Title: How do you research if the coin is a good investment?
Post by: imdada on March 07, 2018, 05:04:41 PM
How do you do your own research if the coin is a good investment?

For me, I always look on the purpose of the project, the team behind it, what exchanges is it available on etc. And one of the important thing for me is the total supply of the coin.
I also research if the coin is Proof of Work (POW), Proof of Stake (POS), Pre-mined or other.

I always look at the price of a coin, the total amount of coins in circulation right, team’s composition and the most important factor for investing - market cap.  But there are many other factors that can affect its price (the news media, forks, plans eg)

Search for the price of the coins, the pool of coins they have and also check what is their project all about.
Look for the admins and search their backgrounds. If their project will benefit many people then most like that coin will be a success.
Choose investments with big projects.

I do my own research on media, youtube, news. I rate the team on how popular and well experienced and I'm doing a checking on linkedin. I also look at the project and its product if on demand and necessary for the users and the price of ICO does not exceed to $1 each token.

There are so many factors that have to be considered that an entire book can be written.
But a good starting point is to analyze whether the project needs its own coin or not.
If everything runs just as smoothly using Bitcoin or another cryptocurrency, then be sure that the coin/token will be worthless soon.

the popularity of the coin is needed if you going to invest like btc and eth now they are so popular so they good for investing you can also read all about the future plan for their coin because you can see the development by that,Moreover you can see also in trading site the market price if the coin is high so it's good for investing but still risky even they have value already

Yes and no, the market is to complex to figure out a portfolio now because it is going down and that takes most of the coins there. You need to be selective, not distribute.

Well, some of the elements you come up with are absolutely correct, but I think the ICO project management team is the most important, if the team has a good level of knowledge, they will run their project well. Easier to achieve more success. I think the number of tokens released by it also speaks to the quality of an ICO. If the number of tokens released is too high, then the ICO project is more likely to commit fraud.

basically the same, that is looking for the best opportunity to invest it is necessary various analysis of the developing coins, which coins should be selected and the potentially good in the future, see the history of the coin on the market whether the behavior, high-value or able to survive amidst the price storm that changed? it all goes back to a trusted source by deepening the knowledge of coins and its marketing and its association with good and successful corporate projects. a good coin for me that is more dominantly chosen and used by trusted companies. it needs to be known by digging a lot of information thoroughly.

You just need to feel comfortable and make sure that you join on something that you are comfortable with, or else it could cost a lot of issue. So, if we are comfortable with the way we are working, then that should be sufficient enough to invest.

the idea on you are great basis to know the coins is good investment because the porpupose of the project are very important to become succesful the ico become the coin valuable in the coinmarketcap.
for me my idea's to know what is good coin for to invest become profitable i will monitor also the how many coins sold in the market bought by the investor's because if they have many people bought the coins as investment the big possible to increase the price into the coinmarketcap.

Yes agree. I also usually research a coin or token by looking at some of the elements associated with it, including: project development, work ethic of the development team, community (can be seen in the circulation of coins and market volume).

I agree on the importance of whitepaper in every ICO inorder for us to know the potentials of it's platform that it can give to the users and investors. Another option is to check and analyze the market movement on the coinmarketcap site that gives the statistical price data and the price chart to determine where this coin is heading. Will it be continuing to go up or the other way around.

first is you need to check the developers of the coin and check their background then next is do research about their project especially their roadmap and white paper. when you found it interesting then it is a good way to invest.

The most important factor to consider when analyzing an ICO is determining if a project has a high likelihood for success or not.

Factors that determine a successful project include:

- The experience level of the team (the best projects have a management team with a track record)
- The current stage of a project (the best projects already have a product that is built with an engaged customer base)
- Whether a utility for the coin exists (the more utility a coin has, the greater the demand it has)
- Whether there are network effects in place (the best projects utilize the network effect to drive and retain demand for the coin)

The science isn’t perfect when it comes to evaluating an ICO. By taking part in projects that have a high likelihood for success, the chances of the coin price appreciating over time are much higher than those that have yet to establish themselves in the industry.

I always do some research, read the whitepaper and try understand their project. Reading reviews from other investors and getting their opinion is quite important as well and very helpful. Doing these things will help you easily determine the way of the coin you are trying to invest. The team is also the best way to know if they are really trying to make the project successful.

That's a good point. But from my experience, that is not enough. You have to see the project clearly. First of all, you can search the team member behind that project. I see some bitcointalk members always googling first the project team, and they found many project using fake Image for their members.

I would recommend to invest in the coins that have made their way to the top 30 in the crypto currency coin market cap. Those coins have been in the market for long and can be trusted though research must be done which coin is the best and which have great technology and real world applications. Also the circulating supply and trade volume must be checked as they play major role in increase or decrease of a crypto currencies rate.

How I do my research to know if a coin or a token  is a good investment?  Is to look out the basic things that matters. That is (1) the purpose of project I want to invest in,  that is the really use of it.  (2) The Development Team behind the project because their profile and reputation is very important (3) The popularity of the project, that is their ability to advertise the project through out all the known media, be it social media or any other medium because it is not how long a coin or token exist that matters but the ability to make it popular. Well advertise project will guickly make it to the first page of  "Coinmarketcap " and that guarantees your profit.

All investments have pros and cons. A Cryptocurrency investor needs to look for the cons first, as some are definite deal breakers. If they exist, it is not worth investing more time in researching the crypto-currency.Investing in cryptocurrency can be done by following the momentum and technical analysis of charts. Does this work? Different people have different levels of success with such strategies, the fundamentals approach to investing has worked for Warren Buffet and there is no reason why it should not work in for cryptocurrency investors. In addition to fundamental analysis dollar cost averaging is also an important investing strategy.

Find out everything you can about the team, especially the development team and the advisory board. Look up each team member for relevant experience. Google their names. Visit their LinkedIn profiles. Look for famous  names among the advisory board of the project. Find out if the team has any crypto experience and more importantly – in which projects, or ICOs, they were involved with and the impact they had. ICOs mean the creation of a new dedicated token for the project. One of the most important questions each project needs to answer is what is the token for? Why isn’t Bitcoin or Ethereum enough to serve as the project’s token? Yes, many projects just make up a scammy story. Hey, an ICO can’t be an ICO without a dedicated token. The same question needs to be asked regarding the use of the blockchain technology behind the project.

Particularly ,i observe the quality of the project, i analyze the structure of the team, thoroughly study the strategy of disclosure and study also the announcement in the forum. However the POW, POS and Masternode quality are the differentials and not necessarily an obligation, the basis of the project is a higher requirement. Now, in relation to personal investment strategy, i analyze the graphics, liquidity and the market trend.

2. who is the team behind it?
3. do they have a working copy (beta) or something like that
4. how coin is integrated in the project

The first thing I look at is the product. If the product really needs blockchain technology and will be better with it - than okey. Second thing - how much money they intend to raise , i like detailed explanation, to understand. The good sign if the development  already started before ICO or there is  almost finished product. And at last i look  the team: their profiles in lynkedin, facebook, twitter. Wouldn't bad if advisors confirmed information about their engagement in this project.

I always look at the price of a coin, the total amount of coins in circulation right, team’s composition and the most important factor for investing - market cap.  But there are many other factors that can affect its price (the news media, forks, plans eg)
Yes indeed, the price of crypto currencies are quite volatile and can highly fluctuate with news, media, government, forks and partnerships. Also check the news that follows the coin before buying it so that you can know if the coin has gained value cause of some hype or fork or has been rising steadily with a bullish graph.

If the prices has been manipulated cause of some factor, then wait for the dip in the market or that specify coin and then invest in it, so that you shall make profit. Always buy when others are selling and sell when other are buying.

Getting a good coin need to have a good research. For me, first that I look is their project then compare this to others and see if the market is good. Then I always watch the video they provide because it is a pain to read the white paper. Also, checking the team really helps since if they have a good records then it means they have a capability to make project a success.

Know about them, their background and profiles. In additional to that, join on their telegram where they usually cater your queries. And I usually check its status in the market day by day.

How do you do your own research if the coin is a good investment?

For me, I always look on the purpose of the project, the team behind it, what exchanges is it available on etc. And one of the important thing for me is the total supply of the coin.
I also research if the coin is Proof of Work (POW), Proof of Stake (POS), Pre-mined or other.

that is the thing that essential in looking for a good project the purpose and the team behind it , other than that i cant see anything that might help a person to have an idea on how the project will run successfully. And also for me is when it will be available in the exchange .

When am researching a project, I first check the purpose of the project if it is really needed.
I check if the tech is feasible and whether they have a working protocol
I read their ICO and roadmap. Etc
Then I would make my decision whether to invest or not

Before buying a coin, one must read its whitepaper and see for what use the coin is being created for, does it have any real world applications, which team is working behind it, are they being transparent, how many partnerships they have been able to make so far, on what platform the coin is being created, what are the key features of the coin, what are they doing to promote their coin and gain people interest, what is the supply of the coin and many other key features. Reading its white paper will provide quite much info and you can judge whether it seems legit or scam.

I think there are many factors especially in an ICO project. I see whitepaper first, then the composition of the team and the advisor who is already professional, road map and also products that have been produced previously. if it's all good then I think it will be a good investment

I do my own research on media, youtube, news. I rate the team on how popular and well experienced and I'm doing a checking on linkedin. I also look at the project and its product if on demand and necessary for the users and the price of ICO does not exceed to $1 each token.

Youtube is also a great source to acquire knowledge about crypto market or a particular coin as many experts take to youtube to share their experience, knowledge and views about a coin.

Also the demand must be checked, whether a coin has more demand or not, cause as demand increases, volume increases and price increases with it. Speculation of prices must also been seen by experts and experienced traders.

This is very interesting you can collect all the information from internet, watch youtube videos, study different articles, read whitepaper, examine market of that coin for about 10 days,in this way you would be able to guess whatever you got about this coins is feasible in market or not. When you are completely satisfied about that product performance then you should choose that one for investment. Also notice that project of that product/coin is for long term or short term or extendable, then you can analyze for short or long term investment. For example Altcoins like NEO,ADA,IOTA are good for short as well as long term investment.

First check if that coin will get hit by the consumers so you will be assured that your investment will gain profit. Second you do the research on what you said. Researching the POW and POS will be smart idea in investing a coin.

I do not particularly see the technology on which the blockchain of the currency is built. Especially I do not trust the new technologies. For me a good currency it is a currency that has already proven itself on the market.

Yup. I will check the community, the support and the staff. No one want invest money in the project whose staff are irresponsible. Nowadays, there are a lot of projects (ICO,......). It's difficult to find a trusted project   ;D ;D ;D

The first is the reputation of the team. I means the true team but not the fake clarity. The second is the media group, watch the meaningful post but not the number of the group( the number of people of telegram group is not believable as there are always many bots for the bounty)

I look at the purpose of the project. Will it have an actual usage or is it jumping on the crypto hype train? This is a question I always ask myself.
Furthermore I look at the community, what kind of people are active and in what way do they influence others. Of course it's important to checkout of if the team behind the project is solid. If it's an ICO I look at how they are planning to spend the raised funds and on what. Total supply and price per token is important as well. Before the Facebook crypto ban, I used to look at how their ads were targeting me, so I could analyze their marketing strategy.

To me all the ICO projects look very promising if I read their whitepaper or visit their website. That's why I try to consider other things, like do the big companies listed on the site really support the project, do the "developers" know about their involment, what reputable news agencies say about the project, etc.

With already existed coins it's easier. If they are on the market more than a year, they will hardly disappear in a short period of time, and if they were valued 5-6 times more than now in the past, than they actually have that potential. And the last, but not least, thing to check is whether the coin is "alive" at the moment, which can be checked by looking at the daily trading volume and the section "Social" on Coinmarketcap.

Particularly ,i observe the quality of the project, i analyze the structure of the team, thoroughly study the strategy of disclosure and study also the announcement in the forum. However the POW, POS and Masternode quality are the differentials and not necessarily an obligation, the basis of the project is a higher requirement.

I always rely on the feedback of the previous investor in making investment. Through this I can be able to determined whether the company gives a excellent service and income to their investors.

First of all, look at the price of the coin. If it is too low then think about taking it or not. Usually the more expensive the better. I look at the end of ICO. There always restore good coins and expensive

I personally rely on fundamentals when I look out for investing in a new coin.
I read the whitepaper, understand what they are trying to accomplish, is there a real world usage of the coin, how is the market reacting to there releases and updates, in short, the market sentiments around that project.

These points gives me a step up regarding the knowledge about the project for future. I dont day trade.
