Title: Should I cash out and take the loss?
Post by: Cryptocucumber on June 09, 2018, 05:58:45 PM
At the beginning of the year I got into cryptocurrency think I would make a lot of money if I did a ton of research and learned everything about crypto. So I bought $4k worth of bpt and prl. I would say my stack is worth about $1000 now with a 75% loss. Everybody on this forum talked so highly of those coins thinking it would sky rocket one day but they are just getting so low that I know I will never get my money back & I don't want to lose it all. I guess I'm here to say don't trust anybody on this forum that thinks they know what a good coin is and most differently DONT trust any future "10x coin" on here. Truth is this is mostly a game of luck. I'm out, cashing out so I don't lose everything!

Don't cash out. If there's one thing that remains constant about crypto, it's "You never loss until you cash out". Check BTC's history. It's had so many numerous crashes and death knell that you'd wonder just how many lives it has.
Don't cash out.

I guess you have invested in cryptocurrency out of FOMO and invest during the peak. Take note that cryptocurrency price is difficult to speculate that even TA is not that reliable, anything can happen, price can either decrease a lot or even increase a lot any time. Let this be a good experience for you, and learn from it. If you can be patient just hold your investment and wait for the market to recover.

For me, altcoin far more riskier than btc because totally unpredictable. So before decide to invest on altcoin, make sure that they have stable and cooperative community.
If you believe it will increase in the future, you can just HOLD it but if you can afford to loss, cut loss become the wise solution !

the gold rule in the crypto it's not invest more than you can afford , why?
Because if price drop like what happen now you can forgot about your investement for one year or 2 or even 5 years for potential profit

Never ever sell your assets at losses, not unless you badly need your money. If you can be patient just hold and be patient. The market will not be in a bad shape forever and it will recover some time soon. Just be patient, patience is one of the key in crypto to earn well.

The fact that you blindly trusted people here on this forum was a YUGE mistake. Why would you ever trust strangers on the internet? They will most likely never have your best interests at heart. Now that is aside, focus on what you can control now and that is either holding your coins or selling them. Do some research and see if they have a chance of making a comeback and assess it. It sucks you entered in at the peak time in the market though, because if you had grabbed PRL in early December you would have made a killing (had you sold of course).

That is completely okay man. You are not the only one. I too have been on the other end of this trade misinformation. So many times I ended up investing in the wrong coins which made me lose thousands of dollars.
This is the main reason why I cash out the moment I make 15-20% profit or 10% loss. It really feels sad and dreadful to see all the money go down the drain and whales playing with it. The worst feeling in the world.

I suggest you take the risk to be honest I'm holding a bunch of prl as well, since we already lost a lot then why not we continue to hold and put more faith in our tokens, whether the value recovers or not, lets continue holding and hope that it will rise.

it is too late to cash out now because there is tendency that it might pump at any time. you would have activated your stop loss at about 2% from buying price. its late now just hodl.

Prices for many assets are reduced by large players to buy as much as possible. Big players need you now with the your equivalent of $1000. Sell your tokens and give them your 3000 dollars. Rid yourself of suffering, and make a charity to the already wealthy players of the market ;D ;D ;D

Maybe this time you'll realize that listening to any speculations about a certain coin isnt the right thing to do in crypto, here's what you need to do before investing in any coins out there, check their platforms, their objectives, their team, their community and their possible potential in the future, in this way you can possibly predict if that coin is certified a 10x coin.

Well I must say one thing that no one have forced you to buy these coins. Obviously it is your money and you have the right to spend this anywhere you want. So listen to everyone and do it with your mind. Research properly before buying and selling anything. Let me tell you one example there is token called HBZ,
Company was advertising so much about their project and token as well. The price of token was 0.15$ during ICO. As usual everyone from the team and members from the telegram group were saying, "HBZ to the moon". Company team was of view that they will list their token on exchange soon and the listing price will be 0.001ETH, again everyone in the telegram group was saying to the moon , to the moon. You know what happened actually. HBZ price after listing on exchange was 0.0001 ETH instead of 0.001ETH per token but  again in this situation they were saying that soon they will list on top 10 and top 5 exchange and price will be good. Hold Hold was slogan everywhere. Now it's on top 10 exchange after 2 months and the price is 0.00001ETH per token. So always there is a lesson to learn.

Your first try is two unknown tokens and that makes you so disappointed and makes you to quit? Don’t trust x10 is good lesson, but I suggest you to try more. You shall have some top coins in your portfolio. That’s your second lesson.

If you do cash out, it mean you loss. But if you still holding, it still there for you. Be strong, man.
And a recommendation, NEVER follow the hyped, do own research by yourself, don't research by all others and community.
Some people trade with a strategy that sell a dip and buy more at dipper, its too risky for new trader, so all I can tell you, is HODL. Forget about it, you already loss, so $3,000 or $4,000, its not much different.
Keep HODL, man

Never ask anyone which coin is best or will be good for long term investment. He will tell you coin of his choice or the one he is holding.
You shouldn't have jumped with 4k straight away if you don't have sound knowledge of crypto trading. It's not as simple as it looks from outside.
One more thing, you invested in Jan 2018 when market was taking correction after 2017 enormous boom and was still high. Never invest in market when it's at it's peak

I follow the same 2 coins you've mentioned.

BPT has a release coming out next month and has currently got good support at 2600 sats, even with it's volume at an all time low it held above this mark, the whole market right now has terrible volume and once it starts to pick back up, along with the release coming we should see 3500 sat again for this, selling it now = absolute bottom price you'll get for it.

PRL also bottomed out at 3000 sat before the BTC dip and started to climb back up to 4000 sat before we had this market drop, even in this current situation it's support is strong at 2850 sat, selling now would also mean absolute bottom, I expect this to go up to 4000 again once the market picks back up.

Selling now = bottom for your alts and bottom for BTC, it wouldn't be a wise move at all.

The 2 coins mentioned have increased in volume today as has BTC, these are positive signs that things should recover.

My advice, if you've absolutely had enough just give it another 2 weeks, but even this wouldn't be wise, markets do this when bearish and usually after 5+ dips people begin to lose hope and start selling at a loss, 7 drops would usually have the market flushed out and things start to increase again.

The types who sell at a loss will almost be flushed out now and those who are remaining purchased at prices greater than we see now, the end result is people stop selling and prices start to climb again.

it's a psychological battle of weak hands, the longer we hold at low prices the less people with weak hands that remain, this is why markets always pick up after long downs.

I looked up Prl on coinmarketcap:

https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/oyster/#markets

It's only on three exchanges and the volume traded is pitiful. I'd sell 90% of teh coins, keep a few just in case there is a pump. But unless these coins can increase their trading volume and get onto the larger exchanges, it's likely they will go no-where.

Obviously do your own research - if there is evidence that they'll get listed on more exchanges, then hold on.

Why don't you invest in upcoming ICOs with good potential? that way you don't have to take the loss straight away and you will still have a chance of recovering. There are interesting tokens such as Aethion and Menlo One which are by far the best choices imo.   This interview with Menlo's CEO helps shed some light on what the token is used for and how it will change the way we view ICOs https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=884&v=Rw1QBpBYE6o

If you have patience definitely you will make profits but with the present bearish market everything, one is thinking same. People who have patience will always make good profits but in a downtrend, it is always good to buy in this downward trend.

I would advise to look at the long term charts. Yes, since the ATH of early January we have seen a drop, but the longer term trend is still upwards. The Dec/Jan rise was too far too fast, and the fact that this rise was so huge without any levelling off period meant that when it overshot and the inevitable pullback began, no-one knew where the stable point would be - there had been no consolidation at a stable price point since before the rise began. Finally we hit solid resistance at around $250 billion for the whole market. There was then a bounce back upwards, followed by another dip - but I think a lot of people can agree now that price drops will experience huge resistance around $250 billion. This would suggest that if you cash out now, you are cashing out near the bottom. I think we have stabilised now and price rises will come sooner rather than later.

As you say though, we are all guessing, and other people doubtless have differing perspectives.

I think it is better you still hold your coin and not cash out because cashing out will be a big loss and you can still make profit if only you can be more patient and wait for the market to recover and the price of crypto begin to rise. This bearish is only for a short period and will recover soon.

I was in your position in 2016, I did have several cryptos, unfortunately my $4000 turned into $1000 after some unsuccessful trades and dumps, and I have cashed out just like you are planning to. At the end of 2017 these tokens were worth $250k. I have saved $1000 just to lose quarter of a million 2 years later. I would not touch anything if I were you, just forget about it for some time.

when you get stuck in buying altcoins at a high price and now the coins you buy go down, do not ever say you will sell your losses of up to 75%, I suggest never sell them, if you still have more money you can buy them at a price down as it is today, and suppose the coins you buy in accordance with your research have a hope of raise prices again, you are still expecting a big profit, and in this forum you do not have to believe what people say, because here people can only give solutions and can only analyze, so you must have your own initiative whether you want to buy it or not, it depends on your decision.

A sad reality of trusting someone with your investment because it can be full of hype. Its sad that you made a lot of research and yet fall into shit coins. If you just bought bitcoin for sure it is still possible to bring back your loss, but its altcoin so I think cashing out can be a good option and invest that little money to bitcoin.

for me your decision to go out is a big loss, because 75% of the loss you experience, in my opinion, the best decision is to wait, because although the money even if it will add to the loss for you, I am sure the coin will not always is under, wait for the coins to go up, you just sell, I also have PRL, and I sell I have a 50% profit, here is my experience of this coin

There is one value that almost all legendary on this platform preach, and that is patience. Im very young in crypto as well but for the few days that Ive been here, I have seen it countless times where experienced investors in a way caution us to invest as much as we can afford to lose and again exercise patience in situations like this. You have lost huge amount already and I think waiting a little while will be the best.

If you did your research and analyze closely what your getting in to then you should've anticipate why the market value of the coin you invested is currently low. Before investing and when this happens i always go back to the basic, with that very importantly INVEST WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD TO LOOSE. This is not a game of luck my friend your not betting in a casino here this is cyrpto currency where knowledge and information is important. if i am in your spot i would reinvest id i can or rather wait until the end of the year. Im sure you'll change your mind when we reach the last quarter of this year. But this is a great lesson right, not cheap but a good one to remember.

It doesn't a matter of believing/more believing in someone, it all depends on our personal belief. For me personally, because I still strongly believe in crypto about its development and it will be greater... I remain patient and keep holding it, whose stops in halfway... it's just a sense of worrying or afraid and lack of confidence in crypto which's still growing or still in a young age.

I don't think you should consider dumping your coins as of now. You should at least wait for the Q4 before deciding and concluding that you have lost your money. Good things may come in Q3 - Q4 and you shouldn't worry if we are at red right now. Red market is just a normal phenomenon when it comes cryptocurrency. And you should also state what coins are holding right now so the people that will read your post may know if you really have a chance of earning a profit or not.

This bloodbath days will pass and soon better days will come. Have you not triggered a stop loss from your strategy? Upon entering the crypto currency market, you should've included in your strategy a stop loss and your own target price. A loss of 70% is already on a point of no return. If you will be seeing the coins you have invested in to reach another ATH, you will be crying again for selling at a loss. My advice, buy in parts thru cost averaging method.

No this not the right time to sold, have a faith and keep on holding the bitcoin. We all now need is patience only, all are expect market will recover soon. Now the price of all coins are very low, just hold the coins for long term once the market returns automatically the price of bitcoin will increase. So dont get panic about the current fluctuations instead of that just keep hold on with patience.

Sorry to read about your loss. How i read it you bought the alts around the same time, spreading it to buys once a month would had save you here [you had bought lower or not at all seeing the price fall]
May you invest again in crypto im sure you will do way better now knowing what the risks could be.

When you get into the cryptocurrency network, it is like a do or die game. The decision is in your hands, the market always keeps you in a dilemma what needs to be done next. If you are with plans to end up the cryptocurrency investment then you can do it anytime, but you expect something good from it. Then, it's not the right time to do, just have patience all that you've invested is upon potential altcoins.

Never trust other's opinion on a coin, I'm with you there. Always do your own research. Nobody knows if a coin is going to double or 10x. Crypto is definitely a risky investment. I am currently in the negative of my investments as well. But I'm not looking to cash out.

The way I look at it, is if you believed in crypto or a project at one point, this recent bear market shouldn't hurt your belief in it. The market is very violatile. As much as it hurts right now, the market will bounce back up. right now we are probably at about as low as it could go. So personally I don't believe selling now is a good idea. If you for sure want out of cryto, at least wait for the next rebound and bounce back up.

I usually have a stop-loss limit where I pull out and take the loss. This point varies, depending on the prospects of what am holding, the market situation and sometimes purely personal situations.

Most advice against cashing out, and I also endorse that as patience is a key quality necessary in crypto.
The final decision is solely yours.

i would never cashout and take the loss , but its your own desiccion !
crypto will raise ... but the question is when and how mouch ...
give the hole thing a little more time

Common mistake of some newbie investor which they do easily believe on shills that they do heard of from other people specially that common line "Buy this coins 10-100x profits later on". These kind of lines been said for thousand times and if you arent aware then most likely you would end up on believing and purchasing on the coin they are talking to. In result? You would be a bag holder of a shitcoin for the rest of your life. Taking or accepting the loss? Its your choice but if you do still no need of money holding would be still a considerable move to make.

If you bought cryptocoin when the price is very high and the price decrease and you will lose some of your money. I suggest don't sell it or cashout it. Because until now we have a chance the price to recover and if that happen you can get baxk your capital and you will gain profit also. But it's your choice if you want to sell right now or not.

Only cash you if you severely need the money.  The market always goes through downtrends and always picks back up,m this is nothing new.

i don't think that it's a good moment to cash out, we come from a great dump during the last two weeks and the market is starting to recover just now, you would probabilly earn amost the half compared to what wou can earn if you have te patience to wait some weeks, for example i'm holding a coin that has lost the 70% from february, now it's too late to sell, i would have too many losses so i've decided to wait for the right moment for cash out

If you have that big loss nowadays that mean selling all of it will haven't got any sense, so just split it and if you need sell some part of it and other part hodl and believe that it could just come up.

By now you must have been made aware of what would be good to do now. Just hold back with all the coins you have. I understand your emergency if any, but this is not the right time to sell for profits. You can sell though if it is too emergency. Change your mind. Be patient, try to buy as many coins as you can as all coins are much cheaper and invest more splitting the capital you opt. Find out the best coins those have good growth. December would yield you returns to your investment made now.

No way you will recover.  ;D

At least we have been seeing a little spike in the bitcoin and ethereum. to take the loss will become a very bad decision. I have lost around 70% from ATH but I still hold my bitcoin and any other coin in my wallet. Because I never try to do anything with it. I try to earn more and more dividend as much as possible to recover my lost.

I think it's not worth blaming anyone. You yourself have a head on your shoulders and you can think it over. I don't know what you read and from which author. Perhaps this person believed in those coins, maybe he deceived, but the point is that you believed to stranger  and invested your money. I really do not like this type of people like you. Such people, for some reason don't want to think for themselves, they are waiting that somebody tell and show them everything, and they will only take profits. But this does not happen. In order to earn, you need to work hard. Every successful person, in order to earn, daily learns a lot of new information, analyzes the market, reads a lot of news, studies coins. If I heard about a new coin, which is highly praised, then first of all, I would learn everything about it.
Such people are not able to understand that they themselves are to blame for what is happening to them. They are looking for the guilty around. People, circumstances, the situation in the world, etc. are always to blame.
My advice to you. In order to succeed, start changing yourself. You don't need to listen to anyone, then you will not have to blame someone for your mistakes. Begin learning to trade in the crypto market, learn technical analysis, read news, read information about coins, be aware of everything and listen only to yourself. And if you can not do it, then this kind of earnings is not for you!

Don't cash out. If there's one thing that remains constant about crypto, it's "You never loss until you cash out". Check BTC's history. It's had so many numerous crashes and death knell that you'd wonder just how many lives it has.
Don't cash out.
Cash out on loss is very big mistake. Dont even do it. Its just for people who are not ready with cryptocurrency situation.
Crypto currency is normal dynamic and volatile. Volatile is the main characteristic of cryptocurrency so loss now can be back to be profit after.

Pearl is a good coin but it just happen that your timing is wrong when you buy and start to join the investments in which the Bitcoin is starting to fall early last year. Most of us really suffered the same faith that when we buy the dip but its dips more but still better you will not sell all of your coins and wait until this year would end because i believed that these coins of yours will bounce back again.

Bad idea to cash out. We are at monthly all time lows. I would wait a little.

The problem here is that you picked the wrong coins to begin with. If you really did research well you would have found that the safest means of investing in crypto would be to simply buy Bitcoin or Ethereum. You bought shitcoins which are, of course, extremely high-risk.

Absolutely you are in the wrong timing in buying coins and you can't blame people talking good about crypto which make you losing a lot. Actually, it is your decision to invest crypto and there is nothing forcing you that. Patience is the only key to save from losing, those coins that you have invested will boom soon, just wait for it.

The only way to lose your investment is if you sell all of your portfolio. It is true that the prices are down but that does not mean that the prices will not go back up again it is just a matter of patience and dedication to what you have started. Also while the prices are down I would suggest to add more in your portfolio.

I think that is why you should not invest just because you are seeing a lot of good reviews or recommendation of a certain coin. Invest at your own risk, since it is your money. If you are willing to take the loss, just cash out. If not, you can hold and wait for the market to recover. Remember that you will not incur losses as long as you are not cashing out or trading.

It seems to me that investments in this period are much more profitable than it was at the end of 2017. Therefore, if you make a purchase of coins using today's chances, then the income will be unambiguous.

I understand your desire to earn more than your friends, but this does not mean that you can get a big profit. I would recommend you to stop and wait for the market to show a good price. Wait and have patience.

Therefore, if you make a purchase of coins using today's chances, then the income will be unambiguous.
but a huge problem is the choice of a project in which you can make a profitable investment. To date, all coins are almost equal in their capabilities and only some are showing their potential.

Same observations and most people on crypto specially on early year 2017 do observe such thing too specially for those who do make such investment on early quarter and making out profits do happen on year end of 2017 and most investors believe the same trend and continue upto these days on what they do believe with ico probability on making profits but i would say its entirely different so expect outcomes wont really be the same on last years profitability.

Hi OP,
As everyone previously mentioned, NO, NO, and NO, you shouldn't sell now.
In crypto world, the golden rule is to not take your loss if it's more than 20% (except if you know exactly what you are doing).
If you take it, of course, that could a nice lesson, and a good occasion for you to learn that you shouldn't have sold your currencies.
As soon as you sold them, you are the loser. If you hold them, you are not a loser, neither a winner.

And if it can soothe your mind a little bit, lots of people in private groups are bullish about BPT and everybody agrees to say that it has lots of potential.
Of course, if you buy at 4x the actual price, it's possible that you won't be in credit at the end, but your deficit will be less than the one you would have met if you sold now.

Concerning PRL, well, I don't know nothing about it, so I won't say anything.

But I also sympathize with you, as I guess that since January, you should have seen lots of very good opportunities, and you weren't able to surf on them.
That's the game, and the pain that you can feel at the moment, is in fact the lesson that is been learned !

Wow, PRL is an outstanding and potential coinbut you've bought it likely on a pump for x10 price and that's the reason.
Remember, that PRL just finished ICO ( half a year) and such a fast growth can't be natural. Don't fix your loss, HOLD!

Prefer not doing that. That's not a good idea. Surrendering in a fight will not help you to be a winner but end up a loser. It's better to hold on to your coins, the low price that we experience today is just a part of the market since we are still dealing with currency. Patience can help you to be successful if you will wait with further development in the market. Surely it will survive the drop. They are already trying their best too in order to recover the price.

Before you dive in here in crypto world you already know what are the consequences . The volatility of the market is really real when it fall down it really go down and the pump was so slow but when it pump it will give you the profit what you want.. As what I always read and also experience you should have the PATIENCE and PERSEVERANCE  to hold and wait.

If you cash out now then you will surely lose. By cashing out you are actually turning your "paper" losses into real losses. However, if you look at the other side, by holding and staying strong, then you actual still have a chance to turn your losses into profits.

Just forget it and just hold now. Delayed gratification is always a good thing.

if you need your money,...
there is no other way than cashing out.
if not,... see it like that,... you already lost 75%,.... so how big is the chance to loose 25% more (it will not go to 0!!)
or to make some winnings from this point.

i am longer in,... but i still bought some coins after crash when market cap was around 420 mrd usd.
these coins are at the moment as well in read.

i do not need the money at the moment,...
so i will absolutly not sell them now!!

Not just altcoins that you hold are down, all the coins in coinmarketcap are down as well even the trusted coins, if the market recover what if the altcoins that you sell will grow, so keep hold if you want to get profit. I see you are weak in investing better to do bounty campaigns to earn without investing money.

just for future references remember than whenever you make an investment in anything you need to set something called stop loss you can read more about it online: https://www.investopedia.com/terms/s/stop-lossorder.asp

but basically it means that you set a number (even manually or in your head) that when you reach that much loss you give up and sell. for example when you invest $1000 you set your stop loss on 5% and when you lose $50 you sell to prevent bigger losses. this is some sort of insurance that you don't lose all your money or end up losing $700 and only be left with $300 ignoring all the fees!

Yeah day trading is an alternative to cut losses and still earn while waiting. Selling all of the coins that you have is not the only option, you could get a portion of that then use it for day trading. To be honest, we should continue waiting and hodling but there is nothing wrong with doing something while waiting.

The dump in bitcoin price also affected the altcoins therefore making all coins considerable for selling but what if the price rise again? @Elcapsono is right, it is easier if you will still have something in the end and it would also be wiser not selling all of it.

Don't cash out and take loos at your coins, especially PRL, because that coin still has a good future. If for BPT I don't really know about that coin. And remember for investment at the crypto-world especially altcoin you must always be patient, strong and brave. Because I think all that things about crypto there isn't certainty for those who aren't patient. What is clear i am sure until now, the crypto-world will definitely be the main things in all transactions.

I think it's better not to do this, and if you chose a perspective coin, it will follow the general trends of the market - it will also begin to increase in the medium term. If you would sell now, when the market is downtrend, you will simply have a loss with no hope of recovery.

you should not be so what you are going to do because now the price of altcoin and the market has not yet come back and it is impossible, it will all return you do not need to cash in and by waiting you can get profit instead of a loss
I do not think you should. Do you remember the time you entered in to the market? The basic aim is always the profit maximization and you are forgetting that. Just hold on and you will earn some good money because you do not loose when the prices fall. You only loose when you sell low. So do not sell low and wait until we enter again into the boom. It is only your wise decisions that meters.

You shouldn't sell your coins for a loss never and this is the major rule in investing that never sell your investment at a loss, no matter the time interval it will surely come to profit you in the future. And I am also following this by investing in those coins which came at a low price at the point of dump and when the Altcoin prices will start rising then I will sell those investments.

The fact is that there is a very big difference between different coins. Of course, the crypto currency will exist in the future unequivocally, But not all coins live. Proceeding from this, it is necessary to correctly select coins for their investments.

cashing out is ok as long as you badly need the cash . lossing on the other hand is also normal , so cheer up . almost all of us do experince loosing because of the curent situation of the market but that does not mean we  are a looser forever . sure we can still be a winner sooner or later as long as we continue to invest or buy at the dips

Cutting your loss by cashing out is also dependable on the coin you hold . let say if you hold a coin that you are not sure , then much better of you can sell it than wait for it to dump more . but if you are holding a good coin like eth or btc , then it is ok to continue holding because they can always recover later on.

if you have decided to sell your assets and you are ready to lose 75%, then do that, you do not want to lose all your money, so your step is very precise. I agree with you, you should not trust anyone in this forum, because no one can guess which coin will give you a profit, it's just a matter of luck.

Well some of the mistakes you have made are generally the most common ones made by new people in crypto.

Firstly it always important to do your own research especially when making investments into alts. Most of the people on social media are primarily only talking up a coin because either they are being paid to do so or they are heavily invested into it themselves and are just trying to create fomo and jack up the price or perhaps are just trying to find people to dump their own coins on. The tone of your statement also implies that you may have invested to much of your money into crypto or amount that you are to uncomfortable to lose. Again the most important rule here is to never invest more than you can lose.

Since the bear period was started many of us here in the crypto space is crying out loud to express the feeling deep in our hearth, but some are brave enough to face the volatility nature in crypto space by keeping their coins intact as a preparation if the bull will overrun the bear, in a very needy situation ,there is nothing wrong to cash it out for the daily needs or emergency use as   long that it is your decision to halt but bear in mind that it might be also losing a chance to recover your loses if the current value is continuously taking in progress, I think you should think about it.

Yes, you have done right by booking the loss and taking out the cash from the losing cryptocurrency by this way you are at least not losing everything on a single trading cryptocurrency pair. But be careful next time because here you have done a mistake as you didn't traded with a proper trading plan and trading without a plan is really a bad idea and you should avoid it.

People on this forum give a lot of advice, but before you take advantage of these tips, you must conduct your own analysis. Most likely you wanted to earn quick money and that's why you invested in these tokens. If you were not greedy and invested in more promising projects, you would have earned.

75% is a heavy loss. You should sell all of them if you lose more than 20%. But do not know for whatever reason you decide to keep it. You should forget about it and hold. Because now you sell, you almost lose completely. So just forget about it and keep it in the future. Will make you happy if you have enough patience

It's important to understand why you are in a loss in the first place and what led to you being in your current situation where you feel you need to sell and salvage what you have left. It appears that you haven't done enough research and gone a bit overboard in terms of certain high-risk coins. If you had adopted a more balanced approach, you wouldn't be in the predicament you are in now and would be able to comfortably hold until your investments recovered.

It is a basic rule but how many people are in this market and have no idea of even the most basic rules when it comes to investing? I will say that the answer to that is the majority, and that is why we see many people like the OP losing money that they cannot afford and investing in a market they do not understand, I would like to feel sorry but when I see this everyday I cannot stop thinking what were these people thinking when they invested in this market?

Basically you may decide to cash out, with some notes that your portfolio has no potential to rise. But you also have to be prepared with the consequence that you could lose a profit that might come up in the future. However, if your portfolio is only bitcoin, you have to hold it. No matter how long it is, bitcoin always has the potential to return to the top.

If the current time with the investment in BPT and PRL losses 75% of the investment, then you should sell to be able to invest in other cryptos to make the profit to compensate for that loss. I recommend investing in ETH to make the long-term profit and low risk.

If you are out of money the only solution is to have one. You have no choice but to cash out. HODL is only applicable for those who have cash in their pockets. The lives of other poeple are not the same as ours. You have to make a decision whether accept the loss or suffer hunger, it depends on every ones situation. If you have funds, I suggest not to cash out.

Never ever sell your assets at losses, not unless you badly need your money. If you can be patient just hold and be patient. The market will not be in a bad shape forever and it will recover some time soon. Just be patient, patience is one of the key in crypto to earn well.

not just the patience required, but a good strategy in minimizing losses when you sell your assets in cheap prices, right now I see the price of bitcoin has started to increase so it will affect the price of other altcoin

You did buy the news so you bought the tokens not because you believed in the project but because you believed in someone that just made a prediction without basis. We can already see your mistake here that's why you lose your interest with your coins easily.

The problem is that many of the people investing in the market are doing it with money they cannot afford to lose and when they begin to lose money they get really worried since they need that money in the short term and then they cash out, this is why it is always recommended in books about investing that you only put in the market money that will not affect your finances if you lose it.

I advise you not to withdraw money at this time. Currently the market is bleeding, Bitcoin prices and altcoin very low. If you withdraw money you will not be profitable and even lose. Many experts predict that by the end of this year the market will stabilize and recover. I think you should be patient and wait until the price goes up.

I advise you not to cash out and should calmly hold the cryptos for a while more as current market rates are low and not potential. Investors' forecasts suggest that the market will regain momentum by the end of 2018 and promise the exchange rate will rise sharply. So hold the cryptos and wait until the end of the year.

I don't think cashing out your money at a loss is a good idea because this market will recover again. Altcoins may experience a long trend sideways but I know it will pump higher again along with bitcoin. Always be patient, this is cryptocurrency and many investors love this technology so better to way for the bull run again.

If you want to make more profit in the future then I suggest you keep investing in the crypto market. At present prices of Bitcoin and altcoin are very low, if you sell you will not be profitable and you will ignore the chance of getting rich in the future. Many experts predict that in the future the cryptocurrency market will grow strongly. So if you want to be profitable then you should be patient and hold on to the long term. I think it is best that you hold the altcoin growth potential.

If you sell your coins, you are selling at what is hopefully the bottom, and you are contributing to the current downtrend (people selling). I get that this is not "play" money for everybody and that some of you guys really need that money in maybe 1 week or 1 month.

As crypto has shown, it rewards those people who have made it through and held on their coins. How many times haven't you read about people who bought Bitcoin at 0,5 dollar and sold at 10? There are so many examples that lead to one golden rule in crypto: buy for the long run.

Be confident in your coins, try to make it work in the real world with what money you have, and please, do not sell your coins. You don't have a loss right now, the second you click that sell button, it all becomes real and you have a REAL loss.

Does anyone remember what 2008 was like? Does anyone remember hearing about 401k accounts losing insane amounts of value? How many people freaked out and withdrew everything from their accounts back then? If they would have just waited it out, they would have earned their funds back and some.

Have some perspective. Selling at a loss at a time where the market is finally consolidating is a bad call. The legitimate currencies will still be around when the dust settles. If you invested for the right reason, you should not be scared. It is why I chose to sink my money in XRP over Bitcoin. I believe this company will survive and XRP will come out leading the pack.

You gotta believe when you invest in crypto. You are not always going to have success but a lot of these coins dip in price and go back up. If the coin is good the market will pick it self up. Don't fall in the panic sellers category. You might regret it later.

if you get a loss from the falling price of bitcoin and get stuck at a very high price and after that you sell it at a very cheap price then you will only get losses, you must be able to recover the assets you have, by utilizing the situation to always be able to benefit from the capital you have, don't let you sell coins at cheap prices, control the patience you have.

What if the market recovers? I think you should hold it. Some of these coins may seem like they won't get back up but they might. You never know. But if you are in need of money then yes sell them. Don't cave in top the mass just because everyone is saying to dump. The investment might turn up.

It is not their fault if they say something positive of your coins in which you attract to invest more because many members here are asking about advice regarding investments in which most of the people here are trying to share their information at long as they could too. If you will just be fair then you could see not only BPT and PRL is in difficult right now but most of the coins are not healthy specially Bitcoin. So if you will not going to listen anymore to the suggestions here then you must do a deep research of your own before you decide so that no one will be blame if you fail again.

There is always that tendency to despair and take a rash decision which ultimately leads to regret. You should remember that in the sphere of investment generally, patience is such a treasured virtue. The market showed signs of recovery recently although it has become cold but a total rebound is on the horizon.

Many do not remember that because the market of cryptocurrencies consist mostly of people under 30 that were not affected directly by the crisis but their parents were, only those that have kept an eye on the economy can remember that, and you are correct but even those that lived through those difficult times most likely have forgotten about it, when the crisis is over us everyone is looking for solutions but as soon as the worst of the crisis goes away people lose interest and want to return to their lives.

Dude, generally I would only advise cashing out when you see a project has truly failed or if there is a tiny community around it. So if you feel the project will not deliver and not go up then yes take a loss and move positions into something better.

If you need a fiat to start a stable bussiness that will generate you income dont waste your time and cash out now. If not wait at last till January 31 2019 and pray for the market to recover because we all want to make big money for doing nothing!

....i believe the market will recover soon or later but this waiting seriously makes me vomit...

Cashout your money is not a good IDEA becaude you will get back your capital . If you want to get back your money you should hold your bitcoin and relax and wait the price to increase again to earn more money. Need to be patient on this year.

Do not think about "moon" and run after a movement ready to see. Take control of your decision. Courage will not help you get back what you lost. But it is learning to work harder for dreams. Do not really define anything when you do not really understand it.

Consider the opinion of other people but don't go to the extent that you will take their advice without proper research from their shilled project, don't trust your money from random advice from random people online, it's your money you should be more careful, anywhere outside the forum you will encounter tons of advertisers saying their product is great, beneficial, X10 etc but it all starts with your own research and execution.

If you can afford the loss and you need that money maybe the best decision is to cash out, but if you love the risk and think and trust the coins in which you have invested on you have to wait those will almost recover, in the market of the cryptocurrencies there are huge spike in price both in negative that in positive way

I know one single rule that always helps to avoid big losses than there is to date. First of all, no sales, Even despite the total fall of the crypto-currency market, you can always expect real prices for sale.

Cashing out on an unpredictable market is like gambling.  You can never be sure whether it's a bottom already or not. I prefer just hold despite the unstability.

It's up to you, of course, but if you have already done so go to the end. Many losses have reached 80%, but there are ways that help to recoup this a little, the main thing is not to panic but to work hard, and there the bull market will come.

I think the loss that you experience is due to carelessness from yourself both when you make a purchase nor when you sell it. When you buy crypto coins, it seems you yourself doesn't understand how the cryptocurrency works then you believe just like that without doing your own research. And when you sell it, it seems to be caused by panic, not based on sound thoughts (filled with emotions). You should be patient and believe when holding them, the two coins that you buy for sure the value will grow even if only for a moment

Now the market has not shown signs of recovery, Bitcoin and altcoin prices are still very low, if you sell at this time you will not be profitable and will lose. I recommend patience and continue to hold. Because many experts believe that the market will recover at the end of the year and the price of bitcoin will increase. Besides, now is also a good time to buy. I believe that long-term investment in this market will bring a lot of profit to us.

There is no luck in the business and it is just a matter of mind and your wise decisions according to the prevailing market condition. If you do not make the rational decision, you are history.

What good will it does you if you sell your coins knowing it is going to cost you some good part of your money you have invested? Despite you should hodl and stay passionate about the investment. The market never remains in one situation and it has natural hidden abilities to approach back to equilibrium.

Such action will just result to regret when the market starts to rise which do always happen since the market dumps are just temporary. It won't solve the problem with loss profit. Be practical and observe that same amount of holdings are there, and it is only the value which is falling. Once the market starts to rise, profit will again be earned and we just need to be patient. Selling will just make the situation worse.

There are some positive signs and news recently, so dont make decision too quick.
Its not only bpt and prl that were falling , but the entire cryptocurrencies.
Selling might just even make the situation worse because such action will make the demand even lower tahat would be reflected to the market value resulting to more dumps. The market in a sudden have increased lately from being down continuously at the beginning of this year. As usual, it again fell, but the good thing behind the bad situation at this moment is that, recovery is always possible to happen. And the increase recently is already a sign that selling during the dumps would be a bad idea.

Perhaps it is worth revising the strategy and starting to participate in day trading, so that you can buy a few promising coins for the profit. I think it will be much easier than selling everything and staying with nothing.
a good solution, There will always be people who sell at the bottom and buy at the top, Selling all the coins you have is not the only option, you can get a portion of it then use it for day trading. To be honest, we must continue to wait and shake but there is nothing wrong with doing something while waiting.

One of the most important technique in crypto currency which is hard to find in most cryptonier is patient and I usually tell people in most of posts that you don't loose your investment in crypto currency even is the market is dump if you can patiently wait but you must be atleast 60% assure of the utility of the coin you wanted to invest in first.

Cashing out/selling off is just the same because you end up losing. I think it is just okay to cash out if you sell it higher than the price when you buy that crypto. Because if not, then why not just wait for just a while and let it grow and sell it at a higher price?

Waiting for this time is essential and investors should be prepared for the market if the market is worse. The cryptocurrency market is very volatile and that is causing a lot of anxiety for investors. But if you want to go along with this market, you need to get used to it. only me.

And it is not going to do you any good either if you cash out right now and choose loss rather than claiming the future profit. This is actually rejecting your own plan and idea. Your strategy is worth more than your loss. Be wise and stay alive in the market without selling a single coin and hodl till you get enough from the price appreciation. We are expecting a rise in the end of the year and that might add a big value to the worth of your portfolio.

Indeed the market has been unstable a little of late. However, this gives a great opportunity to buy in on some of the coins that you think have great returns.
But returns isnt the whole story. Tech and the determination of the team (i.e, their commitment to the project is strong and they wont bail out) are also factors that you should consider. This is because the people making big bucks on bitcoin right now did not sell when it reached like 10$, 100$ or even 1000$.. they held most of their stack. And to hold means the coin should have these strong features.

Of course, if a person invested all of his funds in the national currency, which is in the home budget, then maybe he has no way out and has to cash out the crypto currency. But in any case, if possible, it is better to leave all coins in their wallets for long-term storage.

Try doing your own research 'for at least one year' and don't just listen. Because hearing without doing research everything will feel empty there's no meaning, so you will have the assumption that what people say is wrong, in this case means you can only blame the opinions of others whereas you don't understand the performance of the crypto currency.

You can predict the growth of a coin or a token, based on their prospects for the project. However, it is impossible to predict completely the future movement of the crypto-currency market. There are a lot of players on it and sometimes they make different actions with respect to crypto currency by joint actions.
However, if your coins and tokens are falling due to the general fall of the crypto-currency market, then you should not worry about promising coins and tokens. You just have to wait for the market to grow again. Sell its crypto currency in this period of the fall of the market is stupid.

No doubt that it has been a long time now since the market started declining but that does not mean it is becoming towards its end.Let’s just get logical here. It is not intellectual at all to expect bitcoin to stay on 20k dollars (last year end value) or only make progress. If that was the case then nobody could have earned the chance to buy bitcoin or any potential altcoin at low rates like now.

Do not now you should not sell your pennies on the price of the current penny is very low, then the school will increase sharply later this year was the prediction of many people and many experts on I do not believe The market will grow strongly and wait patiently
For me selling with a loss is only neccessery when we need all our money for any of our goals if not we just need to wait cause we don't lose anything till we don't sell our coins.

I'm out, cashing out so I don't lose everything!

you have just been victimized by your own greed, as many also did, including me.  when we heard of some projects that rumors to have a 10x-100x potential, our conscious mind will shut down and try to follow the greed, which is natural.

losing on your first investments will give you valuable lessons.  if you recognize these mistakes and do not allow them to happen again, then your chance of success the next time will be greater.

Selling your coins for loss is the most unwise decision you would ever make. This is not a rational decision at all. You should rather choose to claim an amount that you could earn when the market is fully green. Right now, you might not be able to earn a thing and would rather loose the money. The crypto market is being treated by most of the people as a way of earning more money that was not possible before. So better follow that way rather than turning 180 degree.

You will do what you want in th end but cashing out with a 75% loss is not the best idea. Do more research and you'll se why you should wait a bit longer. Big players only wait for you to give them your cheap coins.

if you dont urgently need the money that you invested in crypto market, i dont advise you to cash out now. because we are about to end of a bearish period and i strongly believe that most of the major altcoins are going to start recovering soon.

it seems you have to be able to organize your management and investment theory and maybe you don't lose much by withdrawing it but you lose your luck for the long term

If you cash out now you must take a big loss . You know this is a bear market for cryptocurrency and many investors almost spend money to buy more coins at this time.

My advice is that you have to be patient, because predictions at the end of the year will increase,
and don't let you regret it later, you should be sure of what you invest.

Sometimes i think cash out too. We can't make money for a long time, it's not pleasant to invest. It may be a good option to make all investments in cash and wait for the fall to end :) it is very difficult to decide

If you wait a little more damage I think at least it will be even less towards the end of the year, for example, You can expect beautiful things.

You are correct, crypto is a game of luck, but the early you buy, the better chances of gaining more, so if you think that you gained in your port, then sell a portion of it, this time, we are experiencing downtrend, you can cutloss anyway
