Title: AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 18.3.4 vs Crimson?
Post by: willtopia on March 27, 2018, 08:32:13 PM
Anyone used the latest AMD Driver for RX series on Claymore ETH?
Does it offer better hashrate than Crimson?  they suppose fixed the low hashrate from previous driver? ???

I've been using it for 2 days and it's working fine.
I used this tool to change the driver for compute mode:

No hash rate difference from the previous 18.3.3 driver for my two RX 570/580 rigs. It may fix some issues with Vegas though.

yeah it fixed that vega rigs dont work anymore...i tried it on 2 vega rigs...everything ends up with bluescreen or instant miner hangup ;D
reference design vegas get mostly error 43 too, red devil vegas crash instant or not found by device manager...
i go back to blockchain driver.
fuck you amd

In the release notes they do mention this might decrease some blockchain performance.

I'm going to try it on my 570 rig this weekend

No performance loss x blockchain drivers or any other driver that supports compute workload mode. This driver is good if you want to run more than 8 gpus and for that you will also need the windows 10 64 bit version 1709.

How about power consumption, improved ?

my 6gpu AMD rig will not work with Adrenaline since MSI afterburner will give me problems to detect all of them, so i only use blockchain drivers

I think it was ok with 3 cards. But the moment you try 4, msi afterburner will give problems with adrenaline drivers.

I never use new drivers. Why do you need it? You have a old drivers? On the other hand who can tell that after updating of the driver it noticed improvement of work of GPU or increase in hashrate? In order for the equipment to work well, I once configured and banned all updates. Forget about the new drivers forever.

I can confirm with Claymore 11.5, I was getting about 31.9 MH/s on my 6 x RX470 rig with custom BIOS, but now I'm getting 27.6 MH/s about 12% less. Seems more consistent in terms of speed. The power draw is now lower too.

Also my rig froze today after a 10 days of work. I will keep the new drivers and see how the rig will behave in the next couple of weeks.

Last minute correction: changed dcri to auto detect and I'm getting 31.9MH/s again! Power draw increased a bit...

I see no changes in hashrate.

Guys I have a 8 rx vega rig, just updated the 18.3.4 drivers and I cant seem to get MSI Afterburner to work , everything is just grayed out...I did a ddu, installed the drivers, then after burner still all grayed out.

Ever since AMD switched to the Compute drivers Afterburner won't work with more than 3 cards. You can set the overclock/undervolt/fan settings directly in the Claymore config or create overclocking profiles for your cards using OverdriveNtool as explained on www.mining.help. If you want to keep using Afterburner you need to use the August blockchain drivers, which are also limited to 8 cards.

sapphire rx580 pulse edition 6 cards
upgraded from blockchain beta drivers to 18.3.4, getting a bit more hashrate (16 in total from 6 cards) and lower power usage (around 6 watt less per card).

Seems worth it if power usage is lower  ;D

I have been using (Win10-64Bit-RV-AM4-Radeon-Software-Adrenalin-Edition-Q2-2018-May17) for my gaming pc/mining rig while still using the beta blockchain driver for 6 gpu dedicated mining rigs.

For dual purpose PCs, the Adrenalin driver is simply brilliant! I crossfire my sapphire nitro+ rx580s 8gb while gaming, go back to compute mode when I am done. However, when it comes to power consumption, these 2 cards are pulling 99w-100w each (msi ab) while mining at 30.4mh/s (Samsung memory) and on the other gaming rig 31.3mh/s (Hynix memory). The hashrate improved after upgrading to Claymore's miner v11.7 which is running on all rigs (gaming/mining).

When it comes to dedicated mining rigs, I think the beta blockchain driver is still the best option. Its very stable, each gpu consumes 85-90w (msi ab) while mining at 30.4mh/s with Clamore's v11.7.

I am downloading 18.3.4 now. Hoping to get better gaming performance with this.

Update: It sucks!

My pc is lagging, 2nd gpu consumes 130w (msi ab) for the first 1-2 hrs, then comes down to 99 (same as the first gpu). 2nd gpu's led flashes after every 5 seconds when idle, its just crap! going back to Q2 which is the most stable one I guess.

Actually it says

Fixed Issues
  • Some blockchain workloads may experience lower performance than expected when compared to previous Radeon Software releases.

19.1.1 give me very low hash on rx570's like 15 hash Going back to blockchain.

I tried today version 19.1.1. It gives lower hashrate, no fan control on Claymore 12.0 and latest Phoenix miner. I reinstalled AMD 18.5.1. drivers.
