No offense, as I hope you are for real.  But you're going have to do better than this to make us think you're not just another scam.  Photos, video, forum member visits, etc.  Who are the company founders, who did your chip production?  We need to have this information or you won't get our money.

Cheers!

NO PREORDER
Our first batch of Poseidon, a very small one, about 25 pcs. wich is almost sold-out, will be shipped this month!

Now.. how does that work? - You cant order from your website, and you dont take preorders... but your 25 units are almost sold out?

+ domain is from october...? + your account is registered on the 8th of december... Im just saying.. i smell *sniff sniff* scam?

Might want to get the email signup item on your site working.  Simply gives a red 'Error' message when attempting to submit.

More info needed as well:

- Power usage
- Software compatibility
- Form factor
- Etc....

Also, if you are taking Paypal, then you should be a verified business with them already.  Can you provide the email for Paypal so we can verify it is... uh, verified?

Company founder: Stephen Giles
@braindead please send us an email at office@btcolympus.com about your interest in our product and any further questions.
@reactor we are still in the testing. More info this week.
We managed yesterday 0.75-0.8 w/gh/s power consumption
Software compatibility: cgminer and bfgminer but we are working at our own software.

The subscription seems to work fine.
@mazedk No preorders means, when we launch the website, we ship. Till then, this is only "teasing" information.
Someone in Minnesota wants to start a mining farm with our hardware.

Not to be rude, but I'll cut to the chase.  Please do provide more information than "teasing" information.

You put up a website with basic functionality that isn't working right and "in testing" doesn't address the Paypal question whatsoever.  Are you working with the software authors or doing a custom build?

Even if you're doing final tests you have all the info that you know the community requires if you're this far along in the process.  Look at the scrutiny Bitmain is still facing because their updates are infrequent and their supporters are more or less unheard of community members.  They've delivered, doesn't mean people aren't holding their breath on them walking away with the bag on a bigger "group buy"/"auction", etc.

who cares? if they are scam, they can use an email that is verified to show you they are legit, and after that change it!

Split payment can be used with Bitcoin. What does that mean?
Our Hardware Machine, BTCO Poseidon is hardware lock. You pay half on website and half on delivery. After the hardware is received, you send us Poseidon unic ID and pay the second payment step and we will send you the unlock serial key.

WTF? ???
Does this mean i can pay half now and half when i TOUCH the Product?

"BTC Olympus did not release on the market false or misleading information, the total costumer satisfaction being our mission .  "

I win a few international lotteries and inheritances a day with this kind of grammar.

Answer for all "price" questions: We have no price yet, because we are not sure how many Hercules will be in one poseidon.
Our first batch will be IN HAND so shipping will be in 24h after purchase. We want to remind you that all customers will be able to use split payments with bitcoins.

Well great you can't preorder but you also only have 25?
Hold one for me if that works.

Well, everybody will be able to order when the full site will be online. We hope that in maximum 3 days that will be possible.

One more thing:
As stated in our Privacy Policy
We will not share any customer information without your consent, regardless of whom is asking it.

Our policy was and still is, not to throw information (like prices) until we are sure of it.
We are sure of:
  • Our Poseidon machine will be equipped with Hercules ASIC
  • Hercules which is capable of more than 500 Gh/s hashing power.
  • Power consumption is less than 0.9 w/gh/s
  • Payment will be with Bitcoin and 90% Paypal. If not Paypal, another payment gateway like Dwolla, Payza, 2CO.
  • Our first batch will be IN HAND with NO PREORDERS
  • If you pay with Bitcoin your Privacy will be protected with us!!! and you will be able to use Split Payments
  • Our Prices will not be inflated

The specs looks fairly decent, and in line with current tech.  Is there any option to purchase the Herculus ASIC, and develop our own system?  Are you able to give us a rough timeline, like Q2 2014, or something similar?

Ummm, ... what planet are we living on???

"Our company is not that young, we work as a team since June 2013."

Why does everyone give a pass to these companies; so desperate for hardware? No other industry operates with such weak corporate governance coupled with a funding model based on crowd sourcing.

For the manufacturers I understand the risks of being left with obsolete hardware without the crowd sourcing, but honestly guys they are offloading ALL the the risk on the consumer.

That is not the way it's supposed to work.

p.s. If you really do ship on order you are an exception to the rule and good for you :)

We did not crowd fund, thats why we were quiet so far. We will ship on order! That's a sure thing!

We haven't thought this thorough. We will probably have some resellers for the ASIC by mid 2014, i don't know if it will be for 28nm or for 20nm. Until that point we are focusing on our first and second batch to have it ready for shipment.
But yes, it's an interesting ideea.
Thank you for the interest.

they say somewhere between $1.9m invested and $2.5m invested, which seems cheap to get a 28nm asic for "only" $2.5m (the NREs, expedite fees, wafer production and system production costs are about double that in total)...  i suspect it costs a lot more to get a 28nm asic made, especially a high performance one (they said 550 GH/s) that would need high performance packaging and cooling as it needs to run very hot.   They also said it was 0.8 W/GH, which would mean the chip is nudging past the 400 watts per package that seems extremely hard to cool something that hot... only liquid cooling could do it, .. just.   unless of course its not one asic at 550 GH/s, and is a collection of slower asics that together are 550 GH/s

Sorry but this looks incredibly scammy.

Offer no pre-orders so that they can create a rush of orders who pay 90% on paypal (covered) and 10% BTC. Then dissapear and run away with the BTC.

It just makes no sense not to offer pre-orders from a business point of view.

Yeah. And on linkedin is only 3Th/s. Are they scaling down cause they realise its imposible to deliver that much hashing power?

What's so hard to post a freaking picture or video of units hashing? How come after you raise 4 mil $ you only have 25 units? What is this? What prices can you have considering that you loaned 1.5 mil $ (must return a lot more than 1.5 mil$ i guess).

+1000

Also concerning that there are technicians, engineers, and a financial specialist involved and they can't guesstimate pricing, availability, provide specs, provide video, provide pictures, no verification from software authors about contact/assistance, bugs on site, typos on newsletter subscription verification page...  I don't understand how a group of "professionals" would want to be represented like someone running this out of a garage.

Our Hardware Machine, BTCO Poseidon is hardware lock. You pay half on website and half on delivery. After the hardware is received, you send us Poseidon unic ID and pay the second payment step and we will send you the unlock serial key.

No way im buying anything with such kinds of locks. Even if this is legit and not a scam, whats to say that there isint any timelock and later they asking for more money to renew the serial?

On the flip side, there is no way a hardware vendor, especially in bitcoin world, would ever agree to such terms. Theres no shortage of people trying to get their hands on it for half the price and then reverse engeneering the design/firmware or just cracking it.

Dear Friend,
How are you? I hope all is well with your family, friends and pets. I hope this urgent mail meets you in a perfect
condition. We have no time to waste regarding the information I am about to tell you, it is an urgent and serious

matter.

My name is Professor Elasticband, senior data analyst here at the CERN institute based here in Geneva
(http://public.web.cern.ch/public/) CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, is one of the world’s
largest and most respected centres for scientific research. Its business is fundamental physics, finding out what the Universe is made of and how it works. You may have seen on the news that, in recent days, our Large Hadron Collider machine has been colliding high-speed beams of energy in order to explore new physics and understand how the universe began. CERN have been adamant that this is safe, however I KNOW THE TRUTH.
The truth is that this experiment that CERN are conducting is extremely dangerous, and could cause global disaster.
This experiment has a 95% of causing a black hole, thus swallowing a large area of the planet. The scientists do not want you to know this as they know it will cause panic.

However, I can help you.

I am arranging for a number of selected people to be evacuated to a safe location on an island in the South Pacific via aeroplane. You have been selected from random to take part in this evacuation, thus continuing the survival of
the human race.

Claim: "We've been working on this thing since June but didn't want to post anything about it before we were ready."

Now here comes this thread, and they haven't got a thing to show.

WTF was the point of making this thread?

So much fail.

This is a "teaser" thread, for everybody to know about our products. Every legit manufacturer had one before they even started to desing. We are legit and we will not open sales until we are ready to deliver.
This we can promise!

I, personaly, don't think that i can tell what a person works after his/her face.

For what it's worth, I've asked to receive a review unit that I would pay for in full upon delivery, and report back to the community as to the legitimacy of this product.

In theory, they are OK with the request and have passed it on to the rest of the team for approval.

Will keep ya'll posted.

One of the Hero member here will test our product. So, for those who are not decided, please wait for his review.
Til then, don't forget to subscribe to our newsletter for more updates: http://www.btcolympus.com (http://www.btcolympus.com)

I wish you all a great evening!

Who are the hero members? Still why can't you post some tests?

First of all,

IF you really want to sell a product, (with No Pre-Order), maybe you can start with some photos of the units and video of the hashing power.

Bitcoin communities are understanding people, IF you are under development, just state so. They will take a risk like what they did with ASICMINER.

IF you have 25 working units, please post some REAL photos and VIDEO.

IF not, you are just making yourself looks bad with some photo studio photos (not sure if real or not in the first place).

Please don't waste time hoping to scam some newbies.

I think easier to scam using the Nigerian chain letter which is just COPY & PASTE and send out to 1 million email.

Can you post some photos, and provide some specs for your units ?

The good: Unlike KnC and Bitmain, btcolympus actually care enough to have an official representative here instead of paid shills.

The bad: Their official rep seems to be focused on repeating "we're not a scam" and "no pre-orders" instead of providing any useful info on their product.

It seems your nigerian prince is very poor and would not be a good partner in this venture.

My nigerian prince on the other hand has just come into $12,000,000 (12 MILLION DOLLARS), which he has kindly agreed to share with me.  As soon as I get back from the Western Union office I expect the money will arrive shortly and I would be willing to purchase 419 batches of miners

I really hope nobody buys this imaginary product tomorrow. Here's what we know so far.

No preorders! They aren't even going to pretend there is a delay with this scam.

Limited amount of units for sale. They are only going to rip off a few people, but its gonna hurt and they will be long gone before anyone has a chance to figure it out.

They must be trying something new, everyone else with a preorder right now is wishing they could have bought something in stock, so instead this guy will pretend they have something in stock. Too lazy to even make up some fake hardware and cgminer screens to show off, but put some time into the website and fake pics.

STAY AWAY!

Website says Error, but sends you an email anyway, to get you on the mailing list.  That appears to be all the info we have presently.

For all the users considering getting one i urge you not to be scammed. You are a no name company and you expect use to just go and layout half bitcoin with no proof of any unit, no proof of any asic, less then 1 week on bitcoin, site only up for 2months?

I understant your point of view and i embrace it. Everybody should be aware of scams. I personally have been reading this forum for monts and we know that our customers are very wise people. We guarantee you that we will provide proofs of product working and every information needed BEFORE we open sales! Please give us the benefit of doubt, until then. I promise you all we will try to fulfill our mission, which is 100% costumer satisfaction
What about the proofs you previously guarantee before you open sales?

I love it when you guys are totally harsh!

Normally, you'd have to pay money for that kind of whipping somewhere in London.

But you gentlemen do it for free ! Now, that's what I call service !

But just remember, this happened with KnC miner too, lol.

They are in the shape (sort of) of the computer console in the original Star Trek series 'ready room'.

Just missing the small "floppy disk type" cards they inserted.  Oh wait, they are serially locking the machines so that sort of fits.

By the way, 2,700 watts (dual power supplies) !!!

I don't think my wiring will handle that along with everything else I have powered on.

I've been to a few buildings in London and metro area and most of them didn't seem like they could handle more than a tea pot.

Watch for the first building fires to determine who in the UK purchased one.

I did think about putting all 25 of them into my shopping basket this morning to see if it would lock them up to keep others from being scammed.

Hmm, interesting. I went through the order process, got an address from bitpay to make a payment to.

so the address given is: 14xPWSbKFUzbxVY46ePXcepWgTGHPx6VfG

Just checked the block chain info

https://blockchain.info/address/14xPWSbKFUzbxVY46ePXcepWgTGHPx6VfG (https://blockchain.info/address/14xPWSbKFUzbxVY46ePXcepWgTGHPx6VfG)

and it looks like a payment has been made to that address already.

hmmm... has my order already been paid or are they getting everyone to one address?

and the phone number isn't a london number.  not that its working.. when you dial it, it says 'they're not taking calls right now'.  presumably it'll be redirected to the scammers mobile.

anyway, this is just a render... the specs are meaninglessly optimistic.. and the web site is littered with spelling and grammatical mistakes.

there is zero chance this is real.

agreed, those photos are excellent... really very good compared to other asic company's photos... yet again, we have indicators useful to determine scammers...

1... is the web site beautiful?  if yes, then its a scam ;-)

2....  are the photos of their team very professional...  if yes, then its a scam... ;-)

3.... are their offices temporary... and rentable by the day/week?...   (possibly also a scam)...

here's their office http://www.gardenstudios.com - rentable for just a few hundred bucks...!

and their phone number...  may be a Derby phone number (nowhere near london)...   http://www.area-codes.org.uk/01332.php  and http://www.phonespamfilter.co.uk/phones.php/01332408

In their FAQ, one of the questions is: "Why buy from you"

"Because we have probably the best product on the market. Because price/performance ratio is the best. Because we deliver in 2013."

==

You heard 'em. There is ZERO video or photo proof that a 55nm "Hercules" ASIC chip exists, yet they still promise to deliver your miner - which hasn't been ordered yet - before year's end...in a week...

If you want to throw BTC away by sending it to these guys, you might as well just send it to me to let me properly dispose of it for you. I'll put it through the shredder for you, at no extra charge. ;D

ROFL

aaaaaaaaaaaaa

In behalf of BTC Olympus im proud to announce our second ASIC (first, Achilles, did not perform properly). We worked quietly because of all the scams on the market, so we didnt want to get the same "publicity".
Our company is not that young, we work as a team since June 2013.
Specs:
Hercules chip:
High Performance 28nm ASIC
Hashing Output: 550 Gigahash/s
Power Consumption at the chip: less than 0.75 W/GH/s +/- 15%
This chip is not designed to be overclocked.
Chips will be assembled in a mining machine:
BTCO Poseidon

About us:
BTC Olympus is a high-end ASIC Hardware Manufacturer.
BTC Olympus was founded in June 2013 and along came a strong team of technicians and engineers , but also financial specialists .
BTC Olympus is a company started in the UK , our initial investment being a capital injection of $ 2.5 million $ 1.5 million in loans from financial institutions.
Unlike others, we answer the phone, email and we guarantee our full support.
It is probably the most ambitious start-up in the ASIC manufacturing industry .
BTC Olympus did not release on the market false or misleading information, the total costumer satisfaction being our mission .
We are aware of our competition and expectations of our customers and we guarantee that we are the first ASIC manufacturers who have no problems with sales delay, because all our tests were made before getting any information out on the market.
Payment Methods:
Paypal
Bitcoin
Split payment can be used with Bitcoin. What does that mean?
Our Hardware Machine, BTCO Poseidon is hardware lock. You pay half on website and half on delivery. After the hardware is received, you send us Poseidon unic ID and pay the second payment step and we will send you the unlock serial key.
How can i buy?
NO PREORDER
Our first batch of Poseidon, a very small one, about 25 pcs. wich is almost sold-out, will be shipped this month!

Kind regards,
BTC Olympus Team
