Thanks for the quesiton. Made a new announcement with updates to your question. The new hardfork block height is 525,000 due to the announcement by Bitmain regarding ASIC mining for equihash. We have to change the algo to keep it decentralized. There're other options we will implement.

Updated to X16R after doing some research.

Because of hardfork, the block rewards will be in the same ratio as well as block intervals.

12.5 BTC will be calculated in the following way:

Current BTC Reward multiplied by Increase Ratio divided by Block Interval Ratio

Thank you for the suggestion, we'll look into LBRY as well. At the moment due to time, we're proceeding with X16R as it does prevent ASICs.

As for claiming MBC, you'll need your private keys to your BTC wallet then use it to claim MBC.

Haven't heard from any yet. If you're interested you may contact us via discord regarding initial setup of a pool.

We haven't heard of any directly from the exchanges as it's up to them and the market to list and determine the price of MBC.

As announced here (https://twitter.com/microbitcoinorg/status/999577860586143744) , today the hard fork should take place. Still a limited comunity arround the coin and i didn't hear about miners supporting the hard fork yet. Overall, MicroBitcoin dosn't give a solid reasons about the hard fork have to occur and which problems he is willing to solve.

The first release of the Android wallet beta is here!

This first release includes the following functionalities:
- creating and restoring MicroBitcoin (MBC) Addresses,
- sending and receiving MicroBitcoins (MBC),
- request to receive a specific amount in MicroBitcoins (MBC).

Please note that this release only supports importing Bitcoin (BTC) private keys by use of the RECOVERY or MNEAMONIC PHRASE (series of words).

For those who had Bitcoin (BTC) at the time of the snapshot at Bitcoin (BTC) block height of 525,000, IF your address was a Legacy address (starting with number "1" of your address) your address will have MicroBitcoins in the 1:10,000 ratio as mentioned.
And for those who had addresses starting with "3" (which is usually either a multisig wallet, SegWit address or other types) there will be support for it in the next update of the wallet, the developers are working day and night to provide this ASAP!

Lastly, this is a beta version of the first release of the Android wallet and there may be errors caused during operation. Please provide feedback in such a case.

Addition to the previous announcement, for those who know how to use the QT Wallet, feel free to go ahead and import your private keys and run using the -reindex=1 flag and once it fully syncronizes, you should have MicroBitcoins (MBC) in the ratio of 1:10,000 AS LONG AS you had Bitcoin (BTC) at the time of snapshot - Bitcoin (BTC) block height 525,000

Some quick development updates so far:
- Current height is `525,616` which means there're some miners out there already mining!
- `QT Wallet` has been updated and the previous bug is fixed.

This network update will fix the reply protection issue spotted by ymgve, one of our open source community contributors. MicroBitcoin is also going to switch to LWMA2 difficulty algorithm, that would bring more stable timespan between blocks and make the network more resistant to attacks.

Network Upgrade Success
Ladies and Gentlement, MicroBitcoin (MBC) network has been upgraded and is in motion. The devs have been hard at work and we have a better and safer network running!

Updates
After a successful network upgrade the devs are continuing to work on making the new wallets work on the updated network.
The adoption of a new difficulty adjustment algorithm as well as the fixed replay protection are vital entries to keep the network safe and for transactions to be more secure.

Wallets
The Web Wallet will probably be the first release as it can be used in the internet browser (also on both iOS and Android).
As for Android and iOS wallets, they will be available for download from the respective appstores after their approval from Google and Apple.
If devs can make it possible, the APK and iOS install files may be available as well but it would be cool if it's on the appstores 😎

MBC Halving
Following up, we'd like to update everyone on the halving situation. MicroBitcoin being a hard fork has inherited Bitcoin core's halving intervals which occurs every 210,000 blocks. In order to match MicroBitcoins 1 block per minute, the interval will be prolonged by 10 folds AFTER the next halving period, which is at block height 630,000. The reward will also be halved from 12,500 to 6,250 MBC per block.
The halving estimated date is 16 October 2018, and after that the intervals will be every 2,100,000 blocks which will be at block height 2,730,000.

It has been a while since we made an official announcement regarding the development and progress of updates that are to come.

**Core**
Developing on technology that is still in the early states if not of an easy task, however, developers are managing to provide updates to provide a better and more efficient protocol for payments.
In light to the above statement, we'd like to ask the community to acknowledge <@476035685682380841> for contribution to the next release of the LWMA3 algorithm for difficulty adjustment as this update will possibly (maybe eventually) be implemented in other cryptocurrency projects. **Wallets**
The team has been pushing the stores for listing, however, so far Google Play Store is the only one that has been friendly. Apple Appstore seems to difficult to list as they have declined individual developer listings relating to cryptocurrencies. If anyone from the community may be able to assist and provide access for listing please reach out to any of the devs.
In the mean time, the team and community members have reached out to wallet providers for addition of MicroBitcoin in their wallets, i.e. Coinomi and Ledger.
The more requests we can ask, the better chance we have that they consider 😎

**Troubleshooting**
There have been some issues, possibly, and the fixes are underway. Please see <#479474812784214028> for details to how you can backup your wallet and then restore it in the newer versions. Here are some tips to troubleshoot:
- Check if your seed phrase is correct **BEFORE** you uninstall the app
- If your balance isn't showing, try closing the app and opening it again (the devs are currently working to make it better)
- Check if your address has balance using the **block explorer** 👉  <https://microbitcoinorg.github.io/explorer>
- Check the transaction history of your address in the **block explorer** (the blockchain is very difficult to hack, it's easier to hack the person)
- Use the Mnemonic converter <https://microbitcoinorg.github.io/mnemonic> to get list of addresses and private keys of your wallet (can be used to verify your wallet address)

FPGA covert mining has been started a week ago !!!!! bitstream is distributed by Whitefire990 all mined coins are being DUMPED at exchange as they need to RIO their overpaid FPGAs!
Atm some ~300 FPGA are mining at per 1Ghs per FPGA!

POW change that would not be abused by secret and covert mining is only the ones limited bu memory bandwith and size!

I suggest you move to progpow, or invest in developing some memory abuse algo!

 Development Update
The development team would like to provide an update on the current status.

As mentioned before, MBC is working on an New PoW Algorithm in order to keep mining ASIC-resistant. The main part of the development is ready, and is available on the test network.

To accelerate the development and release of the new algorithm, the development team is seeking support:
1. Updates for 2 pool engines (NOMP and YIIMP),
2. Updates for 3 different mining programs (CPUMiner, AMD and Nvidia),
3. and ElecrumX server updates.

So far the CPUMiner is ready, and partial YIIMP support is done.

Though the core developers are working on NOMP support, they are working to provide a release as soon as possible.

Difficulty Too High
The expected block 830,000 is at a very high difficulty due to a minor bug that was to lower the difficulty at that block, instead will be at the next block. Which takes much longer time for the miners to mine.

To fix this, the developers are going to release a fixed updated patch in the next 30 minutes.

Never heard about this forked coin before today by chance this thread. It is listed on CMC that is good point and also few hours ago was update. I have no idea how things went here since last May but will be digging in now. The devs initially added some complexity based on floation point math so that it will make the algo harder to implement on FPGAs/ASICs hardware. However, a bug was found that created different hashes on different architectures. This new update is for resolving that bug and to fully implement Rainforest v2 algorithm.

The top pools are all well run and used to pay out on regular basis. Unfortunately since May 9th a single (private) miner had been mining 98%+ of all MBC coins.  The developer has exploited a weakness in the new RFV2 algorithm and updated his miner to take advantage of said weakness. After 18 days, even with updates to the CPU and NVidia miners, the rest of the MBC community (99.99% of us) are left to fight for the remaining 1%-2% of all new MBC coins created.  While I applaud the developer for his extensive knowledge and coding skills, this much control in the power of one pool and one person is extremely unhealthy for any coin.  I would suggest mining elsewhere until the playing field is leveled.

MicroBitcoin is Launching New Network

MBCians, we are firing up engines! New network launching is set to happen at 1,137,200th block which is estimated to occur on October 9, 2019, at 11:00 UTC.

[Key Features of New Network]
-MBCs (MicroBitcoin) which haven't been moved since hardfork will be burned. (There is approximately 2,700,000 BTC activated so far from the 525,001 block)
-Locking up the 50% of the premined contributors' MicroBitcoin. (Almost 5,000,000,000 MBC will be technically locked up until 2021.)
-Maximum Supply will be almost 61,000,000,000 MBC. It will be different according to the snapshot amount.
-Reward for first block of new network will be changed from 12,500 MBC to 5,500 MBC. And reward for each new block will be calculated using the function in the document below.
-To make network more reliable, prevent block spamming and create better fee market, block size will be decreased to 300kb.
-New PoW lgorithm - modified YesPower (sha256 replaced with blake2b)

The algo is called power2b apparently based on yespower but I don't know the parameters.
The OP and the web page still refer to rainforestv2.

If the parameters are known it should be mineable with cpuminer-opt.

I heard that the founder and creator of MicroBitCoin - the so-called iamstenman / itwysgsl is dead, is that true  or are they just rumors?

Who knows, all i know is that it sucks contributing to a project and there is such weak engagement or communication from the project owners.
LiteBitcoin is a complete waste, but so many people are mining and i cant understand why if there is no exchange for this coin.
Now MicroBitcoin, amazingly fast ive tested sending and its amazing, but now the wallet i used just doesnt synch anymore it says 5 days behind.

But MBC is already listed on STEX. Of course, it would be nice if there were more exchanges because withdrawal fees and deposit requirements are high. The community didn't grow much after the release, I don't have the knowledge of how many people use and mining MBC, but it shouldn't be that many, so it's difficult to make any progress in terms of adoption.

I purchased some MBC from bitonbay.com and I have not received it into my digital wallet that I downloaded from the google play store. I was able to deposit BTC into the website and I was able to buy the MBC, but when I initiated the withdraw it did not complete and it has been a few months now and when I try to submit a service request it takes me to a page the states DNS error 1000 and I am unable to submit my customer service request. When I log in I can still see my purchased MBC but I can not withdraw it. Can you help me get my MBC that I purchased?

quantum computing is fast coming. even though some could argue that it is not an immediate threat (<1 year horizon), still some breakthrough both on hardware and algorithms side pose serious risk to vast majority of current cryptocurrencies, bitcoin included.

-quantum resistance

could boost this project!

In my opinion, the BIGGEST error of this project and aby project that is a fork of btc is to automatically allocate coins to btc holders.

Guys, btc failed Satoshi vision. Brc has become a CENTRALIZED system in rhe hands of few powerfull miners. The digital central banks I call them. Btc does NOT and will never hold Satoshi vision of "one cpu one vote". It is not a currency of the people for the people.

When automatically allocating new project coins to btc holders, remember that btc miners will systematically get lot of free coins without any effort and they do not want any competitor to btc and their power, so they will concert and DUMP the new coins at a atrategic moment and kill the project in its ascension. Or at the very least, slow it down. Big mistake of any project forked from btc!

It is high time for a revolution, a new "btc", that must achieve two things:
1) true decentralization by holding Satoshi vision of "one cpu, one vote" thus it should be gpu, asic/fpfa unfriendly

2) take into account emerging threats like quantum computing by integrating from the start post quantum cryptography, otherwise it is doomed and born to fail when state actors (US, China, ?) will have enough quantum firepower to burry it should the new decentralized system become a threat to their power and centralized system.
