Title: Bitcointalk Registrations closed-off since Oct 10, 2013
Post by: min0r on October 13, 2013, 05:02:00 PM
Hello,

A friend of mine who is interested in posting on these forums, emailed me and mentioned that registrations seem to be closed-off.

On the offset it looks like an error, however I am wondering if the powers that be decided to stop at 150k members!

Was there a reason for the shutdown?

New registrations are processed by US Federal Government employees who are currently furloughed.

Recently the forum has been hacked; admins are still sorting things out.

You sound so serious I'm starting to believe you  :-X

The line you just posted has absolutely NO meaning.  Should you be worried about accounts that are marked as scammers?

English isn't my first language. I meant, should I be worried that these accounts got compromised because of the recent attack and change my account information?

Looks like its still closed, they are taking it down to fix something. Not taking it down permanently so don't worry.

Registration is temporarily closed. It should be back up soon, so there's no need for worry.

That happened ages ago, it is not related to the recent hack.

Didn't say it was.  But it's related to the OP of this thread.

As pointed out barely 5 posts ago (http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20131014/08210124863/key-internet-institutions-ditch-us-leadership-brazil-to-host-global-summit-to-draw-up-new-governance-model.shtml), that is because it is a compromised account.  Whoever originated this thread is probably trying to establish another account for less than honorable purposes.  He'll have to wait like everyone else.
