This seems pretty sketchy at best. I highly doubt a regulated and public company like Facebook is going to be doing this or anything similar. I don't think there's much of a legal framework for them to take this approach at all with an actual crypto. Also, what would be the advantage for them to do that when they can just create any kind of centralized play currency to have people use on their system?

Interesting news, I would have taken part in it. In my opinion, this will be a profitable and promising project. If there is no special profit, then on the HYIP, they will clearly earn some of that money.

This will be great for crypto if this will happen. We all know that  majoirty of the people are using facebook and they are most likely to invest on facecoin than any other investment because that is how they trust the platform. Interesting news but I'm not sure how truthful it is. To have its own crypto currency face coin would be very comfortable for Facebook and its users. It would be easier to pay with this currency for the purchases made on Facebook or pay for their services. Let's see will Facebook crypto will ever appear and how successful it will be.

Facebook has never revealed that much about their plans and they have just started. they are looking into blockchain technology and they may not use it to create a token/coin they may instead use it to create a platform using blockchain aka the ledger.

but i say there is a very good chance that all of this is just a rumor created by these click-bait news sites. they are well known for doing things like this. they make up stories and then it goes viral when every other smaller news sties copies their news.

I think It is a good news. The big companies should accept or create crypto. Because It is the future technology. No one can refuse the technology.

Them moving into moving money is an obvious step if Apple and Google are already at it. There's no more compelling way of keeping people locked to your platform. I don't see how or why they'd step beyond at most a token of some sort in partnership with the usual banks or card processors.

that may be. but i can't help but feel like creating a new coin by any of these big companies is not going to end well. i mean who is going to use "FaceCoin" "GoogleCoin", etc when there is fiat and bitcoin for centralized and decentralized option.

Well its already expected, Mac Zuckerberg announced earlier this year that one of the things he intends learning this year is Blockchain Technology. So we are expecting him to make it public on what he is trying to release. But i don't think that Facecoin has any relationship with Facebook those are different projects. They should call it a deface coin, or spy coin. Facebook had so many issues with leaks and hacks that it's not a safe currency issuer. I wouldn't trust them with my money. They would probably sell my data to the highest bidder, like they're doing to all their clients. CIA coin  >:(

Easy to imagine, what with their billion plus userbase, and the amount of activity going on at their platform. But, it's difficult in practice. Also, they tried something similar way back in time, and it was a dud.

Just as Google spectacularly flopped at social media with Google+, I think Facebook will face a similar problem if and when it decides to dabble in cryptocurrency.

If this is true, I don't think facebook need to launch an ICO for their coins. They don't need any fund raising, their project is a finished product. Facebook would probably sell their tokens as a virtual chips, eventhough I think it would be nice if Facebook learn from Steemit.

Seems to be very sketchy. I don't know if Facebook will really get benefits of having their own coin because they are not a retail sites like Amazon, they are social media, and they should put huge amount of their budget on privacy and not on project like having their own coins which will not be beneficial for any of their 2 billion user.

I'm not sure of the legitimacy of this supposed news of facebook's own coin but like other members here I highly doubt this one. Not too long ago, facebook banned the advertisements of any ICOs, if you can recall. Which clearly gave a hint, if not a direct statement, that they aren't too keen on being involved in blockchain. So it doesn't really add up to me how this kind of news will spread.
