Title: Bill Gates: I would put against bitcoin
Post by: acmakc12 on May 08, 2018, 11:38:01 AM
American businessman Bill Gates again spoke out against the first crypto currency: in the Squawk Box program on CNBC, the co-founder of Microsoft called bitcoin one of the most speculative things in the world. This slightly tilted the course of the coin on Monday, May 7, but today it is still in the green zone.

"I would oppose bitcoin if there was an easy way to do this," said Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft Corporation in CNBC's Squawk Box, on Monday, May 7.

"As an asset class, you do not produce anything, and so you should not expect it to rise, it's a kind of pure investment" stupid theory, "Gates said in the CNBC program" Squawk Box. "

"Bitcoin and ICO, I believe, I believe, these are some of the crazy, speculative things," Gates said. He added that someone once gave him bitcoins for his birthday, but he sold it in a few years.

According to Gates, there is no need to count on the growth of bitcoin's value: "from the point of view of the asset class, you do not produce anything." The largest shareholder of Microsoft considers investing in this cryptonet "the theory of a bigger fool in its pure form."

She claims that money can be made by acquiring securities without regard for their quality and selling them at a profit, because there will always be a "bigger fool." Proceeding from the theory, speculative bubbles grow in this way, which burst with time and bring down the value of shares in a mass sale.

Note that earlier Gates accused the BTC of the death of people, pointing out that the coin is often used to buy drugs. In November 2014, the businessman called bitcoin "a revolutionary technology and the most innovative solution in the modern Internet payment market."

Like many critics of crypto currency, Gates acknowledged that the basic technology of blockchain has its advantages. Blocking eliminates the need for a third-party intermediary, such as a bank, to quickly create a secure, permanent report on the transaction between the two parties. Bitcoin is the first application of blocking technology, and companies are exploring ways to use technology to manage supply chains, trade and other areas.

Bitcoin is money, since it has also limited supply, we invest in it, not because of that it produces some value. He can already do nothing but opposing bitcoin.

Um, what is gold then? And that's something held by central banks and weirdos the world over. There's some actual usage there but that makes up a tiny percentage of the value, the rest of pure speculation too.

He did describe it a greater fool scheme and I think he's right there, but if you hang around long enough that may well change.

Did someone paid him to give paid reviews ?
I remember the time when he said all those good things about Bitcoins and now what is this ?
😐 I don't understand why a man that respectable would change his thoughts and all.

At the end of the day everything is an asset .. literally everything.. then why is he doing this partiality ? He should speak again precious stones and even dollars ! And the stock market and everything else too !

I love these points, it nice to see him state bitcoin cannot be stopped.

We dont need to produce anything in order to give it value, its a digital
technology, its value is in its supply, acceptance and useability.

So, he did actually take place in selling Bitcoin too. He should've given it out to charity as it was gifted him if he never believed in it. Honestly, I don't know why Gates allows himself to be tossed around by the waves concerning his stand on cryptocurrency. The other time he was silently endorsing it, now he is rebuking those hodling it. Anyway, whatever Gates strategy is, I think crypto fans should not be distracted from what they believe in.

Maybe it is the signs of of a person that is getting old, sometimes you don't get it-what they want, what they are trying to say, what are they doing that you see but you don't understand.

He maybe the smart-ass or one of the founders of Microsoft but I guess his time is finished and he should let it to the youngsters that are more intellectual and competitive than his generations. Or he is just jealous on why didn't he ever thought of this blocking technology, and some other guy called Satoshi and friends did(well if he had some). Walkie-talkie are no more, we are experiencing some and most brilliant innovations of all-time, and there are more to come.

"I would oppose bitcoin if there was an easy way to do this," said Bill Gates

That's an extremely interesting statement coming from the man that is claiming to be making an attempt at curing the world's most serious diseases. I wouldn't say this it is typical for him to seek the easy way out. That being said, maybe it's harder to oppose Bitcoin in any significant way than it is to cure the world's most deadly transferable diseases.

"As an asset class, you do not produce anything, and so you should not expect it to rise, it's a kind of pure investment"

Wrong, Mr. Gates. It certainly produces many things, one of the most significant is economic control, security and decentralization. It has been a technological innovation and has provided a solution to the Byzantine General's problem in such a magnificent manner that top corporations are attempting to mimic the blockchain and failing miserably.

     "Bitcoin and ICO,

If you link Bitcoin and any random ICO into the same bucket then you're clearly uninformed or willfully misleading and I'm not interested in hearing the rest of what you have to say on this subject.

Note that earlier Gates accused the BTC of the death of people, pointing out that the coin is often used to buy drugs. In November 2014, the businessman called bitcoin "a revolutionary technology and the most innovative solution in the modern Internet payment market."

I wonder if Gates would accuse every other currency to be responsible for the death of people, because of the same reason. Very interesting that he has changed his tune about Bitcoin.

Like many critics of crypto currency, Gates acknowledged that the basic technology of blockchain has its advantages. Blocking eliminates the need for a third-party intermediary, such as a bank, to quickly create a secure, permanent report on the transaction between the two parties.

Then I fail to see how he has come to the initial conclusion that was presented. I'm at a loss for this man's line of reasoning. It seems like extremely wealthy people that would have a vested interest in maintaining the current framework of finances are united against Bitcoin and it makes me laugh. They are so predictable.

he surely has his point, that its pure speculation when it comes to prices. However it's not completely true, if you consider bitcoin as a potential payment method when the people actually need to buy bitcoin first, before spending it. That can create the real demand for btc

Sometimes it makes you wonder if this people really understand how crypto market works. Or they don't like anything that they can't hold into their hands as crypto is pure virtual. However, I believed in him saying that bitcoin is speculative asset, however, I disagree with him saying that bitcoin investment is "the theory of a bigger fool in its pure form." Well if you invest wrongly, not just on bitcoin, even in stock markets and if you are just really in for a quick rich scheme, then you are wrong. That's why you have to be very careful putting your money into crypto, because its based on speculation, but it doesn't mean that you are fool. LOL. Everything can go wrong, but if you don't know how to protect your investment then you really better get out of crypto.

This is what whales DO! Manipulate the market every chance they get, when someone like him stated that bitcoin has no future,it will never rise blah blah , then it's starting a panic sell and the price is going down dramatically. and that's when they BUY,

They clearly knows this is the  FUTURE, and this is them preparing, we already seen once bitcoin rising to 20,000$ by the end of last year, and now it's 6 months to this year, perfect time to lower the price and collect some to prepare for the next big event.

Many blockchain experts predicted that BTC price will be around at least go to 50,000$ by 2020 , These billionaires are trying to add few more billion to their collection by spreading such things, and buying the cheapest possible, while they can.

That is in fact the nature of the people and specially when they missed a good opportunity to buy bitcoin in a low price, they try their best to buy it in a low price, but i think that now the investors have become too much wise and now they are not selling their coin on the bases of such bad and false news in the  market.

To my opinion even not so positive comments said by prominent person could be promotion for Bitcoin.

It seems that two influential people found a common language.
At first, Warren E. Buffett, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. & then Bill Gates.
All major players including PayPal and Visa, who are losing a lot of money, make such kind of loud statements. I think they are cunning. But let's get down to brass tacks. Let's get right down to it, boys.
His speech was supposed to look like this.
"I hate cryptocurrency because I'm losing revenue. " That's all. You do not need to add anything else.

Proceeding from the theory, speculative bubbles grow in this way, which burst with time and bring down the value of shares in a mass sale.

Previously Bill Gates had support the crypto currency and Bitcoin. I don't know why he get back his word.Personally I think, he had inverse their money and by the fluctuations. He may get depressed  ;D ;D
This may be the reason for the change in words. The well-known business should not change his word often. Many had invested their money in bitcoin.Because it will affect the bitcoin price. So they will get affected.

If Bill gate can also make such a positive assertion to bitcoin, I just see fear and hate on bitcoin from its bourgeois critics. Most wealthy critics are hating because bitcoin is purely investment and not on production. But, that is how bitcoin has been made. The innovative and production aspect of it has been made by the founders and so, investors just need to put there money where there mouth is.

Afterall, some other investors choose to put there money somewhere else including Microsoft.

I think some of these big guys are getting scared of the potential of the new crypto paradigm. The status quo will always do what's in their power to stifle innovation if they feel a danger of their toes being stood on, including instigating FUD!

in any case i find it interesting that him and Buffet have never said "bitcoin is a currency" and never talked about it in that sense. all they do is that they try to say first it is an investment and nothing more then try to prove it is useless!
i don't know what to make of it yet...

He is just doing that because he want people to dump there bitcoins in a lower price and he will surely buy it and make a good positive comments again about bitcoin and after that he saw that the price already pumping again he will put a bad comments again about crypto and buy more when the price goes down. This is the way whales manipulated the price.

Explanations of popular people about bitcoin are very important. Millions of people read reviews of famous people, and they are buying or selling bitcoins in line with these comments.
For this reason, we need to pay attention to the accuracy of the news source. There are many fake accounts.

gates had the right timing and good thoughts and endurance with microsoft.
now he does the best a human can. he saves lifes instead of beeing ceo of any company. he does not really care about btc.

but. he is and was not always correct in his predictions. he is a human, with luck with skills with errors.
and to be modest, he is an older man. technology already overtaken his  sight. (google, tesla, artificial intelligence, social media, crypto currency)

so, yes old people tend to follow his thoughts. younger not.

but he is right. investing in crypto is speculating. speculative investing in a future and maybe in a healther one than the "government fiat"  present is...

Bill Gates is obviously a very intelligent man, however, like anyone who is successful, its easy for him to speak about subjects with the presumption of expertise (and for others to believe his opinion has weight) when really he's no more of an expert in this area than anyone else who has a passing familiarity with crypto. Its like when a doctor speaks about the stock market and other people think that his opinions are inherently noteworthy because of his perceived intelligence - they fail to realize that specialized knowledge in one field, which may itself be an indicator of great intelligence, means nothing when it comes to another field which requires just as much specialization to understand. So that said, Bill Gates can say whatever he wants about crypto, but as someone who is not active in the space, I could honestly care less what he's thoughts on the subject are.

Bill Gates and Warren Buffet need to go buy an Island together then fck off and stay there, they serve no purpose nor do they offer any value to society. They are both fcktards that hide behind FAKE philanthropy. The Bill and Melinda gates foundation is just one massive exploit of a tax loophole.

And the stock market and everything else too !
let's look at it in a different perspective, if you own a lot of bitcoin and you sold it and you want to buy cheap value, what will you do??? just simply causing FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt, usually evoked intentionally in order to put a competitor at a disadvantage.). always remember that man is a businessman and if there is a chance of profit why would he / she put negative things to it on media. i guess your question is answered sir :). i would even do that if it is me.

There is a point in what Bill Gate says, now the market movement is completely because of the speculation, we need to have more market acceptance to be the monster we are expecting, with just a speculative coin the future is not bright and unless it can be used as a currency the price might not increase like the way John Mcfee expects to be.

perhaps bill gates see from a business point of view that blockchain technology can affect their business when it's implemented so it's about bitcoin, because I think bitcoin and their products have different market shares so I'm rather inclined to ask what's wrong with their product. because for me the concept of bitcoin is created to create financial stability so that it is no longer rare between the rich and the poor and this can also encourage economic growth as well because many people can buy a product from bitcoin.

Bill gates has it's own  progressive business  that's why he puts against bitcoin so as we are descendants of Bitcoins we will continue to strive hard to shines  all over the world.

If they cannot be a part of this, then it is shit or speculative or a scam.  ::)

What value did Microsoft add to the world? It is basically a Operating system and a Money cow for it's investors.  ;D There was enough competition in that scene at the time, for it not to be unique or special at all.  :P

If he says that then maybe some banks offered him a huge amount of money to say that. Since he is old enough to care about the technology behind it.

Let's be real, no one is yet richer than Bill Gates just by investing in crypto.

I get that we're all enthusiasts here, but sometimes the hyperbole is a bit too much for me.

Maybe he's just showing solidarity with his friend Warren B. After all, the article even states he's traded (more specifically sold BTC in the past).

In any case, even if BG really does doubt BTC, who cares. All that's important is that WE continue to believe in it!  8)

Hmmmm. Why can't he just help Microsoft be back to it's glory days against Apple and Google. The dominance of a smartphone is growing year by year yet Microsoft killed its beautifully own Windows Mobile. There's even a smartphone built for cryptocurency and now I see no sense why he is against it. He should've support it instead.

I think bill gates might have a mixed opinion on what bitcoin is. bitcoin may be a valuable asset in the future because of his company and he does not rely much on the money he gets from it because he is already rich but he is concerned on the asset on the effect of bitcoin as an investment in his company and future economic changes.

He has been positive about bitcoin, then negative, then positive again, now he is negative again. What's this guy's deal?
I mean he can't be in it for the money, so why fud?

I think if you would look at the bigger picture. He is just speaking his mind depending on the current status of Bitcoin. However, one thing is clear here. He is updated with what's happening in the market and the movements that happen to it. Therefore, that attention may be said to be a good indication that he can actually effect something in the future that could lead to better days for this market.

Lol i don't understand? I think before he said good things about bitcoin? Or is it just my imagination?
Not gonna blame him though if he think that bitcoin is just an investment that gain profit after fooling people. Well, he's rich. Surely he won't need investment like bitcoin in his life.
But it makes me wonder. When someone give him bitcoin as birthday gift, why didn't he sell it right away? Since he knew it's worthless and bad and such? Why need to wait for years later to sell? Could it be he's waiting for the price to increase then sell it? lol. He said bitcoin is not an asset, but he kept his birthday coin for years before sell it. Well i can't judge, and i won't. It's free for people to express their opinions, but it won't change my way to see bitcoin and cryptocurrency.

I never understood how he understands blockchain, I admit that he is a very rich man, has a big company (microsoft), and successful.

and I also never know what the reason he made a bad statement about bitcoin.

but I am a new member who has known bitcoin for 2 years, but within 2 years, I always read and continue to analyze about bitcoin growth.

so, I think if the world of crypto or bitcoin is a system with a ponzi model, a scam, or about price manipulation. then bitcoin will die quickly. bitcoin will not gain the trust of many investors.

Bill Gates: Bitcoins and ICOs are crazy, unpredictable, and speculative.
Bitcoin and other purely electronic money are just "more stupid" about investing, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates said on Monday on CNBC's "Squawk Box". "I agree that I would eliminate it if there was an easy way to do it," he said.
Gates added that someone had given him a bitcoin to celebrate his birthday, but he sold them a few years later.
Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates said on Monday he would bet against bitcoin if possible.
The price of a bitcoin quickly increased $ 2,000 last year to above $ 19,000 in mid-December. The digital currency has since lost more than half of its value and traded at about $ 9,300 on Monday morning. About $ 9.8 billion has been raised through the sale of new coin, or ICO, since 2016, according to Autonomous Next Financial Research.
"Bitcoin and the ICO, I fully believe [they are one of the] crazy, unpredictable, and speculative things," Gates said. He adds that someone once gave him a few happy birthday bitscoin, but he sold them a few years later.
Like many analysts and critics of the rise in the price of electronic money, Gates has said that the basic blockchain technology still has its value.
Blockchain eliminates the need for a third party intermediary, such as a bank, by quickly creating a secure and permanent record of a transaction between two parties. Bitcoin is the first application of blockchain technology, and companies are seeking to apply blockchain to supply chain management, business and other areas.

By itself, he is intelligent and knows what he says, but there are negative moments in bitcoin, what for him people are capable of robbing and killing, selling weapons and drugs, but the same thing is done for money. Bitcoin is just a technology, it is not to blame for anything. It simply makes its contribution to history as a new tool of a person and gaining knowledge, but the way a person uses it is already a problem of people, not of this technology.

Bill Gates criticism and other billionaires criticism are almost the same. They all think that Bitcoin users are all crazy.

He has been positive about bitcoin, then negative, then positive again, now he is negative again. What's this guy's deal?
I mean he can't be in it for the money, so why fud?
Bill Gates is the richest person in this world. Apparently, he has also the power to control the mind of his supporters. His opinion is changing time by time and I think it is not reliable information since his ideology crosses each time he want to speak about bitcoin. I believe that what he says is just a FUD news for the people to confuse about what is BTC.

BG has been pretty inconsistent about his thoughts on bitcoin, so I don't understand whether it is so important to discuss an opinion of a person who doesn't seem to have a clue about it.
What IS important is that his sayings might potentially affect the price of btc. ;)

My opinion Bill Gates not the only economist in the world and his success and computer technologies doesn't mean that he knows better than everybody in cryptocurrency, so we also are having our guys, who would tell the positive things.

Meanwhile from a video posted on YouTube, he said  "nobody can stop Bitcoin" or something llike that. Here is the video:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XG9qnSYyXDk

It either the video was faked, the article is a lie, Billgate said either of the two or he said both.

He made a similar remark about Opensourced software like Linux many years ago.

Well, the most important thing is to get both archived for posterity sake.

I think he really patronize bitcoin it is just his way to manipulate the market? As he was saying that cryptocurrency is the most speculative market in the world that is why even him is doubtful what will happen to the future of crypto.

This guy often changes his mind, All business people change their minds depending on the conjuncture, as well as politics. With all due respect to this man, I can say one thing - he expected that after his words the market would collapse and he would buy Bitcoin at a lower price. As they say, his stupid words are the same stupid answer. Trying to manipulate the market.
