It was a reward in the BTC, that people offered for doing different jobs. Possibly hard to find the first signature threads because they would be under a different subtopic. There is always an advantage in being the first. It would be hard to compete against this forum because it just wouldn't have the history. It is probably both made the forum more and less successful. Less successful in the quality of posts (and more moderation work) but more successful in terms of visibility. More users = larger pool of good post as well but just harder to find. The primedice campaign would still probably be the longest running campaign. And only the Bitcointalk staff could participate in it. Payment was small. No, absolutely wrong. There were earlier instances in 2011 of people renting out their signatures for btc... I narrowed my search to marketplace section as it was one of the earliest board in this forum. Went to the last page and spent around 3-4 hrs searching for a very old 'Signature space for rent' post. Then I found out a post of member "kiba" offering his sig space for rent for 5 btc. I can't find a post earlier than this which were renting out their signatures. Most probably there were only technical discussions taking place during satoshi period and once he left this virtual world, slowly the forum was occupied with spams and members started to become greedy.I am sure campaigns like ritzgrandcasino tempted people to become spammers as they paid a maximum of 3k posts per month. :o Quote RitzGrandCasino (thread) Payment period: Monthly, 1st of each month. Well it's definitely common enough to the hoards of people coming here with only, the prospect of earning, not learning in mind. It is funny that in part due to the idea of not monetizing the Forum from an admin standpoint, the members have monetized it on an individual level. Also I would recommend using the date format I used here. It is consistent with the date format used in the forum. US writes 7/1/2018 UK writes 1/7/2018 so dates can get confusing in numeric format. |
