Title: Is blockchain is a never ending process?
Post by: bankscrypto on June 14, 2018, 06:10:50 PM
blockchain is a decentralized and secured technology for transaction or transfer currency all over the world. But is it possible to stop one day or its forever?

I guess it will scale up to such a degree that we will not be able to count all the transactions. There will be more meshes of blockchain than the stars in the sky  8)

I guess it will scale up to such a degree that we will not be able to count all the transactions. There will be more meshes of blockchain than the stars in the sky  8)

Quote
By measuring the number and luminosity of observable galaxies, astronomers put current estimates of the total stellar population at roughly 70 billion trillion

To reach that every human in this world would have to make 10 trillion transactions.
If we give an estimate of 1 million tx in a lifespan we're going to have to wait for 10  million generations in order to reach that.

Hope I got the math right...I have the feeling something is off.

But is it possible to stop one day ?

Yes, the moment there is not a single miner left mining blocks the chain stops.

Bitcoin always experiences transaction movements and always runs all the time, and I think it's impossible to stop bitcoin in a day.

Depends on the mining. If now every miner stops their mining then there will be no new blocks in the chain. But meshes are getting bigger and complicated so is the power of mining equipments.

Yes bitcoin is the never ending process. People are well known about Bitcoin. The next generation kids also know about Bitcoin, this process will continue till the end of the computer. So no one can destroy this process.

No, everything is alive. The blockchain never seems to end, but more advanced technology may replace it in the future. Now I can't predict what will replace the blockchain in the future, but it will always There is such a day.

The blockchain is immutable, and we will always have the blockchain. The only question is whether we will have something much more sophisticated. The field of cryptography is still growing.

Its a digital data. The space for data in internet is continuously upgrading. So is the Blockchain. The miners are continuously conforming transactions and making blocks to be added in the chain. Their equipment is also upgrading to do more complicated equations as the meshes getting dense. So I think it will go further until it being stopped.

If you're referring to the bitcoin blockchain, yes, it's possible for it to be stopped if a global crackdown on miners takes place and seize all the mining equipment, further preventing the addition of new blocks on the chain. Given the 'decentralized' nature of bitcoin, and its miners being situated into different parts of the world, it would be hard to search all of these and seize it all, so that one possibility is ruled out. Another event that could possibly stop bitcoin's blockchain is a nuclear warfare wherein a huge percentage of the world is completely disintegrated and the remaining are left dying in nuclear waste. We are very far from that happening but it still is a possibility you cannot rule out to happen in the distant future, otherwise the process of adding blocks in the chain is ad infinitum.

Hi, Since there will be miners blockchain will never ends!
but problems can insurge. For example how to run a full node in your computer when the weight of the blockchain will surpass terabytes of memory?
I would like to know it.

We could say it that way. Ending process in the sense that market is controlled by investors and once they sold a lot, it will fall greatly and somehow, people will go back to zero and wait again.
Not unless someone throws away millions of btc to be lost forever so that prices will not drop to Zero.

If you are talking about transactions, I think it will have a limit like what happened before with the scaling problem. BTC and other crypto coins are still not adapted worldwide and we can still expect problems in the near future.

I believe that it's here to stay forever just like cryptocurrencies.
If there is something that can stop it then it can be the government that will definitely have an opposite stand against blockchain by implementing total ban of it. And it can also stop if there's no more data/transactions to process and it can happen if people will migrate to a better or upgraded version of it.

It is a new and advanced technology for transaction or transfer of money and for some other dealings, as it is the advanced technology so everyone will adopt it with the passage of time and will work on it to make it more better which shows that it is a long lasting technology and we cannot think that this technology will ever stop or last.

It's not possible to stop a peer to peer network that is using modern technology. Governments and industries have been trying to stop or even delay torrenting of music and things like that to no avail, and so the music industry now has largely changed into a streaming service and concert service because of it. So Bitcoin will force change once it becomes disruptive enough, we just need some more user interface changes to make it as easy to spend as swiping a card.

The governments have not been trying to shut down torrenting actively.
If that would have happened they would have all have gone after the torrent sites and in a matter of months they would have shut them all down. And without a place to get your .torrent file in order to download something the p2p protocol is useless.

It's Netflix that has killed torrenting in North America, and that is a scary perspective....

It doesn't have to be a forced shutdown, that will never happen as there will be always some part of the world that will keep going on mining or at least some guys in a basement in Siberia.
Its end will come the same way other p2p technologies end up, users leaving them for something else, but I doubt we will see this in our lifetime (at least mine).

so long as there are miners the process will never end. When all the btc are mined, its not going to stop since the transactions of BTC needs miners for it to be confirmed, the miners will gain through these transactions. Same goes to other algo of any other tokens. Somehow in the future the chains will interconnect to each other as it may happen eventually all these transactions will not end so long as people are using crypto.

I do not understand well what you mean by STOP. if you mean to quitting the development of blockchain platform I will say no. when you study very well you will realize blockchain developer focus on development of new blockchain with consensus algorithm that improves the existing blockchain. Also, many new blockchain is developed to suit a particular or group of industry. E.g Smilo is focusing on developing hybrid blockchain that allows the creation of both public and private smart contract. a private blockchain will help industry like a medical sector that wants to maintain anonymities with patient medical history.

Even if all asics disappeared tomorrow, people could simply go back to cpu/gpu mining. Granted, that diff adjust would be painful, but the network would survive.

My actual question is: What happens after the last bitcoin gets mined?. Sure the year 2140 is so far away we may not even see it, but, I'd like to know regardless.

The blockchain is a distributed recording technology so that the distribution of records will always be continuous, but at least there must be a minimum confirmation of recording, at least 3 confirmations which will then be broadcast to the next chains. The more new networks automatically the more records on the blockchain, so the blockchain will continue to flow like water.

Blockchain seems to be here for the long term, but it will improve to be more scalable in the long run. blockchain size will be so light that everyone with a mobile phone will be able to mine it without affecting daily usage. Hardware technology will definitely improve along with software technology, like how 20 years ago, a huge server could only store 128mb of storage, today a thumbdrive can store up to 1tb.

That's a very interesting question. Obviously, it can't be "forever". However, look at most other technologies in the past. Bows were replaced with firearms, all paper currencies in the past have failed and lost the majority of their original perceived value, Telegraph was replaced with telephones, and telephones have been largely replaced with cell phones and now smart devices. The way we've dialed phone numbers has changed. Typewriters to keyboards and wordprocessors. Etc, etc. Blockchain is interesting, and the concept may stick around for a long time, it may even become deeply embedded into everyday life or into certain industries (of course it could also be forgotten and/or replaced). One should look into upcoming technology, such as quantum computing, and see if it poses dangers to blockchain technology, or if the two could be combined somehow to create a combination of both.

Have a good day,
The Cyberius team.

What I know is that the Blockchain system is cryptographically protected so that the timestamp on the document cannot be damaged or backed up, it is very safe.
About BlockChain Technology is designed in modern technology systems, data encryption is very strong and can only be read and added, but cannot be changed, protected by cryptography encryption that cannot be edited,
BlockChain develops without depending on centralized servers.

Therefore BlockChain avoids the risk of downtime on the server. Centralistic blockchain systems become decentralized, so the blockchain will not die or disappear along with the technological sophistication of the world today.

Yes it is possible that blockchain  will stop soon because their is no permanent in this world but we need to trust blockchain. If we can see blockchain  is a great new update of technology for data and for sure it consume many years before of stopping happen because many of company was now using blockchain  even banks.

blockchain works a transaction is placed in a block by miners who are special nodes. The computers in the network holding the Blockchain are called nodes. Miners place transactions in blocks in response to proof of work challenges. ... Cryptography is essential on Blockchains to thwart thieves who would like to hack into the Blockchain

No one can tell for the now but as time goes on only when the internet goes stops working or functioning then there will be no more blockchain and also it may also advance to an extent where we may even lose count

That wont happen because internet is super important to humans  . many jobs and business rely on internet . electricity is the second important thing that are impossible to stop .  do you notice that there are now generators ?  Because even when blackouts or brownouts occur  . the electricity and internet will always continue to run without interuptions  .  so as the blockchain  .   thats it, blockchain really is a never ending process .

Blockchain is having a great influence on the world and most people are putting their faith in this technology very large because it can be applied in many different areas. Currently the world's major banks are using this technology to change the world better

Stop quoting like this. Your reply and what you've quoted doesn't have any correlations.

Bitcoin is the king of blockchain, how ever when bitcoin at higher price all of altcoin and crypto have higher price, we can take care about how blockchain at the future, but we need support how to make bitcoin have higher price every time.

What does king of blockchain means? Seems like people view Bitcoin as some sort of cult leader. Anyway, just because something is priced higher than the other doesn't mean it is the "king", for example: BCH/XRP.

blockchain is a decentralized and secured technology for transaction or transfer currency all over the world. But is it possible to stop one day or its forever?
I think bitcoin is a never ending process and it can last long because as new adoptors accept the existence of the blockchain technology new generation would find ways in making it more effectively profitable and more user friendly.Possibilities would be that the chain will continue up to the youngones or the the new age of adoptors.

Every transaction made are being added to the chain so it really shows that blockchain is a continuous and an endless process. Technology continues to grow and improve day by day, so does blockchain has a big room for improvement. It will continue to develop as technology continues to develop. As it continues to improve, people will be more dependent on it.

Truly blockchain is a never ending process, because the data gets added to the ledger. This keeps going on and this chain keeps going. Though there are different blockchain platforms, each has got its unique value in terms of processing, block addition, data retrieving. As the technology is new and in its adoptive stage the chain keeps growing forever.

I think, the blockchain transaction won't stop forever, even every day it will continue to increase
technology will be increasingly sophisticated and will simplify blockchain transactions worldwide
Maybe you are talking about something else. The blockchain transactions didn't stop but it can, once no one will mine it. As more and more people goes into this technology the more unlikely that it will stop. If that happens though, our life won't be enough to witness it, and it would take a lot of transactions to do that, like what others said in this thread.

Bitcoin is just a use case for the blockchain. The blockchain itself is much more than just Bitcoin and the further development and chances for success of blockchain tech do not depend on the price of any crypto coin.

It was made to run forever, even when all the bitcoins get mined it should keep running for fees reward. Since mining is a business then there is not a good reason to stop it, so, while we have electricity and Internet, there will be a blockchain application running in the network.

We don't know what will happen tomorrow nor even its gonna be like. For all I know about Blockchain technology, it cannot be hack.
That's why it is really safe to use. But I don't think it will last forever, of course everything in this world has an ending so in this type of technology which is very trend nowadays, I guess it will improve more due to it is only the beginning were some of the country now are adopting little by little.

We don"t know yet since block chain is still in a development stage and its benefit and usage is not measured yet. But as the old saying says "there is no forever in this world" anyway technology doesnt stop theres always a new coming once old technology are stsrting to slow down.

Bitcoin is technology, a network of transactions that have no chain loopholes. has a database of all transaction records. I think Bitcoin and its technology won't die. it's just that it will make the latest upgrades on the network and others. currently many of the latest Bitcoin versions have been upgraded from old networks. but Bitcoin remains the best at the moment. and that will continue, because Bitcoin is the pioneer of the safest transactions.

my opinion is that bitcoin just paused. because they need a new strategy again so that everything goes well. so it's not like this, so sometimes bitcoin technology is increasingly tightened.

I think it may be stopped if the government is involved. Otherwise it seems to be endless.I think we have plenty of time to watch this process and then to tell our children about it ;)

As long as there are those who use, develop, build, it will not stop. At the moment there is no better alternative than the blockchain, if at any time there is new technology, new science, new ways and it is better to be safe, people will move from the blockchain, but this doesn't seem to happen in the near future.
