Title: DECENTRALIZED OR CENTRALIZED?
Post by: Nelars on April 30, 2018, 09:31:47 PM

Many individuals agree and have the same opinion about bitcoin as decentralized digital asset, a system without a central bank or single administrator is more favourable.
But somehow, numerous citizens want also the bitcoin to be centralized, because others believes it can remove barricades and walls to allow more easily reached and democratized financial and economic infrastructure.
For you what is your own perspective regarding this matter?

The most important feature of bitcoin is being a decentralised structure. On the other hand, when it comes to bitcoin exchanges , it will become centralised which is means the money , the result of exchanges is the one being centralised. It is not the bitcoin itself  being centralised.

We only need regulations so it can gather more trust rating and approval from the government that can possibly add more investors.
numerous citizens want also the bitcoin to be centralized
They want it but the fact that they can't do something about it anymore. Bitcoin is completely decentralized for the rest of our lives.

That was true, for being decentralized of bitcoin a huge of people is definitely reach their goals and perspective in life in a short period of time even the people who is in the young age for now they already become successful in their life because the benefits and opportunities that bitcoin decentralizing system that it has. Thus, being decentralized of bitcoin is the factor why most people loves to deal with this because it is less consuming time of having their financials freedom.

bitcoin is no longer decentralised.
core seen to that with thier and bloqs team effort to create the bilateral split to give core the main power of the (now)core network
they are even going as far as suing people for using the bitcoin brand.. even though no one owns it, and neither should core own it

..anyway..

so "distributed" is the new term
the big investment companies behind blockstream and others that are paying the main devs of core. already know and planned this. its why they are buzzwording "distributed ledger technology(DLT)" rather than decentralised blockchains
google already has 628,000 results just for that term. top results for me included the UK governments R&D papers and worldbank

the main devs know that LN is not a blockchain. but for the major hubs(banks2.0) having a ledger of managing multiple channel multisigs. distributed ledger, covers not only things like LN but also the now centralised blockchain. all in the same new buzzword

which is what all their investors are pushing them to develop.

In my opinion it might be better decentralized because in each country have its own authority over their finances if centralized there will be governing the finances of the State over other countries, perhaps with the existing system is good only I think the existence of bitcoin amid advances in technology good in facilitation so that no negative news stories about the existence of bitcoin and bitcoin can also stimulate the economy with the help of investors so much development of technology-based projects so that's it according to my perspective.

Decentralized because we know what governments do when they have the license to print money.
If we agree that FIAT is worthless and at least 51% accepts only cryptos, then those who believe in blockchain technology will have financial peace.

Wikipedia:

One study ended in 2000 the Gini coefficient worldwide 0.892. According to that, the largest percent of the world population has reached. The richest 10% comprise 85% of the world's wealth, the other 50% together only 1%. The inequality figure of 0.892 corresponds to a situation where out of 100 people one person owns 90% while the other 99 people share the remaining 10%.

~ bitcoin as decentralized digital asset,
bitcoin is a decentralized currency or you can also call it a decentralized payment system. it is not an asset!

i don't know where you are getting this from, i have never heard anyone wanting to centralize bitcoin!

we already have centralized systems, if we wanted centralization then we would have continued using them instead and wouldn't have bothered with creating bitcoin in first place.

Bitcoin would not be bitcoin if it was centralized.  The whole purpose behind bitcoin is to have a decentralized currency that is not controlled by any single entity or group so that the prices and supply are not manipulated.  If people want bitcoin to be centralized then there is purpose of them using it because they can just use the fiat in their designated countries.

Bitcion  could not be centralized, owners and holders in itself doesn't want anybody who's going to govern thier investment this is private and designated always decentralized.

better decentralized because it is more fair in my opinion and can prosper all bitcoin users. Rather than centralized and government-run. Because the government always cheat with the financial system. Almost all countries apply like that.

Did you just say "numerous citizens want bitcoin decentralized"? Are they already into bitcoins or are they just spectators? Real bitcoin enthusiasts and supporters doesn't want centralization because this will take away the essence of bitcoin. Bitcoin should remain the anonymity and decentralization.

I believe that it's the choice based on the abilities of the user. Decentralization is all about taking own responsibility and enjoying the freedom whereas, in decentralization, we let someone take responsibilities on our behalf and there is no freedom, in that case, it's just illusion of freedom. Even in the centralized system, the end user has to suffer from the mistakes of centralized authorities so it doesn't make any sense to go with that way just because we are using it since many years.

Bitcoin was created as a decentralized cryptocurrency and that's what it should be. But with the scams, the authorities have an excuse to regulate cryptocurrencies. They also manipulate the feelings of the mainstream with the idea that with regulations the customers would be protected. With the hack of some exchanges, authorities are demanding KYC and AML procedures. But the main objective is to tax cryptocurrencies and that makes them centralized cryptocurrencies instead of decentralized.

The thing is that at first, we're going to have to be centralized, it is the only thing which can bring people to Bitcoin because they know that they are protected enough as certain companies are insured and so on and so forth. Centralization is needed at first, but once the problems are displayed with centralization (such as susceptibility to being hacked, corruption, downtime, etc) then people are going to develop p2p (decentralized) platforms.

We will end up with decentralization across most things crypto. Though who knows when it comes.

I think Bitcoin is good as it is, there is no reason to change it and make it centralized.
All Bitcoin users want it to remain decentralized because they hate banks policies and seeing their money being controlled by someone else.
Besides, what makes Bitcoin unique and special is that it is decentralized and every one can have his own wallet.

They should understand more deeply about the decentralized system, the bitcoin does not have no manager, but it is the nature of bitcoin like this, there is a blockchain that holds a transaction. If bitcoin wants to have a manager it's not possible unless we make our own digital currency (for example, Ripple)

Barricades like what? Bitcoin is good as it is. Centralization would fuck bitcoin on a whole new level. You would have a leader who orders/gets things done to bitcoin itself, there would be more regulation, and there would be direct taxes, for example taxes would be on your holdings and not on your capital gains. Come on man, think it through, are you really that stupid to believe in anything that people would say?

I prefer bitcoin to be decentralised, it is better to have an investment where the price is based purely on the demand and supply, with decentralised the price could really go unlimited, we already got so many centralized investment, so if someone want a centralised investment they can go for fiat investment

I kind of like it being decentralize because most decentralized exchanges do require the creation of an account before you can begin trading. However, unlike more centralized exchanges such as Coinbase which needs to confirm users' identities via various forms of official government ID, most decentralized exchanges allow anyone to create an account under any name they choose with very little or no approval process.

I have been more comfortable with the decentralized system that bitcoin has. Everything I've done with bitcoin without being interfered with by the government, and I think if bitcoin is interfered with the government I will brag the government too greedily to regulate bitcoin.

Most likely those who want bitcoin to turn into a centralized system are those who do not want to take risks and want more profit from bitcoin. Without the bitcoin government it will become and make every country's economy change in its own way.

I don't see any point in making Bitcoin centralised. The whole advantage of using cryptocurrencies is that most of them don't have any central authority. Ripple is a centralised cryptocurrency which can process far more transaction, but people who are in charge of Ripple, can freeze accounts and block certain transactions. Also, you have to pay 20 XRP to create a wallet which is ridiculous. That's why we should keep Bitcoin decentralised and don't surrender to the governments who are trying to get rid of Bitcoin. They are simply afraid of losing control of money.

There is nobody who understands bitcoin and wants it to be centralized. Who are these "numerous citizens" who want it to be centralized. A trusted third party is nowhere involved when you want to own bitcoin.
Your BTC is only yours for the safekeeping. Its value will not be judged or allotted by any third party. The only people who are okay with centralization are those who think that the transaction rate has to be increased at the cost of decentralization. That is why you have ideas of masternodes, PoS, Increased blocksize size etc. etc.

As a community we shouldn't be making the dentralization trade-off. It dilutes the idea completely for short term gains. The moment you create a central point, there is a possibility that it'll be co-opted someday or the other.

the combination between the two features might be better, in my opinion, centralized is more secure, but the regulation, legalization, and rules inside are too complicated, it would be better if decentralized implement their security system because it is better, and regulation of the centralized must be abandoned.

Well, one thing for sure, is that a centralized currency would have full support from governments and banks, as well as being compliant to regulations, allowing its users to become protected against theft or fraud. With a centralized currency, people would be able to claim their funds back (in the case of theft) and even feel confident in its value as it becomes stable over time. However, a centralized currency would suffer from many risks such as a single point of failure, manipulation, freezing of funds, among others. With a decentralized currency, those risks are mitigated as anyone would be able to participate in it. Also, ID verification won't be necessary to use such a currency, and there would be no need to trust a middleman or a third party.

However, decentralization has risks involved too where there's no way people could claim their funds back, there's limited scalability, and the risks of hacks/theft becomes higher. Therefore, even with such drawbacks, a decentralized currency would be the most viable option against third party interference and manipulation.

Bitcoin would do just fine as is, by being a decentralized cryptocurrency for anyone to use and enjoy. But, if it were to become centralized, then it can easily be shut down by governments, banks, or other external entities. The most important thing here, IMO would be security and reliability, and if Bitcoin would need to sacrifice its speed and efficiency for such features, then it would be ideal to preserve its decentralization for years to come. In the end, I believe that Bitcoin being a decentralized cryptocurrency would be more favorable as people will be able to use it regardless of their financial status, race, gender, political influence, among other things. Just my opinion :)

If you want Bitcoin to become a centralized system which is governed and controlled by only few people, then there are many other system you can easily switch to them like PayPal, western union Payments and most importantly banks. You will not face the problem of decentralized system which is governed by people, hence giving every individual power rather you will be a puppet in the hands of few people only.

If bitcoin become centralized, it's not anymore differ to fiat currency that controlled by the government,''Big Whales'' has the sovereignity to dictate it's
preferential price in the market. It's no more secured because it will pass on a single point of data collection (timestamp) and it's very weak against hacker's. Ergo,  there is a higher probability that you will lose your precious coins.

Likewise, decentralized network provide more privacy and security to your wealth, because blockchain is not timestamp, they’re built in such a way that they cannot be modified once they’ve been recorded. Hacker's has to get thru multiple computers to hack to the network, it's a great tool for every single individual. Blockchain is for everyone.

This makes the use case centralized and this is not good for Bitcoin. Why develop a decentralized technology, if you are going to use it in a centralized way?

Most problems occur when services are centralized, so we should start to promote that. Ask your merchant if you can pay directly to a Bitcoin address and not via payment processors or exchanges.

A centralized Bitcoin has its advantages because most governments would welcome the crypto currency into their country and a lot of them will unban it making it soar even higher than usual. So in terms of financial profits, a centralized bitcoin will be good for the investors.

Exactly. There's a wide variety of centralized choices in this world which are regulatory compliant and don't have scalability issues. However, I believe that decentralized payment systems like Bitcoin are the way to go for many obvious reasons. The level of freedom, and accessibility, allows Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to grow at a faster rate in terms of usage and popularity. Since no single entity can control a decentralized cryptocurrency like Bitcoin, people can rest assured that their funds are safe against freezing or confiscation from third parties.

Centralized systems like PayPal, Ripple, Visa, and Mastercard, are extremely vulnerable to freezing of funds, confiscation, single points of failure, and more. Therefore, Bitcoin would be best to stay as a decentralized cryptocurrency for years to come even if it must sacrifice its efficiency in the mainstream world, to maintain its true value proposition. Being decentralized, means that it's extremely resistant to external manipulation, attacks, and more. Just my thoughts ;D

In my opinion the decentralized cryptocurrency has revived people's freedom and for that the need for Bitcoin increases every second. Without a third person, the money as much as you want can be send to every point of the world with a small fee and it is a great invention for humanity. I don't think people will use the old system anymore after looking at the taste of the decentralized system.

What is broad set of charges, i did not understand the depletion feature you are talking about bitcoin. I cannot understand your logic here  ::) bitcoin is decentralized and if people are using centralized exchanges and wallet provider, so what ?, they are just using those services because they find it easy for them to handle things, that is what we need, we need good front end system for bitcoin so that everyone will be able to use it and even my grand parents need to use it, if that is what it takes to be used by everyone, why not.

Decentralized or centralized beckkoin. Both have a number of advantages and disadvantages. One thing is clear: if it is decentralized, it will be poorly accepted by the states, and its high volatility will not allow us to use bitcoin as the main currency, as well as currency in international settlements. In addition, the high volatility of bitcoin will hamper the achievement of its high cost. With the high volatility of bitcoin, a panic among investors will arise earlier than it can reach high costs. Therefore, the decentralized nature of bitcoin will prevent the achievement by bitcoin of those qualities that we would like to see in it.

decentralized of course, because that is the platform of bitcoin and cryptos, where once you get the money it will be forever yours, no laws or orders can take it away from you, because when work so hard and get paid but still there is a chance that our money being "stolen" by the laws, that scenario will not happen with bitcoin, that is why it is important to have decentralized system around, as a "second opinion".

every second there is always someone trying to hack and steal bitcoin, it is certainly a very risky if bitcoin security level is not enough, one of the systems that make safe bitcoin is a decentralized system where every bitcoin financial transaction is recorded and needs to be confirmed on each block before reaching the intended wallet, I would agree more with this system

Decentralization of Bitcoin is what gives it a very huge edge in the market. Though government wished they could gain control of it, centralization, which is why they always want to know what and how the technology works. Decentralization enables everyone to participate and operate freely. It promotes privacy and security.

It's better off for Bitcoin to remain as a decentralized cryptocurrency for many obvious reasons. First, people would want to use money that they could always control. Second, they would want to preserve their wealth for a long time without ever having to worry about governments or any other third party freezing their assets. The opposite side of this, is centralization where Bitcoin could be exposed to external attacks, and easy manipulation from a single entity.

While there's a tradeoff between decentralization and efficiency, I often prefer Bitcoin to stay decentralized even if it doesn't manage to handle a large amount of transactions per second. Therefore, I hope that it could stay as is for quite a long time.

I still believe bitcoin should be a decentralized cryptocurrency. This way no one could manipulate it's power. Imagine that if it happens that bitcoin becomes a centralized coin, lots of capitalists and greedy individuals would come rushing and do all means to be able to lay their hands on bitcoin to manipulate it. Moreover, it would be harder for people outside the cpuntry of operation of bitcoin to buy because it will mostly focus inside the country whatever measure we take. So bitcoib being decentsralized is more than enough.

may be better decentralized because in each country has its own authority over their finances if centrally there will regulate the State's finances over other countries, perhaps with the existing system well only I think the existence of bitcoin amid advances in good technology in facilitation so no news negative about the presence of bitcoin and bitcoin can also stimulate the economy with the help of investors.

I think its not centralization that the other citizens want. Many users are using Bitcoin because of its decentralization. Maybe most of us wants is better security among hackers and scammers. We want laws regarding Bitcoin fraud and related crimes. Bitcoin will always be decentralized.

Agree. Bitcoin should stay decentralized as is for years to come. There's no reason to make it a centralized currency, as doing so will destroy Bitcoin and the blockchain's true value proposition. Being decentralized, means freedom, resistant against external attacks, and immutable record of transactions. But, a centralized permissioned cryptocurrency or blockchain will suffer from many disadvantages such as single points of failure, limited access, and confiscation of funds.

In the end, Bitcoin and most cryptocurrencies will do better as decentralized systems since they're open for anyone to audit, join them, or secure them without restrictions or limitations whatsoever. Just my thoughts ;D

Honestly, I prefer if this bitcoin is centralized. If the bitcoin is centralized then it can be monitored its distribution. Another advantage is the sense of security and assurance that bitcoin has a small chance of loss. In addition, bitcoin will be more difficult to use for criminal activities, such as money laundering, illegal trade, and fraud. This happens if there is an official institution that controls and governs its existence.

What are the advantages of bitcoin being centralised at all?

If that was ever to become reality, then bitcoin would just be another incarnation of fiat currency controlled by a central entity, most likely a government. Isn't this what we're trying to work away from with bitcoin as a currency? It simply does not make any sense to me to revert back to the old, centralised system, when you have a working decentralised system.

The only thing why people are worried about bitcoin being decentralised is its volatility, and some argue that a central bank is needed to keep it stable. However, I think volatility is a complete non-issue. Gold was volatile. Silver was volatile. Yet people still used them as currency, with no issues. As long as it is a long term store of value ( which fiat isn't), then it's something good. And bitcoin is that at this moment, being decentralised.

The concept of this thing is really to be anonymous in transacting around the world, but since KYC is required now I think a decentralized market are slowly become a centralized thing.

Agree. All regulations imposed by governments would simply affect centralized exchanges instead of decentralized cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. This is because Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies can be supported by anyone around the world regardless of location, political status, among other things. Since Bitcoin provides freedom, even if its banned in a country (like China for example) it can continuously be used by their citizens in a peer-to-peer fashion. While it may not be possible to trade Bitcoin against fiat in a centralized exchange, it can still be traded in person.

Therefore, regulations such as KYC and AML usually apply to centralized exchanges (and some decentralized exchanges) which use crypto-to-fiat trading pairs. Exchanges which only trade cryptocurrencies (crypto-to-crypto) are not subject to this rule as far as I'm aware of. This applies in most decentralized exchanges where they only provide crypto-to-crypto trading pairs.

In the end, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies will remain unstoppable if they stay decentralized. But if Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies become centralized, then it will be their doom as governments would be able to enforce regulations at will. Just my thoughts ;D

Exactly. Bitcoin's main value proposition is decentralization, and if it turns out to become centralized in the future, then it would fail. People would want to use decentralized cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin to preserve freedom over their funds. With this, no one can control anyone's assets, as control is given back to the user of the currency.

Therefore, it would be best for Bitcoin to remain as decentralized as possible to prevent third parties from ever controlling it. If it stays as is, then it could be considered as a safe-haven for anyone who's looking to secure their money against government manipulations and other undesired situations in the mainstream world. But bitcoin is still mine-able if you have necessary amount of funds to invest, I believe bitcoin mining is getting harder each day as there are already many coins mined by various people already. Out of 21 million bitcoin we have already accessed 17 million and if mining is made easier then everyone will easily generate new bitcoin which will disturb its financial system.

This point cannot be related to centralization of the system and the definition of decentralized system is still supported by bitcoin. Hence, there is no argument if its decentralized or not.

bitcoin's most important features is its decentralized structure. bitcoin has no central control: no central repository of information, no central management, and, crucially, no central point of failure. and yet, most of the actual services and businesses built within the bitcoin ecosystem are centralized. they are run by specific people, in specific locations, with specific computer systems, and they are susceptible to specific legal entanglements.

Before you want bitcoin to be centralized, you should first know what decentralization and centralization are.

Centralization is the existence of a single ruler who is central to power, establishing taxes and laws. the system was first established by a state based on the royal system (feudalism).

Decentralization is a system in which overall decision-making is left to the users of the system and the absence of any individual who can impose his will on other individuals without the consent of the majority of system users.

The decentralization system is applied because it is now widely used democratic system in a country that is supported by It high technology. then if we want the decentralization system replaced by centralization then the application of the system back to the days of the kingdom and without any supportive technology.

Completely agree with you, mate. Decentralization is the way to go since it gives the power back to the people instead of corporations, governments, or other centralized entities. The level of success that Bitcoin has experienced today, is due to its decentralized nature. However, if it becomes centralized then investors might flee into another cryptocurrency which is decentralized as Bitcoin becomes extremely vulnerable to 51% attacks and external manipulations.

Eventually, I believe that most centralized systems might fail in the future, as decentralized systems would provide unparalleled security, reliability and other benefits which are too hard to ignore in the mainstream world. Ripple or should I say XRP, is centralized and it could fail anytime, considering that it relies on banks and governments to succeed. The moment its internal company decides to freeze assets on the XRP ledger, or governments decide to take over the network, then the whole system will collapse.

On the other hand, that's not the case with decentralized cryptos like Bitcoin and Ethereum, where nodes are widely distributed across the world, and there's a lot of hashrate backing them. For governments or other entities to succeed in destroying such decentralized systems, they would need to spend a lot of money to perform a 51% attack, block BTC nodes, among others to disrupt the network. However, as the number of nodes and miners grow on the network, the cryptocurrency becomes stronger and impenetrable against external attacks. Therefore, decentralized cryptos like Bitcoin and Ethereum will win as they become unstoppable over time. Just my opinion :)

How to control the miners in other coins that are also too influential? In decentralization the criminals are free so this is also a problem. Centralization is much worse though as the top as always will rule and control everything according to their means.

Yes. Unfortunately, centralized exchanges have taken over the trading of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, defeating the whole purpose of eliminating the middleman. While decentralized exchanges have emerged, they haven't gathered the level of popularity and usage among people in the mainstream world. Their liquidity is far less than that of centralized exchanges, leaving decentralized ones behind.

This is bad, since governments would be able to enforce regulations easily on any centralized exchange and restrict the trading of certain (if not all) cryptocurrencies. Also, centralized exchanges would become susceptible to hacks and theft, in contrast to decentralized exchanges where no single company or entity controls it. In this sense, Bitcoin and most cryptocurrencies are centralized, simply because they're dependent on centralized exchanges for trades.

However, if decentralized exchanges become improved in terms of speed and efficiency, then most people would trade on them, allowing liquidity to rise, and eventually replacing centralized exchanges as we know it. Therefore, I believe that it's best for Bitcoin to remain as decentralized as possible, to preserve its true value proposition, which is the removal of third-party intervention, as well as giving the power back to the people. Only time will tell us, if Bitcoin will remain this way in the future, or not. Just my thoughts ;D

But somehow, numerous citizens want also the bitcoin to be centralized, because others believes it can remove barricades and walls to allow more easily reached and democratized financial and economic infrastructure.
For you what is your own perspective regarding this matter?

Centralization of bitcoin negates the purpose it was established or created for, with its decentralized feature there is no bank or government that can regulates or manipulates it because of the trustfulness of the technology behind it (blockchain) I fully supports decentralization of it.

That's certainly true, mate. I believe that there's no way Bitcoin can become centralized in the future, simply because people would want to keep it as decentralized as possible. Decentralization has many benefits that would be too hard to ignore for everyday people. This is a key feature for Bitcoin as it eliminates central control from a single entity (or group of entities) bringing the power back to the people. In this sense, Bitcoin can be considered as the People's Money, since anyone can support the cryptocurrency and use it without restrictions whatsoever. No matter what your age is, or your race, or even your gender, you can freely use Bitcoin without a single limitation in contrast to centralized currencies like FIAT.

Therefore, if Bitcoin wants to succeed, then it needs to preserve its decentralization as it's one of the value propositions of true blockchain technology. Security, resilience, decentralization, and immutability are key towards the longevity of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies within our world. On the other hand, having a centralized cryptocurrency would be synonymous to having a bank do all the work for you. This means that the middleman would interfere with all your financial activity, when that's not the purpose cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin were created for. As such, in all means, Bitcoin should retain that decentralization no matter what happens in the mainstream world. Just my thoughts ;D

A decentralized system is a very good thing, I think so.  It is a more modern approach to the development of any sphere of our existence. When there are several control centers, it is much better because Monopoly is the last century.
Yeah you're right I think this system is more friendly than centralization full of government monopoly. besides this system makes a lot of people more free in storing and using their money. of course this is what many people expect about financial freedom. I think most people would like decentralization

Bitcoin gained its popularity because of decentralization. And as it gain attention from small to big time investors, some governments became aware of it and some government sees it as a security treath, banning it from the country.

Some people now wanted it to be regulated so market could expand and gain more investors specially now that bitcoin has plunged down drastically for the past few months.

In my view, i think, it might be better decentralized because in some countries have their own authority over their finances. If centralized, there will be governing the finances of the State over other countries, perhaps with the existing system is good only I think the existence of bitcoin amid advances in technology good in facilitation so that no negative news stories about the existence of bitcoin and bitcoin can also stimulate the economy with the help of investors so much development of technology-based projects so that's it according to my view.

but bitcoin must do innovate to maintain its existence, if it can not keep its value, then bitcoin will be downtrend.

How did you come up with that? I never heard anyone saying that they want bitcoin, or any other crypto centralized. Some people advocate that regulation is important, so that bitcoin is legitimized, which would result in more confidence for the investors that want to jump in, but that is a complete different story.

In my opinion it doesn't make any sense for BTC, or any other crypto to become centralized. The power of the blockchain is exactly that. Being able to be completely decentralized and secure/trustworthy at the same time.

Decentralized, there's no other way for a coin to succeed. We have so many centralized systems, fiat  money, banking, corporations, we are living in centralized countries where governments are deciding for us. It's time that more things became decentralized.

Exactly. If Bitcoin becomes centralized, then it would be more like fiat currency issued by a central authority. There would be no use for the Bitcoin blockchain, since people's funds would be subject to all the downsides inherent within government-issued currencies like the US Dollar. Therefore, what keeps Bitcoin alive is its decentralization. Due to such property, anyone can gain control over their own funds without worrying about confiscation, or negative events in the real world. Bitcoin is immune from politics, inflation, and external manipulation. Its success has been driven because of such factors, which I believe that it will experience constant demand over time.

Nevertheless, Bitcoin as a decentralized cryptocurrency would do just fine, to maintain itself as a store of value, and a safe-haven against real world assets/commodities. In case where you cannot receive funding in fiat currency (because of a government freezing your bank account), you can always count on Bitcoin since no one can stop you from transacting in it (even if its banned on a country) simply because of its decentralized nature. Just my opinion :)

Yes. That's very unfortunate for Bitcoin, as now big mining pools have the most dominance over the Bitcoin network. This in effect, removes small miners (or everyday people) from participating on the security of the network, increasing the risk of 51% attacks over the long term. As such, Bitcoin can be considered as a semi-decentralized cryptocurrency, instead of an 100% decentralized cryptocurrency.

The way I see it, a decentralized cryptocurrency would need to have a fair consensus algorithm, fair distribution, and geographically distributed nodes. In this sense, it would be completely impenetrable against external attacks, making a full decentralized cryptocurrency that's built to last.

Despite this, it's better for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to preserve their decentralization, as that's the purpose why blockchain technology was created in the first place. Being censorship resistant, immutable, and transparent, is what makes a blockchain highly secure, efficient, and successful for years to come. Therefore, I believe that decentralized cryptos like Bitcoin will most likely succeed over centralized payment processors in the future. Just my thoughts ;D

All Bitcoin users want it to remain decentralized because they hate banks policies and seeing their money being controlled by someone else.

Exactly. People are tired of banks, and governments taking over their freedom and hard-earned funds. That's why the blockchain was presented with Bitcoin in the first place, to show the world that a financial system could exist without the need to trust a single entity. With this, no middleman or third-party would be able to interfere in such system, giving the power back to the people. Such model is decentralized, and it's one of the reasons why Bitcoin and other blockchain-based cryptocurrencies are successful. But, if Bitcoin becomes centralized, then it wouldn't be called a blockchain as it would require the trust of middlemen just like the bank.

And if this happens, people would stop using Bitcoin as their funds would be at risk. Therefore, Bitcoin is fine as is, and there's no need for it to become centralized in the future. However, it depends if the people want to keep it that way or not. Just my thoughts ;D

Exactly. It wouldn't make sense for Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency to become centralized, since the whole purpose of blockchain's inception was to provide a payment system free from middleman, and central control. A centralized cryptocurrency would have the same characteristics of a government-issued fiat currency, making it worthless over time. We already have a centralized "cryptocurrency" called Ripple which is dominated by its own internal company. However, it's level of success would be determined on the number of people using it in the mainstream world. If we compare decentralized cryptos vs centralized cryptos, then we'll notice that decentralized ones are much stronger and have greater adoption than centralized ones.

Therefore, I strongly believe that Bitcoin should remain as decentralized as possible, because that gives it a fair advantage over fiat or centralized payment processors like VISA. Only time will tell how everything will end up, whenever centralized systems would take over, or decentralized ones will win. Just my thoughts ;D

Honestly, I prefer if bitcoin is made in a centralized system. I choose centralization because I pity bitcoin longer to be a victim of bad guys who use bitcoin for negative transactions. If bitcoin is made centralized then these bad guys will think twice in using bitcoin for transactions. Crime through bitcoin is also getting easier to track if implementing a centralized system. Then, another centralized advantage is that the price of bitcoin will tend to be stable. If there are parties that set the bitcoin then the determination of the price will be more controlled so that no longer guided by the supply and demand to the market.

That's certainly true, mate. Bitcoin is NOT anonymous by design. While Bitcoin addresses don't explicitly show your name or personal information, they can be linked to your identity if you frequently use a single address on the network. Not only that, but it's possible to view the balances of each address and where did payments originate or where did they go to. As such, privacy coins like Zencash, ZCash, and Bitcoin Private are the best choice to remain anonymous. In terms of decentralization, I must admit that Bitcoin is not fully decentralized compared with some coins in existence to date. This is because, there have been a few players in the mining space which have the most dominance in hashrate within the Bitcoin network. Effectively, ASIC mining equipment and big mining pools, have made Bitcoin centralized one way or the other.

In contrast, coins like Zencash and Ravencoin are decentralized simply because they're ASIC-resistant and have well-distributed nodes across the world (like Zencash). With Zencash's Secure Nodes incentives, it encourages everyday people into running a full node for ZEN to make the network stronger and better than ever. Therefore, in the end, decentralized systems will win, while centralized ones might fail in the long-term. Just my thoughts ;D

Just to add
With Bitcoin, you can even know where the wallet is hosted (when it's a web-based wallet, exchanges, etc...)
It may be possible for a country against crypto to block Bitcoin and even Zcash but Zencash uses domain fronting method that hides the endpoint of a communication. With this then good luck. Privacy-centric cryptocurrencies are still not a lot considered compared to some, but soon it could be a standard to use privacy coin

i think the initial goal of bitcoin is to decentralizing the model of financial system to minimilizing the inefficiency of the old centralized system. Centralized system is also good for financial system, but if bitcoin also being centralized, i don't understand wheres the differences with the old model. Beside that in my own preferences i like the decentralized system more.

bitcoin must be decentralized if it change into a centralized currency it can be worse and crush the idea of the freedom of transaction and that can make us bound with the resctrication again,
Centralize currency means an currency which is control by any government or authority where as decentralised currency means those currency which are doesn't control by any person or authority. In centralize currency you cannot control the growth of the currency and you have no freedom in its use. Where as in decentralised currency you can manipulate the growth of the currency. In centralize currency you have to pay tax to your respective government but In decentralised currency you doesn't have to pay tax. Centralize currency are more stable than decentralised currency.

Wanting bitcoin to be centralized is simply wrong. It was made to exclude middle man, and because of that it should stay the way it is. I understand that many people got used to old ways, but we must strive to find a better way of doing things. Maybe having centralized crypto could be good thing, but my opinion is opposite.

With decentralized we cannot able survive for long time. Most of the people does not like the centralized medium since the more people comes to control the power of crypto currencies but with some regulation we cannot still accept the decentralized medium for centralized payment system.

If the currency payment evolves to next level then you will see the crypto currencies is the source to change the marketplace.

Bitcoin i think would rather be decentralized because its activities particularly those regarding planning and decision-making,
are distributed or delegated away from a central, authoritative location or group. Therefore, one is empowered to make their own decisions, giving them a sense of importance and making them feel
as if they have more input in the direction of the organization. When centralized, organizational structures focus management authority
and decision-making in a single executive team, with information flowing from top managers to various units.

It is prefer to be an cryptocurrency that has no anyone who can control its system in terms of transaction that is supported by the blockchain. Decentralized. A coin that is centralized is just like the fiat, but runs and managed by a private company. Think about ripple, I have ripple in my possession but, the thing is. That xrp is mined, managed and controlled by a single company which I think negates to one of the core value of bitcoin being decentralized. But until now xrp is still in trading platform. There are news about merger, new investors and utilization. But at the end, that coin is not for the people, it is create by business people for business purposes. I still believe that an open source project and decentralized and managed by all the people coin is much more greater.

Title: Re: DECENTRALIZED OR CENTRALIZED?

theoretically decentralization is certainly better because it guarantees the security of the protocol. The positive but also negative bitcoin thing is that in case of theft or errors you can not go back what you can do in a centralized protocol. People need help and it's not so easy to keep their savings safe

Agree. Both decentralized and centralized systems have their advantages and disadvantages one from another. However, I believe that decentralized systems will always prevail over centralized ones, simply because they're secure and resilient against attacks from third parties. Bitcoin being a decentralized cryptocurrency has such benefits, and it explains why it's been a successful medium of exchange after all these years. Turning itself into a centralized system would not be such a good idea, since it can be easily manipulated by third parties.

Unfortunately, that's case with Ripple, since it's a "cryptocurrency" that's maintained and controlled by its internal company. The most share of XRP tokens are owned by the Ripple company itself, putting at risk the long-term viability of such centralized system. Therefore, if Bitcoin maintains a decentralized cryptocurrency, then it will continue to rise both in demand and value over time. However, if all the contrary happens, then Bitcoin will be doomed as well as most cryptocurrencies in existence to date (since they're dependent on Bitcoin's progress as a reserve currency). Just my thoughts ;D

I believe that the most important feature of bitcoin is that it is decentralized and anonymous. It is a kind of offshore currency that is not owned by anyone and cannot be accountable to the state. Depending on where you live, centralized currency can not solve all the problems involving money laundering and other criminal acts. Fiat currency (cash) is good for those kind of things too. At the end people will always find a way to do their business.

bitcoin is decentralized yet, but if 51% of all bitcoins fall into one hand, it will automatically become centralized.

Bitcoin is getting near to a 51% control in network hashrate by a single mining entity called Bitmain. This is very bad, because if Bitmain's monopoly over ASIC hardware expands, then it would have complete control over the Bitcoin network. At any moment, China could force Bitmain to shut down all its mining operations, severely affecting Bitcoin's security and long-term sustainability. On the other hand, China could force Bitmain to perform a 51% attack on the Bitcoin network to disrupt it and turn it into a useless chain.

As such, any possibility could exist for Bitcoin to become centralized because of its current PoW algorithm. If Bitcoin were like other decentralized coins in the market today, which have implemented ASIC-resistant algorithms, then it wouldn't have the risk of a 51% attack since the hashrate would be spread out by people around the world with access to CPUs or GPUs. However, the way Bitcoin is leading to, is towards centralization unfortunately, as big mining pools (mainly operated by Bitmain) have the most dominance on the Bitcoin network.

Therefore, what once started as a decentralized cryptocurrency, could turn out to become centralized in the future if the developers and the community don't do something about it. This is like the internet where it once started as a decentralized system, but now it's highly centralized controlled by big corporations like Google, Microsoft, and Facebook. Just my thoughts ;D

Perhaps, indeed, Bitcoin's centralization would break some barriers that are bothering at the moment, but it seems to me that the decentralized form of Bitcoin is much better. Decentralization ensures that everyone is equal to the blockchain and that no fraud or theft is usually possible. Furthermore, Bitcoin's decentralization defends us against a 51% attack that would violate all of the mechanics and deprive a lot of people around the world.

The main aim of cryptocurrency is decentralization, personally I think  bitcoin is decentralized and I think centralization is going to defeat its purpose as it will allow for enhanced manipulation and capable controlling it . so its more better and fulfilling for decentralization is the future of peer to peer transaction.

Decentralize is better and butin the future it is not famouse more because there are some faliures of decentralizing such as it may be hacked some times. But this peer to peer transaction method is better and easier. it should be developed in the future.

if only so centralized maybe Bitcoin will lose its indigo because Bitcoin's basic nature does not want to be set by others or set by Bank and Financial Institution.

Bitcoin has also been centralized when entering the Exchange to trade with Altcoins, so the Exchange was in lieu of a conventional Bank.

bitcoin is decentralized yet, but if 51% of all bitcoins fall into one hand, it will automatically become centralized.

Although there is tremendous potential in e-commerce, the real potential is held within the blockchain itself. This technology is beneficial to all business, including large corporations in which it is already being utilized.
For example, NASDAQ unveiled it's use of blockchain technology when they launched its "Nasdaq Linq blockchain ledger technology", which is used to successfully complete and record private securities transactions for Chain.com—the inaugural Nasdaq Linq client.

https://www.nasdaq.com/article/how-stock-exchanges-are-experimenting-with-blockchain-technology-cm801802

It is the ability of the blockchain technology to create a ledger on all bitcoin-using platforms that shines light on the many possibilities that a decentralized marketplace has for businesses and e-commerce.
When it comes to funds, it is the goal of every business to seek security, as well as efficiency, two aspects that are more evident in a decentralized marketplace rather than one that is centralized.

There will always be a degree of centralization with cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin, given that centralization generally improves efficiency. The issue with bitcoin is how it has undertaken resolving its scaling issue. Obviously mining has become centralized, but the transactions on the main chain are currently decentralized. Hopefully the mining issues can be resolved.

Bitcoin does not need to be centralized before it can reach its full potential. The power of Bitcoin reaching its potential lies in the hands of the people and not any central authority body. The governments can only alleviate the FUD it has created in some people by announcing the legitimacy of Bitcoin after a number of checks have been implemented on our various exchange sites to check KYC and AML.

A centralized system is good such that there is always a management that oversees things. However there are concerns about bitcoin controlled because some freedom as investors might be taken away like when too much taxation can be imposed. Similar to exchanges for cryptocurrencies where the investors or coin buyer may not have the right to question their pricing values as a result it will be hard for you to really gain some profit.

Humans are greedy and it is the main source of problem and whatever system we may choose as long as human nature does not change for good then both centralized and decentralized system will encounter problems on the way.

Yes sir! While there's no perfect system in this world, we as humans are responsible for making good use of our money whenever it is. Sometimes, because of greed, we tend to ruin the whole purpose of a system, making it centralized in the long run. Ripple is a good example of this, since it started with good beginnings, but now it is extremely centralized by its own company. It's just like the internet where it started as a decentralized system, but then it turned out to become centralized due to corporate interests from big companies such as Google, Facebook, and Amazon.

While Bitcoin is still decentralized, there could exist a high possibility to become centralized in the future, because of human greed. We've seen many times how the Chinese sector has most control over Bitcoin's mining hashrate, which is only a result of greed as they develop new miners that defeat the purpose of ASIC resistance (like it has been done with ZEC, ETH, and more). As such, if Bitcoin continues to be dominated by China, then it'll present a huge risk towards its longevity, since it can be disrupted at will. Some say that 100% decentralization is practically impossible and a myth, since there is always a certain level of centralization in any system. Bitcoin operates the same way, where mining pools have centralized the mining process, making the cryptocurrency a semi-decentralized one, rather than a fully decentralized one.

All in all, I wish that Bitcoin would remain as decentralized as possible, as I think that it'll lead it towards future success. The reason why it's still demanded and used by anyone around the world, it's because of its decentralization. And if that is taken away from the original cryptocurrency, then the whole ecosystem would be doomed. :(

If Bitcoin becomes centralized and wins the bids of the governments, it will cease to offer numerous of its benefits we see now. The government through centralization will wish to get absolute control over the transactions of Bitcoin and impose higher transaction fees (tax inclusive) to every transaction made with Bitcoin. This will eventually lead to a slower transaction speed as the transaction will first have to pass through the various Blocks and also meet the approval of a third party.

Either centralized and decentralized, both of them have advantages and disadvantages as well.
cryptocurrency is a decentralized currency and asset as well, this is better to keep decentralized, because crypto is a consensus network.
i am personally dont want bitcoin to be centralized because it will change the value of bitcoin itself.
That is right that they have their advantages and disadvantages but for me, it is more solid or better if we will be in decentralized because it will give people a lot of freedom to adapt because it is the best way to live life with a decentralized system because it is not hard to live in decentralized rather than a centralized mode of system.

The most known and used feature of bitcoin is its decentralized market which is also the reason why the people have supported and used it since then so it would be really hard to convert and make it as an centralized coin. Bitcoin was mainly used by the people to avoid the taxes that is being thrown by the goverment to their purchases and transactions and also gives them anonimity but somehow abused by some and uses it in illegal ways instead. I think that the bitcoin itself cant really stand being centralized since the people have supported it because it allows them to make theirself hidden and it could also result to bitcoins downfall.

I know that centralization is bad for Bitcoin, but it seems to be heading that way, unfortunately. Considering the huge mining pool dominance in the network's hashrate, the upcoming Lightning Network, the established futures market, and more, are all signs that Bitcoin is heading towards being manipulated by the middleman. But, that was not the real purpose of Satoshi, since he/she/they wanted to create Bitcoin free from central control.

Since most people depend on centralized exchanges, and other centralized services, they're heading back to the middleman. A truly decentralized cryptocurrency would be only traded in decentralized exchanges, it's mining process would become accesible by an average person, and it would scale on-chain without the need to trust a third party (unlike the Lightning Network). Therefore, like it or not, good things come to an end, and I think that if Bitcoin started as a decentralized cryptocurrency, then it will end as a centralized one controlled by a few players (like Bitmain, Blockstream, etc). :(

I like the way a decentralized currency works but if there is a good centralized entity with a very big Team and a trustworthy project then I do not mind a centralized coin entity. I prefer though that the coins or tokens be in as many different wallets and hands as possible as the more people that own a currency, the more decentralized it feels, as opposed to only a handful of owners owning it if you understand here my point of view.

I concur with you, my friend. The world needs freedom, and it's been quite under the power of governments and central banks. It's time for decentralized cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum to blossom, as they take the world by storm. Nobody wants to transact in a centralized system, where corrupt banks, governments, or even corporations can easily manipulate it. People’s funds would be at risk there, which is why they prefer decentralized cryptocurrencies to avoid such situations.

With Bitcoin, anyone regardless of their age or race, can easily participate in a global ledger empowered by thousands of individuals around the world. Therefore, it is much better for Bitcoin to stay as decentralized as possible, than turning itself into another centralized banking system controllable by corrupt governments. ;)

Decentralized and that's why it become a bitcoin the purpose of it is so that no one could control it so the price and supply would't be manipulated. and if it become centralized who would govern it

That's the whole purpose of Bitcoin's inception back in 2009. If Satoshi wanted to make Bitcoin centralized, then he wouldn't had proposed a trustless system in his whitepaper. Bitcoin and blockchain technology works as intended when operated in a decentralized manner. Taking that key characteristic, will make the cryptocurrency more like a centralized database which can be modified or pruned at any point in time.

I'm sure that for the benefit of Bitcoin, the community and developers would find a solution to make the original cryptocurrency as decentralized as possible. If it stays this way, then anyone around the world, can easily get access to the Bitcoin economy without restrictions or limitations. With good effort and perseverance, Bitcoin and the whole blockchain ecosystem can reach new heights as a decentralized system free from central control. :)

Decentralized currency or peer to peer money is a bank free method used to transfer wealth or ownership of any other commodity without the need of a third party. But most nations adhere to the fiat currency model. What this means is that all currency value such a nation is held by a central bank, with that value being backed only by the central bank's willingness to honor the obligation. This value is represented in physical currency- paper bills, coins, and bank instruments such as bank transfers and certificates of deposit. The value of the money in your pocket right now will always be controlled by a central bank that may be acting outside your best interest. And Decentralized currency is different. decentralized currency value is represented by the currency coin an encrypted piece of computer code that is difficult to reproduce, easy to verify.

That's certainly true, mate. Decentralized and Centralized systems may have their respective advantages/disadvantages, but it's best to balance between both to create a an effficient cryptocurrency. Bitcoin being a decentralized cryptocurrency, has some areas of it which are centralized. While there's no such thing as 100% decentralization, Bitcoin has managed to balance between both decentralization and centralization to create an efficient and stable system for the enjoyment of all.

Many would agree that Bitcoin's mining process is quite centralized. However, at some point, it's necessary to bring unmatched security to the cryptocurrency itself. Because of the many ASICs available right now on the network (although being mostly controlled by Bitmain), Bitcoin has managed to become extremely secure against external attacks. However, there could exist the possibility that Bitmain could attack Bitcoin with its 51% control of mining hashrate, effectively centralizing the cryptocurrency.

Making Bitcoin 100% decentralized, is nearly impossible, IMO since there will always exist a level of centralization within any kind of system. The most important thing is that Bitcoin stays as decentralized as possible, to prevent external manipulation and allow people from around the world to use it safely without worries. Just my opinion :)

It's up to the people to decide whenever they would want to keep Bitcoin as decentralized as possible or not. AFAIK, most people don't care about Bitcoin's decentralization, and only see it as a tool to make money in the long term. They don't believe in the benefits of Bitcoin as a cryptocurrency free from middleman, but just as a money-making machine. For these reasons, Bitcoin could become centralized in the future, if there's no supportive force to preserve its decentralization.

To contribute with this, I believe that Bitcoin needs an incentive structure for nodes, to attract anyone into running a full node and further decentralize the network. On the other hand, ASICs should be more accessible as nowadays not anyone is able to afford such equipment to help secure the network. Bringing equality on all sides (node and miners) will make sure that Bitcoin remains as decentralized as possible within the future. While there's no such thing as 100% decentralization, I believe that Bitcoin could do better to reduce central control as much as possible.

Nevertheless, time will tell us what will happen with Bitcoin's long-term stability as a decentralized cryptocurrency or all the way around it. Just my opinion :)

There can be no centralization as everyone own a piece of it and you do not need any central authority to approve or reject your transactions as you do with banks

Probably. However, anything could happen as everything is driven by greed nowadays. If Bitmain sees Bitcoin as the perfect opportunity to expand its profits over time, then they'll do whatever there is in their disposal to centralize the pioneer cryptocurrency for their own interests. Even worse, if the Chinese government starts pressuring Bitmain to attack the Bitcoin blockchain, it could successfully do so since it owns more than 51% of the total hashrate on the network. Nowadays, many people aren't concerned about this because they only care about making money with Bitcoin but not about its future and longevity as a currency for the enjoyment of everyone worldwide.

As soon as the negative effects of centralization are experienced in Bitcoin, then you'll see everyone worried about it, but it'll be too late. That's why I believe that developers and the community need to work together to help decentralize Bitcoin's mining process. By changing the PoW algorithm to an ASIC-resistant one, or simply devising an algorithm which makes mining pools useless, Bitcoin could achieve greater decentralization over the long term.

Nevertheless, Bitcoin is still considered as a decentralized cryptocurrency as it's open for anyone to join it. However, it's not as decentralized as it used to be in the past, since Bitmain has taken control of the mining process. Only time will tell us what lies ahead for the value proposition of censorship resistance within Bitcoin's blockchain. Just my thoughts ;D

If Bitcoin becomes centralized then the principle is destroyed and there will be nothing like bitcoin again.Because bitcoin is decentralized is major reason why the government is fighting the it. Bitcoin is designed to be peer to peer (send /receive). It is designed to be decentralized. That is why the technology behind it is BLOCKCHAIN. No 3rd party is involved to confirm transactions. The blockchain technology confirms the transactions. However, when exchanging form one coin/token, the services of a 3rd party may be involved. The exchanges now become centralized because a third party has come in. The idea behind bitcoin is:  “Be your Own bank”. No third party involved.

Blockchain technology can become centralized in the future, even if its purpose was to become a decentralized system after all. We've seen that private blockchains are a reality, as companies and even governments have established their own blockchains which only they have access to. Considering how centralized Bitcoin mining is becoming each day, there's a huge possibility that the original cryptocurrency would become a centralized system controlled by a few select individuals.

The problem here is the unfair mining process designed into Bitcoin itself, which has promoted mining pools with a lot of hashrate leaving the little guy (or small miner) out of the system. If somehow Bitcoin devs could devise a solution to put an end to mining pools, then without a doubt, Bitcoin will remain decentralized for a very long time. But until this happens, I don't see any improvement towards full decentralization, in my own opinion. All in all, I hope that won't be the case as Bitcoin remains decentralized for the benefit of everyone around the world. :D

Faster and cheaper transactions? Well, in the past it is but with a lot of transactions being made every single minute, I don't think the Blockchain can take it. That is the reason why some developments are made to make a solution to these problems.

It is efficient and so convenient but the problem is that it has still it's fees. There are a lot of other payment methods, faster and cheap, free in fact. So I don't think we need to say Bitcoin is great in terms of transactions or payment method. Bitcoin is a great investment, an asset that grows through time and I guess let's just stick to that.

Other than that, bitcoin is often lauded by enthusiasts for the same reason that it’s feared by critics, that is leaderless. Nobody owns it, nobody controls it, and nobody can tell it what to do. That’s what some people keeps saying that bitcoin is decentralized.

That's true. But based on your statement, I think that the term of "distributed" suits more Bitcoin than calling it "decentralized". It's partially centralized because big miners from China have all the power over Bitcoin's mining process, while whales also control a big part of the coin's supply. But, it has some level of decentralization because no single person controls the whole network. This means that Bitcoin is in fact a "distributed" cryptocurrency rather than a "decentralized" cryptocurrency. Considering that there's nothing that it's 100% decentralized, I'd say that full decentralization is just a myth.

Like it or not, there will exist some level of centralization within any system, as a few actors would gain power by using their wealth. That's what's happening with Bitcoin, as it once started as a coin accessible to anyone around the world, but now only big miners with a lot of money can participate in the consensus process to approve or disapprove certain network upgrades. Since huge improvements can be only achieved via a hard fork, they could only become activated on the Bitcoin network with the approval of the miners. And since mining is controlled by the Chinese, they'll approve what's best for them instead of what's best for the whole community.

Therefore, Bitcoin is very distant from its original vision of One CPU, One Vote. Without this, Bitcoin will become more centralized over time, I'm afraid. :(

In my opinion, The most important reason why bitcoin has been made is being a decentralised structure. On the other hand, when it comes to bitcoin exchanges, it will become centralised which is means the money, the result of exchanges is the one being centralised. It is not the bitcoin itself  being centralised. But it is only for some markets which is a centralized market. Because we also already know that there is some markets which is decentralized.

However, there is a hidden agenda to the reason why the governments are fighting for Bitcoin to be centralized. The governments are just afraid of the power decentralization brings to the people.

Bitcoin will forever be decentralized because in the first place it is and that is the best quality and feature of bitcoin so I think it will not switch to the centralized. Also it is best for bitcoin tp be decentralized for a reason that it is the feature that most of the people in here are love about. The only centralized is the exchanges.

Decentralization is very helpful to the community, no one owns us. So bitcoin decomposition is the factor why most people prefer to deal with this because they spend less time to free their finances. First of all, it's a good thing that not only few will be helped by the project or that will be created. And finally, commercial products will be popular as Western products in Asia. The basic principle of bitcoin is anonymous and decentralized, empowering bitcoin to empower the poor and make money in the hands of the people. Because decentralized bitcoins are the main reason the government fights with it. Concentrated money is being controlled by the central banks of various governments that make them government agents to carry out government procurement. BTC is designed to be decentralized. No third party to confirm transaction. However, when exchanging a penny form, 3rd party services may be involved. The idea behind the bitcoin is: "Be your own bank." I will go for decentralization, there are many advantages in a decentralized system such as avoiding price manipulation, risking transactions any time you choose.

True. That's governments' evil plan to make Bitcoin centralized and cripple its growth with their unfair regulations. Sure, it's necessary to protect investor's funds by applying regulations across many cryptocurrency exchanges, but too much regulations would be bad for the overall crypto ecosystem. With a centralized version of Bitcoin, banks and governments could easily shut it down or disrupt its functionality as there would be a single point of failure. But, a decentralized version of Bitcoin will make it nearly impossible for it to shut down as nodes are distributed within many areas of the world.

Thus, the more Bitcoin grows in mining hashrate, and node distribution, the harder it will become for governments to stop it. While Bitcoin is still decentralized these days, there is a certain level of centralization within the mining process. If that is solved, then Bitcoin would become more decentralized than ever, becoming stronger and resilient against attacks or external control. All in all, most people would prefer Bitcoin to remain decentralized for many obvious reasons. Because, if it turns all the way around, then it would be nothing but another "banking system" in the digital realm. ;D

Virtual cryptocurrency are mainly decentralised in nature where as fiat national currency are centralised in nature. Decentralised means they are not under control of any kind of government and authority and centralised currency are in control of government and any kind authority. Decentralised currency are highly unstable because they are not under any kind of regulation. Where as centralised currency are more stable and regulated currency. Decentralised currency are mainly tax free where centralised currency are exact opposite of that.

Bitcoin is Decentralized form of crypto currency and it is a free currency from any boundary or government and if we talk about other currencies they were fully controlled by central banks their demand and supply can be measured and the exchanges rate can be fixed with it. But it is good to have Decentralize currency to keep secret your wealth from others.

decentralization is good for welfare equality, but if all use this reference, then greed and even the new economic mafia will not be controlled by the government, on the other hand centralization will control all things including taxes, at least there is a price to be paid for this.

bitcoin continues to prioritize decentralization, and which has the opposite potential is altcoin, we need both to reflect balance, there will be many fiats that turn into altcoin centers in the future, and consider bitcoin as digital gold that cannot be monopolized by adaptive policies.

I agree with bitcoin, but in the end, if bitcoin wants to be actively connected with government regulations, then centralization is an absolute possibility.

Or there is another analysis that says that they will still regard bitcoin as a neutral coin system without intervention, but not for altcoin because they have active CEOs who must comply with the economic policy system.

But how the government can control bitcoin? I think bitcoin will still decentralize and the government can only make the regulation and make the tax for bitcoin user. Maybe this will be applied to the cryptocurrency and not just for bitcoin only so the government can watch the cryptocurrency market and they can make another law to prevent something bad that might happen.

The nature of bitcoin is decentralized. It is an alternative, there isn't intermediary or third party because of "unreliable" environmental prejudice if there is an appearance of intermediaries. These exchanges operate in a horizontal manner. They never store assets under trust services, and conduct transactions purely based on intelligent contracts and atomic swaps. At present, the number of decentralized trading floors is more and more likely to challenge the concentration floors in the future.

We only need regulations and approval for governments to improve the trust rating of cryptocurrency but the fact is, most of the governments in every country wants it to become centralized so they can do something about it.

That's the best feature Bitcoin has. If it loses decentralization, then I'm afraid that it will become nothing more than a centralized financial institution backed by the likes of governments around the world (just like Banks). Many governments are desperately trying to make Bitcoin centralized just so they could shut it down for good. But, due to the distributed nature of Bitcoin, it's quite impossible to achieve.

This could change though, if Bitcoin becomes centralized in every way possible. The mining sector is quite centralized as Bitmain dominates it. Mining pools have had a bad effect over Bitcoin's decentralization, leading the coin closer to centralization each day. With this, Bitcoin could become vulnerable to a 51% attack, which is pretty bad for the longevity of the cryptocurrency.

Other than that, Bitcoin would've been a fully decentralized cryptocurrency free from the likes of banks and governments around the world. Sure, they would want to enforce KYC/AML regulations to prevent money laundering, but there’s more to this as their main purpose is to destroy Bitcoin for good. ;)

Having bitcoins be centralized is just like using fiat all over again. So why use bitcoins if we have fiat in the market anyway? Being centralized disables and cancels the features of bitcoins. No one will ever use bitcoins anymore once this becomes centralized.

The fundamental principle of bitcoin is the anonymity and decentralized nature which empowers bitcoin to be able to empower the poor and makes it possible for money to be in the hands of the people. If Bitcoin becomes centralized then the principle is destroyed and there will be nothing like bitcoin again.Because bitcoin is decentralized is major reason why the government is fighting the it. The government wants to control bitcoin and  as far as they can not arm twist bitcoin to control it the next move is to destroyed bitcoin which is where we are now. Centralized currency is being control by the central banks of the various governments making them the agents of government to carry out the government bidding.

That's my concern. If Bitcoin becomes centralized, then it would be nothing more than just a banking system controlled by the likes of governments worldwide. The huge dominance of mining hashrate from Bitmain would kill Bitcoin's decentralization in the long term, as no other company would be able to compete with it in the production of efficient ASIC miners. Bitcoin has already been heading towards centralization this way, but most people don't seem to care if they're able to make money with it.

However, I believe that decentralization is one of the key aspects of blockchain technology, as it allows a cryptocurrency to remain immutable and resilient against 51% attacks. Perhaps, if Bitcoin devs would pay close attention towards the imminent threat of centralization within the Bitcoin network, then the cryptocurrency would be much more accessible to ordinary people just like it was in the good old days. A quick change in the PoW algorithm or a new mechanism that would prevent mining pools from emerging would be ideal, as it would allow Bitcoin to remain as decentralized as possible.

Therefore, if Bitcoin remains decentralized no matter what, it would pass the test as a truly immutable cryptocurrency free from government manipulation, corporate interests (Bitmain), and more. While there's no system that's 100% decentralized, it's best to preserve decentralization as much as possible. ASIC resistance might be the key to true decentralization, although the same scenario could happen with GPU mining where a single company controls most of the hashrate. Yet, it's best to balance between both PoW and PoS (hybrid model?) to allow the cryptocurrency to stay as decentralized as possible while maintaining unparalleled security. Just my thoughts ;D

its impossible for bitcoin to become centralized because it is already built to become decentalized but let say bitcoin is centralized , its function will worked differently like for example we can expect a more stable price , a more faster and inexpensive transaction/fees  , we can also expected to be taxed based on our holdings due to the fact that bitcoin is now controlled by a government organization .

lastly , bitcoin will now be used mainly as a currency and not by an asset tool . therfor i dont think that being centralized is a good idea to us  .

We would say that the main advantages of centralized exchanges are:
1. Higher liquidity than decentralized exchanges
2. Often fiat-to-crypto trading opportunities, allowing new investors to enter the market
3. Recovery of forgotten passwords generally available.

Decentralized exchanges however, generally have the following advantages:
1. Spread out servers leading to lower risk of server downtime
2. Security (essentially immune to attacks)
3. Anonymous.

Do you think the advantages above for centralized exchanges outweighs the advantages above for decentralized exchanges?

The Top 5 most popular exchanges in our Cryptocurrency Exchange List (https://www.cryptowisser.com/exchanges/) are Changelly (https://www.cryptowisser.com/exchange/changelly/), Covesting.io (https://www.cryptowisser.com/exchange/covesting-io/), BitMEX (https://www.cryptowisser.com/exchange/bitmex/), KuCoin (https://www.cryptowisser.com/exchange/kucoin/) and Crex24 (https://www.cryptowisser.com/exchange/crex24/), and those are all centralized exchanges. The first decentralized exchange is Mercatox (https://www.cryptowisser.com/exchange/mercatox/) in place 11. This is at least an indicator that decentralized exchanges are not that commonly used yet, but maybe they will be in the future.

All the best,

That's certainly true, mate. Both centralized and decentralized models have their pros and cons. However, for the longevity of the Bitcoin blockchain, it's best to approach decentralization as much as possible. This would eliminate the need for middleman or third-party intervention, making the cryptocurrency "free-for-all". Because if Bitcoin becomes centralized, then it would be nothing more than Ripple (XRP) or another financial institution (Bank). People want something where they could easily control, without the need for anyone else to interfere. Just like Cash, Bitcoin would become practical for the mainstream world.

However, we may not know for certainty if Bitcoin will remain decentralized as there are other interests from various companies within the blockchain industry looking to make a quick buck and expand their business. Bitmain is a good example of such company, where it has the most dominance in Bitcoin's hashrate. If at any point in time, it desires to disrupt the Bitcoin blockchain, it could easily do so effectively performing a 51% attack. This would make Bitcoin centralized, since a single company would have the power to determine the future of the cryptocurrency, instead of the rest of the people as a community. It's unfortunate, but the reality as Bitcoin becomes closer to centralization than we've ever imagined.

Most people in crypto land are not aware of this, and are simply looking for quick profit, but when the harm done to the Bitcoin blockchain is too big, then it'll be late to remedy it. The whitepaper states: "One CPU, One Vote", but those days are long gone. Now, Bitcoin mining is only accessible for wealthy people and companies who're able to afford expensive mining equipment and stay ahead in the competition. Unless developers put an end to mining pools for the sake of decentralization, Bitcoin would become more centralized in the mining process each day.

Despite this, Bitcoin is still somewhat decentralized as anyone can transact and run a node at will. However, it'll be up to question how Bitcoin will become within a couple of years from now. Just my thoughts ;D

Correct! With a centralized system, you get all the bad things that are inherent within the traditional banking system. Which is why, Satoshi introduced Bitcoin in the first place, to prove itself as a decentralized financial system where anyone could transact freely without the need for middleman. This last entity is the risk involved within a financial system, as they would have control over your own money. By eliminating the middleman, people would gain control over their own money for the first time in history, without fear of seizure of interference from third parties.

That's why decentralization has been the key towards Bitcoin's success after all these years. If it becomes centralized, then it would serve no purpose in this world, as it would be another banking system which has a single entity in charge of everything. That's not why cryptocurrencies were introduced to the world in the first place, since their purpose is to bring freedom to all by removing the dependency of centralized institutions which are subject to corruption, fraud, and more.

All in all, for the sake of Bitcoin's longevity as a cryptocurrency for the masses, decentralization must be preserved at all costs. :)

I prefer it decentralized still though it is more risky and prone to illegal use but this way adopters benefited much from it. This feature made bitcoin special and unpredictable. If it be centralized i dont think it will be as profitable as it is today though centralization will make it more stable.

Both have different best uses and bad uses. Decentralized is way more risky but you have the access on all your account. Meanwhile Centralized controling all your funds and organize and its more look like safer.

Bitcoin became famous because of being unique so no need to change whatever it has now. If bitcoin become centralized what makes you think that it ill be  valuable? Being in decentralized got lot of advantages like no one can control it, only the holders and big whales can manipulate but not own by the governments. If bitcoin mass adoption will continue I believed no one can manipulate it also.

Bitcoin is designed to be decentralized. The philosophy behind bitcoin is : Be Your Own Bank. To be centralized means that 3rd party or other authority have control over it. The concept behind bitcoin is decentralization. Nobody controls your money. You withdraw or fund your account (wallet) at your own time /pace.

As far as Iknow bitcoin is designed to be decentralized that is what its uniqueness among others so that so there will be privacy and all that but to centralizedit is another thing, no matter what they like it to be that way is kind a hard to change becuase its already been created that way.

We all know here that bitcoin obviously created with decentralization system, and that's the reason why it became popular and increased its price value and some prediction form the experts by 2025 bitcoin will probably become 100k$ each. And because of this decentralization almost all of us here had its own privacy to hide our personal identity because it is pseudonymous.

The decentralized institution was the idea that Bitcoin was formed and aimed at. The blockchain is just the foundation, to connect to real life, we need more than. 6 years after the blockchain was born, we have a smart contract, from which many startups jump in, many projects have To start, create multiple dApp and other commercial applications on the blockchain. Their goal is to change the areas that are damaged by the model focusing on the decentralized model.

The time is already coming when various countries begin to release their own crypto assets. In the future, there will probably be centralized, national cryptocurrencies of different countries and international decentralized assets, such as Bitcoin.

Exactly. There's no doubt that both centralized and decentralized assets will co-exist in the future. Sometimes, a decentralized system cannot fulfill certain tasks of a centralized one. The same thing happens vice versa. Which means that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies could exist as decentralized assets in the long term, while Fiat currencies would still be the norm by then. The most important thing is for cryptocurrencies to establish a distinction against centralized currencies backed by governments. Otherwise, they'll become nothing more than another centralized financial institution like Banks.

As for Bitcoin, it's hoped that it could become much more decentralized in the future. With its current state, Bitcoin is not 100% decentralized. This is mainly because its PoW algorithm is largely dominated by a single ASIC hardware manufacturer known as Bitmain. If there's a change in PoW, or simply preventing mining pools from emerging, then Bitcoin could be more decentralized than usual. For it to be that way, it's hard to tell as no one knows what will happen in the future. Therefore, Bitcoin being either decentralized or centralized in the future is like a Russian Roulette. If developers and the community work together to prevent centralization, then Bitcoin will remain that way. But if they don't, then Bitcoin would head into the likes of banks, governments, and businesses worldwide. Just my thoughts ;D

When you use decentralize in a business the price, transportation and insurancing cost would go down, and we can get everything faster. If you understand and examine the system in right way you can have success easily in every where in the world. So the system brought us fairplay in business..

We need decentralized exchanges and not centralized versions, how many times have we heard of an exchange getting hacked and most of the time it is suspected this was an internal job, so it is better that we have decentralized exchanges in which you are always in control of your coins and there is not risk of the exchange freezing your coins just because you are trading too much.

I don't think decentralized offer more freedom than centralized do. Centralize of bitcoin can even give more freedom and safety than it is not control by any central authority now.

We all know this that bitcoin is a decentralised crypto currency and this is all because there is no such proper authentic regulating body over the bitcoin who could keep eye over all its activities and specifically the illegal one like the major issue with the regulation of bitcoin is because of its lack of regulation and thus leading to illegal use like in selling drugs, explosives, money laundering etc and the most importantly the terrorism and because of which almost every country is in against of legalisation of bitcoin and the solution to this problem is the government of each nation keep eye over all its activities.

I don't think we can change the nature of decentralized bitcoin. and I think bitcoin will be better if it remains decentralized. maybe what some people want is a regulation on bitcoin. if a government can make regulations for bitcoin then this can attract investors. because they feel protected and this investment has also been approved by the government.
if bitcoin becomes centralized, this will cause bitcoin to become the same currency as fiat and one day bitcoin will also experience inflation. so I prefer bitcoin to be decentralized.

There's no doubt that cryptocurrency will be integrated within every aspects of the world in the future. If Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies prove to be as decentralized as possible for the masses, then they'll become successful and highly admired by people in the mainstream world. However, Bitcoin is much more centralized than what it was in its beginnings. Big companies like Bitmain, have taken the opportunity to produce ASIC miners which contribute to Bitcoin's security, but largely affects its decentralization. The reasons for this are obvious, since Bitmain has the most dominance in ASIC hardware production and network hashrate.

Within Bitcoin's early days, it was possible to mine with CPUs and even GPUs. It was easier for anyone to get in, greatly contributing towards the decentralization of the Bitcoin blockchain. Given that now ASIC miners are dominated by Bitmain, it's hard to be able to acquire an ASIC miner for yourself and compete with other miners worldwide with greater capital than you. Which in effect, makes mining only viable to big miners (like Bitmain) while leaving the little guy (average Joe) out of the process.

Therefore, Bitcoin's decentralization may not last for long unless further action is done by devs and the community to put an end to centralized mining pools. Just my opinion :)

Centralization about unfair distribution of worth where those in control can manipulate and draw much of it to their side. Bitcoin is controlled by users and not any centralized authoritative body, hence it ensures a fair share where users have full control over their own transactions and money.

If this bitcoin is made with a centralized system, bitcoin will be easier to control and of course the price of bitcoin will stabilize. If bitcoin continues to depend on demand and supply, I am very afraid when there will eventually be an overlapping imbalance that makes this bitcoin even more abandoned. That is a bit of my idea.

Decentralized means no one controls it even central bank cannot control it because its run by its users that composed bitcoin if it will become centralized then theres no purposed using it what we need is proper regulation of the government on how we can fully utilised it legally.

Exactly. There would be no purpose to use Bitcoin if it's centralized. A centralized system is prone to extreme manipulation from governments, and other entities. For example, EOS' Block Producer have been able to freeze accounts and restrict some users access to the "blockchain" because the platform itself is extremely centralized. Because of this, cryptocurrencies such as Ripple (XRP) and EOS are considered by many individuals as another banking system.

On the other hand, Bitcoin has been able to obtain success for quite some time because it has retained decentralization (although the mining process has become more centralized over time due to the creation of mining pools). If by any way, Bitcoin becomes centralized, then it'll be doomed as people would look for other alternatives which are decentralized. Compared with other cryptocurrencies in existence, Bitcoin may not be the most decentralized option nowadays. An altcoin known as Ravencoin is ASIC-Resistant with decentralization in mind. With this, the cryptocurrency could perform at a higher level of decentralization than Bitcoin, since no single entity or company is in-charge of the mining process. In Ravencoin, you only mine with GPUs which is a far more accessible option than Bitcoin's ASIC miners nowadays.

Another cryptocurrency known as Magi, is also more decentralized than Bitcoin, since it has adopted a unique PoW algorithm known as M7M which focuses on small miners rather than big miners with a lot of hashrate. This allows small miners to easily secure the Magi blockchain, as the higher the hashrate on the network, the lower the block reward will be. Being a hybrid PoW/PoS cryptocurrency, Magi balances between mining and staking to obtain a greater degree of decentralization than most cryptocurrencies we know and love today.

Nonetheless, Bitcoin is still decentralized but it could've been better if somehow mining pools would become disincentivized. That way, full decentralization could be ensured as small miners (or the average Joe) would be able to participate in the consensus and security of the Bitcoin blockchain. However, that's up to the developers and the community to decide whenever it's best for Bitcoin or not. Just my thoughts ;D

Exactly. That's what governments want all along. If they succeed in making Bitcoin a centralized coin, then they'll be able to shut it down with ease. However, I believe that's not going to happen anytime soon, since Bitcoin is growing every step of the way in usage, adoption, and user support. The more hashrate and nodes become available on the BTC network, the better, as the cryptocurrency would become stronger and unstoppable like never before.

Centralization brings us back to the current corrupt financial system, Bitcoin was intended to overcome in the first place. By eliminating the middleman, Blockchain technology could fulfill its purpose as it provides security, transparency, and immutability unlike any other system known to date. Therefore, if Bitcoin remains a decentralized cryptocurrency, then it'll become highly successful for many years to come. Just my thoughts ;D

In this, there are numerous shortcomings including denial of transactions, slow transactions, long bureaucracy to follow which normally gets weary etc.
Decentralization is what Bitcoin offers and out of this, the people are masters of their own financial transactions in which there is elimination of third party involvements.

I like to be private and safe from other steals so i like to say that decentralized money sis the best for me and i hope that people knows that it is an opportunity for us to keep safe and secure if we not decentralize then we will pay multiple costs over transactions.

I prefer the decentralized system now, because that is the main identity of a crypto currency, bitcoin will never be centralized, even Satosi Nakamoto cannot change the system
calm down no one can change the bitcoin system. decentralization is increasingly popular today and it will certainly become more well known in the future, I myself think that it is very likely that in the future, decentralization will be implemented for world economics, seeing the enormous interest of many people?

Ripple (XRP) is proof that cryptocurrency can be centralized as well. But I can't imagine Bitcoin to be centralized. This will never happen.
Yeah centralized exchange already proof their identity and quality
I think decentralized exchange is not secure in different sides
My friend wallet hacked and more than recently 2300$ stolen from forkdelta
Definitely happened by forkdelta authority i believe

Centralized exchange strongly secured i think
Because they asking KYC and for more safety purpose
Two factor security is more strong and protect to your wallet
But hacking is possible also in centralized

I think whatever platform could benefit from a decentralized network. Whether its cryptocurrency, games and even social media platforms. A decentralized system will keep things accurate and transparent. If the web can be free of fake news, transactions and other financial processes can also be less prone to mistakes and fraud. This is all something that could benefit us all, right?

They have their pros and cons. Centralization is stability, confidence, it is necessary to ensure that crypto can be freely used in everyday life. Decentralization helps us to receive income from changes in the exchange rate, allows us to manage our own funds without any intermediaries. I'm more inclined to decentralize.

Exactly. There may be no such thing as a perfect system, since everything has their weaknesses and strengths. Decentralization brings us many benefits, but it lacks consumer protection, dispute resolution, high performance, and more. On the other hand, centralization brings us the protection of our funds, unparalleled transaction speeds, and more. Which is why, I believe that there should be a balance between both, to help establish a system that's stable, but at the same time, regulatory friendly.

One thing for sure, is that there's no cryptocurrency that's 100% decentralized. Bitcoin, Ethereum, and many other cryptocurrencies have some level of centralization within them. What's important is that they remain as decentralized as possible to obtain censorship resistance, especially in a hostile world where governments spy on every people and do whatever they have in their power to stop anything they consider as a threat.

Therefore, decentralization is the way to go for Bitcoin and any other cryptocurrency in existence. After all, that was Satoshi's main purpose when he/she published the Bitcoin Whitepaper. Eliminating the middleman is what Blockchain technology is all about. However, it's success will depend on mainstream adoption from people worldwide. Just my thoughts ;D

Cryptocurrencies do not need centralization. That's significant. However, people need centralization of services in the cryptocurrency. For example, a Bank or investment services. An ordinary person will not be able to invest or use decentralized assets correctly. He'll need help. These are complementary parts of a whole. This is my subjective opinion of course.

Decentralized financial ecosystem is always better than a centralized system. Decentralization elminates the third party system where this party needs to be present before transactions can be made. This system presents financial freedom to everyody around the world and transactions are peer-to-peer.

If bitcoin is centralized, it will simply lose its unique feature. Bitcoin will not be much different from other currencies.

That's certainly true, mate. However, this could change if Bitcoin becomes centralized largely because of greed from the miners. We all know how Bitmain has centralized Bitcoin extensively with the formation of mining pools. This means that sooner or later, Bitcoin would become another centralized financial institution (like a Bank) backed by a few entities. Many people haven't noticed this yet, because they only believe in Bitcoin as a speculative cryptocurrency but not as a cryptocurrency with real utility for the mainstream world.

While there's no such thing as 100% decentralization (like I've said before), we should do our best to keep Bitcoin as decentralized as possible. Bitcoin depends on us to maintain itself as a Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash. Otherwise, if we let large corporations (such as Bitmain) take over Bitcoin, then we would be dealing with a centralized ledger which can be manipulated at will by a few entities (just like Ripple).

Nonetheless, I hope that Bitcoin, as well as, other cryptocurrencies would remain as decentralized as possible for the benefit of everyone. Just my opinion :)

I prefer to use decentralization because it is more independent than centralized control. The blockchain technology used by bitcoin is one proof that decentralization is safer because the servers are in many computers so  cannot be manipulated or hacked.

For me, I think its better to become decentralized where we can see that there will no one can control or manipulate the system. Most of us want to a decentralized token or cryptocurrency. Lastly, I think no matter what happen I will vote for decentralized.

Same. Decentralization is the key of success for any blockchain-based cryptocurrency to date. If that is taken away, then the blockchain would serve no real purpose, as it would bring back the middleman similar to the traditional banking system, we've been used to for quite some time. We've all seen how Ripple and EOS have been extremely manipulated by their players, either freezing accounts or limiting access to the "blockchain" at will. Eventually, these centralized systems might fail in the long term if people use decentralized systems at a greater level.

As for Bitcoin, being the original cryptocurrency, which started it all, it should retain its decentralized model forever. Because, if it turns out to become centralized, then I'm afraid that it won't be admired by people who're looking into financial sovereignty. Despite this, Bitcoin could have a great future ahead of it, if it continues to be backed by its community while retaining its decentralization. Just my thoughts ;D
