Title: FranceBitcoin.com For Sale & Bitcoin.me SOLD For $10,000
Post by: NeverLoseVision on January 02, 2014, 08:58:09 PM
Some nice news just came across my desk and wanted to pass along for your viewing pleasure.

FranceBitcoin [.com] - is for sale by the owner for a flat fee of 30 Bitcoins

CanadaBitcoin [.com] - is for sale by the owner for "double digit Bitcoin offers only"

ArgentinaBitcoin [.com] - is NOT for sale according to the owner, regardless of price

NetherlandsBitcoin [.com] - is NOT for sale according to the owner, regardless of price

ChinaBitcoin [.com] - is for sale by the owner for a flat fee of $5,000 USD

UAEBitcoin [.com] - is for sale by the owner for a flat fee of 60 Bitcoins

Bitcoin [.me] - Just sold on SEDO for $10,000 according to TheDomains which is an industry leading blog owned and operated by a very successful and knowledgable domain investor.

Here is the post:  http://www.thedomains.com/2014/01/02/bitcoin-me-sells-for-10000/

These names have great potential in the right hands. Local "geo-domains" have a very strong track record and create a timeless brand advantage in my opinion. It's only a matter of time until the Bitcoin market expands and the digital marketing follows.

I agree, $5k USD for ChinaBitcoin [.com] is an absolute steal.

A bit more interesting though, the owner of IndiaBitcoin [.com] and ColombiaBitcoin [.com] is Mr. Sunny Ray who is the Director of Business Development at Buttercoin [.com] who is backed by Google Ventures and Y-Combinator.

Is this going to become the official "domain for sale" thread?  If so, cool:
I have bitcoinganja.com, bitganja.com, bitspeculator.com, bitcoinartgallery.com for sale.

The numbers are interesting and tell me that the price at the very moment might be kind of (almost) justified, but the potential, the potential...

The CHinabitcoin.com price is rather low, that struck me too.  I wonder if it's because it's a .com address.  Do CHinese people use .com addresses?  Maybe it's because they woud never go to a .com address?  and you'd only get AMericans there?

The dot com brand has penetrated every corner of the globe. While each country operates their own ccTLD (.ca, .de, .se, .jp, etc) some are used for generic and branding purposes; .TV, .Me, .CC, etc., are examples of this. At the end of the day ".com" still trumps the global domain asset investment and development arenas for numerous reasons. ChinaBitcoin[.com] is likely the foundation to a great local "China Bitcoin" company and vehicle to instant trust and organic traffic which leads to a competitive advantage ---> exactly why tens of millions of dollars have exchanged hands each and every year since 2006. That being said, it is important to realize every domain owner has his or her own perception of value and threshold for a "buy it now" conversation. But as mentioned, I have been told there is a sale pending.

Come on guys, the whole idea behind BTC is to be above all countries. A domain name "countryname-bitcoin.com" is absolutely worthless.

LoL. Thats pretty humorous. ;)

No offense but very clearly you have ZERO experience with global marketing, domain assets, or intellectual property.

No need to reply. These are the type of posts that initiate unprofessional and uneducated "forum wars" and I'm not interested in participating.

Take care.

I don't see how chinabitcoin.com can be this worth.
It's totally worthless because chinese people would search for 比特币中国 (already taken), rather than "china bitcoin".
Why they would search in english if they could use their own language?

You can't see "how" because you're not familiar with the domain name industry - or - the valuation metrics and development potential of such a name. It's ok! ;) I will not lose any sleep over you not understanding. As the OP, I was merely passing along industry related research for the public to digest.

For your information, "China Bitcoin" is searched 720 times per month with a suggest bid of $2.09 per click, which is represented by Google within the advertiser dashboard. There are 156,000,000 results in Google for China Bitcoin and 164,000 results in quotes; "China Bitcoin".

Further, on Google.com.hk there are 180,000,000 results with 164,000 in quotes. That's a lot of information, a lot of interest, and a lot of potential.

Like it, love it, hate it...or don't quite understand it, it's a reality.

No offense but very clearly you have ZERO experience with global marketing, domain assets, or intellectual property.

I've been working in advertising from 1995 to 1999 and I was making good money.
It's actually possible that some people may value a site named "countryname-bitcoin.com" but it would be wrong. All the companies I'm working for nowadays are global, with websites in different languages, but .com ; .net or .org domain suffixes so that people cannot tell where we're based (in a place where there's no tax). Thinking local is OK for selling vegetables, but for my business, and BTC, it's only a global village. Many old bitcoiners are also anarchists who don't trust governments, so the idea of going to a "countryname-bitcoin.com" website sounds just like going to the taxman, who only wants to kill BTC. No way!

Well, while it's not a incredible number of searches, it's still leading the global "search query charts" for country-specific data. But, you have to put it in to context to comprehend the bigger picture and reality.

"China Bitcoin" as a search query (and industry) basically and recently arrived from "thin air" and is still in its infancy. You have to understand what it means from a local (and global) perspective as it relates to the real world of new media and marketing and the potential as a brand.

The suggested bid, PER CLICK, is $2.06 and is supported by the information, interest, and potential ROI, for the relevant and hot leads. As mentioned, the 156,000,000 (164,000 in quotes) archives or results within the Google platform is substantial.

To give a comparison in popularity:

"Dubai Tourism" = 224,000 (dubai is a city/state not country)
"Germany Wine" = 88,100
"South Africa Safari" = 199,000
"Australia Scuba Diving" = 24,500
"Ireland Pubs" = 14,000
"Jamaica Real Estate" = 146,000
"Peru Hiking" = 58,200
"Turkey Gold" = 168,000
"Canada Parks" = 96,000
"Iceland Banking" = 23,000
"Mexico Resorts" = 130,000
"Spain Nightlife" = 13,600
"Thailand Massage" = 99,700
"Zimbabwe Currency" = 84,900
"China Moneygram" = 5,570 !

It stacks up pretty damn good, I think you would now agree.

So, in closing, it's not about someone trying to turn "ChinaBitcoin[.com] in to the next $100 billion dollar IPO on Wall Street, but rather a country-specific marketing platform positioned as an exchange or wallet. It could become the official "China Bitcoin" foundation or group, or, developed as a local platform or marketplace for peer-to-peer Bitcoin trade. It could be a directory of all merchants accepting bitcoin or an online shopping mall exclusively for bitcoin. Or, it could be a marketing play for an ATM or Mining company targeting the "China Bitcoin" market. Either way, if you are looking to be a leader in the "China Bitcoin" market/vertical/sector/industry, there is no better brand available. As the industry grows, more and more entities are going to compete for these keywords within their meta data, online page content, and through their pay-per-click campaigns. FACT.

Yes, I agree. I know numbers like that and that's why I said it seems really cheap in the first place, above all the potential.

720 searches puts it back into perspective a bit for me and makes it more understandable why its running for that price. But still, like I said in the first place, seems like a really good price.

By "leading the global "search query charts" for country-specific data" you mean there is no "[name of country] Bitcoin" searched more for than "China Bitcoin"? Where do you get that data from?

Keywords in web-adresses are not as important anymore as they used to be, btw. Just saying.

I would have to agree that the domain names starting with /city/state/country+BITCOIN+ .com would have to posses great inherent value judging by the recent fact that out all of the 50 states, 40 have already been registered.

A couple of golden us domain name nuggets I found that are NOT registered yet are

pennsylvaniabitcoin.com

minnesotabitcoin.com

nebraskabitcoin.com

wyomingbitcoin.com

missouribitcoin.com

someone in the community who is interested should snap these up and make some coins for themselves developing or selling the domains.

For those not up to speed on this type of domain name speculation should google the term
"billboardable domain names".
