I am sure there will be a customs charge of some amount. There was one when i ordered from Casascius in the past.

Can everyone confirm that they are ok to cover this between users too, again it will be on a unique users basis and also not for profit

So the 1BTC group buy is full. If anyone hasnt grabbed a spot on this list it is has got to worth it. What with postage and customs shared between all the buyers this has got to be the cheapest way to get hold of a 0.1 Casascius.

Who's going to be next??

Unfortunately it looks like it might take a longer while before we find the full crew here, and in the meantime OgNasty has 11 of these coins left ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=310226.20 ), somehow exactly matching current number here :). I wonder if it would be much more expensive to get him to send coins to you (@Steelboy) and then you will send them to us along with gold plated 1 BTCs?

Ok, I have all the info

Because of the waiting and the btc price rising we got the coins at 5.03

This means each coin was only 0.2515. A proper result i think. :) I have put you in for 2 then coco23

The final list was this

1. steelboy
2. steelboy
3. steelboy
4. steelboy
5. dozerz
6. dozerz
7. luke.watson
8. luke.watson
9. iron77
10. iron77
11. icey
12. pruden
13. coco23
14. coco23

Postage of 0.125 will be split between 7 buyers so that's 0.0179 each

So breakdown is as follows

dozerz, luke, iron and coco

x2 0.503 + 0.0179 = 0.5209 each of you

icey and pruden

0.2515 + 0.0179 = 0.2694

Please pay this to address as soon as you can as i have already paid for this order

1JJJYniPamd5kUVxqFZFcMHvPtqJWaD9HX

with a note in the block chain stating who its from.

If you are combining payment with what is owed from the 1BTC buy then please note that too.

Again, don't forget customs charges and postage to each individual are still to come and as soon as i know what they are i will let you all know, if you can check my maths please do and if you notice any mistakes let me know

I will update as soon as i have notice of dispatch from Casascius :)

I have been traveling a fair bit in the past couple weeks, something I don't preannounce.  So that has been making me a bit slow on answering emails and funding coins (as well as stickering/keying them as necessary).  Shipments are still going out even when I travel - we stickered the last of the production run gold-plated silver coins today, so if your order contains these, it's likely to go out today.  Any outstanding 2-factor bars were all just finished as well.  If it has any 0.1 btc rolls, that'll be another couple days.  To be honest, there's a bit of relief to not be taking orders - I had no idea I'd even get this far behind.

And just a brief update on where the money transmitter effort is going: evaluating how the state governments will react to FinCEN taking a stand that I'm a money transmitter... since I've come to understand that it's actually the states that are more aggressive in regulating who can and can't "transmit" money... the feds seemingly want more than anything, the unbridled ability to follow money as it moves, and less to prohibit people who are willing and able to follow their reporting rules.  There's a lot of states and I'm sure you've all heard that getting licensed in 50 states is a monumental undertaking, but even winning any sort of vic

Ok, they have arrived. :D We have some good and some bad news however.

Bad news first, Mike has only included cases for the 1's and not the 0.1's. Not only that but the cases for the 1's are the same ones i already have and they are simply not suitable. You really have to push the coin into the case and i have cracked a case doing this before. :( I am going to look for cases tonight when I'm home, it shouldn't be too difficult or expensive, I will keep you all informed.

Good news, which easily balances out the bad, is it seems the customs charges were paid on Casascius end. :) This means the only cost of getting the coins to you all will be postage and packaging. :)

Give me 24 hours and i will have more details. Pretty sure everyone should have their coins by Christmas though.

Ok I have found some cases with foam protectors on ebay.

They will work out at under £1 each, which i think most people will be willing to pay.

I have ordered them and they should be here on Monday, meaning I will be able to post Monday onwards.  Please contact me by PM with your name and address and I will work out amounts to be paid.

Thanks

I just gave it to my cousin, who had no idea what Bitcoin was. One her first impressions was "This is what true money should look like". After just a few minutes explaining, she hugged me and said "thanks for buying me a house".

What a smart cousin I have. ;D Thank you, steelboy!
