new coin. OP wanted to instamine it so he didn't bother to announce it here. this coin brings nothing new to the table and will most likely need a hardfork in about a week.

hmm perhaps but he really sounded like he didn't know about bitcointalk... Does seem kind of funny though.  There is a 1k bounty if someone wants to build the windows-qt.

Well, it's not mandatory to announce on bitcointalk.. it's not like 'we' are the only site for crypto around :)

That's true, actually cryptocointalk seems like the better place to announce "altcoins" since bitcointalk is mainly for bitcoin.

Just curious, at the pool dashboard page, how can the 'pool hashrate' be higher than the 'net hashrate'?

Sorry if it's a stupid question, I'm kinda inexperienced with mining and all that :)

There is no active blockchain api yet. Until someone creates a explorer or something, not much of info will be available about the blocks...

Remember...the coin was released on CryptoCoinTalk last night/early this morning. So people that visited that forum heard about the coin before this forum. Which is likely why the blocks mined already was 8900.

Like anarchyx said use -scrypt. And change the address to the machine running the wallet, if you run the wallet on the same machine than the miner then use 127.0.0.1

THIS is the new Pre-Mine.. watch closely.

Posted on ANOTHER site first

No Windows Wallet

Source code for Linux people only...

Pool ready to go! (OP's pool)

Gee, I bet there have been 1000 or more blocks mined by none other than.. OP.
Edit - Just checked - 8900 blocks thus far. No way I'm touching this.

Fuck this premine bullshit. I'm mining CAT and Kitteh.

anyone knows how to set the config to mine solo?

also how much did you premine already OP?

In the OP says "Premine: 9 blocks as test"

And I believe its 20 per block...so like 180 BIC??

just trying to figure out what the deal is. seems like the first post says he mined 8900 blocks so far. thats a tons lot. it will make this a filcoin , right?
Well, we have to wait for a blockchain explorer. I have only 419,8 BIC in my wallet. It all happened just very fast at cryptocointalk. In the meantime, I'm just going to defend myself. I don't even have normal mining hardware. Just a Amd-a6 CPU+gpu , macbook pro 13,3 late 2009, and a8 CPU+GPU. That's all

I don't think the main dev is quite as important.  What is really important is finding multiple programmers/web developers willing to create services for the coin.  Bitcoin's creator is MIA after all, and it hasn't slowed development ;).  Honestly if a coins community is active enough, I think you will see programmers and previous services getting involved.  Having said that, I think a good place to start is by creating a forum, and doing a new logo design contest!

Bitcoin was a one off as the original though. Nowadays alts are pumped out at such a rate that sucess is generally based on the dev being good

Based on the # coins and difficulty what coin launch would best match up with a listing of binarycoin? I've been mining it for a couple weeks and have less than 1000 coins. I hope it isn't going to be just a couple hundred satoshis...

BIC is going to be pretty rare with only 84 million coins.  That is on par with Litecoin.

On average 7 of every 20 mined blocked are orphans.  It's pretty high, but after a week of solo mining on my private pool I have about 1000.

Why isn't there a exchange yet? There are some nice trades made yet. I think I saw 0.5 LTC for 1000 BIC. Which is amazing with current difficulty.

Maybe some suggestions on github would be nice for further development.

We'll get there, but honestly it's nice having this low hash rate for now.  I think this coin has a long term chance and is not just a pump and dump like the 100's of coins currently being promoted.   We have a good forum, now we just need a standard info site and perhaps a logo redesign.

Not sure why this coin has such a low profile right now. It has a ton of potential -- great name, great logo, no premine..

Seriously, we are a few developers short of this coin EXPLODING. This is truly a diamond in the rough at the current mining levels.

agreed. this is pretty big, once it gets out there, this is going to blow up large. look at how low that difficulty is!?! i'm gong to throw some hash on this now, when it happens i'm gonna be rich! :) (also will not insta dump, i respect coins with no pre mine enough not to dump)

This +1

Its also old scrypt clone...

I don't know what you mean by OLD, could you please explain to me?

Also, I wasn't able to announce Binarycoin on Bitcointalk because I couldn't make a new thread. I have not instamined anything, and binarycoin is not just another pump and dump coin.
BTW, Bitcointalk is dedicated to Bitcoin isn't it? Why would I announce it on a website not dedicated to alternative cryptocurrency's?

I think coinmarket.io is much better now to target. I'm REALLY impressed by the developer who created that site in such a short time. He seems much more willing to accept the newer trendy coins like LEAF and SMC. Quite a bit of volume he handles with LEAF with minimal hitches.

Yeah, but we need a new exchange ASAP.

We are giving away prizes, coins at our pool trying to get the network hashrate up, but its hard promoting this coin alone.

Comon' guys lets build up the network and get the difficulty to at least 1.

love the renewed enthusiasm guys! yes it is a bit rough to launch a new coin, but the cream always rises to the top.

my idea was to pitch it to the guys who run the coinoftheweek.com website, they can help with givaways, and twitter campaigns etc. I think that i'd rather see any "kickstarter" funds applied to marketing and to get on coinmarket.io

that exchange is really something else, i remember when they started up, first to trade DGB i think, and i was like: "hmmm, super skeptical about new sketchy exchange" and now i'm totally hooked. screw cryptsy. crypto is all about decentralizing anyways, give some to the little guy i say.

Whats going on with the coin? is someone attempting to fork?

One pool has one user with more hash than the entire network

Network: 19Mh/s
Pool 1: 10mh/s
Pool 2: 5mhs
Pool 3: 27mhs with one user contributing 21mh/s

How does that work??? why does that users hash rate not appear on the network??

This users hash does not affect the coins difficulty, with that extra 20mhs the difficulty should have risen, but it is dropping because the network cant seem to see him and the rest of the network is not getting any blocks, this all seems very odd.

I read the past posts and I must say I love the logo and hope this coin can grow more! Keep up the good work!

let's keep this coin alive and well! it's very easy to mine right now, you could be getting in on the ground floor of something big!

Just to let you know, your coin has been added to the voting system at Cryptorush.  Vote for your coin here - https://cryptorush.in/index.php?p=vote

That's Great :)

Awesome! I've been away for a while, but I'm going to make a new blockchain explorer soon! Awesome progress guys!

Great! Will you keep developing the coin? Your site has a certificate error.
Look, I've said this before, don't use https! And yes, I will keep developing. I'm working on an android wallet now.

Are you going to update the OpenSSL version used in the wallets?
blackbinary.nl and binarycoin.info are offline.

my friend just set up a block explorer at www.binarychain.com.

I build and design coffee shops that double as brick and mortar digital exchanges while specializing in commodity based digital currencies.

Our gift cards earn 5% monthly payback and are redeemable for 1 coffee or 1 USD or 1000 BIC.

We have a number of bounties and services that accept BIC and soon all of our transactions will be run through Binarycoin.

Nice, maybe it's time to start working for this coin.  I wish dev had created the OP.  His main listing is on cryptocointalk, I created this one to help him out.  We need core dev to create new ANN so he can keep it updated.

How does a relaunch work? If those of us who mined it don't lose our coins, I'm all up for it. The dev left binarycoin for dead anyway.  :-[

Guys i'm thinking of taking over this coin and re-launching it. What does the community think?

As long as we keep the logo and blockchain I am fine with a "relaunch"

With the success of POS, I believe these now ASIC friendly coins will have a resurgence.

BIC is an ideal coin. I'll never forget the day I saw this coin make 6 confirmations in roughly 12 seconds TOTAL! This was a rare point of extremely low difficulty coupled with high hash rates

The original developer Daen Rebel aka blackbinary is a visionary. I believe he wanted the coin to make it on its own as he was clear on his original site that once a coin is created it cannot be destroyed. If we wanted to implement KGW or something like that I think we should check in with Daen first.

He didn't always post to threads but he did support newbs as much as he could being a young lad in school with minimal internet access.

There are a few diehard Binary fans and we did not cry when the coin "died" . . . we have been waiting for everyone to catch on.

Block reward is the same as day 1.

Mistercoin, thank you for your support. Do you have a BIC address?

For now, binarycoin block explorer at http://binarychain.com (http://binarychain.com)

I will help in the relaunch.

But what kind of relaunch? Maybe just buy some high powered ASICs to bring up the difficulty, build mobile wallets, add in Tor/anon and... maybe add in POS.

We could see a resurgence of older coins due to all the short term POW -> POS coins that hit the market in the past few weeks and end up destroying trade volume. It was probably just a few groups of people who sucked millions of dollars out of the small altcoin exchanges like bittrex and poloniex.

Why not mine an old low difficulty coin and then make it better?

I think instead of a relaunch we need to create demand for the coin.  Create services and stores to spend Binarycoins.  Otherwise the coin's value will not rise at all.

I will admit I am a bag holder of this coin.  However I am also willing to pay someone in BIC (60 BIC /hr.) to help me create these services (programming).  I can only do so much on my own.

Okay guys, bit ashamed of myself.

Since all the bullshit like OpenEx and BitQuark I was tired of further developing this coin and decided to focus on school again. Since I see there are still people who support the BinaryCoin, I'm asking you guys your opinion on what and how we as a commmunity should do.

Should the development continue?

Who will help me?

Again, I'm really sorry about being ignorant to everyone around here.

I currently hold a considerable amount of Binarycoin and have created a new github with updated source to work with Qt5 correctly.
The plan was to restart this coin. No rebrand or anything just a takeover. I've just been quietly working on it since my last post.

TAKEOVER COMING SOON, PLEASE STAND BY

I have a new website and domain at the ready and plenty of nodes.

That's fantastic! The old wallet had several bugs, it crashed every 1~2 hours when solo mining and it did not allow sending more than 10000 BIC or so.

15 second block times & 20 coins per block = 115,200 coins per day

even if you were able to sell the coins at current ask price - all the coins in 24 hours are only worth 1.728 LTC or about $5.18

hardly seems worth mining

jussayin - coin needs a serious price pump.

That's fantastic! The old wallet had several bugs, it crashed every 1~2 hours when solo mining and it did not allow sending more than 10000 BIC or so.

I can say without a second's hesitation that those two bugs ARE FIXED.
New wallet runs on QT5.5, BerkeleyDB 6.1.26 (such new), openssl 1.0.1p&1.0.2d, BOOST 57, compiled with Mingw32 GCC 5.2 (newest). It's a nice clean static compile featuring support for OS's from XP to Windows 10.

I've been mining for over a 24 Hour period with the wallet and have experienced no crashes what so ever.
Also I'd like to add that I have sent a few members of the team 100K bulk single transactions that processed phenomanally. (No errors or hangups)

New nodes will launch tonight then! Followed by a hard noded wallet update and site release! Stay tuned.
Will create a Takover Thread as well once this has been accomplished ( no need to jump the gun and have people asking extra questions right? )

I would agree that the price is lower than it really should be but considering the fact that this coin was almost dead (I watched my node go offline and cryptopia report "it's dead jim" before)
the price is currently reflecting the coin's status... Which until now hasn't been to well off.
In fact there is no place to download a wallet for it. So unless you had one from before OR you can compile + fix the errors it had in the old source your pretty much out of luck.

This team is chaging that, solid wallet, solid support here we go.
I'll tell you one thing I enjoy mining it. Great coin and OMG so fast.

OH ONE MORE THING, a nice new shiny logo is coming, It will look similiar but more polished. (not Looking to offend anyone so it resembled the original a lot)

Great! Can't wait to update! I have a few BICs I'd love to trade for a fair price, not just pump and dump.

Sorry for the wait everyone!
I seriously believe you all will see that it was well worth it here in just a couple hours as everything quickly goes live.

Soon I'll also be posting a new ANN and posting the link in this thread.
Bear with me! Exciting times ahead!

Everything will be done by tonight at the latest!

Oh absolutely this will be aimed at making Binarycoin a "real" coin in the sense that it will have constant support and bugfixes along with a
never ending push to move this project forward.
Hang in there just a little longer, I'm almost done!

:-)

Will Provide links shortly!

There are a few different designs, but this one made the cut.

An homage to the original   :o

Maybe BIC will find a 2nd life!

Any pools?

Any news?

Yes Yes there is sorry!

Any pools?

https://www.Cryptopia.co.uk/  (https://www.Cryptopia.co.uk/)
Currently hosts a pool where you may mine Binarycoin!

THE NEWS

1. Nodes are currently launching. If you watch your wallets you will notice the connection rise.
also if you go to the site mentioned above (Cryptopia) and go to "Explorer" then select Binarycoin
it will allow you to view the nodes currently up. I've just launched 5 (some are still catching up on sync)
I also just rebooted the first fully sync'd node as the serer it was on needed a clean startup so it should
    be registering momentarily

2. Github updated again with a hard cap implemented. So now the coin will actually stop at its projected
84.096Million. This will occur on block 4204800 so we are nearing the 50% mark.

3.  Github will be updated again shortly with the nodes hardcoded into the wallet.
Also implementing an "autogenerate" config file (which can then be modified to suite your needs).
This will allow for the average user to not have to input any kind of settings or do anything special
to run BinaryCoin. It will be a simple double click and go!

4. Client is scheduled to be released today. Sorry about the previous deadline and it not being met however I
regrettably caught the flu and was down for a little. (I'm the main on the team who posts anything).

5.  Site will hopefully be live today but worst case scenario we're aiming for tomorrow.

6.  Finally going to add checkpoints to secure everything up a little further.

Will definitely keep in touch today. (Have a few other places to post as well and things to do)

What the fuck is the point of this coin?
Am I missing something here, why is it called binary coin if its not attached to an options platform?

As of right now there is not a particular Use of the blockchain. CryptoCoderz has revived this coin from death and are working on functionalities that will be added to it. for more updated information please visit the new Offical Thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1223493.msg12806444#msg12806444) or our website CryptoCoderz (http://cryptocoderz.com)

I do not believe that he is accepting regular clients. that being said. he might be willing to make an exception for the right pay. i will let him know you are interested in his skills. and would also recommend using out new ANN for all things related to the Binary project.
