He should if it's not a scam. You risk the well established reputation if you take the payment in advance and don't keep the signature as agreed.

I think it's SUPER obvious that for 0.6 BTC a month, NO ONE in their sane mind would scam and remove signature after payment, especially people with 1200+ posts...  The fact that being new, he won't pay first, shows that this is a scam 100%.  I mean, even after first month if he paid first, people would accept him paying second, as he'd have enough or a reputation built just from that!

For the reason already stated, I believe he can pay this considering the average bitcointalk user (just being nice here, it actually works for >95%). In this case, being provably fair means nothing given the other condition stated in the site.

You get paid for posts at the end of the month. (Only non-spam posts within the month)

OP, PrimeDice has similar payouts, but they only pay for the posts you make during a month, not all of the posts you have after it. This is why everyone believes it is a scam, you simply pay way too much.

What I'm trying to say here is that: 1) a startup project is already a burden; 2) paying so much for sigs is indeed viable but if his project becomes successful. I believe it is in his interest and of whoever intends to use the sig and get paid, to support the OP instead of holding him back. You can't lock capital of a startup on an escrow!

Having rewards of this magnitude means the site's income must be suspiciously high. Where does the money come from? I am sceptical that a casino allowing bets up to 100 BTC with a 1% house edge is going to be the only source of income when the owner barely has a fund of 100 BTC.

I state once again, this user shouldn't be depending on trust as a newbie, he should provide the facts that he could actually pay.
He has refused multiple times to provide any addresses that he stores his bitcoins on.

I'm not even sure whether we can trust anyone to a great extent (at least on this forum), as it has been shown time and time again that there are people willing to wait a long time to gain rep and trust before scamming a lot of people out of coin. Thus, I find it even harder to trust newbie's without any tangible proof.

Why am I discouraging people who are likely to get scammed? I'm offering friendly advice, they don't have to take it. I didn't tell anyone to not do it, just why take the risk? Why go for this which might be a complete waste of time and effort when there's somebody who has been doing the same for longer just for a tiny bit less and there's good evidence that he pays out. If the guy wanted to "show his worth" he could've done this by using a bond or putting the cash in escrow. That's up to him.

Should I not offer advice to newbs in what are most likely blatant scam threads? I usually never say "DO NOT DO THIS THIS IS A BLATANT SCAM", just advise that I'm sceptical. And I never said this was a scam, just advised users to take caution and offered what appears to be a safer alternative. I'm only trying to help out. If they want to take the risk, that's fine. I'd rather risk taking 0.4BTC from somebody who appears to be trusted than risk taking 0.6 from a newb with zero trust and getting nothing. Well IMO that doesn't prove anything either - TF decided to run away and screw up his ad signature payments along with it - after paying successfully without a problem for many months.  I'm thinking that we can't give this user as much trust as we could with TF before he scammed; it's a new user that is offering the highest of payouts while copying Stunna's signature ad campaign almost exactly.

The good thing is that if he does payout for the first month, Stunna would probably increase his price to overbid him.

That's true, but Stunna's site/signature payouts are far more popular, and the advertising in signatures here is a good way to get your service out there and is still quite cheap compared to other alternatives. The truth is that, no one actually played here. There were only 2 bets, of 0.01 BTC. Both were paid. (one of them was a lose)

The main reason I see is because of jackjack's first rating, no one seem to try it after that! JUST NONE. The system was actually working for the past month, it was just 5 days back I shut down the payment system. Overall, this was a mere loss for me, worth ~$350, which I paid for VPS hosting, thoe clients, and Heroku instances.

Then I thought, I should not waste another ~$3000 in paying you all guys. I could start something other with this actually.

I just read the whole thread and let me say that we don't need any more policing of the forums. The people who agreed to this were just really stupid.

I think people just get excited and greedy and don't really look at the reality of the situation.

He might be saying sarcastically (not saying he was, it can be interpreted in a way). What I noticed that the moderation policy is to controll objective problems such as spam, flame wars and leave any subjective problems for the users to fix. This is a libertarian oriented forum after all, freedom of action, speech and such.

So is this actually a scammer-tolerant forum, i.e. scammers ain't banned, and their threads ain't locked? What other libertarianisms does it allow?

No, this a dream of a viligante/angry mob. The community scams, the community handles the scams and scammers. Trust system is one of the tools.

The rules are somewhat paradoxical and contradictory at times. Scammers usually aren’t banned but spammers sometimes are, and each mod has a different definition or what a actually spammer is.

The thing is that everything people say can be interpreted subjectively and such interpretation can be handled in a bad way. For example, let's say I post in a forum called TyrannyTalk that "I don't like that Steve guy" while Steve is a friend of the admin. The admin takes an alt army and slanders me with posts about me scamming users, presents faked proof. After that he orders the mods to ban me and poof, banned. See what I mean?

Meanwhile in BitcoinTalk people see a scammer and each user with different amounts of rep rates him appropriately. Another user dealing with him sees the ratings and makes a descision to trade with him or to cancel the deal.

Truly decentralized system at work. It may have its drawbacks and failures, but isn't it what bitcoin is all about?

Its a demonstration of personal responsibility.

Its your responsibility to investigate and ask questions then make up your own mind based on the information presented. If you get scammed, then you made bad choices, do better next time.

That is one clue to it being a scam -- 'too good to be true' should ring loud alarm bells, much louder than the 'greed' people are feeling.

The whole discussion started because he wasn't banned and the thread wasn't locked. I was talking about the policy, not separate cases. In this case, yeah, I know, he's a lowlife scammer, but the policy is that the community decides if he's guilty not the mods.

While this a good rule, most of the people I meet say Bitcoin sounds to good to be true and assume it's a scam  :D.

Even if it is a scam (looks too good to be true), it doesn't prevent us from making some real money with it. Though I agree, we in this case are not much in fact very different from the OP we all condemn here now for scamming, lol...

I've meant to say eager to prove that it is you who are wrong meaning that those people are actually right (about their assumptions that bitcoin is a financial pyramid)...

I'm sure the opposite is also true and people will be eager to prove them wrong too  :D.
