So what exactly is "suspicious"? Seems like a pretty broad umbrella that enables you to hold cash if you so choose.

The right to hold suspicious deposits is simply to comply with federal law. We will ONLY hold a deposit if we are filing a suspicious transaction report with FinCEN. Financial reporting is taken very seriously and is not something that can simply be thrown around as an excuse.

Thanks CoinRnr!  I usually don't write reviews unless I am very pleased or very disappointed.  Since this is such a new (and in the BTC world therefore risky) service, I felt it was my duty to report on my transaction.

I actually came across your site when I saw a listing of yours on localbitcoins (TerryCoin?).  I was about to make a purchase but you took the listing down just before I was able to submit it.  I was a bit disappointed until I saw the link to your site.

1) I submitted my purchase info (email address, BTC address, how much to buy, etc.)
2) I went to the bank and made a deposit (using an out of state deposit slip)
3) I scanned and uploaded the receipt with my order number written on it.

After uploading the receipt I went to fill a glass of water.  When I got back, the transaction was already submitted to the BTC network!  I personally don't care about super fast service (since I wasn't spending them immediately), but I know that this is very important for many people, so for those that do care, it was very fast!  CoinRnr claims to send within 15 minutes, but I think I got mine in less than 1.

(Sorry if my "Cons" seem overly critical, but I wanted to find at least 5 things for each category and, to be honest, was a little hard. :P)

Pros:

• Easy to use and friendly UI
• Well written and easy to follow instructions
• No ID required (at least at my bank)
• 5% premium over Bitstamp (I believe this is what it came to on my order.)
• Small but very reasonable window of time to drive to the bank

--Overall, very good!--

Cons:

• Small hassle of having to scan/photograph a receipt (This is not a big deal to me whatsoever, but it's merely a note to those that find it inconvenient)
• Via Terms: "We reserve the right to cancel any transaction at any time prior to the release of bitcoin."  This is a policy that I do not like for one simple reason.  If the price goes up, are able to cancel a transaction with this clause.
• Via Terms: "In accordance with these policies, CoinRnr reserves the right to hold payments that appear suspicious until a suspicious activity report has been filed and cleared with law enforcement."  This has been addressed above in prior comments.  If this is in fact simply a requirement of AML/KYC, then there isn't really anything we can do about it.
• Lack of an escrow account on a 3rd party.
• New service with almost no known reputation. (Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.  That being said, everyone has to start this way!)

Thanks for the suggestion! At this time we are looking in to adding Chase, PNC, and Citibank. There are no chase/citibank in NC where we are located, so we are going to have to take a trip to open those. When we get some time we will put together a bigger banking network to try to include everyone. We are also considering working with some credit unions via the shared branching co-op.

If you have PNC branches, that would be the fastest way to reach into our area. :)
I use UK Federal Credit Union for one of my checking accounts, so that would be a wonderful addition if they are part of the shared branching co-op. They've got 3 branches in 3 corners of Lexington which is pretty convenient for many. I'll keep an eye on this thread for updates as you penetrate and find a convenient way for us out here to do business. :)

Look good however the price difference seems pretty big. You only pay someone 792 a coin but they have to pay 840. Bitstamp right now is at 800. So that is roughly a 5% markup which is pretty significant  especially if you add transaction fees on top of this.

I understand your concern with the markup. As we add our transaction fee, we will do our best to try to adjust our price in a way that keeps it fair. We understand that there are ways to acquire bitcoin with less markup but not with the speed and support that our service offers.

Anyways, I would love to use your service, but like many others, there are none of those banks nearby. The closest BofA to me is 3 hours. I have this same problem with localbitcoins.

I am asking you to consider how many people are in the same boat.  Please consider expanding to Peoples United, TD bank, and/or Key bank.

Coin RNR is an excellent service. I have done 7 transactions with them so far, and 6 have worked amazingly well with the 7th one placed today in the works. Mazin talked me through my first order via the chat feature, and since then has been very responsive to questions and other support needs. You definitely get to interact with the human being on the other side of the site which is very reassuring considering what has been going on with other Bitcoin sites.

I learned about Coin RNR right about the time Camp BX announced it would no longer be processing ACH transfers directly to a bank, so I needed an alternative service, so the timing of launch couldn't have been better for me.

Coin RNR doesn't have all the features of an exchange, so you compromise a little on price, but that is more than made up for in speed of delivery. I'm usually not in any big hurry to trade my Bitcoin into fiat, but I do appreciate the speed here because I really like to minimize the amount of time my funds are tied up in an online service. I really appreciate the fast in and out. I send my Bitcoin and within an hour I get the email informing me that my bank transfer is on its way.

Its a little bit of a hassle to some folks who are computer savvy to upload scans etc to the website so Im sure its a bit intimidating to those who aren't computer savvy lol! I very rarely write reviews for any service, regardless of my experience, and when I do it's because one of two polar opposite experiences needs to be shared - for the sake of community..  i.e. the next potential sucker, or satisfied consumer. Suffice it to say, fortunately, this is to show my appreciation for a service that I have used time and time again and have been extremely satisfied with what I've been provided, both on a personal/customer service level, and of course, in regards to the product. CoinRNR, for me, is one of the best options for procuring btc right now living stateside. I suppose I could send SEPA transfers or do something similiar for btc-e/bitstamp and wait it out to buy at spot or vett the sellers on lbc til I found an honest, consistent, fairly priced somebody I could meet locally (hasn't happened). Otherwise, I can pay 6%ish up from bitstamp, walk into a bank lay  down a deposit and within 15 minutes, usually less, have my coin and not a worry in the world regarding the sequence.

Another crucial aspect of their (CoinRnr's) success, in my mind, is their customer service..aka..Mazin. This guy is a beast, he's online pretty much at any time willing to iron out some details or clear up confusion and fuzziness. I've never detected a speck of sarcasm or a condescending tenor in any of our correspondence, even though there have been more than one time where I've deposited the wrong amount, accidentally omitting the processing fee. Bottom line for me is that there's always someone on the other end to let you know the status of things or to provide a measure of peace of mind, and that matters to me, especially when dealing with money, and potentially not little amounts.

For what it is - which is an extremely consistent, fairly priced, simple process.. to procure a somewhat obscure product/service which is backed by integrity amidst a much larger collection of unsavory options including, but not limited to: scammers, thieves, pseudo-escrow 'trades', and etc..CoinRnr will continue to me one of my first options. They've proven themselves to be reliable and honest in a microcosm that is, unfortunately, a massive bullseye for your unbecoming traits/individuals.

Do you accept American Express or only Visa and MasterCard?

This is not listed anywhere, and you need to go through the complete verification process to get to the Buy screen in order to find out.  I recommend adding this information to your website in a place visible without registration and verification.

How does the verification process work? What info do you need?

During registration you'll need to provide name, email address, billing address, date of birth, and a phone number.

Verification consists of verifying with a third party; either Netverify or miiCard. Netverify allows you to upload your ID with your webcam and miiCard verifies you through your financial institution.

Great service but I think not being registered with the state of North Carolina as a MSB is going to cost you your business and investments. The Gov is no longer watching to see if people will comply they are forcing people to comply. Paypal had the same problems when they first started and had to go state by state to get the MSB, green dot when through the same process.

Next time CoinRNR is in a gas station in NC I suggest he looks at the door and see that they even had to register with NC as a MSB just to sell green dot and other stored value.
The Federal MSB does not protect you from each state, you are in violation of each state that requires MSB if you accept payments from the customers in that state. So you could be charged by each state you accept payments as being a unlicensed MSB/MT

I'm familiar with the MTA in NC. I don't, however, agree with you that what we are providing is 'stored value' or a 'payment instrument' and therefor our activities are not money transmission by the NC definition. Without further clarity from state level regulators (honestly, the only state really to provide true clarity on bitcoin money transmission licensing thus far has been Texas), it's impossible to assume how they will define bitcoin in their laws. If a state were to follow in the footsteps of the IRS for example, and declare bitcoin as property, none of the current money transmitter laws would apply. We do not hold customer funds nor do we do not conduct remittances. Instead, we only provide a retail USD to bitcoin transaction with verified individuals (no 3rd parties) who adhere to strict transaction limitations. Gas stations offering prepaid cards, western union, or other money transmissions, are of course required to be licensed as is any check casher or exchanger of foreign currency.

Might want to hire a lawyer who keeps you informed. NC Sees as Bitcoin exactly like this "'electronic form of monetary value" Pay pal is a electronic form of monetary value.. AKA stored value.

I have been talking with the banking dept in every state, think you might want to do the same before the agents come knocking on your door.

What happens if they make a deposit and all your bank accounts get frozen and seized for illegal MSB/MT? Think it is something you should address and customers should be aware of. The federal MSB does not save you from the states and vice versa, the states do not save you from the feds.

We are familiar with this consumer alert and keep in contact with multiple attorneys though we do appreciate your concern.
