im fully aware that ethereum got some moves and that others are saying that
it will overtake bitcoin in marketcap and will take the top spot
but im pretty sure that bitcoin will remain on top and ethereum will be the second largest only
what are your views regarding this , just want to know what your thinking
give us a thumbs up if you like this topic

Bitcoin will be No1 because has limited max supply = 21M and now 17M is circulating so price will rise up in future.
Etherium has unlimited supply and small chances to grow up because no deficit.

it is hard to overtake bitcoin, eth is popular by itself when bitcoin is red the eth market follows, we can see it by the end of the year if there would no changes happen in both market. when it terms to price, eth price is too far to achieve bitcoin price.

That would be hard for ETH to be number one spot on the coin market. Although ETH is very flexible still BTC is the pioneer of all coins and many have invested on it. That is why I am pretty sure that ETH will not overtake BTC on the market.

It's unlikely ethereum can outdo bitcoin on the general market capitalization because between them the huge abyss as is aware, and in volumes of deposits. I don't know what has to occur that so it happened, but very strongly I doubt that at least in the next two years so will occur.

I do not think ETH can win the position of BTC, it is impossible. Because btc is limited and eth is not. That is why BTC prices are going up sharply, and ETH can not keep up. Of course it will still occupy the 2nd place, but I'm not sure if the money it was robbed throne or not.

Before the end of the year bitcoin will be the first - that's for sure, but in 2019 it is possible that the ethereum will be higher in volume  ;)

The maximum supply of bitcoin which stands at 21m has been a huge advantage for it. Investors don't like to invest in a coin they don't know its maximum stated out. Etheruem is popular too but I don't think it can top bitcoin.

This is a question that has been repeatedly cropping up. My answer to this has not changed at all. Bitcoin is here to stay as the number one cryptocurrency. Ethereum will be the second one but its not going to be a close competition. Of course, the value of Bitcoin as compared to the rest of the altcoins seems decreasing. It is because the world of cryptocurrency is growing exponentially everyday with altcoins releasing every now and then. And the market right now is very bad. Every coin is decreasing in the value. Let's wait for the recovery period and see what happens.

i hope ethereum overtakes the market. because bitcoin is affected by so many things including fake manipulations. but if ethereum is going to take over the market, it shouldnt reduce paralelly when bitcoin price is dropping.

Eth had little possibilities to occupy the space of BTC at no.1 slot but it is close to impossible for now since the one has been looking and keep holding is the BTC itself, we can actually see it on its actual marketcap. ETH need more attraction to come before it will surpass the dominance of bitcoin and its so hard to eliminate the bitcoins since we all know that it is the face of all cryptocurrency.

BTC will stay in the first place for a long time. Because the market is now trading on BTC. When the price of BTC falls, all altcoins will go down. This clearly illustrates the status of the BTC market. ETH will be a great development space, but it can not replace BTC's position at present.

I thought bitcoin are still the one of the top coins in the world of crypto, it is hard for ethereum to beat the king. Yes ethereum are still in the second place. We know the potential of ethereum  and it had a news updates that planning scaling up the network and I'm sure the price will more expensive.

To my humble insights, the ETH almost no chance to overtake BTC within the next few years.
Unless ETH can get a breakthrough in technology and address some of the weaknesses present in its blockchain.
If you say ETH can overtake the BTC (in the short run), it is most likely to surpass the trading volume - because ETH has an infinite supply, so its volume will increase over time. (the supply of BTC is about to reach the limit)

I think that sooner or later, but the time will come when the ethereum will overtake bitcoin, simply because the ethereum is more modern technology. But it will not happen soon.

I do not yet see that the ethereum is overtaken by Bitcoin, and without controversy ethereum is strong, but Bitcoin is rapidly stabilizing and the growth will soon completely level out.

It may be that someone deliberately hyped Ethereum. It is impossible for Ethereum to surpass Bitcoin. The price of Bitcoin will only become more and more expensive.

Agreed. It is pointless to argue that someone will overtake bitcoin. It's never gonna happen. Bitcoin started before anyone else, which means it has an advantage. If he leaves, then maybe someone will overtake him in a couple of years.

Indeed. There are not as many followers of the ETH as bitcoin is having currently. It is always said that BTC will keep gaining more and more dominance over the market as the time will keep passing over. BTC is always preferred currency for its safety and security. Off course its value is what mostly appreciated by investors. They know, BTC has power to overcome any down trend in very short terms however ETH is weak in that term and thus may not fulfil the needs in the future for investors. Thats why I believe ETH can not overtake BTC at all.

i agree to you there nothing can replace bitcoin in their spot position as king of altcoins  obvously every time bitcoin are dropping ethereum are affected and all coin in the market cap, let analysis the situation since the price of bitcoin dropping the market start last week of december of 2017 all altcoins including ethereum are dropping their price a little until now altcoin are in the red signal.

This is truth as all structures of cryptocurrencies are build on bitcoin.  Bitcoin has established ground more than ethereum and I think it will surely remains the major cryptocurrencies. If we should have ethereum as the dominant cryptocurrencies I will benefit more as I hold alot of its tokens but I doubt if this is still possible.  

Thats too sudden man. I dont think ETH can take up that market cap at all and will be able to beat the market cap of BTC itself. The crypto market for BTC already overgrown and it is continue to do day by day due to its more use for the store value purpose. Now you will see how it grow even bigger as the BTC prices has fallen to heavy discounts. I think there is no other good time than this when whales will enter the market and will put whatever they have got. This is the best possible way for BTC to keep up the race.

It's almost impossible for eth to overtake Bitcoin.Cause people trust only Bitcoin over anything .People who don't know what crypto or blockchain is they know the one name Bitcoin.And Bitcoin is limited at supply and demand is high and going higher.And it's the base coin of every trade .. exchanges add eth but the volume of btc is always high.So maybe be one day eth or some altcoins will cross btc.But that day is long long away or may it never come.

Ethereum is much more likely to lose its second place, in fact it already happened twice some months ago, than to take the place of Bitcoin. Anyway, anyone who has been involved in cryptocurrencies for some time knows that the market cap of a coin is not as important as many people think and that the true value of Bitcoin goes far beyond its price in dollars at any given time.

For me bitcoin is a king and it will be on first place for next X years, this coins was first on market so that is saying that it can't be in any different place.

We are hearing about ETH taking over bitcoins from so long but there are no signs of it. Every time BTC falls, even ETH follows this, so BTC will remain number one.

Ethereum will surely not pass bitcoin as bitcoin has a very huge market cap which any coin would not reach easily. The big shoot of ethereum when it will get the next update to determine the hardcap supply of ethereum. That means there will be no more inflation from the miners. as we know bitcoin is the icon for the digital currency, and will always be number 1 in the crypto world. BTC prices in the market will continue to grow in the future. and the ETH price is too much to reach the BTC price. indeed most ICO prefer to use ETH because of some advantages it has. but ETH has little chance to grow because it has no deficit. so I'm sure ETH will not go beyond BTC in the crypto market.

Bitcoin will be here as long as crypto exists, because it is the original crypto-currency. There is a strong possibility that it may lose its no.1 position sometime in the future, but i will never become worthless. And I don't think that if some other coin overtakes Bitcoin, that will be ETH.

Because the lightning network is currently being deployed, when the lightning network is successful, bitcoin will be far behind all ALTCOIN.

personally, I think if I expect Ethereum to catch up with the market. because bitcoin is affected by many things including false manipulation. but I also do not think ETH can win the BTC position, it is impossible. Bitcoin will always be in the number one spot in the coinmarketcap because we all know that the bitcoin is the king of all the cryptocurrencies even if it is going down again in value. On the other hand etherium is the second to bitcoin when it comes in popularity and in income , long term or short term. And i believe that bitcoin will rise again just like last year where its value suddenly skyrocket.

And it has already earned lots of trust from certufied costumers globally. It wont be taht easily to be replaced when you say ethereum will overtake its place, but instead ethereum will follow the price of bitcoin if it will rise. I think personally if this is the truth because all cryptocurrency structures are built on bitcoins. Bitcoin has established more ground than there and I think it will definitely remain the main currency of cryptocurrency. bitcoin will remain forever because there is a coin like Ethereum that also has the ability like bitcoin. Ethereum is good but it never can take the place of Bitcoin. Bitcoin is the king of the market and it is the very first digital currency. Though the market price is low now but soon it will recover.

Current market situation might look like very much vulnerable to unexpected changes in the coin rankings but thats not possible to happen.Everyone knows that bitcoin is backed up by more investors as compared to the ETH. The ETH is having big competitors like EOS, NEO, Waves in line now a days. This can be very disturbing for the ETH market if any case ICO started preferring those alternate platforms for cheap prices. That a possibility!

In case of bitcoin, everyone knows its unique and there are no other platforms to disturb its roadmap. For sure new developers will keep developing this kid into giant leader in coming years. But that doesn't mean ETH will eat it out in between.

ethereum is one of those projects that got big only because of hype and nothing else. and we have seen this at least 5 other times with a dozen different altcoins which come out yearly, get hyped up, get pumped, then eventually since hype always go away they get dumped and destroyed.

ethereum is too broken to be able to overtake anything in this market. its market capitalization is huge because it is fake. it has more than 70 million coins in premine which is contributing to about $35 billion of fake market cap and then there is the fact that ETH is currently pumped and is in a bubble. if the bubble bursts we should see another $40 of its market cap vanish and it go back down to $5 billion market cap. if then you remove the fake premine supply you will have a $3 billion market cap coin which is the real value of ETH at less than $100

in my view there's a big difference between both crypto currency "btc and ethereum" if we compare both value , which is even there's a worst situation for me there's still no potential of ethereum to over take bitcoin . I strongly agree with you that bitcoin will remain the best crypto and it is here to stay. Ethereum is also a very good coin but it cannot overtake bitcoin because the bitcoin worth more than its value.

now, Ethereum quietly rose to restore position in second place last week was displaced by Ripple based on Coinmarketcap. And based on data taken from Bitcoin.co.id, Ethereum experienced significant price increases, and indicated the condition of the heavily traded market volumes,for to see bitcoin prices may not be impossible for ethereum..right now.

For now i feel btc will stay superior hands down because eth has alot of catching to do if it wants to be #1 which means they need to upgrade their blockchain so that it will be faster to send.

Fake? Pre mine is fake to you? Ethereum conducted an ICO and the devs got money thanks to the pre-mine, it doesn't mean it's fake. Plenty of coins have pre-mine. Bubble? What bubble, the market already crashed, are you living in 2017? The real value of ETH should be much higher simply because so many tokens depend on it.

I agree with you that the real value of ethereum should be higher as 80 to 90% of the token on the market uses ethereum Blockchain. But as per OP topic I think ethereum will not overtake Bitcoin. Bitcoin have total supply of 21 million out of with 17.2 million have Been in circulation and still 3.8 million of Bitcoin still to be mined.

Looking at it based on supply only is meaningless. What matters to me is the real value of the token/coin. Honestly bitcoin itself doesn't have much intrinsic value right now, you can use it as a store of value but it's extremely volatile.

I don't think Bitcoin would be the number 1 forever in the market. Ethereum is also a great player in the market, which is coming second to bitcoin right now. Ethereum may surpass bitcoin because of the services it offers and it is considered to be more stable than bitcoin. However, these two are not just the main players in the market. Take into account NEO, EOS, Ripple, and a lot more. All these coins have different projects and objectives, and it is really a competition between their values and stability.

I don't think so. Bitcoin is destined to become the champion of cryptocurrency. Ethereum is only the most valuable coin in its branch.

There are not the same number of supporters of the ETH as bitcoin is having as of now. If ethereum could overtake bitcoin don't you think it should have happened already? And since it has not happened I think we can safely say that it will not happen, there are many competitors coming that could take some of the market cap away from ethereum and that will be the final blow for the aspirations of the ethereum developers and those holding ethereum to take down bitcoin from the top spot.

I have also noticed the decrease of Bitcoin dominance and the subsequent increase of Ethereum's market cap and price in general (think past few weeks). I do hope that an increase in Ethereum interest will not be a detriment to the Bitcoin market cap and price as I have noticed that drops in Bitcoin price tend to echo through the whole cryptocurrency market and cause all prices to lower.

More importantly, the short-term wild price surge has been supported by ICOs using Ethereum.As more ICOs join the race to make mega millions, Ethereum will go much higher. Have a  possibility to overtake Bitcoin by market cap.

A lot of speculation has been made on the Bitcoin vs Ethereum race.

And the only thing i'm certain is that no one can be certain.  Given the undeniable fact that the economy of cryptocurrency remains largely volatile, any coin can tumble down anytime and any coin can shoot up to the moon with no restrictions.

Yet again, demand will usually dictate the value of one, i think bitcoin will remain on top for a bit more longer period of time.

On my mind all things will stay on its places and it wouldn't be too dufficult to used to work with it for users who just started to work in cryptocurrency field. In my mind it would be quite simple.

It could be said Bitcoin is here to remain as number one cryptocurrency. Ethereum will be the second, of course, the value of Bitcoin compared to other altcoins seems to be decreasing, that's because the cryptocurrency world is increasing exponentially every day.

Bitcoin really is here to stay. It will dominate the market for a long time to come and ethereum will just remain a second behind it. Even though the ethereum blockchain is very good and there is alot of adoption that seems to be going on with the project, there is no way that the coin can catch up with bitcoin, it will take it years to get to the point that bitcoin is now.

People who do not believe in bitcoin, criticize it by calling a bubble which is about to burst. This is really funny. Some people say bitcoin is died. They don't understand bitcoin is here to stay and live long rather than to die.

Some do that in order to create FUD but some do it out of ignorance, they do not understand why anyone would like to use gold or bitcoin as their currency when according to them fiat works so well, but they will understand eventually when the biggest crisis in history hit us but by then it will be too late and they will be the ones crying for a redistribution of the wealth gotten by bitcoin and gold investors.

Ethereum can't overtake Bitcoin because Bitcocin is the parent of all cryptocurencies.

Ethereum also learned from the existence of Bitcoin, and you can see now if Bitcoin rises, altcoins also rises in price.
If Bitcoin falls in price then Altcoin spun down the price.

Bitcoin is the father of all coins and the market cap is too far from eth. I dont think it will be take over by ethereum.

I just don't see anyway that bitcoin can last longer than one more year.
It's just too old and has too many problems.
Global markets would never use a tech that is slow, expensive, and resource consuming when there are better options out there.

I think last year december really showed btc's limitations.
It hasn't even come close to being used mainstream yet and at it's all time high, the blockchain was basically unusable.
At it's peak in early January, we were looking at $20 transaction fees and hours of confirmation time.

On top of that, the btc blockchain consumes more energy to maintain than some small countries.
It's just simply unsustainable.

Naturally, it looks like eth is set to overtake btc eventually.
But a year from now, I think we will see two to three dominant coins rather than just one.

Bitcoin, certainly, still has a lot of room for improvement, but with initiatives such as the Lighting Network, among others, it shows that there is a will to improve the currency.

Can't deny the fact that there's a lots of negative side in terms of usabilities of this coin, but being overthrowned by another project which still relying from the popularity of Bitcoin will still be another question, time can only tell if things will happen any soon.

I think it will be impossible to overtake bitcoin. With the popularity it made, it's really far ahead of everything. Plus the community. You can't beat the first

 The crypto always remains in the market. I think bitcoin maintains its balance. Bitcoin prices are currently decreasing, it does not bother, Bitcoin has gained a lot in the 2017/12 months, I think ai better price increases. The crypto members always want this market to be a good place. So I think the day is coming.

Etherium prices have been rising for a few days, it's good, many crypto members are happy. Many say that etherium will rise from bitcoin, I think it is not possible, etherium will always be the 2nd choice, but etherium prices are increasing. It's good. I want this market to be better.

Bitcoin and ethereum are here to stay, we know that bicoin is the leader of crypto and even ethereum is so popular now, there is no way that it can overtake bitcoin because they are both popular in their own crypto style.

presently, Ethereum discreetly rose to reestablish position in second place a week ago was uprooted by Ripple in view of Coinmarketcap. Also, in view of information taken from Bitcoin.co.id, Ethereum experienced huge cost increments, and showed the state of the intensely exchanged market volumes,for to see bitcoin costs may not be unthinkable for ethereum..right now.

I think Ethereum will achieve great success in future but anyway Bitcoin will remain #1 i guess. It is very popular in the world and many people know about it.

Bitcoin will definitely keep being the king of the cryptocurrency market as there is no other that is near it's value and reliability, even thought there are a lot of projects that seems to be more useful on the daily life.

Obviously, bitcoin is dominant crypto currency and I don't think it will overtake by ethereum. Well, we can't deny the fact that somehow the downfall situation we can concluded that bitcoin will overtake but it's just the same trend of ethereum that will rely to the market.

I buy now ethereum and bitcoin 50/50. They are equally strong. In addition, the capitalization of ethereum exceeds 50% of the capitalization of bitcoin. This is a very big indicator against the backdrop of a huge number of strong altcoins.

Bitcoin is not going away. It will become stronger day by day. But the only coin that can challenge this is Ethereum. Ethereum is really stable these days and any day can go for a bull run.

Ethereum is never going to take the spot of bitcoin at the top, it has simply too many flaws that cannot be ignored in order to become the leading coin in the market, to begin with the supply of bitcoin is limited while the supply of ethereum is not, this makes bitcoin the perfect store of value while ethereum is the same as fiat when it comes to how much ethereum it will exist.

Agree with bitcoin is here to stay. It is the strongest and most popular coin in the market. Ethereum is strong too but I dont think it will overtake bitcoin sooner or later.

for now eth can't do anything, just survive is good enough for eth. but we must know that the btc market will not be taken by any coins or tokens.

Bitcoin has full power to stay, and ethereum will always be below and remain with a value that will increase even if only a little.
Ethereum still has power and as the king of the ICO will still be used.

Bitcoin is here to stay and i am convinced of that.
Although ethereum is my favorite altcoin, i still think he will not make it.
Maybe he'll stay number two forever, but thats still a good thing.

If it's better for me to stay on both. Since both coins is very good opportunity for us. Maybe not now, but in the future. Therefore, I still remain for both. Both the ethereum nor bitcoin is equally a great coin.

bitcoin will still be the best and would not even anyone could move it. ethereum alone also can never approach the value of bitcoin because that quality is much different. even as the best altcoin but not as good as the system bitcoin. so bitcoin will remain and be the best.

No way Ethereum is taking over from Bitcoin.  It looks like Ethereum is having trouble holding it together.  I think Bitcoin is a solid #1 and nothing is close or even in the ballpark of taking over. 

We have same opinion that ethereum will rise and the bitcoin will be at the stable price, thats why im investing now on eth.

Bitcoin will be bitcoin and there's none token that can replace nor surpass in all fields

I doubt that Ethereum can outstrip Bitcoin. He will follow, bitcoin will remain on top. It's my opinion

While there is no doubt that ethereum has many flaws at the same time it is as if people forget that ethereum is the second coin in terms of market cap and it is one of the most successful coins in this market, so surviving alone is not good enough for a coin like ethereum it still needs to thrive even in the current market conditions, and I have no doubts that ethereum is going to eventually recover so an investment in it right now is a good choice.
