I tried to make a altcoin this morning and my transaction has not completed on the website yet.

As you might imagine the server is a bit overloaded, also up until today payment was processed manually (ie I had to be awake). It should be done within the next few hours. Sorry for the delay.

I can make a C+P clone but I'm having GB troubles..

The site forks bitcoin, applies your settings and branding and ships you linux and windows binaries as well as (optional) source including git history.

No genesis block?

I'm lazy - it currently just uses the existing genesis block. This does introduce a bug that the first difficulty adjustment doesn't work, but thats useful for those who want to premine a bit anyway.

Yes, it works fine and you do not end up on the wrong chain as long as you have a different network packet magic - as your node will never peer with another node with a different magic.

It costs currently around $80 to remove the coingen branding so it's not like you won't be able to pick out some of the less serious ones... but that's easy anyway?

Sadly the server isn't cheap to compile these things faster than they're being requested...if the requests we're limiting by the people willing to pay 0.001 BTC, the server would be months behind already.

Anyway its a really good service and i'm sure you'll make a lot of money out of it, the one's who will lose out are devs who maintained exclusive development rights for altcoins.

Increased competition will also mean even fewer coins will survive.

It's about time, now that Scrypt is getting ASICs.

Sadly I dont really have much time to address these issues since I've got a few other projects going...that said, now that the branding stuff is done, adding new PoW algorithms and existing patches as options takes only a few seconds (the Scrypt option took about 5 minutes to add), so my current plan is to auction off the current code+domain+server to someone who has more time to add awesome new features.

How do these things handle bootstrap/initial node discovery? I've mined ~4,000 blocks of Magiccoin (the original test, I think?) but don't have any peers to share with :-P

I have a magic node which keeps track of peers for each coin and forwards them on in addr messages, but if no one else is running a node, youre sol.

I'd say it's a very fair price, considering server costs and development time.  The potential for profit on alt-coin creation is very high.

As some of you are aware, I have lots of other projects going, and I have absolutely 0 time to make this better (and there are tons of ways to do that...).
Ive seen a few offers for buying coins at 1 BTC if feature X or Y were added, but in order to save you the pain of building all the rebranding code like I did, I'm selling coingen.io (including the domain and all the source code) exclusively to the highest bidder (assuming the price is high enough).

Can someone please help me. I created an Alt Coin via coingen.io and downloaded the wallet but i'm clueless of how to get this thing going so i can mine. the wallet won't sync. I have no clue of what nodes i should add or if i need to add any to a .conf file. I read something about the genesis block needs to be created. i have no clue how to do that either. Please help. I created this coin just for fun and to learn more about mining.
