I think Scrypt-Jane is the best.  Although scrypt is still obviously better than SHA-256 from the perspective of anyone wanting to actually mine.. how many people ACTUALLY have asic miners... it would just be a waste of time for the largest majority of the community to even want to contribute to mining the coin.

No, its a cgminer fork called yac2 (if i remember correctly) a few other coins also use it, QQcoin, Velocity

Works just the same, just with a different exe and a few extra parameters, it does double the kh/s and about half the heat on my 7990's, somebody said it uses less power too.

I'd like to make a fish pool, for http://notnull.org (http://notnull.org) - signup at the site and I will fire off an email when the pool site becomes available. I am waiting to hear from the developer on a beta test network period. I like providing pools for brand new coins, but since this is scrypt-jane (is it?), which is annoying, I want a real test net. I don't really care if the developer team can't arrange that, that is just a giant red flag.

So far I only like the name, so disclaimer: "this is highly unlikely to be worth the time to mine, especially make a pool, due to a ridiculous lack of information. it is likely that notnull does not bring a pool up based on the lack of any fundamental information so far."

Is there any other information out there about this coin?  Max coins?  Fees?  Block target time? POS?  N-factor? Starting difficultly? And most importantly...   Does this coin offer anything new or special that doesn't already exist?

We talked about the pool at launch by PM and he choose me, so I'll receive the source 10 minutes before official release and http://fish.cryptovalley.com (http://fish.cryptovalley.com) will work directly at the beginning. He chose only one pool to avoid forked blockchains but don't worry, it will not be a 51% threat, as soon as the source will be public all the others pool administrators can join (and I hope they'll do because I don't want my pool to have more than 50%)!

No. We cannot mine with cgminer. We need a separate miner for scrypt-jane similar to Applecoin or QQcoin.

No. You need to use a scrypt-jane miner (yaccoin / applecoin / qqcoin). Here is the link for Applecoin GPU miner. Just edit the .bat file and update with Fishcoin settings when provided.

Due to scrypt-jane, your gpu miners will be less effective as time goes on making coin generation slower and slower.

I am using miner (ybcminer version 3.3.1.) for the first time.. absolutelly dont know how to set it up..
If I use same setting from cgminer where I am getting 700 khs, here it gives me just 275 khs.. is this normal or I am doing something wrong?

YACminer (YBCminer) still uses the --thread-concurrency / -i / -w / -g flags because it is a fork of cgminer.

In other words, use your cgminer config for those flags.

try it  use you cgminer.conf  Value   -I TC gpu-enginer and gpu-memclock

If you get 700 kh/s from cgminer, you would probably get around 5 Mh/s with low diff in scrypt-jane and it will reduce when diff increases. I started mining Applecoin 2nd after launch and I got around 4 Mh/s and now its just 230 kh/s. I get around 600 kh/s in cgminer.

Yup, I can confirm your value.. I am just test-mining applecoin on coin-base.info and miner runs 275 khs, on cgminer I am getting 700 out of R280X, so your words must be true :)

Anyway, eventhough miner shows me 275 for APC, on pool it shows me just 65.. I am mining there like 30 minutes now.. On normal pools this hashrates has like 5 minutes lag, but here it doesnt seem it is lag.. is it possible that I am mining ever much less than miner shows?

EDIT: so I had to decrease intensity to 12, with 13 it was giving me many HW errors, I just overlooked it in miner.. so that is why in pool I was just like 60ish.. now with I12 it runs 268 in miner, pool already showing 236 and still increasing so looking good..

I'm not sure about the thread-concurrency. I usually use 21712 or 22400 when mining scrypt based coins. My settings are --gpu-engine 1100 --gpu-memclock 1350 --gpu-powertune 20 -I 19. I mine with HD 7950 GPU. You can try the other pools to see if you get a similar hash rate.

Ok, so because of delay, I made some small research and found out:

dev "deppJ" made already some nice sucessfull projects..

First of all, he positivelly answered in discussions "Do we already lot of alt coins" in May 2013

But this experience probably led him to think about it.. Hey, we may have had lot of altcoins already back in may, but maybe there is still space for realasing even more!

So dev create tremendously sucessfull coin PayCoin in August, that no body ever heared of and which has zero volume, zero reach, zero inovation.. all this coin did was just some small pump and dump when listed on coinex.pw

Month later after launching PayCoin, there was no more reply from dev, zero interest about his coin anymore. Yet it mistakenly appeared on cryptsy with very low volume. Losing 90% of its price since listing, only one pump and dump there from 9.12.

So after this experience, dev probably gained some more confidence how to release totally useless coin and how to profit from it. So we are now in new year and dev is releasing new coin fish coin! Without any inovations, probably without any further interest, just with some small delay. Yaaay!

Haha, I did not really stoped it, but I had to switch rigs to mine some jane-scrypt coin, which was apple coin.. so it took me few hours to tweak it all up, because I never minted jane scrypt and had to prepare rigs for this coin..
