Between Bitcoin and Altcoin. We all very well known that bitcoin, being the first and most proven cryptocurrency already took the center stage in crypto market. Now that altcoins came into the picture, where does it really stands? What will be the selling point of altcoin that will eventually led the bitcoin enthusiasts to finally switch places?

I don't think there are specifications in which people would eventually switch their bitcoin to alternate coins not unless bitcoins does not hold value anymore and people do not have any choice but to switch to altcoins instead of bitcoin. I think we can say that bitcoin is ideal image for everything that came afterwards that is altcoins. Generalizing altcoins doesn't help because shitcoins are also altcoins;  Ethereum, EOS, BCH, XRP, NEO, etc can be as important as Bitcoin while there are those that can never be on the same level with Bitcoin.

Altcoin would be some other way for me of earnings aside of bitcoin. But seeing it important as bitcoin will not be preferable for me, to think that bitcoin is rolling its own way and making some progress the way they supposed. And alt for me is just other way that people would not be bored on focussing bitcoin only. Its just a diversion of some people who has easily bored of something repeatedly.

For me altcoins are just created just to give bitcoin some good market,how would bitcoin survive without these altcoins? there will be no trading if theres no altcoins existing.

I think yes, it is very important that we must have altcoins these days. I mean there are so many wider opportunities are there which altcoins has given us. Previously there was bitcoin and if there would have been only bitcoin then do you think that we would have blessed with all the trading platforms, exchanges and stuff like that? I guess no, and that is where altcoins come in and gives us ideal way to think about new opportunities that they have given us.

At first, it did not seem like altcoins were going to be important and that bitcoin would always be the only useful cryptocurrency but ethereum managed to change all of that and show us different. Now altcoins are just as important as bitcoin and they do just as much and bring more money if not even more. They have also helped investors make a lot of money in the past couple of years.

I agree completely with your analysis. Bitcoin is truly the center of the crypto world and altcoins depend on it in a mutual manner. unfortunately what you are calling "competition" has never been much of a competition. there has been only alternative ways of making money which we call altcoins. there has been some rare innovations in this system and some decent projects but majority of the altcoins, specially the top10, have always been purely for pump and dumps which kills any kind of competition in this market because all the money goes into the top pumped coins not the good projects that are not pumped and are outside of top 10.

The importance of altcoins is about the adaptions and mostly used by different bounty campaigns as a main contributions of salaries to the people who joined and works in bounty campaign. And many kinds of altcoins now that being introduce in the market, are came from different bounty campaigns. Well based on my knowledge and understanding about those cryptos, thet are both important, altcoin are the ones controlling the equality of all cryptos, example the litecoins, namecoins, neo and other altcoins are good example of altcoins that really help the cryptocyrrency to be more wide, and also specially the Bitcoin which is the frontliner and universal of all cryptocurrencies in the world the people are being more knowledgable about cryptocurrencies because of these two. I don't find altcoins to be equally important, to me altcoins were the assets that grow depending on bitcoin. In simple terms when there is only one thing in the market we don't value it, same when we have large number of assets one can easily differentiate from the other with its growth. This makes bitcoin stand unique making it more important than altcoins.

Not all but some altcoin is important as bitcoin because there is functions on them that bitcoin has not. Think that not all altcoin are developed well and other are just used to scammed people but there are altcoin that follows bitcoin better and I trust on few of them where I am serious to invest on it.

Yes I think so. Think of bitcoin as the KING of all coins and the other coins below it are the ones making bitcoin a King. Without alternate coins, I don't think bitcoin will be the same as it is now. What I also notice is that the investment now is divided unlike before were majority of investors are hodling bitcoin. As of now, I think bitcoin is still the safest bet in terms of investment but the other coin are trying to be on the same wavelength as bitcoin.

The top 10 coins in 2013 have all done worse than BTC has, only Litecoin has been able to limit the damage relative to BTC and is still relevant today. It's your own choice what to invest in of course, but personally, I am playing it safe and not going to gamble with alts. I do have a few litecoins and some nano as well, but that's just a small percentage of my total portfolio.

Altcoins will grow and fall because it's a market. It can not be said that only growth is possible. But, the general trend for growth will continue. And of course some projects will die, in general there will be no so easy!
