Most articles in Google News are repeated, but anyway, if there's any positive news about bitcoin you'll find that someone already posted it in this forum (more than once usualy).. Unfortunately that isn't the case. There have been plenty of articles not mentioned here. All very positive. Still encourage everyone to get a google news feed app on their phone and enter "bitcoin" as the search phrase for daily updates. Tons of stuff not seen here. Also Coindesk.com has tons of new info you dont see here. In fact, most of the podcasts I listen to on Bitcoin have information nobody mentions here.

Is this legit? Is there any indication of this not being a fabrication?
Agreed, this could be very easily faked.

Well, is that website legit or not?
I see some errors in the writing, but still, it looks like a serious site.

Either folks at FB are worse in CSS than me in MS Paint, or this is fake: probably a fake.

All right then, is just that I do that (search news by bitcoin) and all the times that I was going to post something here I found it (using the search function before posting), and seeing the constant hype here I guessed it will be hard for people to miss anything. Bare in mind that many times news are posted in unrelated sub-forums and/or with non descriptive titles, but I guess that's another subject.

this didn't seem to make sense.. accepting btc is too much of a risk for a company like facebook, and what are the benefits really?

Probably fake?
Even if so, the Zynga + BTC testing should be more than sufficient to put the proverbial foot-in-the-door for Bitcoin and Facebook. As payment for virtual items it's already been in play with BigPoint Games for a few months now.

So 2 pages and no one points out there is not one credible source backing this up?
This could be a scam, ie, photoshop. No one has verified this. On the other hand this is just in the testing phase and not an actual press release from FB. Anyone on these boards have a business in Netherlands? Open up a business account via FB, it's free, and try to start and ad and pay for it, see if its an option. As much as Zuckerberg hates the W Twins, I didn't see this coming, but who knows... i have a dutch company account, but since it's still in testing i doubt i'd be able to see it. Do these sites even technically need to accept btc? Couldn't they just use a payment processor who takes the btc payment and converts it to usd for the company? I don't see why companies can't do that and sort of indirectly accept bitcoin.
of course, but a large company like facebook accepting bitcoin directly would make bitcoin a lot more legitimate to new bitcoin users.

It would be awesome if this were true. I should happen. It would also be a great way for parents to manage money spent of silly games. It would be nice if the bitcointalk community supported a bitcoin awareness pr campaign. Every business should be accepting bitcoins. Sometimes people just need to be told what to do.

No way this would be public testing. Especially not with a payment processor. If it's true, it's being tested by a QA/Dev. team, and they're working out bugs/functionality. Still think it would be pretty awesome.

I finally made a good thread! Well, is it a "good" thread?! It has a lot of views and responses simply because of the title but I'm pretty sure this is fake until proven otherwise...

I just copied and Googled "Nieuwe betalingsmethode toevoegen" from the screen grab in the article, I had to use Tor to actually go to the relevant Dutch site because Facebook redirects me in chrome. Here is the relevant page actually on Facebook "Facebook ads - what are my payment options" and listed are Visa MasterCard American Express Discover PayPal Automatische incasso https://nl-nl.facebook.com/help/338388466239851/I would say definitely fake.

I would say this pretty much confirms it's not really. Is there a chance it's real? Of course albeit a very small chance. Fake stories being posted, I'd almost have to say we should close thread. And BitCoinSteve, not your fault, you're just posting what you find!
