Is this legit? Is there any indication of this not being a fabrication?

seems like china is no longer driving the upward trend, but it's more the U.S. now. china's trade volume has dropped significantly; it used to be more than the top 3 major exchanges combined, and now it seems like it's smaller than any of the 3 major exchanges.

Oh mama.  Netflix... Facebook... if this pans out, this is going to get exciting!

This could be a scam, ie, photoshop.  No one has verified this.  On the other hand this is just in the testing phase and not an actual press release from FB.  Anyone on these boards have a business in Netherlands?  Open up a business account via FB, it's free, and try to start and ad and pay for it, see if its an option. 

As much as Zuckerberg hates the W Twins, I didn't see this coming, but who knows...

I do not know what's so spectacular, because Facebook and Zynga also receive USD and each credit card payment.

Being able to accept payments in BTC, whether or not you can also accept credit card payments, helps make Bitcoin more mainstream.

The more mainstream Bitcoin becomes, the more valuable it should be.

Read the thread (title should be changed), it's almost certain that the announcement is fake.

I am not sure if this is true or not but it could be.
Zynga is testing it and most of their userbase is facebook.
If it's true that Zynga pays about 9% on fees I can see a similar situation for facebook.

Usually I would call bullshit but because I've had some experience with AM and Facebook ads, knowing how close Zynga and FB were at one time, this actually makes sense as a lot of AM's have been moving into the bitcoin space during the last quarter of 2013.

I encourage you to daily search google news for "bitcoin".
The number of good news articles coming out daily is staggering.  Bitcoin is booming around the world right now.
If this website is your only source of information, i encourage you to use Google news.

Most articles in Google News are repeated, but anyway, if there's any positive news about bitcoin you'll find that someone already posted it in this forum (more than once usualy)..  ;D

Do these sites even technically need to accept btc? Couldn't they just use a payment processor who takes the btc payment and converts it to usd for the company? I don't see why companies can't do that and sort of indirectly accept bitcoin.

All right then, is just that I do that (search news by bitcoin) and all the times that I was going to post something here I found it (using the search function before posting), and seeing the constant hype here I guessed it will be hard for people to miss anything. Bare in mind that many times news are posted in unrelated sub-forums and/or with non descriptive titles, but I guess that's another subject. :-X

Even if so, the Zynga + BTC testing should be more than sufficient to put the proverbial foot-in-the-door for Bitcoin and Facebook. As payment for virtual items it's already been in play with BigPoint Games for a few months now.

i have a dutch company account, but since it's still in testing i doubt i'd be able to see it.


of course, but a large company like facebook accepting bitcoin directly would make bitcoin a lot more legitimate to new bitcoin users.

It would be awesome if this were true. I should happen. It would also be a great way for parents to manage money spent of silly games.       It would be nice if the bitcointalk community supported a bitcoin awareness pr campaign.  Every business should be accepting bitcoins. Sometimes people just need to be told what to do.

I hope its true, seems like btc is rising since the news.

Facebook knows about it every company knows about Bitcoin and they would all be considering using it.

No way this would be public testing.  Especially not with a payment processor.  If it's true, it's being tested by a QA/Dev. team, and they're working out bugs/functionality. 

Still think it would be pretty awesome.

I just copied and Googled "Nieuwe betalingsmethode toevoegen" from the screen grab in the article, I had to use Tor to actually go to the relevant Dutch site because Facebook redirects me in chrome.

I would say definitely fake.

I would say this pretty much confirms it's not really.  Is there a chance it's real?  Of course albeit a very small chance.  Fake stories being posted, I'd almost have to say we should close thread.

Why would someone try to fake this, getting peoples hopes up.

Someone has already posted, somebody getting ready to dump a fair amount of coins, an announcement likie Facebook accepting BTC is enough to hike the price.

I did ask my friend, who works at FB for quite some time and he said that it either is VERY, VERY well kept secret, or this is completely fake.
It is like 95% fake.

This is some good news for BTC's if it was true though I doubt it considering the previous comments on this topic.

Yeah, we think these coins have value now, just imagine when the other 99.9% of the world starts using them! Limited supply, increased demand = increased price!

My sources also say the news is fake. Thumbs down for the site which gave it.
