What do you think about the idea that the forum management creates an ecosystem through a simple cryptocurrency which is not for selling or buying ? In my opinion, it would be very enjoyable to see such an initiative from the forum management.

Why? Bitcointalk has "released" the first crypto currency - BITCOIN.

Bitcoin is older than the forum.


If it's not for selling than Merit itself is a currency here. Sendable merits are smerits which when sent are permanently assigned to wallet of the receiver as merit but the two are not exchangable. Though I'd love to seem more experimentation with this system.

Nice idea but thinking on it if theymos will make or launch a btt currency is not inevitable. If you are going to buy or sell make transactions post advertisements you can use directly in bitcoins or other accepted cryptocurrency. Bitcointalk focus more on its whole informational forum and not in creating crypto for buying and selling.

It's possible, everyone and every group of people of organizations can create their own blockchain and Crypto there's no limit.
I think it's more effective than other New Altcoins and ICOs that are being raised in other part of the world.
Bitcointalk Coin/Token is one of the most promising because most of the members in this forum are most likely will support this Coin for sure.

If the bitcointalj relase and make a new cryptocurrency then it have no choice it need ti compete in the other coins. I can really imagine if bitcoin is not for selling or buying. As we know that most people use bitcoin for earning money and much profit. Automatically, if btc is not for selling and buying, there will be money. Means that it is not cryptocurrecy or digital currency. I think there will be no one use bitcoin.

There have been a couple of coins using the bitcointalk name, and as you can guess they have not taken off, perhaps an official one could actually do really well, could tie the coin in with the Merit system as an example, i doubt it will happen though.

This is a strange and unusual question to create a utility coin for this forum.

We need to ask the following questions in the first place why we need it in the first place:

- What is the purpose of this utility token?
- How do we acquire them?
- And more...

If Bitcointalk releases its own currency. I think the forum will be the place to advertise their money, there will be no room for other digital coin to exist on the forum. And we will lose a potential place to trade Crypto. I hope this does not happen.

Can you tell me what was the purpose to issued bitcointalk own cryptocurrency? If there is no advantage and why could we do that? if there is no purpose for the token and it should not exist.

I don't think to understand the history of this forum, the currency of these forum is BTC, it was created by Satishi himself, is it because now they have allowed Altcoins section to strive in the space and other tokens are allowed to strive. BTC is the currency of this forum and I don't think the moderators or people in charge now will think about creating new tokens

No, because the bitcointalk forum and bitcoin are founded by satoshi nakamoto and operate under its license. I don't think they could have created their own currency and that would violate some of the codes of ethics or commitments that had been made before.

Yes, if bitcoin can't be used again or no one wants to use it again. So it can be ascertained they will look for other solutions to maintain the continuity of the bitcointalk forums to educate the new generation to come through as well.

I think it will helpful for everyone, especially for me. I would buy such a coin. Maybe for these coins, I could buy "merit" and finally raise my rank.

Bitcoin is a currency which has a forum called bitcointalk. This forum was created by the inventor/creator of bitcoin. There is no need in creating another coin as I dont see the application of that token. If it is done, the implication would be unimaginable. I cant imagine the use case of such a token. And bear in mind that it will be called an ALTCOIN.

I don't think there is any necessity for that and if at all there would be then probably I believe will be a chaos and more discussions will be held on that than Bitcoin. Mods will have to clean more of spam than there is already.. This is a Bitcoin forum and it serves its purpose well enough. Merit is already giving people shills and god knows what would happen it there was a coin to add on top of it.


Exactly. Releasing coins as been a big joke lately. Titty coin, ass coin, dick coin and what not! If you look at CMC from the bottom up you will have a good laugh looking at the names itself. Even dying companies like Kodak have found a way to revive themselves or I guess to exit scam by launching their own coin with no purpose and increase their stock values.

Haha i like the name Merritcoin advise  :D I dream a limited amount of currency that works for such reputation in the forum as well as the personal and corporate advertising payment method that you can buy and sell only in the forum. Dream as a special form of in-forum advertising for the forum members. There are many members who placed their personal websites, services or platforms in their signatures. After you get this currency, your ads will be shown on the main page. After all, it seems like there are close to 2 million registered users here. This forum is a great market for personal ads i think

I do not know the foundation date of bitcointalk forum. I have joined to btctalk in 2015. But it was 2012 when I used bitcoin for the first time. I bought some goods from Deepnet.

I think if there is a positive purpose behind the creation of coin in this forum of course everyone will be enthusiastic. But not easily needed deeper socialization. This is just my opinion.

If I can buy some merit points with the token I am all in. They really should get that fixed. I do not have any clue how to collect the merit points needed for senior member status and that is kind of disappointing.

I noticed that there is a bitcointalk coin, thanks to hdtqisg. They don't need to create another one. Maybe they can add personal ads functionality to btctalk coin. Hope to see an upgraded 2.0 version of it.

Bitcointalk was only created to discuss about the bitcoin and the name itself says 'bitcoin''talk'.So I don't think there is no chance to introduce new crypto for the purpose of bitcointalk.

Just go and make some useful contribution to the forum with good quality posts then you can earn merits,never try to buy or sell your merit points then you will be tagged for merit abuse.

I do not think this period of ICO frenzy is going to be right. Also, because the forum does not provide any kind of shopping service, its usage area is narrow, or it may not receive serious support for investment. This is not the reason why the forum is of poor quality, but as I said, it depends on the use of the coin to be produced. Maybe it may be interested in the idea that the usage area may be wide, but if the project fails, the forum users will be unstable. It is not necessary for that reason.

Same here, I am trying to write constructive, informative posts and focus on areas where I have gained some experience and knowledge that I believe is valuable. Among the +100 posts since the release apparently there is not one that deserves at least 1 merit. On the other hand, I have passed on 3 of the 4 Merit I had to others which is almost nothing either. Not sure if they even took notice.

Gamification looks different to me.

I probably also would consider to get the currency if you could exchange it with merit or other things thst can add value to your user experience, for instance being able to give more merit to others who write great posts, access to hidden sections of the forum or mobile app.

I don!t understand what do you mean because the word currency represents both buying and selling then for you it will not be use in this purposes. So i think you should be more specific of your ideas for our common understanding here.

If the bitcointalk management decide to realease its own coin,sure this will be embrace by lots of people and bougth off from presale,bitcointalk has a major impactful problem they are solving in the crypto space,it wont be a bad idea to release its own currency

Actually thats a great idea,but managing and making your own ICO project is needs an big capital,and a big team of working together for the success of the project,and finding also a product is so hards especially when talking about the relevant in ecosystem thats become marketable.maybe the  forum can do this making there own currency ,but for me its better that,its stay only like this,so that  they can focus to help us become better idealistic bitcoiner in this  forum community and help much  more become productive.

Maybe this is a good idea and it is partially implemented in this forum thanks to the "merit" system)) Perhaps soon this will be translated into a blockchain basis. This will be the first forum on such a system. Simple Machines Forum + Blockchain, hell yeah ;D

Yes this is indeed right,theymos is somehow connected to satoshi that is why theymo's identity doesnt have any information in google,its for their protection that is why they are hiding into shadows,and yes bitcointalk was the main topic discussions here from the start,the altcoins are somehow new to this forum.

It's already been done twice, One was POW (sha26) and the other was POS then they tried to revive both and swap the POW on to POS as well IIRC

Give us good reason why would bitcointalk create is own altcoins? because bitcointalk has already bitcoin,this forum was created by the founder of bitcoin satoshi nakamoto,infact he has account here in bitcointalk if you dont know,you can search his account you will find that the last date he logged in was in 2010 before ge disappeared.

IMO, Bitcointalk will be no generated crypto for their own just because the admin, as well as mod, will not have time to manage and make that coin :)),  the admin team has to spend the time to take care of forum as well as their personal life. So the Bitcointalk forum will not have their crypto :)))

This is indeed right,the mods and theymos cannot handle the forum itself,because they have many things to do moderators cannot monitor all of the posts here so it means they dont have enough time to get and create the bitcointalk altcoin,but the main concern is this forum was created for bitcoin users not for these altcoins.

I don't think it'll happen :). Bitcointalk admin and all other moderators are too busy to find out the way to make this forum better and fight against cheaters ruining this forum. Beside they also have a real life to take care so do you think they still have time to create and run a new project for a new coin/token? I don't think so :)

Some associate new merit system with forum tokenisation, but it's just talking. Selling merit is prohibited, but some things look very alike the currency.

We have already,its called the BITCOIN yep its bitcointalk's cryptocurrencies that is why this forum are the bible of cryptocurrencies because satoshi himself created this forum together with bitcoin not so long ago before her disappeared,2010 was the last login of the founder of this forum that is why we dont need any altcoin for bitcointalk.

I am also a little active on another forum which is called Altcoinstalks. They have their own token which you receive for being active on the forum. I don’t think that this would be a good idea for Bitcointalk, since there are already too many shot posters on here  ;D.

It will be a very good idea and many of us will invest in it. I think if bitcointalk release it own coin that coin will be of the great value and it might over take ethereum and others. We would all promote it free of charge and some of us may be willing to donate money for the development of such project .

In order to control the shit posters, bitcointalk forum has launched the merit system in this way they can easily control the flow of members. Once they are controlling people will not able to upgrade their member they will stay in Jr.member until they get desired merits.

In my opinion, the issueing of such a cryptocurrency is a reverse movement to the purpose and policy of bitcointalk. Already there are over 2000 cryptocurrencies on the crypto market. There is no need for more.

I dont believe that it is going to happen. This forum was created for bitcoin. And Satoshi was writing his ideas here. Of course guys who joined here in early times created their own cryptocurrency but not backed by forum. They cannot create a coin which is owned by forum. It is my opinion.

I think the creators are probably not finding this ideal resulting from bad conception. I would be very careful with that proposed token as it would anyway follow BTC price probabl.

Bitcointalk´s community relased Bitcoin - if I am correct. But if they relase new coin, it is more possible that it will be fork rather than etherum token, but why? Only for hype? This probably will not happen.

It was on bitcoin.org domain first, then changed multiple times. Basically Bitcointalk has the currency Bitcoin, which is the greatest crypto currency ever.

I agree with this. In my opinion, I don't think we need one for us. Everything goes well here in bitcoin forum and another coin for this is not that necessary for us because we have been communicating because of different altcoins and talking about their success or failure. We are good here in bitcointalk and if we avoid additional features then it means we will encounter less conflict.

I do not think that is official coin created by admins here, or? I think it is unofficial coin created by community here, and it doesnt have any value, only using this forum name, but without any features...

Actually the idea is not new, but I do not find it interesting because in this forum all the developers of cryptocurrency and tokens come here to share their ideas, who would be suspicious of having to face the competition of an altcoin when offering a bounty to members of the forum. And that altcoin would be centralized in a few individuals who have shown total control of the forum.

It would be an interesting project, I would carefully observe the development of the token, the Bitcoin forum.  But what product will be the goal of the project?

Please of what use will the currency be to the forum members, are we gonna use it to buy already made forum features or new features which the currency will be used for will be created? i don't see the reason for bitcointalk currency creation.

That’s a good idea. Just like steemit, hoping bitcointalk will immitate steemit site where our post when being merited will gave us profit.This way maybe bitcointalk management will have to produced and launched their own coin or token maybe.

probably quite a good idea and can be a great thing on crypto. However this board I think it is better to act as containers and bridge the information on many existing cryptos only. It's better than having to participate in issuing coins of its own even though it was also pretty good potential to be realized.

Bitcoin seems to be a currency of bitcointalk, I think that's more than enough for a cryptocurrency market because now there are a lot of cryptocurrency in the market ,it can be forgotten if it has no benefit to the market .

Various questions certainly arise, even though the idea is good enough but this certainly can have a negative impact too. This forum has helped to achieve success with bitcoin and also provides a great opportunity to continue working and potentially with the presence of the project.

I think Btt will not have its own cryptocurrency because if it has, it's just a new bad altcoin because i can't see a efficiency Tokenization and Tokenomic model for it. And sure, theymos will not do that. The failure of Btt's coin will lead to the disruption of Btt forum.

Not sure what purpose that would serve as the forums currency for buying and selling is what its based upon (Bitcoin) and there's a merit system members can use to reward each other for good quality posts but apart from that anything else would be more useful for promoting your own product or service

If bitcointalk will create it's own currency then for what it will be the purpose of the currency if it's not used for selling or buying ? I think if bitcointalk will do so then they have many supporters because of their good conduct coming from it's users. We all know that this forum serves as the way of promoting ICO and bounties where can bounty hunters and investors can earn profits.

Bitcoin for me is already a currency so no need for arguing this because I think this would not be happen anymore.

In my opinion, a cryptocurrency that cannot be bought or sold has no value and makes no sense. Merit fits perfectly into the ecosystem of the forum and it does the job. Another question is that this ecosystem needs to be improved and it is very difficult to get a high-rank measure.

I think the Bitcointalk forum is the world's largest encryption forum because it's free and unselfish. If it issues a cryptocurrency, it may mean it will charge! This will cause Bitcointalk to lose some believers!

I think it is going to be a great coin, because Bitcointalk has a real product for a pretty long period of time and it is the main forum for everything in the crypto space. I have no doubts that this coin will be very successful.

Please let this never happen. There is already so much spam in this forum that if it was to release a crypto, there will surely be a tenfold increase in spam. How else will it be distributed if not by activity and seniority? Of course, if the forum develops a really good system to detect quality and award tokens accordingly,,, then maybe it can be considered.

But look at Steemit model. Full of tweaks and advanced algorithms but it still sucks and people cheat it every day.

Bad idea, I think if bitcointalk releases its own crypto, it will lead to the demise of the forum. This is where we all discuss freely and don't need so many commercial activities.
In fact, this idea has been proposed by many people, but the opponents are more and more, and everyone is not willing to see bitcointalk so degraded.

Bitcointalk coin will not more effect to the bitcoin because bitcoin is the strong and basic need of crypto world. But some where bitcointalk coin may come in the run up of crypto market and also make some position in the crypto and that coin will more sell out by the help of bitcointalk forum.
