400 dollars setup 220/month. wow, that setup fee is intense. i understand how it is, you can't just go out and buy hardware for free when someone is paying month to month. This being said, do you have any preconfigured options similar to what i want(dual xeon, 48-64 gb ram). 100 mbit is fine as long as it can handle the traffic for this: https://openex.pw i may end up needing to get 1 server for the wallets and 1 server for the site. not really sure yet. would you be willing to work with me to get a good setup? I'm not sure that 18-20 coin wallets and the site will be well served on 1 100 mbit line. Hi, We could work out a cheaper L5420 (8 cores) but I'd think you would need more CPU and RAM which is well supported in the Dual L5520 (similar to the Dual L5639) but 8 Cores / 16 threads which should be good enough. Or If you plan on splitting up the Main site and backend server I would suggest going for a powerful backend with a L5520 or L5639 and a Medium-Powerful Dual L5420 as the frontend. Since the 2 servers will be on the same switch, the switch can easily handle good amount of internal traffic, so the traffic between the servers should be fine. I'd think 48 GB RAM should be enough for the coin wallets ? or do you suppose 48GB+ would be needed? If so, we could try the following setup, For the coin wallet server : Dual L5639 48 GB RAM 500 GB x 2 Enterprise HDDs (RAID1) For the webserver // frontend : Dual L5420 16 GB RAM 500 GB x 2 Enterprise HDDs (RAID1) I'll be using RE4 Enterprise 7200 RPM HDDs so you get good IO and reliability on the HDDs. Servers are also pretty new with the RAM checked and ECC RAM as well. All the drives will be hotswap so "In-case" any HDD issue arises, we can swap the HDD without any downtime on the server. I can work out the Dual L5420 for a cheap monthly price without any setup fee for around ~$70/month but the L5639 will need a setup fee as it's a tad pricey at the moment :/ Let me know if the above setup sounds good or if any changes are needed and we can perfect out the setup for your requirements. some details: dual xeon 5520 72 gb ram 2x 500 gb disk raid level 1 10 gbps port this should see us through the first 3 months until we need to externalize the wallets to a second server, freeing the main server for site traffic/overhead. still selling shares to fund start up. right now, i have enough to pay 1 month + setup, but i see there was a very large fee share order today. as soon as that order is received we should be more than covered on the costs. The deal with WANSEC is i offered to pay a little extra per month to cover the volatility in price in the market. they are one of the best hosting providers around though. Is the code necessary to trading coins finished? yes. the entire site is more or less complete. the trading has been done for some time. the server company is having trouble stocking the processors we need, but they delivered us a smaller, temporary server to test the site on until our server is ready. we should have the site moved over tomorrow and begin our final stretch of testing/tweaking. justin is almost finished with the api, we're extremely close, and its been frustrating. our server was supposed to be here last week, and its still not ready. Have you done any scalability or other testing on it? If you manage to get some decent volume out of the gate - which is quite possible given the demand and the state of other exchanges right now - do you have a plan to scale it and keep the wheels on the bus without going underwater for awhile like what the cryptsy folks are dealing with? Are you going to have an API for bots? What kind of load might that represent? Trade execution times? Queues? Transactions? Rollback? What if the site crashes? How will you reconcile the trade activity, what if not all of your queries succeed, are you going to wait for support tickets and do it manually, but then what if you have 4000 support tickets and you don't have enough data to reconstruct the market state and replay transactions?, error handling, etc. etc. etc.

Title: Re: OpenEx: Fee shares-[closed] Post by: r3wt on December 16, 2013, 06:14:06 PM Update please. server 1 has arrived. http://dev2.openex.pw justin is tweaking our api and rpc on here. pen testing is still ongoing on the old server, with the feeling we would merge both branches eventually. http://dev.openex.pw CPU's for our main webserver is supposed to arrive this week, and setup is supposed to take no more than 72 hours when they arrive. on the 13th, i got a letter from the company saying it would be no more than 10 days. other than that there aren't really any updates of note, unless you want to hear about my personal life(i had the flu last week so i've been in the bed for the most part.) we're due for some good news. One glaring problem is the fact that we don't use ajax to update the trade page, which could be annoying for traders. we should probably make it use ajax or something, trying to investigate a solution that would be efficient but not wasteful. we only need it to refresh when there are new orders, which is probably a bit beyond our expertise but i'm sure we will figure something out. we have a week! :-) if all goes as planned, it wouldn't be much of a stretch to expect launch by early next week. the development thread is here. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=320975.60 Title: Re: OpenEx: Fee shares-[closed] Post by: r3wt on December 18, 2013, 01:50:58 AM the cpu's have arrived for our main server. it should be setup in 72 hours. then i will install the webserver and application and begin building and syncing the wallets. at the same time, justin will start the tradeserver and clear all the testing info from the database. we hope to launch by monday. woot! there may be some problems with the system at first, so we've setup the database to store every transaction and trade history in case of serious flaws, so that we will be able to roll back the db and restore balances in that situation should it arise.
