The title is misleading. I do no think that 2018 was the year of alt-coins but bear in mind that we are in June, which means there are another six months within which a lot can change, so I would not go and judge ahead of time, as I think it will be a great year. 

We are 2018 now, so if you say 2020 will be the best year for altcoins I wonder where your predictions is coming from. However I believe the end of 2018 will be the most decisive year for the cryptocurrency space. Mcafee had already changed his decision to eat his dick because of the so much regulations in the crypto market.

I think 2018 is not the year of Altcoin. We are now in the middle of 2018, but Altcoin has yet to show it will explode. There remains no significant increase from Altcoin. The situation is fairly normal. I think this year is still held by Bitcoin.

2018 winter is long gone for me here in Europe, late December winter I consider to be 2019 winter.

Judging by the prices on our altcoins 2018 is the year of their fall. I never thought I was that aware of many of my tokens will drop in 10 times. 2018 is not the year of altcoins, it's the year of the falling bitcoin. so it will be more correct to say. The year of altcoins will come when bitcoin ceases its decline and begins to grow.

It happens ro very altcoins every year since there are altcoins out there. For instance do you remember PayCoin - XPY which was 4th market capitalization in january 2015 ? it had 40M market cap then, costed $3.20/0.015 BTC, I guess not because now it worths almost nothing @ 0,0000033 BTC and has no more trading volume. There are many new coins born everyday but also many coins dying as well the main difference is that they are proliferating at a greater pace than ever before  :D

So yes, be careful when you invest but don't be afraid to take some risks sometimes  :D

Well it's not like just altcoins are getting dumped Bitcoin is getting dumped too. Of course after a full year of bull market we are going to see an extended period of bear cycle. And even if the price would still be at $3000 in the year 2020 John McAfee isn't going to do anything no matter what he said.

I don't know if 2018 will be the year of the Altcoins, there are far too much of them. I think there will be a time when lots of Altcoins are sorted out, there are lots of useless ones only trying to gain money for the devs starting a new ICO.
Only a few projects will survive and I'm not sure whicht projects will be that.

By investing in Bitcoin you'll know what you have and Bitcoin is already well-konwn and accepted.

There is just too much wasted money in different altcoins who don't even give a shit about their investor. Also, those who are just in for the money and not the project. This should be all put into trash and just be buried somewhere where no one can revive it again. If it will just be resurrected then it go get some victims again.

People should get used, many people only heard about bitcoin and ether, but they do not suspect the existence of others. Not really. I think that 2018 will go down in history as the most stagnant year. All that we see for 6 months is the price drop. The huge growth of useless numbers of ICO's and outflow of money to fraudulent schemes.
If people invested only in good projects then the market would grow rapidly. And what we see now is just a farce. Many invest in a bubble, and this negatively affects the entire market.

Hopefully it will be more regulated than it was before . I mean like ICO's without transparent team behind project is not allowed to collect funds . There is actually quite alot of them . If they dont do ICO its fine for me , but when projects like that try to collect funds without listing your name , surname and other team members its quite funny . And the funniest part is that people throw in money there . And after that people runing around telling that crypto is scam . From like 50-100 Altcoin projects i like only 5 or 6 of them and thats it .

I hope this will be the great year for not only for the altcoins but also for the whole crypto currencies. There are many people around the world who only recognize bitcoin and ethereum as crypto currency and only small percentage of people knows about the rest of the coins so I doubt this will be the year of altcoins but I think it will take few years for altcoins to get some attention like bitcoins and ethereum.

Looking at the current market situation and analyzing the last 6 months, I don't believe that 2018 could be the year of altcoins as to justify this statement at least the major market cap altcoin should shown have growth but nothing like that till now. It will be quite impressive to see, how the coming 6 months will play their role in the development of altcoin market. I think this is not the year of all altcoins. I think ethereum can do but other altcoins? I don't think that they can compete in bitcoin which is still the king of crypto. In 2020 there is a possible to win in bitcoin if they have many changes or progress in their system.

Yes 2018 is the year of altcoins, coz there's alot of ICO that was created and soon to be more addicted. I'm pretty sure you have different altcoins out there. We need to support bitcoin so all alts will follow the same.

Weak projects should be forgotten, this is normal. The main thing is that quality projects grow and develop, and the price will grow.

So many new altcoins have come out and the ones that were left in the market seem to be doing well. Following the success of bitcoin, the crypto market has grown over the time. Hundreds of new coins popped up in the years 2017 and 2018 without any regulations. Some of them have already failed, while others are struggling. I think those projects that do not have genuine purpose to offer will diminish. Honestly a lot of pure PoW coins are getting attacked by these 51% attacks (one entity controlling 51% and over the hashing power and being able to double spend the currency)
I am starting to look at hybrid coins having both PoW and PoS processes so that those mining the coin, attempting to control 51% of the hashing power also has to complete with people staking.

So far I have only come across one coin that has this and it's also a privacy coin running on TOR, Deeponion, it's also trading on some relatively reputable exchanges like kucoin and soon going to be listed on some Tier 1 exchanges too.
Please let me know if there are any other hybrid POW/POS coins out there as they will maintain trust with it's users.

2018 is indeed the year of altcoins as ICO projects come on stream and most of them are ICO scam. But it contributes little to the increasing number of altcoins in the market. And I hope that at the end of 2018 the exchange rate will rebind and altcoins will rise again of exchange rates.

2018 has become a bad year for the entire cryptocurrency market. Despite the fact that many countries have started to support cryptocurrencies, scammers and whales still cause severe damage to cryptocurrencies.

Hi, I think that 2018 is a bearish year and a year of panic and frustration in the ICO, but we hope that the end of the year will turn green.

Not possible to grow up than bitcoin. Ethereum is queen that's right but it can't overcome bitcoin. Bitcoin is king and it will be always king. No altcoin can't take place of bitcoin.

The subject is a bit misleading. Obviously, 2018 is not the year for alternate coin as it hits the very bottom in terms of price. Even if the bull run happened last January, it is hard for them to turn this around especially for Ethereum. I think its the lowest price I've ever experience for Ethereum and I doubt if it will recover this year.

2018 has been a though month as for me I don't think 2018 is a good Month for Alltcoin looking at the market all the coin are all down. Concerning 2020 no one knows what going to happen because most of the time prediction are sometimes wrong. 

This year was falling of all tokens. Next year I think there will be strong growth of all cryptocurrency market. All tokens will grow.

As I saw in the last reviews if we will see BTC dominance less then 50% it will mean altcoins growth stage. I'd like to see this time but it not yet confirmed. And I don't sure that it will continue long time. Alts don't so solid today

Yes, I agree 2018 This is the first Altcoin. Therefore, such coins as ethereum, neo, dash, litecoin, ripple became very popular. I am sure that these coins will not let you forget about yourself for a long time. Soon all altcoins will increase in price.

2017 was definitely an altcoin year and 2018 has definitely been a Bitcoin year (or a nothing year since everything's plummeted in value). But I think maybe next year or 2020 we'll really see some alts take off again.

There  are so many altcoins hiking uo in prices in different exchanges. Just today, Yolocash, Sia cash coin, Bitcointoken and so many others went up high.. i believe the market has gotten its breakthrough

I believe that everything is really unpredictable. The altcoin is now really affected with the huge dip that we are now experiencing. But year 2018 is not end yet there are still a time to rise. But I think it is always depend on bitcoin bull run and I think no one knows when bull run occur on market so for now I believe that no one knows about what coin will be the best on year 2018.

I think the Altcoins market in ICOS campaigns will only be good in the last months of the year. Bitcoin will increase again in the last months of the year and keeping Altcoins or Bitcoin for the year-end is reasonable for investors.

2018 is a year of suffering, tears, butthurt, and attempts not to sell the rest coins in a rage! Awful year! Hopefully, the bear market will end soon, and we shall drink champagne and go out on our yachts next year.

I think it's appropriate if this year belongs to Altcoin. because in the market it is clear that altcoin actually maneuvers better than bitcoin, the movement of its value always occurs, even though it is still up and down. while bitcoin is still stable and has not shown a sign of a significant increase.

I will not consider the year of 2018 to the year of altcoins because 2018 is not the year of crypto. Crypto trading is totally ruined in this year and we havenot seen any bullish period in 2018 I think this year is the worst for both bitcoin and altcoin.

I disagree with that, some altcoins drop x10 from it's all time high and that is too much if we are not accustom to the market trends.
Bitcoin only drop from 20K to 6K, and that is acceptable for me, and also it's not a big issue because it has happen before.

2018 is the year of Altcoin but the worst one, not the good one. Thousands of investors lost their money in this year and they will remember this year till the end of their lives. Some people bought bitcoin for more than $18000 and in the start of this year the price collapsed and they lost almost $13000 in one bitcoin and also lost big money in Altcoin. Ethereum price also dropped about $500 which is also a big amount for small investors.

Now we understand that the year 2018 was very unfortunate for cryptocurrency compared with 2017. But I hope that the situation on the cryptocurrency market will improve.

Ha-ha! Sad, but true... There were a lot of ICOs in 2018, and a lot of bad coins have appeared. 95% of them are trading below the ico price, because the team doesnt make anything to keep their tokens!

2018 is like a year when cryptocurrency purged all the anti cryptocurrency element out of cryptocurrency ecosystem. Those that are looking for quick buck were disappointed and had to leave cryptocurrency!

for now the best option is to remove the token 35% and hold it 65%, this forgets the steps to anticipate the value of the token up, and down

It is always altcoins year but somehow the market goes in other way that the communities didn't expect. So far we are closer to December  which means still we are waiting of the pump because it is long enough of waiting. I hope the pump happens sooner to have a smile in our face.

2018 is almost gone. If we are saying 2020 is a year of alt coin. Because there is a no chance for high increase in price. So,I will wait for that time when price is high..

Not really, the only time that the year has been the year of altcoins was in january and in mid january all of that changed, because all of them are suffering right now. Basically this is the year of the bear, all of the altcoins have been taking hit after hit. The only good thing that has happened to the altcoins is all of the exposure that they have been gettting

Your title and content are actually not related to each other. Because altcoins's price mostly following bitcoin's price. So we need to see the growth of bitcoin first.

So far that is the trend we follow, at this time, we need bitcoin to rise in order to end this year to be a good year for altcoins.
No one in altcoins market can beat bitcoin since it's holding the dominance of over 50%, not even all altcoins combine, in addition there are p2p transactions that are not added in coinmarketcap, mostly it's bitcoin transactions.

I think the year 2018 is and was the worst year for cryptocurrency as the year is marked by regulations. Many coins dropped in prices. But one good thing is those coins that fail to compete were dumped. But the year 2019 will come with much vigor and the market will go up again. So lets hope and be positive about crypto. 

Different investors have different perceptions about altcoin's condition this year. With regards to its progress, the fall down of most cryptocurrencies outweighs the healthy progress of some so i think this year is more of a crisis to crypto than calling it a year for them.

I don't think so, this year all the coins have decreased as well as the altcoin, and until that time no one knows but certainly when the time comes of course all the coins will rise again of course through the phase

That time is the time that we are all waiting, that is why the word HODL was invented because those who believe will hold for life.
With this kind of mentality, it could make us rich or will result to a loss of investment but as long as we invest what we can afford, this would not hurt our future.

I think that 2018 is rather difficult, but I don't think that we should leave crypt. Some new perspective altcoins appear   I believe that 2019 will be more profitable.

Anyway. Maybe in terms of roi most alt projects didn't fare that well this year. However, there are many projects that went through tremendous growth and some even were quite rewarding for investors even in these times. I hoped 2018 would have the year of main net usage, but it was the year of main net implementations only. Hopefully next year we see a huge increase in real world use of all those main nets and I think you shouldn't judge too quickly...

2018 was the worst year for altcoins, but I also can remember that at the beginning of this year, everybody predicted that Ethereum will overcome Bitcoin and that altcoins will reach the new price records and so on. At the end, the most stable coin was Bitcoin with a huge market dominance.

Definitely not. it is year of stable coins. i can vount 5+ stable coins appeared this year, but liquidity is still low.

Well, as of today we can say that 2017 is the best year of crypto, but if we talk 2018, we can not say what to happen, we still have two months to go to end this year, and we should remember how crazily market growing and pumping way back 2017. So let this year 2018 end and that's the time we can say what year is the best.
