atually radiation can affect electrical equipment... just a human would die way before the computer..

When I visited SWISS, I noticed that almost all apartment complexes had concrete bikers built right into them ;)

There are a ton of bunkers in Switzerland, thanks to a somewhat weird law that there has to be bunker-space for every inhabitant in the case of a nuclear attack or an event of similar magnitude. Some bunker complexes are small towns, being able to house thousands of people with facilities such as churches built in.

actual a solar flare strong enough (X100+++++) can destroy all running electronic circuits via strong static electricity in the atmosphere. FYI the largest known solar flare in the mid 19th century gave people static electric shocks when touching metal and destroyed many telex and phone lines. No one can predict when such a flare will occur, it may not happen in our lifetime, but it will happen sooner or later. By the way, anything that register bits via magnetic impression will be erased (e.g. hard disks). This is not a doomsday conspiracy, humans will continue as usual......living in the caves.

We are working on that aswell. By now we use redundant Swiss networks that are currently avalable, but you can see at devda.ch that the next generation networking is allready in work.
