Title: KNC Countdown to shipping all units - 15th October
Post by: The Avenger on October 11, 2013, 02:19:44 PM

All current paid orders will be shipped no later than October 15th.
+
(https://www.kncminer.com/news/news-37)

Timer removed. End time: 2013-10-15+18:00:00CEST

As KNC are keeping all their customers in the dark, not giving us ANY updates on production schedule or shipping, I think it's appropriate we keep an eye on their 15th October shipping pledge.

Their customer service team are still giving customers who ring/email this date, so they are obviously expecting us to hold them to it.

We are.

(Countdown is to 6pm Swedish Time on 15th, close of business, no further shipping possible that day)

That was posted September 2, before they even had their chips. They have some other issues they need to work on that might be a little more important than fire boxes heading out the door.

this is more than fair. are they still 'confident'?

what happens when it reaches zero?

I will put it this way: if I had to bet I would never bet that they will ship by 15th. They didn't even mention anywhere why they stopped/slowed down prodction/shipping this week.

there can be a delay for shure but open communication is a must for a company which will be trustworthy especially if the company operates in a area with negative examples like BFL and AVALON.

So KNC say they have produced 700 units in 11 days of production.

Bitcoinorama said about a day or two ago they had 1000 left to produce

So they have an impossible task of producing 1000 in the next 3 days.

Knowing this, would they grace their customers with a revised estimate?? Tell us how many they are producing a day to give us an estimate when to expect our products? No.

(700 miners in 11 days - about 64 a day. 1000 left to do = 1000/64 = another 16 days to ship all units, bringing us up to 27th October).

But as you don't have the decency to update your customers KNC, I'll just assume it's still 15th October - as advertised.

That's 333 per day you need to keep your shipping pledge.

Or to keep your "over-deliver" tag line, it really needs to be done by the 14th.

500 per day. If you can't find it within yourselves to keep your customers informed KNC, get on with it.

Avenger, I think they also got the 15th as a production day since they can still ship out orders at the end of the day of October 15th. I still don't think they will come through even with using the 15th as well. I have e-mailed them several times by asking them to stop posting bs generic responses on their website and when replying to customers. They should be letting people know exactly where they are, its very easy to do. A simple one line on the website each day or every two days saying "We are working on paid dates June XX"

I am still hoping they can meet the deadline but I just highly doubt it.

If it was Avalon or BFL you would be now waiting for another 6 months or Never AVAlon and 12 months BFL

I will ask for refund if I don't get my "2nd day" order before 15th.

Before you ask for a refund, wait.

Ask for some other form of compensation and see what happens.

My guess is that we should hear something in the next 48 hours.

Perhaps Sam may decide to compensate us in BTC

or eat the cost of express shipping

Stay tuned.

If my order is still "In Progress" on the 16th, I'm demanding a refund. As far as I'm concerned, they've violated the terms of the agreement they set forth. Difficulty is going to explode as other companies start shipping units. If they're confident in the profitability of their units, they can mine with them themselves.

Title: Re: KNC Countdown to shipping all units - 15th October

So KNC would need to have produced about 350 units since I started this thread yesterday if they are going to meet their 15th October shipping pledge.

Care to share how many you did produce today KNC? Care to update your customers? Care to give us a revised schedule, based on the fact there is no fucking way you will ship all units by the 15th?

Or based on your how you've treated your customers up to now, let me guess - this is how it will work:

13th rolls around, no updates and you ignore all your customers (as usual).
14th rolls around, no updates and you ignore all your customers (as usual).
15th rolls around, no updates and you ignore all your customers (as usual) and they start to get angry.
16th rolls around, no updates and you ignore all your customers (as usual) and they get angrier.
17th rolls around, no updates and you ignore all your customers (as usual) and they get even angrier.
18th rolls around, no updates and you ignore all your customers (as usual) and all hell breaks loose?

Still nothing from KNC.

Let's talk about compensation. KNC have a legal contract, to ship ALL units by 15th.

If they fail to do so, then it's only fair they compensate their customers who are not mining because KNC made a promise they couldn't keep. Put your money where your mouth is KNC.

The data centre people got BTC for delays, so miners who get their unit shipped late deserve BTC to compensate for the delays in getting started mining.

We are losing BTC = compensation in BTC.

They claim on their website the Jupiter is 550GH/s machine, so at that speed, can currently mine 1.5BTC per day.

I think 1.5BTC per day late is fair compensation, until the next difficulty change and that figure can be adjusted.

I think they have no choice but to offer BTC compensation. The Sept/Oct orders cost more than the November orders, but November is getting very close.

So those peeps with a November order, when are they going to Jump in and cancel their orders because it could be December delivery for them.

I'm sort of confident I could request a refund under Distance Selling and the EU Consumer rights Directive (up to and including 7 Days after receiving the goods), but don't intend to play that card until I see how the Next 24 Hours play out.

Well I have emailed them as of 11:00 am UK time.

My order has been sitting at in-progress for a full 7 days.

I have requested the following.

An accurate indication on shipping.

Compensation for the delay (as they have already set a precedence for hosting customers).

I also informed them of my rights to request a full refund under Distance Selling and the EU Consumer Rights Directive.

Will post their reply (if and when they do).

Also, very interesting, from main KNC thread:

It is really easy for anyone to prove that the DETERMINING FACTOR into their purchase was the KNC statement posted on frontpage on their website that the orders will be delivered until Oct 15th. If KNC knew they would be late, that would mean they intentionally used false information in order to increase sells, which could probably incur really high fines or other penalties, going to criminal charges against company execs and their business licence being revoked. If they can prove they were really expecting to complete deliveries by Oct 15th and did all due diligence to accomplish that, they'd still have to compensate customers and/or fully refund their orders.
KNC is in no position to play fool now and they better choose their words VERY carefully when communicating next time with their customers.

From what you know, is there any good reason why the Shipping is perceived to have stalled. My own personal order has been stuck at in-progress for a full 7 days.

Any Info would be appreciated.

From what I understand from having just asked Emilia, once whichever part of the UPS order file the manufacturing facility opens, in order of paid queue placement, you then enter part of the automated assembly queue, and are assigned the relevant number of boards with respect to the model of machine(s) you have ordered.

In progress means the manufacturing facility has accepted the order to enter the production queue, therefore it's entered the assembly queue itself. From then on it either becomes marked as shipped, or you get your tracking ID and shipped is updated upon receipt. That all becomes part of the UPS software's ability to update you.

Some have apparently had their orders marked as shipped after receiving their tracking number, or pick up email.

I paid an additional USD 136.00 to have expedited delivery. I believe it was to be same day or overnight. I got my tracking number this morning but UPS has not yet received the unit for shipping. Would you be able to clarify if the delivery of my will be same day or next day?

Thank you.

You need to update your Clock for our time. 15th of October 6pm is in exactly 24 hours 30 minutes from now when i post. So simply you need to add 24 hours to the timer to be 100% correct according to your statement.

Look,  just before KNC the only really viable miner was Avalon batch#3. It took them 3 months to deliver with all their previous experience with batches 1 and 2 and when it finally arrived the hash rate was approx. 25% better than anticipated. Compare that with KNC with all the pros and cons and KNC is not doing so bad at all.

Reality check: if another company were to have produced a miner 2X-3X as fast for half the price and 1 month delivery from the time you pre-ordered, there would be so many units mining already the difficulty would be way, but way higher so likely about same profitability in the end! Many here are the asses following the carrot. I'm in for the fun and who knows perhaps make some if the dollar crashes in relation to the BTC and possibly gold as some of my BTC is going to gold. I really don't expect to become a millionaire but there is also a little hope, right? Part of the fun.

I too have noticed something weird with the clock. If you refresh it enough times, it will show the right time. For some reason it shows the wrong time, but after a few refreshes it shows the right time  ???

It's 7pm in Sweden right now and the clock shows 23 hours left to count down, so the time is right. 23 hours to go KNC!

All kinds of internet lawyers lurking aren't there? Only thing more prevalent than lawyers on forums, is assholes.

How'd things go while you were working in KNC customer service today? Learn anything?

I got the impression they simply changed the status to keep us calm
I am not totally sure when the status updated on my order but it was clearly between 6 to 7 days ago and still no information given
For me it will end in another not making back the money i paid for, what makes it all more sad is that they answered in a previous mail that the miner should we shipped before 15 october.
Its evening in europe and shipments are not being made at this time not anywhere, unless it was shipped to the service before 18:00 hours
After this time the arrived packages go into the distribution proces so they broke another promise they made.
But it would have been nice if i had seen a apology or any updated info, or any news for that matter.
Even though its not an BFL drama yet, we still are left in the dark and sadly are loosing hard needed mining days to get ROI
I am already sad that i did not cancel the order because for a freaking saturn you get now a jupiter for the same price

I got a Mercury and paid VAT.

The rumour about the delays is that they're a result of the power supply issues / popping capacitors. If that's true, they'd better resolve the issue pronto, or else we'd be better to just avoid the dangerous PSUs and receive dodgy devices.

Yes, that's true. I have no idea how many orders below 3000 have still not shipped. I can say that pretty much 99% of the ones over 3000 have not shipped yet.

My guesstimate - 2/3 of ALL orders have still not shipped by the date they widely, commercially pledged they would.

Production factory closes at 10pm every night and is closed over the weekend.

No wonder they are still pissing around turning out 70/day.

Order number has nothing to do with the queue.

It's final payment date.  You could order something in June, and complete payment, or finalise VAT details/payment in September.

Irrespective of your order number it's the completion of the total sum of payment that signifies the queue placement.

Also your above post is more FUD, you have no source in Sweden, neither do you have an order.

Marcus has been back in the factory since Saturday. The chips as well documented arrived on a Sunday to that very factory.

I don't recall you posting your order number etc. You claim to be a customer, you claim you have paid by credit card, but you never came clean with the details either.

You're not a KNCMINER employee but demand that others reveal confidential information to satiate your need for denigratory/abusive/manipulative behavior. Who gives you the right to even ask such questions? And if KNCMINER answer you, that's ground for legal action.

Stick to your role of unpaid reporter please.

You are desperate aren't you. Failing at your rant in the other thread you attempt to duplicate your unsubstantiated crap here.

Why would Marcus need to be present for a delivery? He doesn't.

He's been back at the manufacturing facility since Saturday. Production clearly does continue. The chips were originally delivered on a Sunday and the factory being open then is well documented.

It's apparent that KNC have vastly over-promised. I could almost accept that, if they'd admitted it in the last week and offered some new schedule for delivery.

But now it's 6pm in Sweden, close of business on 15th October and they have said nothing. Total blackout. Totally ignorance.

I guesstimate about half the orders have shipped by today. If that is correct, that leaves, say, 800 units, conservatively 700 jupiters at $8000 = $5.6 million worth of customers they are telling to go suck a d!@k.

Disgusting company, disgusting lack of communications, disgusting contempt shown for customers.

It's time for me anyway, to contact my credit card company.

I will say this one more time and once only.

I am a KNC customer. I have an order and it has not been delivered. As of today, it is still in "Paid" status.

I have no ties to any other bitcoin or bitcoin related company. I am being 100% straight up and honest. And I am not bullshitlabs Josh :)

As a courtesy to the decent people on this forum, I will post a photo of my miner when it arrives. You'll know the picture is from me, you certainly will.

And that's it.

This is my stance from now on - I don't have to answer to internet trolls or KNC shills.
P.S.

Please address the issue of Sam lying in a recorded interview (https://soundcloud.com/mindtomatter/e45-perspective-counts-lets) saying "We're selling to the general public" (which is a lie, contrary to KNC's own T&C's of sale) to generate sales. How does that makes you feel to be joining a company who use false pretenses and lies to generate sales? Will you enjoy being paid with money earned this way?

You keep avoiding this important fact and I think it's entirely necessary you address it.

They promised a certain date to deliver...they didn't...end of story. Welcome to the real world, where if a company lies and misses their targets then they are obligated to refund. Or where if they sell something that doesn't exist they are committing fraud.

The whole ASIC manufacturing community should stop being little babies and trying to fund their dodgy operations with customer money. This ain't kickstarter!! Put your money where your mouth is and fund it your bloody self, go to a bank, dodgy uncle, shady loan shark. Stop expecting factories in China (this may or may not apply to KFC miner, frankly i don't GAF)  to delivery your pcb boards on time. If you have never been there and seen them face to face or stepped in their office, then you are going to get the bare minimal of service. Everyone knows this about China factories. You have got to go there and take them out for dinner. Then you will suddenly find parts being delivered on time without delays.

Avenger has every right to be pissed off.

The funny part about this is that a lot of people ended up making MORE BTC by BFL's late shipping.  If BFL had shipped on time and at the quantities stated last October, difficulty would have spiked faster than it has lately and you'd have had a year of little to no earnings compared to what you did get.  I calculated that an FPGA Single mining from Oct 1 to the date the first actual single shipped and then that single mining until today would have made about 12% more BTC compared to a rough guess at BFL's orderbook and a 60Gh single delivered Oct 1 would have made to date.

Most people with BFL orders would have preferred not to have made any money a year ago, rather than wait a year to discover that unfortunate truth.

What that BFL is a scam?

Well, sort of. BFL, along with every other ASIC manufacturer has sold a volume of equipment that cannot recoup costs given the fixed block reward amount at any realistic BTC exchange rate. I would have preferred to have known that last year, rather than this year, as a BFL customer.

BFL was late a year, and KNC is getting crap by missing their deadline, so far by a day for part of their orders. Amazing. How did Avalon do for batch 2, 3?

I sure would prefer KNC make sure things don't catch on fire and push back delivery a little. I'm not too hot on the idea of having to swap replacement parts with them in Sweden.

Wow... he has to delete posts in his other thread if he doesn't agree with them, even if they make sense.

Guess I'll post reasoning in this one where he can't delete it.

I didn't even read this in the other thread, I just saw your name and DELETE. I'm not interested in anything you have to say. Post whatever you want, you will just be making work for the mods to clean up.

Why you just do not call the business department in Sweden, just tell them one of registered company break the customers rules, you gets a tips what to do and maybe they'll get visit  :P
This is an incredibly good idea that I never even though of. You don't have a link do you? If not, I can google it.

Thanks for your suggestion madsusies.

Posting reason? Just because you have your pussy hurt because KNC didn't get yours delivered the DAY they promised to (not a year later like BFL) you are just trying to bully your way to the front of the list.

Surprise, there are others that paid for their order before yours that deserve them first. Stop shilling for other ASIC companies and get ready for your device you gigantic cry baby.

Interesting how you see my posts if you supposedly have me on ignore...

fuck bfl - why do you chumps keep comparing???

'so you got hit by a speeding motorbike - it could've been a truck, so lighten up'

douches!!

legally we are due compensation for broken contractual agreements.

only someone with ulterior motives would defend inaction & deception.

whilst ignoring pages and pages of polite requests for true information

it is getting to the point where the only option left is to report the company for fraud.

NOBODY wants to make more problems, but NOBODY deserves to be ignored and or mocked

so he doesn't have an order???

i DO - and its been in progress for a week!!

it was 'burnt in' with a ton of errors 14 hours ago...

will it ship with 4 or 8 VRMs?

will the chips be disabled or throttled?

will the beaglebone/pcb be able to handle 4 chips?

is this even the right place to ask, or is it merely an invitation to more online muppetry??

e2a - within an hour of posting this i have been updated via courier service.

no word from KnC regarding updates nor my questions posed here & in emails.
