Title: A tool to avoid scammers
Post by: CaptainKrypto255 on April 25, 2018, 05:31:05 PM
Just found a new tool that I wanted to share with you all. If i knew who to watch and listen to from the beginning I wouldn't have lost so much money.... so here's to helping out the newbies. Cryptoinfluence.io (http://Cryptoinfluence.io) has list of the most credible YouTubers ranked by the community and lists all the scammers you should avoid! It also provides comprehensive data on the user allowing you to do your analysis and look at their target audience/predict market movement. Enjoy my friends!

Site seems good to see for newbie's but not all of the people are aware that this kind of site exist, But that site still no guarantee to avoid scams since aslong as there are people who wants a referral bonus and brag those newbie's into dirt hole then there are still more scamming will be happen.

MetaCert is also a good one. This one ism primarily a phishing scam blocker. Its a browser extension. If you look at the recent myetherwallet hack, the wasn't even a myetherwallet hack it was a server they used that got hacked that they have no control over I think these types of instruments will become even more valuable. Remember a url is just a link to an IP address. Even if the URL looks identical the IP address you are getting sent to may be different!

Since scam requires evidence and proof, it is difficult to confirm that a person is scammer [only by consensus].
In other words you have to trust the people on that list, I have checked the site and it looks good.
Personals I prefer this site, I can know who I trust and do the transaction easily https://www.bitrated.com

Even myself isnt aware on this sites existence and when i checked it out ive seen personalities or profiles i dont know if its an accurate list or not but as long there is already a history of scamming then it would really be considered to be valid one and should really be avoided.I do see Crypto influencers i dont know if what would really be the purpose of those persons? Might be effective or worth to follow or just total crap.

Those persons who were listed on that site seems legit but not all, i really know that not all the crypto they introduce or they follow has a good potential since we cannot prove it just by believing but the most important is to check and review clearly, and not all those persons introduce crypto by free, some of them is shilling for sure but not all, That site introduces person who has great influence when it comes to crypto industry, and knows a lot. However, this can be a good guide to beginners but, always, investing must be upon our decision to take the risk. by the way, Thank you OP.

Mind explaining first, how do they determine if a certain person should be trusted or not??.. Because you can't just expect people to blindly trust someone just because they are listed as "trusted" on a newly created site particularly.

Sites like these are helpful when gathering data to come up with a conclusion but I'm also seeing some people who completely relies on them which is wrong, you gotta do the background checking properly.

You can not blindly trust any service. It is necessary to analyze the projects themselves - look at the team, read the documentation, look at the projects that have already been implemented. All this, in total, will guarantee that the project is real.

Absolutely agree. You have to think with your own head, and do not rely on others.

That "tool" to avoid scammers can also be used as a tool for scammers. Who is to stop the scammers from manipulating the upvotes on the site? The scammers can control the site itself by paying the owner a good sum of money.

If banks can pay the rating agencies as they did during the 2008 financial crisis, then smart scamming con artists can also easily pay the owner of the site.

Well, I believe that is why the OP has decided to share it. The thing is information is always the key and you always get new information when you always read and search for new things which I believe most people always find very hard to do but prefer their own lazy and easy way to things.

There have always been some great community members who always are ready to help in their own way, but the community has been polluted with some who are just after the gains and ready to mislead a lot of people. It is good having something like this.

Yeah, most especially in this day and age that almost everyone is trying to get rich as quick as possible in their own best way. It is important to always be careful and this is a resource that can actually be helpful for those who are basically looking for mentors as well in their future investment. As long as you can also do some digging on your own to add up to what you are getting, I believe everyone in that category should always be fine.

Cryptoinfluence is actually a very good tool for the newbies who may be looking for influencers in the community and can even direct them to the right spot on who to follow and listen to and who not to follow as the case may be. However, it is still very important that people should learn not to just follow everyone just like that but at least be able to do some analysis on their own so as to get a lot of benefit as well in this crypto world with based on their own decisions but this is really a nice one and thanks for sharing.

We all know this thing that there are so many scammers around us and that most of them are rich in knowledge and that they exactly know how to grab your money in no time and that too without even being caught or letting you know. You need to be smart and that you need to focus on the right thing and try to improve your knowledge as well because this will then help you in defending yourself in a better way.

Yeah, there are really some tools one would always need to try as much as possible to eliminate some of the things that can put their assets into jeopardy. The funny thing is that when you open MEW, there is always this pop up that would give newbies some hint on what to do to be able to stay secure, but the problem is a lot of people do not just like reading as they call it stories but would rather go ahead to learn it the hard way after losing their funds than to just take few minutes of their time to read what is necessary.

Though scamming in this space is inevitable but its better to be protect yourself as much as u can..
Scammers are everywhere but if you notice not all the people are getting robbed nor scammed. Only week hands are vulnerable for such risks. Hence this types of discussions will definitely bring awareness on protecting ourselves.

Wow nice tool though but then again there are many tools to avoid scammers and that tool is just on yourself though , just be wise and learn from your mistake.

I just wanna share my experience about scammers , we all had been experience that case right or should i say a phenomenal event that leads us to frustration and depression right? , and that day i manage to learn and be wise at any time and any cost , having a second doubt is one of the main tool you can apply though , be wise and aware , conducting a basic review is such a big help.

This are the tools on my mind to avoid scammers but then again nice site though , really helpful mostly to the new comers.

Obviously this is good work but I really like the badbitcoin.org website to find the more information about any crypto related website. Even this is good initiation for the people getting scam when they are newbie and after that.
I suggest to invest your fund on top listed coins and then hodl it for some months.
I am sure you can expect around double the value than you invested.

Much better display than I've seen on some sites. Actually this looks a lot like a working version of some blockchain projects I know of attempting to create some kind of similar influencer platform, with the difference that this is centralised and this doesn't seem to offer their services.

I'm not a big believer of this type of marketing, but I know that influencer marketing at least seems to work a lot better for companies these days. People want/need someone else to follow.

Curious about engagement ratios, what kind of filters or do all likes/comments count as engagement? That's quite easy to boost these days too.

First things first, do not easily trust on anyone that you don't really know. Don't trust any strangers because they might be a scammers or hackers. The important thing to do to avoid being scammes is that you need a trusted friend that will help you to use cryptocurrencies like bitcoin. If you have extra money and you want to invest it in here, then you need again a trusted friend to tell you how and which one you should invest so that you will not be scammed.

This is also my question if those likes/comments would really be just considered to be a pure interest or not and as you said these things are easy to boost.
Im not really a fan on checking out influencers but these things would be good for some people to get some basis but in the end this would really still depend on your own decisions, preference and research.

I guess it's good to have websites like this that review and try to sort out the good people in the crypto community but you're still ultimately relying on other people giving good information back about these people - guess it's better than nothing.
Unfortunately though some people that look legitimate can still end up being scammers... it's tough to tell sometimes.
Ultimately most people who are marketing a coins are trying to sell something so everything should be taken with a grain of salt.

Unfortunately, today in the crypto-currency world there are a lot of scams. What's frustrating is that I meet a lot of different dishonest ratings. Therefore, to understand whether to invest in the project, first study the development team. If the developers have successful projects then you can take part in their new project.

You can know scam ICO  by asking here in n the forum, there are people who'll help anybody if he/she ask for help just to know if the project or the influencer is scam.

There is always a helping hand.

I find that quite quite pathetic actually. If you can't do basic level research yourself, you're just a loser and a brainless imbecile. If it's too much to ask for then people shouldn't be anywhere near the crypto industry.

Honesty is almost nonexistent here. Pretty much everyone is out to sell you a rigged and biased version of this industry. It's much better to acknowledge that you suck and don't belong here as noob. It will save you a lot money.

I wish it was different, but it's not unfortunately. I'm sure that regulations will take care of a large part of the scum activities here, but it's impossible to get rid of it entirely. People need to watch their steps and not trust anyone.

Find out on major media outlets. The major web standards most have detailed projects and related information. That will lead to the judgment of yourself and then make a decision. Watch out for those who often impersonate celebrities you pay close attention.

Yes. Everything that we see happen in the crypto space happens outside it as well, where even the tightly regulated stock and forex markets are subject to scammers. The difference is the media coverage on this subject, which as we know is heavily biased towards a negative opinion on crypto. We only read about crypto scams while in the regular market much larger scams are being taken down, but there is not much to read about it. I don't really think it's coincidence, mainly because of the fact that financial institutions don't want their business to be put in a negative light. It's hypocrisy at best, and twisted motives at worst....

Thanks for this great information, it will be helpful to a lot of people. But let’s not forget the fact that scammers are being born everyday lol. Even the ones you know today can change their identity, so the best is to never trust anyone you see online cause there are scammers everywhere, only go for those that has reputation.

If you want to do business with someone new, then don’t forget to start small so in case you lose. Just continue small until they prove themselves worthy.

Having a site or tool to avoid scammers is a good thing, but having a self regulation is still better as even having a tool or site to help you will still not guaranty that you will avoid being scammed as it will only lessen the risk of it. So in a real world scenario having self regulation and seeing the signs of scams can be a life saver, and even if you are scammed just learn from it and move on.

Crypto influencers are a good way of checking out what's new and what's popular, but it's not really a tool to avoid scammers, since you are still vulnerable to the scammers targeting the legitimate websites you end up checking out after seeing what influencers recommend. Always practise good security behaviors online regardless of your source.

We've also recently partnered up with Brandshield, the developers of a new anti-scam platform called MyShield. They've got a great track record of protecting brand names from scams, forgeries, fraud, malicious websites, etc. Our own Telegram channels aggressively seek out and remove threats to our communities too.

It's a crypto jungle out there!

I am not ready to believe into any website to filter out scammers. In the past, I have experienced with lots of review and rating sites which had begun honestly but over the time, most of them had turned as a paid review system. The highly paying costumer get listed at the top with ranked number or rated as the best one.

But, when considering a open discussion along with experienced member, such a paid tricks will get eliminated easily. That is the reason I believe only with this forum. Here we have many veteran people who love to share their experience. If we listen to then then we can easily avoid scams.

lol yeah right . tools cant eliminate scammers because scammers are verry smart and even if you say that  you are also smart , you cant still avoid to get scammed by them . i believe almost all of us ( people on the whole universe ) do already experienced to get scammed not only on cryptos but also on other types of transaction   and  the best way to deal with it , is moving on  .

lets faced it ,  we cant avoid scammers but we can do anything in order to minimize the risk of catching them .

few ways that i know to minimize the risk of getting scammed is : 1 . dont trust the people that you dont know easily , 2. always do your own research before you try to put any amount on a unfamilliar business or investment , etc ..

I also noticed this information about Menlo.one. I think this is not possible. Only manually you can find out which is the project. How are they going to automate the verification of the team? I do not understand it, but hope it will come true.

One more tool in the toolbox, thank you very much.

It's a good thing to see the major players in the field, and influencers certainly can point in the right direction. It's not a bulletproof shield though, and people should be aware the while it is helpful, they also have to take care to avoid scams through other ways as well. A bit of common sense while using the internet goes a long way.

Although if one has enough time on his hands, he can build himself up to become an influencer. After a long and arduous climb to the top, building enough trust among followers, that person could very well execute a large scam. You never know how long someone can be scheming to do something like this.

I think  even there is a tool like that but still we can't avoid scammers because they are anywhere and they have their own techniques. They are knowledgeable enough doing bad thing but of course much better to do something to secure and not to scam easily than to do nothing about it. Well it is a good information for us thanks for sharing.

All we have to do to lessen the chance of being scammed is to be always vigilant and do our own research before buying a coin and not just become a blind follower of such people. The site given by OP is very informative because it lets you know who are the crypto influencers that is trusted by people and who are those people that has a lot of followers but are just shilling their coins.

RESEARCH AND STUDY...
this is the best tool to have before joining nay ICO or bounty.
make a research and study well, not just the project but also the people behind it.

This should already be common sense but then some people are just lazy to do their own. In effect, some got burned when the coin they have invested in only lose its value after listing in an exchange. The suggestions of these crypto influencers are just guidelines so that you will not be having a hard time for a good ICO.

I know all this rules. It's about the fact that there are many projects now created for making of profit, not for developing good product. Maybe scammers do not need personal data, but they will take money. And they will have wonderful holiday in Bali. Therefore, I hope for projects that promise to find scam projects. Menlo.one is one of them.

The only method to avoid scammers for good is to stop investing in icos and in coins with dubious reputations, I know that it seems too harsh especially when there are honest projects and developers out there but when the majority of the icos are nothing but scams then the best thing we can do with our money is to not invest in them and only invest in established coins.

Quite a very useful tool, although I don’t do anything without carrying out a proper research about it. This tool might be able to help us avoid bad YouTubers and some scam websites out there or scammers in the community or whatever, but it can’t protect you from future threats cause there are still new scammers that will arise lol. They never stop, there are lots of fake crypto being released almost every day and lots of fake exchanges out there. So it’s left for you to use what we call “common sense.

I want to add one more important thing - you should divide your investment between different assets. In such a way you will have higher chances of a success. I have found a trustworthy Token Sale project. It is called Socratus. It is a digital platform for insurance companies. So any insurance company can connect the platform to become the part of Insurance Digital Ecosystem. They are aiming to create a win-win insurance whereby you get instant claim payment,  fair and transparent dealing and friendly prices.  It means that there is no more solo human decisions to pay or not to pay, no more lingering manual claims handling procedures.

The situation can change very fast, therefore, the smartest way to invest in digital assets is to build a well-diversified portfolio based on your risk preference and investment goals. Such a portfolio would likely include a substantial holding in bitcoin and small exposure to promising tokens. I have found a trustworthy project. It is called Socratus.  It is an insurance ecosystem which provides a digital platform for insurance companies. When it comes to investing its yes the right move to look at negative sides at prior. Thanks for sharing the site with list of scammers and etc. Besides the sites indicating frauds and scammers, be more proactive in analyzing. Find out various ways and plan accordingly with plan A, B and C. At times when you are not on your track, other plans would shoot out necessary things to bring you back on track. Always consult with experts before proceeding further investing in any domain.

Good job to get that information (tool/link) Still I would like to speak somethings that is against it that I hope Everyone respects because it is reality.

Now that is helpful but a fact that everyone can create a new social media account and create a fake identify which means you link can be slightly helpful to the community.

Also a much helpful additional post is to state a small facts to avoid scammer and how to identify one but yes its sometimes hard so we need to keep our eyes open and be alert.

Lastly remember that if you are not decided and thinking it is a scam the safest ways is to avoid but the reality of every decision of that scenario is gamble.

Yeah this is very true but very easily ignored as we get blinded by our hopes for profits. If it seems like it's a very easy way to make money, it's probably not a safe way to do so. That's why we need to ask ourselves before doing these things if we are just being greedy, or if it is a rational, logical decision we are making. That key question in the moment before making the payment is what people who get scammed fail to ask themselves, and it leads them to follow their own greed down into the void. That's why research, like you said, is very important. It gives a clear head.

Personals I prefer this site, I can know who I trust and do the transaction easily https://www.bitrated.com

A good idea to deal with someone who has a reputation, but you can't rely just on a site as not everyone bothers to sign-in.
For example; you can't find some trusted person in this forum on the bitrated list, can find theymos but no feedback though.
Frankly speaking, a perfect tool to avoid scammers is the brain, everyone has to do their own research and consideration, take the risk or let it go. if you've never been tricked, that's the proof of how smart you are to assess the situation, or maybe you're just lucky :D ;D lol

For me the best tools are google and youtube and some common sense. To avoid getting scam you need to properly conduct research on what your investing whether it's ICO or business. Most people will blindly invest their money in to good to be true projects, ponzi schemes and crowd funding expecting to have immediate gains that's why they lose money.

Just found a new tool that I wanted to share with you all. If i knew who to watch and listen to from the beginning I wouldn't have lost so much money.... so here's to helping out the newbies.
Whatever tool it’s going to be, I don’t think it’s something you should be relying on. It will be much better for you if you take the responsibility on yourself and start fishing those scams all by yourself. But if you just relax with hopes that an ordinary YouTube channel will solve your problems then you’re probably finished cause there are lots of scammers and this channel your talking about can’t fish them all out. You don’t need to rely on it, just learn how to fish them out yourself.

?
Why just question mark? In case you didn’t understand, what the op was actually trying to say was that there is a YouTube channel that points out scammers and can serve as a tool for knowing which sites are scams. But from the experience I’ve had so far, you can’t use just an ordinary channel on YouTube to know which site is a scam or whatever, it is best for you to be making research and by the way who has the time to sit and watch YouTubers talk about sites that are scam or not.

I don't think there's another community, site or blog that can beat Bitcointalk.org in terms of educating people on whats a scam and whats not. We have a lot of helpful members here who shares their experience with different sites and shares their knowledge. I myself don't recommend other sites to newbies, just Bitcointalk and nothing else.

It also provides comprehensive data on the user allowing you to do your analysis and look at their target audience/predict market movement. Enjoy my friends!
This is great and informative for the newcomers. Gradually, crypto will grow above sentiments and that is when influencers will have little or no influence on prices.

That's a fantastic and informative post regarding investment and trading purpose. I think people are willing to invest their money and they want to trade in this platform but sometimes they have been discouraged from getting involved in this system. But we have to focus on looking for scammers in order to avoid stealing money from this platform.

Cool name crypto influencers, and that is so true, I already saw couple very nice videos and this people that have profiles on this site have big influence in crypto community, many of them are developers, programmers.. Great site, I`m there and I will use this site for sure, recommendation from me.

This is a very good project, but it takes a lot of time and effort to reach many investors. The prevention of scammers and hackers is always a must for investors in this market so it is always taken care of.

It is important to talk this topic because if we take 100 icos there are 80-90% for scam projects. In the present market most of the people are tend to lie. Therefor we have to be carefull with scammers. Before we invest somewhere we need to find out all the project details. Advisers, countries and other resons. As well as we can find their past projects and stability of those. Some projects are not scammers but there iis no good market for the coin. Those also we need to care.

For me the best tools are google and youtube and some common sense. To avoid getting scam you need to properly conduct research on what your investing whether it's ICO or business. Most people will blindly invest their money in to good to be true projects, ponzi schemes and crowd funding expecting to have immediate gains that's why they lose money.

i completely agree.
there's nothing better than common sense to keep you on the safe side, free from scammers.
Thats right you need to increase your knowledge dude, when you want to invest on a Coin or ICO, then you have to know deeply
about their project, their team, and so on, so you will know they have clear goals or only be a scam and harm you

No tools can avoid fraud. The only way is to improve your understanding and control of greed. Learning and hearing information from the forum is a good way to know if an ICO project is a fraud

Tool is not available. But the first tool is the self of every investor. Each person is aware of himself and his pocketbook. Especially his wallet, because there will be a lot of bad guys are taking advantage to usurp the property. So learn how to protect your property. This is the first thing to do to avoid dangerous people.

Life changes when we respect each other. The market should also have transparency and will clearly produce good results. To achieve that we need to be reminded of when to participate. And consider the conditions of the market. Be alert to the actions of bad behavior crooks.

IF something sounds too good to be true it is probably a scam, just use common sense and you will be fine.  A lot of people are paranoid but there is no reason to be, that is no way to live life.

There isn't universal tool that can reveal scam sites and icos. This site is good like most of others, people share their opinion and their research materials, most of them are jot experts, even they say that in videos, they start with 'I'm not an expert, I'm just a cryptocurrencies lover, many of them seems fair but they don't know everything, nobody does. That's why it's important to search on more then one place, to compare what you see on one place with what you see on other, on more places you search more chances you have to find truth.
IF something sounds too good to be true it is probably a scam, just use common sense and you will be fine.  A lot of people are paranoid but there is no reason to be, that is no way to live life.
Its one of the better advices, if it sounds too good its a scam so run away. Its good to have some paranoia, that helps with researching, it will push you to find more informations. Good luck my friends!

I checked the site you gave in the above mate, but even there is a picture or image they can still change their identity, because most of the

scammer are not really showing their real identity, that's why its hard to determine who the hell are they, but still thanks for this one pal, at least

anyhow it can give a bit help to everybody. Just be aware of their good/sweet words and promises so that you won't be a victim by them.
