And it's doing my fucking head in. I have nothing against weed and am in fact pro-drugs, but this shit fucking reeks and often makes me feel sick. It's complete schwag weed and he continually coughs his guts up pretty much every-time he smokes it from 6 in the morning to midnight. He coughs so violently that I've heard him puke several times. My windows are always shut yet it still gets in and smells vile. What do I do? If I ask him to stop doing it, I doubt he will. Do I threaten him with the police if he refuses? I don't want to do that, but this shit is making me feel physically sick, especially when he barfs. He lives with his grandad who has hated me since I was a child. He even attacked me on one occasion for no reason what-so-ever. I don't mind his grandson smoking it as long as I can't smell it or hear him. He also has a 1-2-year-old girl and often leaves her in the house whilst he goes outside to smoke. I can hear her crying and screaming whilst he's outside. He's a stupid skinny degenerate thieving Jeremy Kyle reject chav. I also believe I could kick the living shit out of him if it came to it, but I'm a pacifist and will only fight if I'm attacked and there's no other options.

Ringing the police wont do shit, trust me, my neighbour rang the police on me 'cuz apparently the smoke was getting through the ceilling into his flat. All the cops did was tell me to be more careful, so now I just smoke outside. But if my neighbour had just come and said he had a problem then I would very happily of started smoking outside where it didnt bother him.

My sugestion would be to politely ask if he could smoke it away from your home.
If he starts being a dick then is the time to knock him out.

Haha, you don't go to jail for smoking weed in this country; it's not America. And I don't want police involved, nor would I want him to go to jail. He might be a fuck-up of a father, but kids need their parents. I know he'll probably just laugh if I ask him not to do it or go somewhere I can't smell it. Might ask his next door neighbour if she finds it such a problem, because I know she doesn't like it, but is she prepared to say something or second my thoughts? I may go round and see. I don't have an issue with any drug use as long as it's not negatively affecting any one else, but it is; he's neglecting his child and waking me the fuck up at 6AM making me feel sick.

yea the people saying call the cops instead of you just speaking to your neighbor are lacking serious people skills.  Tell him the coughing fits and puking are not cool and the smell is harsh and he needs to find somewhere else and try to be polite about it.

Yeah I want to see you solve this situation. We have here a drug addict that doesn't have a job that sits outside in his yard smoking weed from afternoon to midnight and doesn't feed his kids. The obvious answer is to just say "Hey, please stop smoking." I'm sure that will get through to him and his entire life habit will change.

It's 3:21 AM here in the UK and guess what? He's fucking outside coughing away. It's fucking freezing outside. It is illegal after all, not that I believe it should be, but I have the upper hand here and the law on my side. He wont get arrested, maybe cautioned if they catch him in the act, but they'll probably just ask him to stop or next time or he might be in trouble. This sounds like pretty reasonable balance between passive and active aggression. Cheap spotlight aimed at his smoking spot. Hear a cough, turn light on. No more cough, turn light off.

We already have quite sensitive garden/"burglar" lights and they are activated every time he paces about. Save for installing a giant motion-tracked floodlight, this wouldn't help. Hanging out of the window and firing a waterpistol every time he sparks up might make him go somewhere else. The idiot has just started driving lessons as well, so I hope he isn't getting high before driving less I will be calling the police.

I'll be honest, I was going to avoid this thread but after seeing a number of cases in the UK of those parents who just totally wrecked their kids lives or killed them I'd at least just call the police to come and check it out doesn't have to be a complaint or anything but if there's a kid crying constantly and stuff then something doesn't seem right. You don't want to be one of those neighbours who just assumed their neighbours were normal only to find there's a dead child in the house weeks later after the drug addict had finally had enough :S.

He quite clearly does have a problem. I've known fulltime stoners who don't need to smoke every 2-4 hours. He doesn't abuse the kid from what I can hear, but he does ask if she "wants a slap?" or tells her to "shut the fuck up" quite often. He really is a chav waste of space.

Well, the most serious issue here is the child. If the child is neglected because this individual has to take care of his narcotics habit, that's seriously fucked up, and something you as an adult should do something about.

No matter what you do, and how this turns out, it's going to be ugly one way or another.

The way of least resistance would of course be to move somewhere else if you can do that, and just pretend that you never saw, heard or learned anything. After all, kids are dying, being mistreated and neglected every day of the week all over the globe, there's not much you can do to change the evil ways of the world.

Well there is no low cost provider of a solution to this problem. Him not smoking weed anymore would probably greatly inconvenience him, and you spending the money to make your house airtight would be very expensive. You are imposing a cost on him by smelling and being bothered, he is imposing a cost on you by making a smell that bothers you. Almost everyone in the world smells and gets bothered by fowl smells but not everyone makes fowl smells (atleast on that level). So it would appear to me that the onus is on him to rectify the situation.

Let me ask you this. Suppose i had the power to make the fowl smell go away or to give you an infinite amount of money. Suppose i offered you 1 dollar and the smell would stay, or 0 dollars and the smell would go away. Surely you would chose the latter. suppose it was 2 dollars and the smell would stay vs 0 dollars and the smell would go, still you would chose the latter right? Imagine that i kept increasing the amount of dollars, 2, 3, 4 ect... Where would be the tipping point? At how many dollars would you chose to keep both the money and the fowl smell over no money and no smell?

I wouldn't call it suffering, but a minor annoyance I shouldn’t have to deal with in the comfort and privacy of my own home. He can do whatever he wants in the comfort and privacy of his own home as long as it doesn’t negatively affect me. It is negatively affecting me and he's often neglecting or not looking after his child in the process.

And no, I'm not trolling. This is the off-topic forum of a Bitcoin forum. Anything goes in here. I was just venting and asking for advice on how to best deal with the situation.

You'd be surprised at home people react when people are nice to them. When people are not nice, the recipient usually get a very low motivation for behaving a good way.

We already have a mutual dislike of each other, and I have no intention of befriending that cretin and I'm sure he feels the same way.
