Title: How much of a loss are you guys in?
Post by: Are-you-a-wizard? on August 06, 2011, 11:29:09 PM
Sold out here, so I'm at a loss of $550. For the amount I had in BTC it was worth it.

I'm up $138 after investing $100 of personals 5 weeks ago.  138% profit from trading as the price tanks...I'm quite pleased with myself :-D  I'm sorry to hear about your loss  :(  I'm thinkin' bout solo mining from now on.

I'm at a break even point.

The only coins I have ever sold are the ones needed to buy more GPU's and hardware. Currently at 14Gigs and holding. Regardless if you believe it or not, Is till have over 75,000 BTC on three flash drives in my desk drawer. The worst that happens to me, I break even and still have a whole lot of hardware!

Excuse me for saying so, but I think (opinion) you're a complete idiot for not cashing out at $10, or even $8, or even right now.  75,000BTC?  I lost a flash drive because of a bad soldering job.  It failed and I didn't even touch the thing.

I've lost 0BTC so far, what's everyone on about? ;)

More seriously, no loss, yet. I don't intend to sell my BTC for USD anyway, I prefer buying game time with them, so I've probably made an effective game time lost, based on what prices people start charging... :(

No worries, the Polish and Tom Williams are gonna buy back all the Bitcoins so as what Bruce would say, it's gonna go up and up and up.

Anything below $US7 and I'm mining at a loss due to excessive electricity prices.

None luckily :D

Hopefully the prices tanks fully to the $2-3 mark (what I believe its 'true' valuation to be) so more non-speculators can gain interest and begin to actually build the economy rather than mess around with the price. Not that there's anything wrong with speculation, but I think it has hurt bitcoin as a whole to some extent.

Yeh.  I'm hoping that at $1-3 some investors that know that the hell they're doing pounce on this thing and make some intensely awesome and secure sites.

0, my average price is a bit over 1.7$. Not holding Bitcoins at the moment, I’m waiting to see if the early adopters (read early miners) finally fully realize their ridiculously high gains.

I also hope that this happens, I’m sick of the pump and dump game since its beginning at the exponential rise at ~3 USD. After this experience, lots of people will be burnt and we can start thinking long-term about Bitcoin’s future.

Just time and effort so far.  I'm not done yet.  Still needing to get back to some people about things but too busy with stuff that pays bills.

Sucks seeing the market this low, but it also reflects highly on the confidence of those who may not be fully into all aspects of what Bitcoin represents and can do versus what I think is safe to just say security issues

When I would more so say it is personal security issues and laziness in investing in self education.

That will be the battle always with Bitcoin, making it dumbed down yet safe.

I'm down about 2 grand less then what I started with. However when the price goes to 8ish ill be positive again. Which I'm sure it will some time. I bought back in between 6.60 and 7.

I'm not out anything except time... I have a new GPU that's never seen the other side of 80C, I have a few new games to play, and they're all paid for with a minor investment in electricity and I think about 5 months worth of voice service given out... I gave out more than that in sponsorships to kids who asked.

Of course, I didn't stand to really gain anything measurable if it would have blown up to $100 either...

My cash investment is still intact. I'm about 10% down in coins (all mined) on what I had 24 hours ago. The best trading is yet to come tho.

I have a 1200% gain (all from buying coins - no mining at all).  I have sold everything a few weeks ago, but I am still waiting for the real drop with some money on MtGox.

Strangely enough, I never lost, to compensate I missed out on many chances by a hair's breadth. I guess that's what I get for being conservative -- should have traded more, taken one or two rounds losing to get more hits.

Tonight was when I got closest to losing -- it was really late, and I was moving an order SECONDS too late for that 28k unlimited sale, which hit my order quite far up. When I managed to roughly break even, it was 4am, then I slept through the neat rally with way too few coins. But no losses! :)

I was pretty negative like 2 weeks ago but after all these recent swings up and down I've done pretty well.

I'm net positive due to some trading and my low costs basis position in bitcoin. Love the momentary selloffs, panic dips are an ideal time to add to the core position I hold.

After the Dow and S&P indexes finish committing suicide, should be a fun month as investors flee the general market.

Bitcoin isn't going anywhere, as long as the internet exists, it will be just fine.

Loss? I long ago pulled out my initial "investment" and now make money with the casino's chips. I can't loose.
It's easy to be profitable here. Just wait for some unqualified rant about the sky falling, buy during the ensuing panic, then sell a week later when the price comes back.
It works again and again. ;)

I have lost about $2-3,000 over the past month. I got in at $14.25 with $10k on its way down.

I pulled out and jumped back in lower a few times. I have pretty much kept my same level of BTC but my dollar value has gone down.

I had gone all in on BTC at $11 last week before everything went in the toilet. Wish I had kept at least half out in cash like I had been doing.

My goal is 1,000 BTC then hold for the long term.

Exactly. Problem is, I can't pull out since it's addictive, the larger your stash grows the more you earn on the swings. I guess I'll be pulling out once my bids start affecting the market significantly, need to stay low to play speculation :)

I'm considering it might be worth it to simply not buy anymore bitcoins because they're going to keep falling especially during the cold weather season.

I basically screwed up with a trade over the weekend and took a loss of about 40 bucks.
Thankfully there was a bounce up to almost 7 bucks earlier today to get out. I am all
cash again with the small amount I am playing with.
