Up for 14 days and everything running fine.  Block every 2 minutes so low power miners can score blocks.

More seriously though:
I realize the info in OP isnt meant for newbies but how do you use that data?

lol i was thinking like 0.001/btc each lol! I dont have that many

In OP he's telling what algorithm this coin uses (SHA256), how long it should theoretically take for a new block to appear (2 Minute Block Targets), How many coins per block and when that blocks reward will devalue( 25 Coins Per Block, Halving in 4 Year Increments (every 1051200 blocks) Minimal reward = 1), And how the difficulty changes so blocks are created ideally at the 2 Minute mark ( Progressive Difficulty Adjustment with 80 block look-behind and max 5% diff adjust per.) The next is the recommend ports for use with mining rpc is for solo and p2p  is for connecting to peers, The line after that tell about the block information (ie, timestamp and merkel root) and default conf is where you put the config file you make in notepad that configs the wallet.

The setup for solo mining this coin is the same as others.
1. install wallet &make config file
2. point miners to mine at localhost:port
3. ????
4. Profit

Hope this helps

25 Coins Per Block, Halving in 4 Year Increments (every 1051200 blocks) Minimal reward = 1

I am getting 10 Coins per block not 25 when solo mining.  Are you sure it is not 10?

We are doing heavy promotion outside of bitcointalk.  We have troption holders now in Russia, Ireland, Norway, Switzerland, Kenya, and Australia, and of course USA.

We would very much like a pool, and would be grateful if you would do this.

We also have a site that is popular in China that has almost 100 thousand registered users of which many are businesses.

Investment is being made and Troptions are also being negotiated to be used with several Barter organizations.

As it turns out Cryptsy is in our neighborhood so we have visited them and have asked for their consideration.

Thanks for you post, and look forward to the possibility of a pool.

Lee

P. S.  New easy newbie setup at www.Troptions.org for the block erupter and Bfgminer with autoconfiguration.

Liking this coin, just started mining a little. A better block explorer would be a good first step to turning this into a reputable coin!

The block explorer has had some down times.  We are working on it, and would appreciate any referrals to someone that might want to create another block explorer for Troptions.

You might also use the statistics at the pool:  http://trp.ispace.co.uk (http://trp.ispace.co.uk)

Also working on paper wallet creation and could use some help there also.

Please contact your favorite exchange and ask for Troptions to be added.

If you used the installation executable form Troptions.org it will install in root of c: in folder Troptions unless you chose another directory.  The shortcut has the correct command without having to setup a .conf file, however, if you do not use the default directory, the shortcut will not work unless you change it or set up a .config file.

Post if you still need help.

Once the client is loaded up, you can go to Console, click console tab, and type "addnode 69.85.86.195 add" and this will add a node.

Another is available here: addnode 69.163.38.82 add

Yea, it's constantly lagged and I am not convinced you get awarded the correct amount because of it.

For instance, right now:

Time Since Last Block   3 hours 41 minutes 36 seconds

When I can guarantee that there has been many blocks found since 4 hours ago.

There are more people, so far, that are solo mining than with the pool, however, soon the pool will be needed.

Email Cryptsy to be put on exchange, they already have been physically visited, and are just waiting, I guess.

GreenTreeFinancial in Florida and North Carolina are also waiting for exchange and ready to buy, buy, buy, so put your request into Cryptsy and other exchanges.

I have created an installation file that will automatically create a startup configuration for your Troption wallet to run in server mode; will install bfgminer; start it and the wallet also.

I do not think it could be easier.  It is intended for asic block explorers, so if you want to use other hardware, you just need to close bfgminer after it starts and create a shortcut with the proper parameters for bfgminer.exe.

If you need details on how to create shortcut or more, please post.

I'm not sure what you need for mac? If you have bfgminer, you can point your miner to the ispace pool. Am I missing something?

I have created an installation file that will automatically create a startup configuration for your Troption wallet to run in server mode; will install bfgminer; start it and the wallet also.

I do not think it could be easier.  It is intended for asic block explorers, so if you want to use other hardware, you just need to close bfgminer after it starts and create a shortcut with the proper parameters for bfgminer.exe.

If you need details on how to create shortcut or more, please post.

Any news on updates/pools/exchanges?
The best thing you can do is put a request in or forum posting for Troptions (TRP) be added to exchange at Crypsty.com, Vicurex.com, BTer.com, Coins-e.com, etc.

It matters. Please take a few minutes and do so.

The current troptions website is very amateurish, can we invest in getting a more professional one up and running. It certainly won't hurt the chances of getting the coin added to an exchange.

Title: Re: [ANN] Troptions SHA256 Just Launched

I do know that the guy who did it is working his ass off to add all kinds of infrastructure...paper wallets, Apple support, android smart phone transfers, talking to investors, working on getting a second seed node, etc. The guy is busier than a one legged man in a butt kicking contest, or a one eyed man in a nudist camp or a one armed wall paper hanger or...well hell you get the idea.

Do a want to put together a currency pool to hire someone to do it?
I"ll chip in Troptions! That is the only one I have enough of.

I'll chip in web traffic up to 1 million clicks per day.

Thoughts?

New logo + website certainly wouldn't hurt. I'm no designer, but I can certainly build a site (I do it for a living) if needed. Willing to donate time/resources as needed to help as well, just let me know.

Thank You for the offer.  The plan is to improve client graphics and logo in the next client upgrade as able.

The word Troption and logo comes from the words Trade and Options, as in offering a way for Barter organizations, local organizations, or other local economies to have a secure and fluid method to do business without corruption and high costs.  We are looking for ways to establish local values riding on top of the Troption block chain and not necessarily affect the established price for other organizations.  Ideas are always welcome.

Not all things are obvious and I suppose there should be more updates.  Nonetheless, here is some of the recent news:

  • Site updated with news widget and some color and formatting changes just yesterday
  • Faucet is monitored, funded and many Troptions are requested daily
  • Pool now seems to be stable with many users as well as solo miner connections
  • Programmers are paid and at work as we speak to create a clone of block explorer for verifying troptions
  • Programmers are paid, however, having some challenges creating a paper wallet
  • There are conference calls every week to develop the property protocols and local currency ideas that are available in the latest QT client we intentionally used
  • Troptions were not only not premined but had small amount only for the first 1000 blocks
  • The several individuals who released Troptions are committed to the development of the block chain for its many uses including smart property, multi sig, escrow, proof of, etc
  • We have placed Odesk jobs looking for specialists to help with building the infastructure
  • We are contacting exchanges, visited one exchange, and are looking for help to create a version for Android and a clone of html CoinPunk for browsers and IOS

If anyone has the skills to work with this protocol and make the appropriate changes we are open and committed to bounty or payment or donations or a thanks, please contact us.

The founders also have several other active bitcoin related sites and do not want to do promotions in this thread, however, to show that things are being done, we have recently created an auction type site where anyone can offer ANY alt currency for trade with no fees.  It is brand new, but could serve a purpose for those coins not yet on an exchange.  That site is www.BidOnCrypto.com

There have been requests about getting on exchanges, and to be quite frank, I would like to see it, however, without making this post too long let me just quote a wise statement, "For those who really understand the Block Chain, they are not worried about the price (or exchange), as the Block Chain is so much more."  We would like to see Troptions used in local economies or organizations as a mechanism of trade for the Block Chain benefits and we are seeking ideas through using the dormant features of the QT client and block chain to perform this function in a way that does not conflict with other economies or organizations if wanted or need be.  This is for another discussion.

So, there are people at this full time, but maybe the communication is wanting???

All that is great but the hideous red and blue T logo needs to go. It looks like it was made in a 1990s clip art program. There is a reason why dogecoin got so much attention and coinye west is getting so much before its even out. Marketing Is key.

someone with graphic skills needs to produce a new logo. Seriously.

Okay take what ever resources you have left and apply that to graphics and marketing.  You got something good here.  www.BidOnCrypto.com could be the next bitmit.
I had a buddy who developed a product years ago that would deliver media in real time.  They had 1 competitor whose product was horrible.  But the one thing they had was a good sales team.  Long story short his company flopped even though he had a better product.

1. Offer bounties for new pools, graphics
2. Listen to the people.  You need a new logo and a better website. I do like the the little super nova inside the T it catches your eye.
4. Offer free coins for people posting their address to get constant bumps on the forums.  Your faucet is paying out too much.  Put those funds to people that post an address.
5. create twitter and facebook account and get social
6. Be present in IRC join #troptions

This is what we need more of - open, transparent communication.

Also, check out 99designs.com for a cheap, professionally-done logo. You set a price, timeframe, and some color schemes/info, and then designers create logos for you based on your information and schemes. You get to look at (potentially) hundreds of logos and choose with you like best, weed out the ones you don't, and people keep submitting. Full disclosure, I don't work for 99designs, but I've used them many times in the past for web design and logos!

Yes, alot of enthusiasts are helping, and always looking for people that would like to clone some opensource for Troptions to give Troptions more utility.  We are also exploring some software to ride on top of the Troption block chain to be able to establish local or organizational values, while Troptions itself rises in value and utility.

If someone is good with linux, but maybe just learning Bitcoin, and would like to learn on us and get some bounty too, please contact us.  Alot of us are learning as we are going.  There are only so many Gavin Andresons.

Title: Re: [ANN] Troptions SHA256 Just Launched
Post by: Toby.P on January 29, 2014, 10:28:49 PM
The previous post leads to a topic which as it relates to Troptions is entirely misinformed.
  • Troptions were not only NOT premined, it was set up so that the first 1000 blocks had an award of only one Troption and not 25 to make sure everyone could get up to speed
  • Troptions logo was done in photoshop
  • The giveaway was started many weeks after the release of Troptions and has nothing to do with the founder, nor has the founder donated any funds to it.  The founder has only about 1/30th of all coins mined
  • Troptions has never been on it's death bed.  The mining has had a constant and steady growth pattern

I could go on, but one day, someone with this type of slanderous information will no longer be able to hide behind a "username" and build there attention getting by spreading absolutely untruthful statements.  The founder continue to look for and pay for developers to increase the utility of Troptions.

I would like to see the source of the statements made in the post as if there is a source, it too, is false and slanderous.

Let's have your real name, tk808, and I will give you my verified name through Miicard and your address for process of service.

System is working fine.  Perhaps an antivirus program problem or port problem.  I think their might be some other causes, but can't think of any at the moment.  Maybe try a laptop or another computer to make sure problem is not related to firewall or access point.

It's working fine now since uninstalling the one created with that sketchy troptions_setup.exe, and reinstalled from the troptions-qt.zip instead.

That said, I have a few points I'd like to bring up.

If all you are going to do is edit the FireFlyCoin wallet, at least remove all FFC references from it. Still says "Transfer FFC to another Wallet" when you mouse over the Send Troption button.

Support the -datadir command line option. What is odd about having to make this request is that the FireFlyCoin wallet that you made your's from already supports it just fine.

Why on earth is the default path for the troptions_setup.exe set to root? No one wants their root cluttered up with stuff. That is what the Programs Files folder is for and is the default install location for pretty much everything in Windows.

Thank You for your input.  You are clearly a more sophisticated user and make some excellent points.  The reason the executable file installs in the root is because many newbies have trouble finding the directory.  The old "I downloaded it and do not know where it is Syndrome".  At least someone directing them would know where to find it.  Of course, the installation program allows one to install in any directory chosen.
The cloning process was not done from FireFlyCoin, however, FireFly9Coin was done from some of the coin that Troptions was. This should explain the -datadir.  There are some other labeling errors also that will be corrected on the next update or when we can update to the new version 9.0 Gavin Andresen is working on.

We are always looking for individuals, even with bounty or pay, to help us develop the infrastructure of Troptions.  Someone good with Linux and cloning and willing to learn is fine.

Have you tried submitting troptions to some of the indie exchanges like cryptorush.in or freshmarket.co.in?

The Troptions block explorer is currently not operational.  Is this due to current development work?

Here is the link:  http://troptions.org/block-explorer/

The only way an exchange will add a coin is if there is interest in said coin and there is no interest in TRP.

Maybe it's the name. Maybe it's the lack of marketing. Maybe it's the origin. I don't know.

But look at the difficulty. Still down in the 1K and below. Has a ridiculously low network hash rate because there is like only 6 people mining it with a handful of USB block eruptors. It's the only sha256 coin out there where you can hit blocks CPU mining it solo. Despite how easy it is to mine a truck load of coins to be ready for the day it does hit an exchange, people still aren't bothering.

There are only 30 likes for the request to add TRP on Cryptsy. Mind you, there are coins people are asking to be added that have 100's and even 1000's of likes that haven't been added yet either.

No exchange will even think about touching this coin the way things stand now. And that means it will be difficult for them to even keep the 6 people they have mining it now. Given that there have been many a BS joke coin created that managed higher penetration and subsequently got adopted to exchanges in less time than this one has been around, the reality is of the situation is not good.

If they don't want this coin to be considered dead and buried, they need to come up with some marketing genius to get a whole LOT of people into it, fast!

I am planning to close the iSpace pool for this coin ..... any reason why I should hold off?

There are Troption trades going on outside of currency exchanges, just as with Itex which has been around and active with thousands of businesses for many years.  Cryptocurrency is not just for nerds or someone who wants to play on Cryptsy at .000000017 btc.  Itex members would unlikely be interested in Bitcointalk.org.

Also,This is the year that, as we know, will bring alot of working with the blockchain and Troptions has a stable history were development on it's blockchain could be done whether it be pegs or something else without having to go after alot of miners.

The pool has been helpful and miners seem to like to mine it from the beginning, partly, I suppose because of the fast blocks, so hopefully it will still be on a pool for those who do not rely on being on a currency exchange, as well.  Doge found it's niche and Troptions has, but somewhat outside of the techy world.

None that I can see. Drop it.

Granted, you're the only active TRP pool (no one is using japool), but that's not your problem to deal with.

Where? I'd like to dispose of mine.

just as with Itex which has been around and active with thousands of businesses for many years.
You did not seriously just try to compare yourself to Itex, did you?  Do you even know what it is or how it works? Not even remotely the same thing. ::)

and Troptions has a stable history
What history, you've only been around 6 months, and there are only 5-6 people mining/using it.

The pool has been helpful and miners seem to like to mine it from the beginning, partly, I suppose because of the fast blocks, so hopefully it will still be on a pool for those who do not rely on being on a currency exchange, as well.
iSpace pool is running at 45gh/s and is currently the only pool with anyone mining on it.

Just to see, I started solo mining it a few minute ago. I'm only 60gh/s. In the last 4 minutes, I've hit 4 blocks in a row (Sorry to the other 5-6 people trying to mine it, I'm ruining it for you guys!). It says a lot when a single 60gh/s user can dominate the network and proves the lack of use.

You're pretending like this is some uber popular coin that lots of people are dealing with, but the facts based on block chain and net hash show otherwise.

To that; Why should others flip the bill running a pool to support your coin when they aren't going to get anything out of it. Pool operators are in it to make money.

Doge found it's niche and Troptions has, but somewhat outside of the techy world.
Doge found it's niche? Doge is a primary currency on most exchanges along side BTC and LTC. That's not niche.

Believe me, I understand you are proud of your coin and want to save it, but the reality is that it's not up to you, it's up to the market place, and the market place doesn't seem interested. If your serious about your coin, and happy to accept it having no cash value in the crypto marketplace, maybe you should consider running your own pool to support it. I'm sure you can buy servers and pay for electricity and internet with your TRP "It's the new Itex" Network.

My Mother once told me that when someone talks about somebody or something, it often says more about the person than what one is talking about.

The answer to all of your comments can be found by clicking on your name and viewing the your list of posts.  I got depressed trying to find anything positive, however, I comforted myself by knowing one that is all knowing.

Do your posts constitute the definition of a "Troll".  I am not sure.

Just telling it how it is.

Again, I know you're really upset that your alt coin failed like the 100's of others that were trying to jump on the bitcoin bandwagon, but denial isn't going to solve anything.

Maybe if you had marketed it better. Maybe if you had decent coders that at least had enough sense to remove references to the other coins you guys borrowed code from. But you guys didn't. You just cobbled it together out of other people's work, threw it out there, then proceeded to and continue to take issue when called out on anything (such as your grandiose comparison to ITEX, or calling DOGE "niche".)

Sorry, but that kind of attitude is exactly what is wrong with crypto and why so many coins/exchanges/pools fail. Everyone has this self important notion that it's about them, not the users of the product. Perfect example is your suggestion that I'm a troll because I dare do anything else besides and bend over and praise everyone. Sure, most of my posts are negative, you forget to mention that they were valid and justified too. MtGox WAS lying and ripping people off, weren't they. How dare I say anything about it, eh? CoinEx WAS lying and ripped people off too. How dare I say anything about that either, eh? Cryptsy DOESN'T work right and HAS horrible customer service. I should just keep my mouth shut about it, right? No one cares about your coin. Now I can just imagine you sticking your fingers in your ears and closing your eyes yelling "la la la la la my coin is awesome la la la everyone thinks I'm great" at that thought, but I suggest, good sir, you look at the block explorer. That you can not accept criticism is your failure, not mine.

Last block on the chain is 184879 from a week ago on Sun Jul 13 16:50:47 2014.

iSpace closed their pool and has the wallet marked for closure.

Japool (the only working TRP pool left) was only used for 6 days this month from the 3rd to the 9th (actually hit a whopping 1.2 gh/s a few times).

Solo mining isn't generating anything either as of late, even with 60gh/s (which is like 60 times the average network hash when it's actually up and doing anything.)

So dead and forgotten very soon is my take on it.

But hey, apparently I'm just a troll, so don't let facts influence you. TRP is a widely accept coin used by everyone and will be on every exchange in just weeks and worth more than BTC. ::)
