After several months of research, I took the plunge and got myself a wallet!!

I am now waiting for my info to get cleared, so I can place a BTC order :3

I am beyond excited, and even though my account shows big fat zeros, I am somehow feeling huge and grinning ear to ear :)

Well, it's the idea of myself being in control of my own "money".

Also, I love to try out new and exciting things! I am going so far in my dreaming right now as to imagine selling my own trade items (arts and crafts) for Bitcoins exclusively, to help support the emergence of the trade ^_^

I might be too fast here though, as I am very very new :)

If you want to open your own online store I have seen this shop software intergrated with bitcoin:

http://www.prestashop.com/

Here's an example of it in use:

Thank you! ^_^

And yes, I am very conscious. My wallet is on blockchain, and I have the infos stored right.
Once I'm done with the whole faucet thing, I'll be switching my BTC address. :)

I will be setting up an offline wallet as well, where I'll transfer my BTCs once it's more serious (e.g. when my first purchase of BTC goes through).

Can wallets get hacked and stolen?

Yes they can... It doesn't happen much but some viruses are wallet stealers that steal wallet.dat files... Wallets that are stored on local machines are safer than online wallets though.

I am planning on getting my mom into Bitcoins now! :D She's very adventurous herself, and she'd be a perfect candidate :D

Am I allowed to share my public address here? If not, then please mods, take it away :)
Here it is: 19feMU2AyhCjyVkh6PGQSLZt3VBDw1xmgG

I've been putting this into the faucets. ^_^ I went through the captcha sites again, and am up to 3 cents now ^_^

EDIT: Oh my god, I just called faucets "fixtures" on Reddit :D Hahahaha :D

Oooooh a whole dollar! Wow! Thank you!

It'd take me like 3 days to get that much on the free sites, haha :D

I'll log in and check now! ^_^

You guys are gonna make my excitement shoot through the roof, and I'm already like a newly adopted puppy :)

This is the first time I ever receive anything. How long does it take? What time can I count on?
I couldn't find out about that. If my mom will be half as excited as I am, I want to send her a little bit, so she can be fully as excited :D

EDIT: Nevermind, I was just reading the BTC FAQs and it says 10 minutes :3

*keeps refreshing*

My first moneys! ^_^

You're welcome; it's a negligible amount but it'll keep growing.  I first learned about BTC when it was hardly $15 a piece.  I remember charging a person 6$ worth of BTC for a painting when I first joined this site, and now that's $100.

This is the first time I ever receive anything. How long does it take? What time can I count on?

It'll usually take an hour before the transaction has 6 confirmations; that's a block solved every 10 minutes, just about.  By the first confirmation it's practically yours, and the rest are for security.  As Bitcoin is basically a distributed ledger, it depends on all clients to agree on which transactions occurred; the more confirmations, the more you can rest assured they did indeed occur.  Six seems to be the magic number; I suppose it fits well within an hour so that's the one that was decided on.

Digital; here's a link (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=135163.0) to my page.  Once you're out of the newbie section, you could try your hand at selling your services to earn BTC.

I use SAI sometimes, too ^_^

I really should use SAI more often; I'm currently using PSCS6 for all my work, but I use it for a very specialized purpose and though it is a versatile tool, it can be a little odd to navigate through all the features I never use.  With SAI, it moves all those distractions out of the way and leaves very little between the artist and his medium, which is always nice.  I used it for a long while but I can't remember why I stopped.

I also love SAI for the ability to clean up lines and move them into place exactly how I want, without the funny twists of the pen tool in Photoshop.

Damn, you make me want to draw now, and it's almost 2 am :)

Yes idd, just don't lose your wallet or forget the password if you secure it.
My first wallet is locked without key with 0.0050 btc just sitting inside it, from when I started lol.
Faucets back then gave a lot more than now ;)

Haha! If I do, I will :D

But then I'd probably start giving away a dollar or two to every person who signs up and uses BTC. :D When you're a millionaire, you can afford to try and introduce people to BTC with more than "OMGOMG THIS IS SO AWESOME!!" :)

And yes, I got like 2 cents for putting in 19 captchas. Those are a bitch to read, not worth it for anything more than just getting your wallet to not say 0.00000000! :)

There are a lot of different aspects to the bitcoin world.

Trading, mining and shopping are the for me the 3 main categories with lots of stuff inside each one.

Which are you interested it?

Title: Re: So excited!!
Post by: Leanna on November 03, 2013, 05:43:08 PM
I am mainly interested in receiving BTC for services I provide, then using BTC as currency or to hang onto it.

I looked into mining, but frankly it confuses me, and I don't have a mining machine (nor can I purchase one) anyway.
I heard about shared mining that can run on laptops, but I haven't been able to figure it out :)

Title: Re: So excited!!
Post by: mogrith on November 03, 2013, 06:55:42 PM
as has been said here Bitmit is a ebay type store. https://www.bitmit.net/en/recent (https://www.bitmit.net/en/recent)
or try bitdazzle for a more formal store https://bitdazzle.com/ (https://bitdazzle.com/)

Or go on your own website like these
http://bitbrew.net/ (http://bitbrew.net/) for coffee
http://knives4bitcoin.com/ (http://knives4bitcoin.com/) for a knife.
http://www.baddogfarms.net/ (http://www.baddogfarms.net/) for homemade soaps

I have bought from all but Bitdazzle

For shared mining search for cex.io threads in the forum. You buy GH/s it mines as part of the pool, you get the BTC it makes. You can sell the GH/s back later if you want. Note the sell price might be lower than the buy and the amount you get from 1GH/s is better than a faucet but not by a whole lot.

Title: Re: So excited!!
Post by: Leanna on November 04, 2013, 02:37:42 AM
Sooo after reading quite a bit about mining, I don't think that's something for me.

I only have a laptop that's a desktop replacement and it'd overheat in a minute if I'd try to mine with it, and I don't want to do anything with those mining cubes (can't remember what they're called).

Now I am concentrating on trying to figure out what to sell for BTC. :)
What's the demographic of BTC users? Are there a lot of females? How about guys with girlfriends or daughters?

I have some items I craft that younger women, teenagers and little girls especially seem to like, and wonder how much I could sell them for, or even if anyone would buy them.

That brings me to my question. Is there a place that's like etsy, but for Bitcoin? :)

EDIT: Apparently bitdazzle.com is like Etsy. Now the question is, how big of a cut they take and would people buy my stuff? :)
