It would be very useful for all of us to get a basic idea as to how wealthy the people on this forum are at this point. There are many bitcoin millionaires here of course, but we want to get a better understanding of what the demographics are on this forum. I realize this kind of question has been asked before, but it is a good exercise to repeat the poll periodically.

yeah if you had that many coins, you definitely wouldn't disclose that.   between 1-20 BTC, I don't think is that big of deal, but in the 100s and 1000s, and definitely millions...you don't share that info with the general public

Looks like we can ignore just about anyone stating they own more than 1 million bitcoins. Perhaps the remaining numbers are more accurate in that the liars may tend to enjoy the opportunity to exaggerate.

I don't think it's a good idea to tell anyone, let alone strangers on the internet, how many bitcoins you have. That's like putting a target on your back for the hackers and scammers.

I can understand why kids or poor people might have trouble acquiring a bitcoin, but for everyone else, is it that hard to save $250?

I very agree with you. There is a shortage on the bitcoin market, more specifically on the bitcoin labour market.

The only way to get yourself big bitcoins is to either buy them or to steal them.

The other labour ways like sig campaign, faucets, and casinos pay a lot less, unless you run them. So most of the people earn alot less bitcoins.

So yes i think in the future earning 2000-3000 satoshi from a faucet wil be like working 1 minute at your current dayjob, and the equivalent will be paid.

From perusing these types of threads in earlier days, it always surprised me how few most people had when they were sub $5 and how impressed others were when someone admitted to having a few hundred dollars' worth.

It's still a risk now and when it comes to money most are staggeringly conservative. The people who throw money around with abandon are often indebted up to their tits and will never have $250 going truly spare.

I've reached my goal of 21 coins, a nice magical number imo.

Each day i check the latest BTC news on reddit, Blockchain, Coindesk, Bitcointalk etc, very tempted to buy more, price is not relevant only infrastructure/growth and that seems pretty much ok.

Bitcoin gives me a feeling of wealth, no matter the actual amount. Like other people I'm buying more and more.

My goal is to keep buying till I have 50BTC in cold storage. With Current price it is very tempting.

Yes, it is what I noticed too. Bitcoin wealth is quite centralized unfortunately. Not as much as in real world but well, differences are still overwhelming. I am also just another poor idealistic bitcoin user with just dus in his wallet...

The idea of "bitcoin wealth" is absurd. There is no corresponding idea of "dollar wealth" or "euro wealth". Is it a problem that Albanian lek wealth is centralized? Does it bother you that nearly 100% of the 340 billion leks are held by less than 0.04% of the population?

Honestly speaking i have only 6 bitcoins with me at present. But i am positive enough that in future i can have much more bitcoins in my wallet. As i know its a future the more you have the more richer you are i am just a beginner at present but hopefully i will make best out of it.

I own less the 5 bitcoins Is it good to have less then 5 or not?? I mean definitely it is not a big amount but to start off is it profitable?? Would plan to buy in future if Prices goes down but i don't think that prices will be down it's gonna increase more and more.

Obviously you won't get anything from the pool. There are already 22 people answering having owned more than 1 million bitcoins and that amounts to 22 million versus the current supply right now at 14 million. Oh well, here's mine. Still less than 10 but getting close.

Usually, I don't tell people how many coins I have, nor when I started collecting them. It is really noones business to know.

You dont need to but anonymously you could just to measure statistically this. When filling out anonymous survey, its made to analyze the data, and not to spy on people individually.

Yeah, I heard that there may rob you off your bitcoin wallet if you have a significant amount of Bitcoins, but somehow I am not really afraid of that.  :)

Less then 1Bitcoin, because i just know about bitcoin this year, not last year that the price of bitcoin still high  :'(. But i think i will get 1bitcoin soon this year by using signature campaign and do some task that give us bitcoin.

What make you so sure that bitcoin users have just 1 btc or less? I think there are many people having more than 1 btc in their own wallet and that is from 1 wallet. There are some people saving their bitcoin in others wallet too so I dont think most of them is just got 1 btc or less

To add 1 more valid reason on why most people have less than 1 BTC is that because the value of it is declining each time. Saving alot will resulted as a loss in term of fiat. Truly this doesnt stand as a reason to the bitcoin believer but this is one of the valid reason on why people are using as a trading investment rather than saving it

I don't have much btc at all but I own other currencies that I can exchange easily into BTC which would probably amount to around 15 btc worth at the current time, not a lot really.

And why dont you invest your other currencies that you won to bitcoin? And start to earn with bitcoin? Its a promising invesment for this time and I think you can earn a lot when you convert in it because its like when you got profit it will be 15 times more than you play 1 btc

I hold 50 BTC at a moment but honestly speaking i am not in profit and i m in loss so if the prices goes up i would definitely choose to sell it out and diversify my investment to some other product and in future if prices lowers down again i would prefer to go for bitcoins again.

They don't. You can't accept this poll as real numbers. Most of the community hide their Bitcoin stash, as normal. Money is private.

It would be ridiculous if i disclose how much bitcoins i hold. I would say that its better not to disclose as there are scammers waiting for us to disclose the real information so that they can hack and earn money out of it. So i believe its an stupid idea to share anything.

There are tons of people with shitons of BTC from back in the day whose forgot they even hold them and recovered them after they say BTC on the news. The thing is, it's impossible that 22 people have 1,000,000 BTC... that's just silly.

That's True. No need to disclose the number of bitcoins you hold. Just Enjoy the ride..But make sure that if you invest or trade that would be in the safest way. Beware of scammers who are looking for the information of your bitcoins. Easy to hack the account nowadays.

You're probably right but there's no real way of knowing. Some very established posters often casually mention having tiny overall amounts.

Yes its true if you got like 100 bitcoin its look cool but I think you heart must be beat faster scare that if one day the price suddenly go down and you will got nothing. May be they just think like that scare to lose that much so they just convert it into their own currency

If your target is to having this 30-50 bitcoin only from buying I guess that is quite easy to get but its better for you to play a lot of trading, signature campaign, gambling or anything that can increase your own bitcoin without spend your own fiat. You can do saving and investing both of it so it will be like hit 2 birds with 1 rock  ;D

Sig campaigns yes. Trading is best left to those with wills of iron and years of experience. Trying to make money out of gambling is an overwhelmingly pisspoor idea.

Yes this is only from buying. I am not a gambler as such so I believe that would be a bad choice for me.

Trading I am not experienced with either. I earn a pretty good living so in my situation I'll leave the gambling to the lucky ones and the trading to the experiences ones with more time than myself.

I'm sure a lot of people tell me I am mad but I'll keep buying when I can until I reach my goal ......or it gets to expensive to stack anymore.

Why does it matter? OP should remove the year date as the question is not time or year related.

You can learn trading and there are so many people will guide you in the right path. If you just buying like this you will waste all your fiat and it is good when the price go higher your value is raise too but how about if the price is drop? You are just wasting your money right? So better you stop spending your fiat and try to learn about trading

there are numerous free online guide, don't pay anyone for it, but you also need in the end some serious experience, that can only be acquired on the field, and because of this you will lose a good amount at the beginning for sure, if you are willing to do all that then you are ready to trade

but only afford what you can lose

it's better to reach your goal(how many bitcoin you want) by accumulating slowly with risk free methods, imho

I own some BTC15 as of now, after converting some BTC10 to fiat during the last few weeks. Started collecting them in 2012, when the coins were dirt cheap. But lost a major part of my stash in some scams. And now I am neck deep in debt, so I need to convert a part of my coins to fiat. In the next few weeks, I might covert a few more of my coins to fiat.

There a infinite of source out there and there is so many free online guide that is useful like amph said and you need to be active in this forum too to get some useful source. Just searching for everthing that correspond to bitcoin and if you are not understand you can make your own thread and asking for help in this forum. I think in this forum everybody want to help since they got paid too by signature campaingn  ;D

Most people selling TA advice are making a living from those e-books, speeches courses or whatever, rather than by doing TA themselves, that's the catch.

Its really difficult to trust someone here over the internet. So it is better not to reveal the secret that how much bitcoin do i hold?? As the scammers are waiting for the valuable information like this so that they can have gateway to have a scam and cheat the innocent people.

I complety agree with you there is nothing wrong in sharing the secrets with bitcoin community  :) as we are facing some issues related to bitcoins from so called people we need to increase the population of bitcoin community and also the bitcoin and need to prove that we are at the right place.

If I remember rightly BTer was hacked and thousands of BTC were lost because the guy running it used the same password for his email as that site's servers.

All a good hacker needs is one small clue and if you're a bit slack elsewhere they might find an in. Over a period of months or years on here you might reveal a lot of info about your other online activities.

OMG, that is very amateur from his part. He is running an exchange and he uses the same passwords?

I use separate passwords for all my websites which are 25-30 character random strings.

Plenty of bitcoiners are probably guilty of being a bit lazy with internet security elsewhere. Sometimes it feels like too much hassle and then you're hacked and then suddenly it's, er, not.

Lazyness it not that bad, it makes you do always the shortest thing with the less efort involved.

But when it comes to money, then maximum discipline is required, there is just no other way around it, there is a such high demand for money that anyone can/will steal it on the slightest occasion it will get , so keeping the money on secure places / discipline is the only option to stay safe.

I agree when it comes to saving our own money the great level of discipline is required. and if you are not disciplined enough in keeping your money safe then it's an open invitation to thieves,scammers etc who are just waiting for this opportunity to just take away everything from you.

I think that is matter of luck, when the thieves is going to scam you or may be want to get all your bitcoin they must find a good ways to  get it, altough you have a good dicipline and you put your bitcoin in a high level of security if just one mistake your coin will gone forever. So its better watchout from a good promises investment

Up your activity, sign up for a sig campaign and you could have that whole coin and more in a few weeks/ months.

All things will need a process, if you want to own 1 BTC you should do a lot of work in order to get your bitcoin, try to buy higher account and applying in a signature campaign that pays a lot, then do trading often to get some profit and if you feel lucky you can try gambling just to try your luck. You can earn every bitcoin in many ways if you want

What do you do for work? Can you not save a small amount each week to buy some btc?

The truth is the majority of people out there can't save enough money, you are privileged if you are in the 1+ BTC club. I hope everyone gets as much as possible during this god gifted period of low price, and hope it lasts before moon time begins.

I have been here awhile and have only managed to get me a bag of around 10btc bit more if I count the other alt bags, I have yet to find a decent btc making strategy alts drain me. I do try think of businesses to start up, then I get carried away with real life and that gets postponed another few weeks until something else comes up it is a vicious cycle. So I will just work as I have and buy in until I get the time to build something bitcoin related for the future. 

10 coins is a fine haul to own.

I dicked around with alts too and can no longer be bothered with them. Unless you get right in on the ground floor, which I have a couple of times, it's worse than gambling. The game isn't just rigged, it'll actively chase you down and kick you until you're dead.

Signature campaigns are the most dependable source of BTC. It's a pretty modest trickle much of the time but it carries on trickling and there's zero risk. We're still a long way from having a decent record in BTC 'investment', if ever.

The freedom of movement of the bitcoin value will seek to even out differences in income in different areas of the world. So if someone lives in a one dollar per day general invome  economy, bitcoin will come to rescue. The remaining difference will be the level of violence from the governments in each area.

Just like the telephone receptionist in india, a single entrepreneurial person in Gaza could possibly function as a telephone watch for some shop owner in Amsterdam, while he is out on conventions to replenish his shop with wares. A telephone, bitcoin, and some knowledge about the business should be enough. Maybe they are friends or family from way back.

Nope, I dont think you are the poorest here because there are so many people out there or may be inside this forum that got less than 1 bitcoin, for example like me. I only got the income from sig campaign and until now I just collected around 0.3 bitcoin. So who are the poorest now?  ;D

This month, I converted 9 of my coins to fiat (almost half of my Bitcoin stash). One of my loans was due for repayment and I was running out of cash. So I had to finally gave up half of my hard earned coins.  ??? I am still in five-figure debt, but not planning to sell any more of my coins in the near future.

8% owning over 100 coins back in 2014, nice.  Probably a little higher % now since the price has come down maybe.

I haven't used my bitcoins yet in any restaurant or shopping.

Whenever I am short off cash I sell my part of bitcoins and converted it into my local currency to take care of day to day expenses like paying bills,electricity expenses etc. And I dont own big amount of bitcoins but really satisfied that its helping me out when I am short off cash.  ;D

I swear its like a war to keep a positive balance, due to misc things. Lack of understanding how to back up a dat file, losing your balance or other misc hack attempts.

There are no people can predict the future that bitcoin price will going this high so some of them must left bitcoin before the price is going that high because there are too many bad issue about bitcoin before so many of them left this bitcoin community and start to find another job that can pay them higher than this bitcoin price at that time

I know plenty of first world folks who wouldn't be able to spare that type of money for something that isn't of immediate benefit to them. Huge numbers of people are out of cash before the end of the month.

I agree that there are a lot of people that should not be holding substantial amounts of BTC because of the risk. However, ...

In general, someone who supports themself but cannot save $20 a month is living beyond their means. Those huge numbers of people would be in much better shape if they would lower their standard of living and save at least a small amount of money each month.

Altough bitcoin has a high risk but there are some people that invest a lot in bitcoin and they hold may be up to 50 bitcoin. They dont even care about the movement of market and I think they will cash out when they really need it and urgent
