Title: Stuck on Jr. Member
Post by: Godwans on March 02, 2018, 11:40:09 AM
I don't know where to post this so....
Why would i be stuck at Jr.Member for the last 3-4 weeks?
As you can see i have the post count and merit.
Activity has been stuck at 56 as well.
Ideas?

Activity was scheduled to be updated last Tuesday, but I've noted a delay of two to three days before everyone is actually updated. I note that another user who had a similar problem went from 56 to 70 just today, so I'd give it one more day before contacting the Bitcointalk 24/7 service desk :D

Your activity is updated every other Tuesday, you wont see your activity increase to (a maximum of) 70 until Tuesday 13th of March.

You have just enough merit to make it to Member, so you can expect the update to occur around the 13th.

Seems you were updated to 70 just now - congratulations, member!

Your situation is actually quite different from that of the thread starter as they already have the amount of merit needed to advance. But with time, as you learn more and more about things bitcoin, you will make contributions others will find useful and ‘meritable’. It’s not about luck; it’s more about having the knowledge needed in a particular situation and being able to communicate it.

Meanwhile, you can read and post just fine as a junior member. So my suggestion is not to worry about your rank as that’s basically a cosmetic thing. In particular, don’t resort to posting for the sake of posting. Enjoy the ride :)

You can earn a maximum of 14 activity points during each 14 day period.

I don't think what you wrote are exact ones about mechanism of activity-count in the forum. As stated by Theymos - forum admin - activity-count will be re-counted periodically for every two-week based on your starting day in the forum (your registration day). So the day will depend on specific account, we will not have exactly day as you said (Tuesday 13th of March) for automatically activity-count update for all accounts in the forum.
Your thread could mislead readers (particularly, newcomers, newbies), and should be corrected a little bit.

Please read it carefully there:
The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Rough summary of what this means: If you post once per day on average, then you will eventually get the maximum number of activity points that you can get. Posting more than once per day on average is useless for increasing activity. The maximum number of activity points you can get is 1 per day, but your activity score only updates every two weeks. Therefore, it will take about 100 days to get 100 activity if you post once per day on average.

Activity is updated every hour.

Me, too. Is there any chances to upgrade my rank? Or this is forever, no more hope?!

Usually this is the same as with other things in life like money, if you work for the money it is hard to earn, if you work because you like whet you do money will come. Just keep on being part of the community and it will happen :)

This is the right place to post this, the Meta section would have also been a solid option.

Sometimes members get stuck between ranks, I've seen it happen with Hero/Legendary and lower ranks as well. Occasionally Theymos manually fixes this as it is noticed, but other times the system will automatically take care of it after some time. It is nothing to worry about, and you will still get your rank up within due time. There are a lot of users for the checks and counts to run through, I imagine it just gets hung-up sometimes.

I don't know if you have noticed yet and nobody else has pointed this out within the thread, but you have ranked up as far as I can tell. You are a member, no longer a Jr., so I imagine it was just "hung-up" as aforementioned.

I would lock the thread, unless you have any other questions or problems.
