I believe PUNDI X will be one of the best projects to hold for the next two to three years as it is very near in fulfilling the first orders of its XPOS machines. You are not thinking about the market in right direction. Its actually in perfect condition mate and if you want to buy nice portfolio then this is the right time as all the crypto currencies are down in the value currently. You have to see it as investment opportunity and not the bad market fall. For now there re few selected coins who are performing well in the developing of their project like IOST, EOS, ADA, MONERO, ETH and SCL. This should be in your portfolio for all the good reason. These alts will surely be 5x in the coming years and if you are not in hurry then I would say hold them until next year too.

If you going to hold for long terms then obviously watch out for the big project with real applications in the market. One of the project that I know doing everything seamlessly is REMME coin. if you don't have enough knowledge how to buy a good coin then i suggest to make some research always before buying and holding for long term , because most token nowadays always turn to shitcoin after months or after ico ends , so don't rely on others thoughts about the project , instead put more effort to make technical analysis on it to assure you're in a good coin.  Such white paper of the project,  sites and etc where you can obtain more information behind the project.

holding is not a good idea when it comes to a high risk asset like altcoins. when you want to do a long term investment which is the right word for HODL then you need to first assess the risks and if they were reasonably low enough then you invest. of course it is also about the reward you gain by taking this risk too.

for example the reason i am a BitcoinHodler is that my assessment of bitcoin risk/reward is that although the risk is high but it is still reasonable and a lot lower than the risk of altcoins. meanwhile the reward is high enough to not only justify the risk but also create enough incentive to choose bitcoin over anything else.

if you really can find the same circumstances in an altcoin then do it. otherwise it is not wise to just take risks blindly.

Right now everything is on discount and no one knows if the discount will get smaller or greater next month. But there a few good picks nonetheless, especially Electra, Pareto, Oyster shell, and don't forget Oyster Pearl that just launched their main net while the price is on an all time low, completely without any reason as far I understand and it will not last for long.

I have few coins in my portfolio and been hodling them for a while now, for me the best altcoin and reliable to give profit for long term hold is eth because its a well established coin like btc and proven to be profitable if you invest in it. I also have neo, iota, ripple and iost, some users chose to invest to popular coins like in the top 20 in coinmarketcap to make sure it wont get delisted in exchange sooner.

Checked the pages of this thread, most of these replies are saying ethereum but I don't see people holding ETH. I think  I bought my last money  to  buy about 24 ETH which its  price  was $432, that was weeks ago but I end up losing because the rest panic. I guess I just have to  forget those ETH and move on for now.

If you are to hold  your coins for a very long time,  why not just invest to a cheap coins worth just cents like verge or bytecoin, you don't have to invest big but wait  for years.

Ethereum is good investment for long-term but due to their slower developments we are facing network clogging & huge traffics due to scallability issues, so the chances are their new players can take over some portion the ethereum market. IMO its better to diversify investment portfolios with other blockchain projects like NEO, XLM, ZIL, NEM, IOST, QKC, TRX & ICON etc for long-term investments. No doubt bitcoin is the top currency and holding is profitable, but here the question is about Altcoin, and I think that there are two coins which are my favorite for long term investment, Ethereum and ripple. These coins hold top position in the market and are fast growing especially ripple. A little bit increase in the price will give you big profit. 

In my view, litecoin is the coin worth holding from the long-term perspective. It is effectively bitcoin on juice or what bitcoin should have been right from the beginning. As it is unlikely that things are going to change in this space soon if ever, litecoin will remain a widespread payment tool for its simplicity, fast and cheap transactions, pervasiveness. It is unlikely either that people will  be using bitcoin for their daily needs but litecoin fits in here quite nicely if you ask me.

Maybe there are other altcoins worth holing long-term but I'm not aware of them. If only dogecoin - for the fun of it.

For me i'm gonna choose the top 10 in coinmarket cap because i believe their popularity to the investors that is why their prices was easier to high in the market but before you pick that altcoins be sure research it first to avoid lossing your capital.
