Title: Bitcoin is finished - and not because of the price.... Post by: whiskers75 on December 08, 2013, 07:04:03 PM If every bitcoiner who wants to run a small startup site gets DDoS'd into the ground, I don't think Bitcoin will catch on.

Because bitcoin is still small, and so any business is going to be vulnerable. But, there are also advantages to being the first to market. But, if you haven't got the balls for it then, yes, you should probably get out. Title: Re: Bitcoin is finished - and not because of the price.... I think he's just trolling, most ISP's use dynamic IP's. All you would need to do is reconnect and the attacker no-longer knows your IP address. If that's the case, he's got a problem.Title: Re: Bitcoin is finished - and not because of the price.... Post by: EvilPanda on December 08, 2013, 07:59:22 PM Firstly every data center has a ddos protection. Secondly it's not like every kid hacker has means to set up a ddos attack from his garage. You sound like a guy who's affraid to buy a car because it might get stolen or damaged in an accident.
Title: Re: Bitcoin is finished - and not because of the price.... Post by: QuestionAuthority on December 08, 2013, 08:05:54 PM I don't think his problem is Bitcoin. It's more likely what he said to someone on his chat site or maybe on here.

Its much more likely someone has just planted a trojan on your machine, and its now under their control not yours. You shouldn't be running a serious website from home. Doh. Doh. http://whiskers75.com/ddos.png The extortionists didn't demand anything from me, but they have from another WhiskChat [now DDoS'd] user. I don't run whiskchat from home, and I don't have a trojan. Title: Re: Bitcoin is finished - and not because of the price....
