There are so many news coming in about Facebook launching it's own crypto currency. Crypto is reality of modern Times most of the giants are slowly coming in it's fold. It will be a big addition to the market.  It may prove big blow to present blue chip coins because it may prove their strong competetor.  But it will be a great opportunity for the users because they will get one more crypto having worth and  goodwil.

I do not understand why such companies ICO. They have enough money for development. Just to have your own crypto coin and nothing more.

Thats cool one but the article just says that Facebook is going to explore the potential of blockchain which we always keep reading everywhere all the time. However, the serious thoughts will start coming up when we will see real applications of blockchain made to the Facebook.

For now Facebook protocol is based on internet and off course there is no way to move everything into the blockchain protocol so swiftly.

It will take billions of dollars to invest into such migration and might be complex one. There exits billions of profiles and (unsecured  ;D) data over it. So it depends on many things and executive team will need to be that much visionary.

That is true that facebook is launching their own cryptocurrency. After their move to ban cryptocurrency related ICO's and advertisements facebook have decided to create their own version of cryptocurrency. But this may take several years before they can really implement it and also do not look for ICO's since there will be no ICOs for this.

This is a great for facebook to start a build blockchain services. About launching crypto in facebook they didnt have ico release i think the facebook coin is make a real money..

facebook is NOT making a crypto currency

facebooks "facebook credit" is not a currency that can be redeemed for cash. its a one way purchase and consume token. meaning that users cannot buy facebook credits to then pass to a friend and the friend cash out.
facebook do not want to get into the industry of competing against western union. and other money transmitter businesses. because the licencing costs of such would raid their advertising profits.

instead facebook want to utilise the blockchain (data security) concepts.
yes they want to utility th data security of their facebook credit. but its not going to be a fiat enter&exit coin for its users. its going to be the same as its facebook credit, but secured on their servrs usin blockchain tech as oppose to standard database security. thus saving them costs on security/auditing and preventing internal malicious actors

there wont be an ICO, wont be an airdrop. wont be a market. it will be done as a retail product. you buy it and use it.

in short. facebook is not treated as a money transmitter business becuse it does not let FBcredit holders sell their coin publicly. facebook have their FBcredit as a retail product. all that will change is facebooks background/security of their data/credit. nothing will change on the users front end/public side

if Facebook properly launched the crypto. this is a fresh breeze for the bitcoiners. hopefully the price of crypto will continue and improve. and hopefully there's another fresh breeze coming up .

Yes it seems that Facebook will launch a cryptocurrency and i also read a similar news yesterday and it is currently not known whether they would do an initial coin offering or just sell their coins to people in a fixed price, or maybe they can also reward their coins for certain tasks and achievements in facebook games.
There can be many uses for the Facebook cryptocurrency but lets see how this goes in future and whether or not there would be an ICO.

If you have such a huge number of users reachable it does indeed make sense to create its own coin. But why do you refer to their traffic in 2008? We need to know the traffic after it turned out that they sold the data of its users? This coin might will become some kind of a spy coin! :D

I think this a a plus for Facebook if eventually carryout the project and become successful. Remember that Facebook once have what they called Facebook Credit which was abandoned but we pray that this project become successful for us to have a bigger coin in the world of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. facebook have not changed quickly. the banning of adverts were about preventing their customers from seeing scam coins begging for investors using deceipt. they do not want to be seen as endorcing a scam.. facebook was avoiding lawsuits by preventing its users from being scammed by ICO's
however facebook does not ban discussion/groups talking about crypto.

I have read the article and it says the "fortunately they will not launched an ICO". It would be non-sense if they will have an ICO because Facebook has already made a lot of money throughout the years of existence.

This will definitely be very interesting as we would expect Facebook to develop a proper coin. one would also expect with the many followers that Facebook has and also the fact that its a mega company  that this coin should prove to be very valuable, they have however said they will take their time in developing the coin for use on their platform , i suspect however that plans are tweeked/changed as the development process happens . what is clear though is that they have been working on this for a year now and recently the team working on this project was ramped up in fact David Marcus has particular responsibility for this project,suggesting that this is a very important and major project for them.

I still need more credible source so that I'll really believe the rumors about facebook joining cryptocurrency. If it is really true then I'm sure that i'll partake to ICO or to any presale will be hold by Facebook because i know it will be a hype coin of 2018.

Every company in Silicon Valley has a small group "exploring" blockchain. It's just a buzzword art this point.

Big players like Facebook can just try copy everyone else’s innovation.

Last week they started going after tinder, this week it’s crypto. Every other week it’s snap chat (lol).

The thing is Zuck was always a copy cat; if the movie biopic can be believed Facebook wasn’t his idea he just executed it. I think the movie can be believed cause Zuck didn’t sue the producers.

FB is pretty behind the curve. Alibaba has been developing and implementing blockchain tech since around 2017~, probably even earlier behind the scenes.

That's just what i don't understand. I think people will only join for returns on investment sake and nothing else. How can you ban crypto advertisements and launch one less than six months later. Doesn't make sense for me. Mark Zuckerberg is in for money if they raise money in ICO. They should do airdrops imo. Maybe he's still confused about crypto.

This is rubbish and complete FUD. Facebook has no plan to launch cryptocurrency. There is no announcement and many news article website is creating clickbait articles and spreading the FUD. The reality is something different. The head of facebook messenger Mr. David Marcus has been moved to a different role to explore blockchain technology to be used within facebook to ensure data integrity and security. There has been no plan at all to launch facebook's own crypto currency. Stop this FUD and it is not helping the market. 

They already announced it last year but it just a rumor because of no confirmation. Is the source of that article is legit? Because if it is, then its gonna be exciting!

After a few months ago they declared a banned advertiser crypto now there is a rumor that Facebook will make a crypto. To my knowledge, Facebook just wants to explore how far the technology used by bitcoin is Blockchain and I think they just want to focus on this technology instead of making its own crypto. They want to analyze the benefits of blockchain technology for some services and maybe this technology could be adopted by Facebook for some of the things required regarding payment methods.

A long while ago they declared to us will ban all crypto related ads on their website. And now, they want to launch own crypto.

I know why they banning crypto ads, because they want to freely promote their coin to all facebook users on their website without worries with other coins...  :D

For me not another bigger coin. Because for me, Not all facebook users related on bitcoin/cryptocurrency. We can say yes its another bigger coins is coming, but the other people don't had any idea about crypto was ignoring their news about facebook joined on crypto. This is only my opinion. For example, I always talked my friend to join on cryptocurrency and invest money to take a profit like work. But friend ignored my advice. So they have people not wanted to know about crypto or thingking about crypto. So we cannot say that is a really big coin in the future.

Nothing concrete yet, they are just toying with the idea, because there are to many things to be done to materialize so it's just speculation, but facebook is huge and they are going to make money exploring blockchain, they can create a team to do this, they have the means and the market.
