bitcoin is worth 180% more since 15/6/17 (last year), however all media and news portals say that bitcoin is dying, a 180% performance in just one year is extraordinary, where you will find a performance like this ? ... because the media and news portals want to see bitcoin dead? ... in my opinion bitcoin is more alive than ever, and I will continue to hold my cryptocurrencies very strong.

I couldn't agree more with your conclusions. It seems part of the problem is that the majority of newcomers into the crypto-space are expecting exponential growth.
They are expecting to become millionaires overnight. With such unrealistic expectations, of course they would be disappointed, even depressed when the markets are
sloping downwards. The media will continue to proclaim bitcoin's death, but it will grow ever stronger. If nothing else, this whole situation is funny to watch.

Bitcoin has been dying several times. with every time the price drops, media reports that it's definitely over. Quite recently, there was a similar story. Exactly in April this year.

The media and FUD monsters like ripping BTC out whenever there is a Dip, the clueless sheep get scared and start panic selling. The bottom line is that bitcoin grows every year nothing less than 100% ... most of the time way way way more than 100% per year. So if we look at the bigger picture which is annual growth then we need not worry about the daily, weekly, monthly ups and downs... if you hodling then your investment grows at nothing less than 100% per year...

Most of the time mainstream media just writes every irrelevant information concerning cryptocurrency in general, for the sake of having daily/weekly content on the topic. If it will generate clicks, then they will write about it. Mainstream media have always had a love-hate relationship with cryptocurrency, mostly hate though.

They love to jump into fear-mongering whenever they have the chance to, given that it's one of their forte ever since the corporate giants started paying them for shoddy journalism. Most people are looking into bitcoin's extraordinary gain in just over a year without looking into fundamentals in which it was clearly lagging at during the run/ There's obviously no way for people to value bitcoin at those price ranges without any form of artificial price boosts which we clearly know of. Those price ranges were purely speculation, hype and FOMO, and no natural growth were associated during that point of hysteria.

It's a Bitcoin thing. What makes you sell is not the real data coming from the markets, it's your own weakness and once you sell, comes relief. You stop worrying, transfer money to your bank account, start feeling safe, and then it hits you. You realize that it may not die after all and that it might have been a mistake. Trust me, I've been there.

Media creates FUD not because it has something against bitcoin or any other cryptocurrencies, but just because they need to make headlines and drive traffic. So the problem is not them.
The real problem is 70% of the community here (I may be mistaken about this number, it's just my suggestion). So most of people here got involved itno crypto in December, no surprise, most people are disappointed and really believe that bitcoin's dead.

There are some "high people" with interests that of course are greedy and want more btc at low prices for themselves so they manipulate the masses through media that bitcoin is "dying", btc is not good, blah.. blah.. Smart people will not get trapped,but will take advantage of the opportunity to pick up some more BTC. ;) Suckers will panic sell or will even get out of the markets forever due to the loss they had by buying high and selling low. Remember 1 BTC is 1 BTC until you sell. ;)

May be.But after the price of bitcoin reaches 2000$,I was surprised till the end of year.There is a continuous improvement in bitcoin price last year.May be this happens due to the increase in investors in bitcoin and cryptocurrency.Bitcoin is alive with positive potential.

Hype news is easier to sell and it is usually a bad one.
It is easier to know what is going to happen if you see it clearly.
But not everyone has that skill.

It depends on what kind of media you are reading/watching/listening to. If we talk about some crypto-related portals or telegram channels, then yes, you are right, they are still enthusiastic and convince everyone to hold. But tabloids and newspaper press are making these headlines about bitcoin's death and investors' bitter grief.

Anyhow, don't be serious about my header sentence. Im not here to opposed it. It's just that most people really used to experienced price increase especially last. 2017 is the golden year of bitcoin where new ATH established within a short period of time. New people that come into cryptocurrency sees how good putting money here. Since the trend is upwards they didn't even think that someday price will goes down. And now the worst case scenario came and it's crashed their spirit.

The one that understand how bitcoin price behave will remained here. The only one lefts are those who just entered crypto without any basic knowledge.

Nor surpising these media portals trying to sell themselves put such scandalous headlines and bury bitcoin due to imaginary reasons,still it has no infulence on people who are into crypto.

But since the beginning of this year, it is trading negative percentage and if this continue till we end the year, then I think this will be the year bitcoins records negative gain.

Although this was a spam post for yet another guaranteed money making price predictor, the idea there is some sort of bitcoin/crypto exceptionalism when it comes to price analysis, is typical of the complacent hubris which is widespread, especially in the last year.

Well price rises and falls it does not mean we should support or make any negative image of bitcoins as an investment in our country, so recently price was dropped for, and it was so down in price but it does not mean it is an end for bitcoin as we can see now bitcoin has recover and high in price once again so it never ends.

This ain't a fair fight with bitcoin but we should have to think that these group of people who paid for fake media informations, has their own game plan for digital currency's future. Those hypes, FOMO or whatsoever that could potentially drag down bitcoin and other crypto must do accomplish their plans, and I am confident people will soon realize that this was just a diversion in order to create panic. Eventually those who been worried about negative informations, developed courage and learned to control their emotions so they're coming back again and recovering what they've missed out.

and we'd better take references from media that support bitcoin, like telegraph, coindesk, and others, and that will make us sure and not panic.

If anyone says that bitcoin is dying or dead it is wrong, because if we look at bitcoin prices in the previous year the bitcoin price is very cheap, and I believe that bitcoin will soon rise again.

Media just wants to get some attention, they targeted bitcoin for the good traffic it can gives. Bitcoin is alive, let us just focus on the bright side.

Yeah I can remember last year's bitcoin price was around $2,000-$2,500 for the month of June.

They want to report false news so they can take advantage of it. These medias are totally making their own reports without basing the past charts, they all like to cover bitcoin's fall for this year. Some medias are taking a look at the past charts but most don't.

The price of bitcoin now is great, many people not realize this because they are only focus on the peak price, and since there are huge drop, they like to say bitcoin is dead, but for the one that already involve in bitcoin for long time, know that bitcoin already got a huge achievement

Paid or not there will be people who won't stop hating on Bitcoin. How can you be sure that those people who panicked before will come and buy again what if they don't? Not everyone can control their emotions i've seen some news about an investor that killed himself because of his losses.

It's not all on the peak price some don't realize because they either bought Bitcoin when the price is above $10k or completely new to Bitcoin's volatility.

'Still' worth 180% more than last year's though, for me that's still all good and positive with the current status of Bitcoin. The massive increase of price last December was so strong that resulted to a major bearish market afterwards so it needs to breath once again and are now affecting the Bitcoin's price that for me is normal when it comes to corrections.

Medias in particular are all for the interesting facts whether it's true or not, so if people tend to believe what they are all telling about Bitcoin then we believers can't do anything about it. Bitcoin was made to last and for as long as it keeps on surviving then it will remain as the number one cryptocurrency.

I agree with your opinion, although until now the media is still making bad news about bitcoin but bitcoin is increasingly in demand, I think bitcoin will be worth more and grow faster, I'm sure all bitcoin holders will benefit a lot by the end of this year.

It was speculative, bitconnect style investing, where all the new money was just getting in for the purpose of doubling their money.

Bitcoin needs more *true* adoption, before the price should start really increasing again. Almost all stores that accept credit cards seem to support Apple pay. Or Samsung pay. Or whatever -pay.. (At least where I live.)

But none of these stores will accept bitcoin. Amazon doesn't accept bitcoin. Your gas station won't take your crypto.

I think that the price needs to become a completely secondary characteristic of bitcoin. Doesn't matter what the price is. We need to get the real world to acknowledge the potential of the blockchain.

That's how bitcoin gets to 100K USD. We don't need a bunch more wall street money pumping in, because they think of the crypto market as roulette. We need real people to buy into the entire premise, because it has become a way of life.

Majority of people treats bitcoin more than as an asset and investments compare to currency and I don't see any things that can changed that since we are happy with the advantages that we can get even just by simple holding of a portion of a bitcoin. People are speculating that bitcoin price will reached another moon price so again, it will just continue the hype.

There are things that might changed that but so difficult think that it will happened. Let's see in more upcoming years.

The reason for thinking like this was 20k in December of the previous year. The price will not satisfy anyone anymore if the price is not 20k. There are thousands of altcoins that are dependent on Bitcoin and Bitcoin's price is also showing up at their price.

Maybe yes.  I also notice how some of the media and news portals have posting about bitcoin.  It seems that what you have mentioned is correct. In addition,  newcomers of bitcoin always wants the high price or value,  without even knowing that it is part of bitcoin to have a low amount so that users can buy some coins and to hold it so that when the value goes up, they will earn profit.

These are things that needs to be said and announced but unfortunately its the opposite that is being spread like wild fire. 180% is a very decent returns on investment without any noise of being a ponzi or some extraordinary ROI. I think there is need for reorientation for reduction in the expectations of returns as that is what is causing the whole noise and panic anytime there is a crash in price of bitcoin.

this is very true. but you can never compare bitcoin with gold. even if you want to do it then you have to compare the 9 years of bitcoin with the early years of gold meaning the time when the first gold mine was created back in Ancient Egypt (1320–1200 BC) and gold started having value. in comparison bitcoin is still young and is still being adopted so the money flow in is still ongoing which is why when price goes down it will go back up again soon after.

you also have to take into consideration the supply of these two. when bitcoin has a limited supply which is being created and enters circulation at a steady pace, gold supply creation rate changes throughout time as new mines are found, new methods for extraction are found,...

interesting enough the big price drop that happens after 1980 in your chart is the same date on above chart that a sharp increase in the gold production occurs in 1980.

In every time that the situation is like that where in bitcoin is in long run of dip, most people said that bitcoin will going to it's end or die or disappear. It is so funny  because it's uncountable times that I heard that but until this moment bitcoin are still stand strong in the cryptomartket and still leading in the top. No one's prediction can tell exactly what will be happened in the future and if we are a true believer of btc therefore we need to have positive thoughts about it and still supporting and patronizing it.

Yes,a long term holder will know how much the bitcoin has given to them but the only people who invested when the price at peak are moaning now and afraid that bitcoin will be dead.BUt last year the bitcoin price starts with $1000 but now it is about $6000 which is more than the OP's growth percentage.

Happy Anniversary  ;D, with all the news right now because of the recent slide of Bitcoin's price there really is a lot of negative news right now. We really do need this kind of positive outlook and let us spread it all over to let people who are getting worried because of the price.

They should understand that these media and news portals are trying to generate click bait articles for them to earn money. They don't really care about Bitcoin or for it to die, they just want you to click on their link and read what they have to say also see all the ads that they have on their site and maybe a few of you would click on them then boom! They earn money! What I would suggest is just to keep an open mind in those news you read.

This is very accurate. We should count the blessings instead of the the things that are just normal to happen. It goes back to $6k then it is okay. Some people might have lost when they bought it in $20k but there are still years to come and their investments can still be doubled.

I think this is not the first time the bitcoin price has fallen, though since the incidence of bitcoin this is the first time the bitcoin value has jumped to over 200 million rupiah but this is usual in investment and I think that's normal.

bitcoin can survive when the price lower than now so i think there is no reason to says bitcoin dying however all of news portals will says bad for bitcoin and i'm not surprising about this that they always spread FUD to makes people change their mind to not use bitcoin and probably they also caused why bitcoin price can't reach such as 2017 achievement

For long term holders&early investors and also smart traders there is no problem with current price, and they are take advantage of the last ATH to sell some coins and maybe buy back at the lowest price. There is a problem for those who have invested at prices far more than the current, for them there is no 180% rising in price, but on the contrary they are in loss.

The media simply do what they always do, they are focused on price increase and price drop so it is not unusual to write this way. But I still would not agree that all is saying that BTC is dying, it is just have bad time in the sense that its price was pretty low compared to the beginning of the year. Actually it is a big disappointment to those who expected something more in a short time, and it takes time that the collective opinion regarding BTC be changed again in the positive direction.

Well, last year, bitcoin has a fast growing and the actually value of BTC has gone from around $3000 to 19000$, it is now about 7000$ and many said that it is dying and the bubble is about to burst without taking consideration about the development of real value

In my views, bitcoin is still worth for investment and going stronger as ever and more improving than a year ago. Though it had undergone a major bear market but those were just part of the btc correction and nothing that serious. This time, people should have to consider in buying more btc at a lower price for this will move a drastic upward trend in the coming months. They say so, because they need to publish at least some news and draw attention to themselves. Positive news will attract no one, but negative news, they attract naive listeners.

Btc sadly has fallen a lot from last year which till now has not started to rise the way we saw last year. But second half of the year said to be much much better in terms of demand and price rise. Also some good events can push the price high.

People are complaining too much. Many of them have bought Bitcoin in December so they have lost a lot of money and that's why they are panicking. People who have been here for a long time, know that we should not be afraid of this dump. Bitcoin has crashed already many times and it will crash in the future. It's a perfect time to buy more.

it is all state of mind and how you look at things. All that important when trading. Everybody was creating new crypto exchange accounts last summer when BTC was same price as today. Now BTC is dead for them. So interesting, same thing same value but once it is a gold tomorrow is a crap.

As for the media, my opinion is that they absolutely do not care about the real state of affairs, their task is to make a sensation on an empty spot and thereby influence the market. That's all.

Actually positive news can attract people to invest in bitcoin but sad to say that these are more affected in negative news but if you know bitcoin you won't believe easily in any negative news and focus on earning profit.

Yes, bitcoin is big enough, and its price is still high today. We have to accept this because it is really the nature of bitcoin and other altcoins that have risen and fall. Yes, I agree with you and you are right. Actually, people and amateur traders are all misguided from the Media, Internet articles and content which most states and prove that Bitcoin is dead. This is not true, most of the crowd are following what the media are telling and sharing and all are junks and sometimes even I think that they don't want us to invest here. In fact, even I think that this is the right time to invest in the cryptocurrency and we all can expect a good future in cryptocurrency for sure.

That's exactly what the media are all trying to lower the faith in bitcoin and cryptocurrency. Big whales want to bring down the price of bitcoin and buy it to the maximum. This is logical, but for those investors who already store bitcoin it is extremely not profitable

Bitcoin wont give up and show its potential to grow again but will not lose the value along the market. Though it has very expensive before and it was a year now, I believe that it will recover soon not as high like that but much higher the price it has today before the year ends again. The decreased of price is an opportunity to buy more volume and make it profitable in the future though it is long time holding.

Their basis is the December 2017 to January 2018 chart only so they are all keep on publishing that bitcoin is dying with -% day by day.

They have their own agenda of publishing it or if you'll analyze those articles, they are attacking silently the entire crypto community and to be specific is to discourage aspiring bitcoin investors.

Last year, it was these "experts" who are calling bitcoin fraud and not worth of investing, the same goes for this year along with this topic.

There are always some people trying to make FUD. Whenever the price drops a little, they do not miss the opportunity to make FUD. Sadly there are also many people don't know what is bitcoin and lose their faith easily.

looks good, the basis we use when at a glance the price drops from late last year. but in reality the current price is showing good progress. it's just that the media and the people behind it exist with a vested interest in generating profits because their greedy behavior goes well. new arrivals will leave and survivors who understand the basics. 8)

Media is one of the competence of the bitcoin  because most of the media now are negative feedback about bitcoin and the investor of the bitcoin panic and they sell their bitcoin. Because we know media is powerful because they have a lot of people who see their news and their authorize to do review everything. Just keep holding bitcoin because it is a good Idea.

I agree with you because I still believe in the future of Bitcoin too. It will be a new era of our money and using it in the internet.

The future does belong to btc and other cyrpto currency. Only it is matter of time before the bull run begins and all of them will only speak of about it as people will make money those who have already invested or investing at current point.
 

Yeah, January was good times for all cryptos not just bitcoin, it was hyped, but keep in mind that there are still undiscovered markets for cryptos and the whole crypto space is infant status. Lets wait a few years and we mights see bitcoin at 100k.

The media outlets are shit. They adjust their agenda based on the sentiment, which is pathetic. On top of that, the quality and unbiased nature of their articles have reached yet another all time low this year. I use them to counter the market sentiment, which has been working pretty well -- doing the opposite of what the mass thinks will happen is a profitable practice. It's not guaranteed to work every single time, but this at least allows you to book more profitable than losing longer term trades. I'm not messing with the very short term market, but longer term trading (buy low sell high) seems the better option with how we keep jumping up and down.

This figures show how dramaticaly Bitcoin has changed and grown over time. Still many are not satisfied and they will only appreciate it if the price goes over 10000$ again.
But very often we forget that Bitcoin is not just about price and how many positive changes has made.
So keep suporting Bitcoin and all that it represents.
