But not registered from 2010-2012 :) I dont know how these ( registered from 2010-2012 ) can have such value Title: Re: Bitcointalk.org accounts being sold on ebay Post by: pedrog on November 11, 2013, 11:43:10 PM Hey, it's a free market...

Title: Re: Bitcointalk.org accounts being sold on ebay Post by: BTC_GHD on November 12, 2013, 12:39:33 AM I don't see why anyone would buy this but whatever.
Title: Re: Bitcointalk.org accounts being sold on ebay Post by: johnniewalker on November 12, 2013, 12:41:15 AM I don't see why anyone would buy this but whatever. Does no one see the potential for abuse here? Are you going to give a newbie with 10 posts a loan? Hell no.Are you going to give a very seasoned member with a good rep a loan if he promises a good interest rate? Probably. Hell no.Are you going to give a very seasoned member with a good rep a loan if he promises a good interest rate? Probably. I think people are wising up and are asking for collateral now. Title: Re: Bitcointalk.org accounts being sold on ebay Post by: Lethn on November 12, 2013, 08:44:08 AM lol $25? What a con, plus if you were an old member it would definitely be worth a lot more, yes, I won't let mine go for less than 1000BTC :D and you'd have to do the transfer with a neutral escrow ;).
Title: Re: Bitcointalk.org accounts being sold on ebay Post by: waqas on November 12, 2013, 09:04:09 AM I don't see why anyone would buy this but whatever. some scammers trying to abuse system I sure these accounts has no worth anymore Title: Re: Bitcointalk.org accounts being sold on ebay Post by: faiza1990 on November 12, 2013, 09:37:09 AM http://www.ebay.com/sch/dannyjr989/m.html?item=181256804411&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a33bf583b&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562 This really turns my stomach. They are also selling 0.001 BTC for $2.50. That's a 500% mark up! I bet he'll make 0 sales on eBay. People can't be that dumb. yes you are right but dumb peoples never give up they are almost doing this again and again because they are dumb Title: Re: Bitcointalk.org accounts being sold on ebay Post by: MakeBelieve on November 12, 2013, 09:48:30 AM I can't believe he's actually trying to sell for $25. Aren't they worth $0 because you can just register and work yourself up.

He's already sold some at this forum over at the digital goods section. Title: Re: Bitcointalk.org accounts being sold on ebay Post by: wunkbone on November 12, 2013, 12:37:49 PM What's wrong with selling accounts, I have seen people selling world of warcraft account for like few thousands...

Selling these accounts are different. It encourages scammers. The people who normally want to purchase these accounts want them for their date/trust because they think people will trust them more. Title: Re: Bitcointalk.org accounts being sold on ebay Post by: MakeBelieve on November 12, 2013, 03:42:28 PM Exactly. People want to buy accounts with trust, instead of earning it themselves. The amount of newbies I seen basing reputation on post count, trust & date registered is unbelievable. I bet most users with early registration dates have been bought. Title: Re: Bitcointalk.org accounts being sold on ebay Post by: Lauda on November 13, 2013, 12:05:10 AM This sucks. They are even junior member accounts, why would anyone want those from '11.
Title: Re: Bitcointalk.org accounts being sold on ebay Post by: mrhelpful on November 13, 2013, 01:56:06 AM I can see how this ruins the community in multiple ways.
This is just creating more possible scams. Title: Re: Bitcointalk.org accounts being sold on ebay Post by: nobbynobbynoob on November 13, 2013, 02:02:12 AM Exactly. I bet most users with early registration dates have been bought. I'm with Lethn, I'd never sell my account out cheaply. I suspect most "veterans" feel similarly. Still weird though. :) Title: Re: Bitcointalk.org accounts being sold on ebay Post by: beetcoin on November 13, 2013, 02:44:53 AM it's insane thinking about all the things that can be monetized. i signed up last week and i was wondering if anyone was selling their accounts, especially since you can make money by posting ads in your signature.
i'd rather let my account go inactive than sell it for $20 anyways. Title: Re: Bitcointalk.org accounts being sold on ebay Post by: Lauda on November 13, 2013, 05:17:26 AM People always find bad ways in good things.
Title: Re: Bitcointalk.org accounts being sold on ebay Post by: beegatewood on November 13, 2013, 05:49:17 AM But the activity for the account is low so its not hard to spot scammer right?

Title: Re: Bitcointalk.org accounts being sold on ebay Post by: Lauda on November 13, 2013, 03:26:48 PM The only reason to buy this is for a scam. >:( Yeah pretty much. I think theymos should prevent this from happening. For example an account (+IP) ban for the seller and the buyer. I'd use a proxy or VPN. Title: Re: Bitcointalk.org accounts being sold on ebay Post by: Lauda on November 13, 2013, 03:40:38 PM You can never stop people from using a proxy, but atleast they don't have the account they wanted to sell. You can't just allow it if people are using it for scams right? People can always register new ones and use those. Title: Re: Bitcointalk.org accounts being sold on ebay Post by: AuroraHF on November 13, 2013, 03:41:55 PM People are selling it on this forum itself.
Title: Re: Bitcointalk.org accounts being sold on ebay Post by: Lauda on November 13, 2013, 07:17:34 PM Yeah, it is allowed.
Title: Re: Bitcointalk.org accounts being sold on ebay Post by: Ecurb123 on November 13, 2013, 10:15:52 PM I can't believe how high the price is for just one account, that's silly.

Title: Re: Bitcointalk.org accounts being sold on ebay Post by: Don007 on November 14, 2013, 03:22:37 PM It think such advertisements only attract people who are going to scam people here. Who else wants to buy and old account with a few posts? If it had many posts, the owner could earn some $ with it by advertising third parties in their signature. But that's not the case now.
Unfortunately the account's owners where so smart to not tell their accountnames. Bitcointalk should otherwise ban their accounts in my opinion. By banning the buyers, the sellers still have made their profit and that would make this business attractive. But, I think it's easier to ban the buyers indeed, as the moderators probably can see an huge change in IP address.
