Title: Buy anything from my store and get paid 1 BTC
Post by: Xenland on September 01, 2011, 12:38:24 AM
Hey everyone my store is being released tomorrow and I'd really like to test and see how the whole customer to shipping processing experience will be. You don't have to do anything except report any errors(which hopefully wont be any). Purchase anything from my store www.CheaperinBitcoins.com and I will pay you 1 BTC. PM me your email address you will be registering with on my website. I'm thinking I can do this for 3 different people.

Thanks for your support everyone!

I checked out your store, it looks pretty good but how do you keep the price in BTC updated to reflect changes in market value?

Do you have some sort of php script that does it on the backend?

Just curious how it your site works.

You should really read the front page paragraph. It details why I don't put up with exchange rates.

Honestly it would be more work to follow exchange rates, I mean by the time I log online and check your orders exchange rates can change by a couple of cents which could lead to a $$ which if I'm trying to penny save by following exchange rates I wont make any money ever and its almost impossible to track how much income i made.

I also have an About Us page(i'm getting it reviewed soon for spelling errors and grammer errors) over at https://cheaperinbitcoins.com/aboutus

I can reimburse you when you purchase?

Remove state tax?
it is required if you live in the same state as where my business is registered, this is a legal operating business.

Bitcoin is not meant evade governments or purchase illegal things I believe it is created to help fight against identity-theft.

Yea, but what happens if the price drops to like 2 cents per BTC and you have like a 60 inch TV for sale for only like 30BTC? lol

you should put the sales tax as deposits into your awesome store credit thing.

the Asus 5870 on the site, is that a reference cooler-style or is it one of the Asus DirectCU II-style?  could you post exact model #'s, i'll probably order a 5870.

Could you change the font? I don't know about other people, but it drives my eyes bonkers reading it in descriptions. I actually copied it to notepad.

I would have to agree - the description part of the products font is huge with very little spacing (line spacing)

I have alot of padding, at worst if the exchange rate drops below my set price by $3 i will be initially losing money yes.... but I can't give out all my money making secrets now can I.

I will have SKU number displayed directly on the website ASAP for now here is the SKU number to the 5870 you were talking about

EAH5870-V2-PCIE-1GB-PB-R

I couldn't exactly find what you were looking for as far as the cooling question goes but the SKU should help solve things just type it in froogle or google.

i have tried making some changes to my account "details" etc.. When I click the update button (for the section I just updated) it says syncing data then refreshes - with no data entered. Goes back to blank.

So the items are actually in stock or do you have everything set to in stock for testing?

I don't seem to be experiencing this issue although I will definably be looking into this problem.

As of right now "Optional Information" doesn't record any information is that what you could be talking about?

Yes items are stocked ready to go.....

I'd like to note that you must contact me by email(which will be active tomorrow) sales@cheaperinbitcoins.com if you want international shipping as I must figure out rates manually.

I don't think you need to charge a tax if you are only accepting BTC as payment. BTC isint taxable....

lol BTC would be technically impossible to tax. the government wouldent have the resources to go rummaging through the block chain trying to figure out what went where lol.

Regardless, I have sell things by purchasing them with $$$ so I'm technically required by law. Its a fine line which I'm not ready to test the waters yet(nor do I plan on it) Some big billionaire can make a biz and evade taxes and test the government if they care about it or not, but by California state law I'm required to record all invoices accurately as well as apply 7.25% tax on all purchases. They will want to know what I did with all the money.....

Just think about it this way...

if goats were currency...
and someone paid me 20 goats for a video card, but my suppliers don't accept goats as payment....
So i sell my goats into dollars($$$) through the MT.Goats exchange,
i purchase the video card from suppliers with that money and then hand the video card to the customer....

Basically what just happened is that everyone got paid except for the california....
we all know what happens when you piss off the government.

it really isn't that big of a deal I'm working on getting zip code recongintion so no tax is applied when purchasing out side of california. Like someone else suggested I could use my "store credit" feature to give back the money in the mean time.

besides that everything has been tested, i've hired people of this community to hack up my application and they all deemed it safe...

Don't listen to those shitheads, Bitcoin's taxability has nothing at all to do with the price of fish in kenya.

You're in California? I've known friends who've had run-ins with the State board of Equalization there, and they're animals... if they suspect you're fucking the state over at all, or that your numbers don't add up, they will make up numbers based off any equivalent business they can find. You're doing the right thing by paying your taxes, though if you can't make it not charge out of staters I would tack a tiny bit onto your prices to cover the average number of California buyers and remove the sales tax from the site, and "eat" the sales tax for anyone buying from California.

AFAIK "charging" sales tax that's not owed and not paying it to the state is even worse than not paying sales tax you actually owe.

You would have to pay taxes on the stuff you bought that your selling but your BTC income is not taxable.

You won't find anywhere on a federal income tax form 1040 about bitcoins.

I'm a pretty respected community member(i like to think anyways) I went out on a limb to making MiningFarm and ended up obtaining the bounty for it.

.... of course you don't, because your taxes are due in USD? If your argument is that because the IRS don't ask about it, that you don't owe it - that's fucking stupid. You're supposed to pay tax on barter as well, you're supposed to figure out the USD value of whatever you bartered and claim it accordingly. Personally as far as income tax goes, I would just claim the amounts of the conversions to USD that you have to make, and for fuck's sake don't keep any books in BTC in case you get audited. However, there's something to be said about taking tax advice off the internet - it's worth about what you paid for it. If OP makes more than a few hundred bucks off this venture he really should go speak to a tax accountant/attorney instead.

As I said, the California State Board of Equalization are animals - they make the IRS look like a bunch of free-love hippies. They have zero qualms about putting a ramen-profitable small business out of business if the state doesn't think it's getting it's "fair" share.

But by all means, dodge all the taxes you like, just don't go telling people it's a good idea - particularly not when they live in California.

What you say is true but still there would be no way to know how much bitcoin someone made from a sale of goods unless the person kept records on it.

Bitcoins aint cash the only trail they leave is in the block chain and good luck keeping track of that lol.

I agree with what you say, its best you go ahead and do your taxes even if in reality there would be little evidence to prove a sale ever took place anyway lol.

What you say is true but still there would be no way to know how much bitcoin someone made from a sale of goods unless the person kept records on it.

... and what I'm saying is that from my 3rd party experience with the BOE in California, it sounds like they're not averse to just making shit up if you can't produce figures they like. So "no proof" isn't really a defense at all, and it's not exactly "innocent until proven guilty" with them either, the onus is on you to cover your ass.

Well california sucks anyway, I give it another 5 years and will be little more than an extention of mexico...

Not sure if someone told you yet by the way, but there's a 'laptop' for sale which only shows a picture of a mouse.

I was not aware of this
Would you mind PMing me the link to this product so i can have this fix?

Done.
