I believe the strength of the coin lies not only in technological innovation, but mostly in the community around it.

So where is the coin? Also what is the difficulty retarget time? After the two fail launches of Dopecoin and Macrocoin today this detail is very important.

The diff retarget is 90 blocks - 1.5 hour. This is enough to prevent difficulty oscillation, at the same time keeping instamine scenario at bay.

This coin is an answer to the flood of so-called 'shitcoins'.
An honest coin, build with community in mind. This is a rarity nowadays.
Flappy Bird is just a symbol of the idea that people have got extraordinary power in shaping the reality.

I understand the skepticism, but this is NOT another spamcoin.
There is a lot of work put into the FBC at the moment, starting from the services around the coin to proper infrastructure for launch.

The launch will not happen sooner than next week. There is still a lot of development and testing to be done - we want a 100% successful start (not like in case of some other coins...). Thanks for pointing this out though - I made the announcement more clear.

We are definitively looking for people willing to contribute to the launch - it is all about community after all.

After a livid discussion, we decided to make some changes to the coin.
First of all, we all know that Flappy Bird has been abandoned by developer, however to avoid any potential copyright issues in the future (we are here for a long haul!), coin name has been slightly changed to FlappyCoin [FLP]. We are still 100% faithful to the Flappy Bird spirit though. We also need a new, proper logo!

Second thing: we absolutely want this coin to succeed and realistically cannot fund its growth completely by ourselves. Hence, a difficult decision was made to premine (yes, an ugly "p" word!) 1% of the coin. HOWEVER, all of the coins gathered that way will be used for bounties, faucets, giveaways, coin promotion etc - they will be distributed among the community. The premine will NOT serve as a way for developers to get some quick buck, these coins will NOT be dumped on the market. We will do our best to engage community in the coin and make sure as many people as possible can benefit from the initial coin distribution. We also announce first bounties now (please see revised OP).

This is not our github, this poor guy seems to be just a copycat. The original true FlappyCoin is still in development - we are absolutely on track.

150 is a very low amount considering a 1,000,000 pre-mine and that there are 50 FLP per block :) 5000FLP or more and I'll do some work on it.

150 FLP in fact might look low, but we have to be careful how we distribute the coin. We have some great giveaway plans in the pipeline. However, I believe you are right - 5000FLP sounds reasonable if the logo is of good quality.

FlappyCoin is just inspired with Flappy Bird, it is actually more about simple and creative idea than money this guy made.
We are here for a long haul, this coins will not be another pathetic pump and dump clone - I assure you.

Yeah so they make a bot for it? Dumbest idea ever, they are the first to launch this coin, most likely going to get sued, but thats not the point at the moment, they should make this perfect because since this was released people who also was going to release this backed out. Now that they have gotten the chance, don't fuck this coin up as this will get as popular as doge, even more.

OK, we are speeding up development as there is a lot of demand for the coin, the are even some fake clones(!!) out there (using our coin specification and referring to our website).

These guys refer to our website (www.flappycoin.org) on their github - we have got nothing to do with them, they just essentially stole our idea.

It is quite sad that we announced our coin well ahead of time to give everyone chance to participate and this clone suddenly pops out of nowhere... :(
Don't support this fake coin: no fair launch at all (goes against all our principles), it is likely premined to the extreme and it is just a straight dogecoin clone (same params, probably the best they could do).

The ORIGINAL FlappyCoin is still in development, ETA for release is this weekend (15-16/02)

NOTHING from the "premine" will be going to us, ALL will be given to the community. We have got some innovative faucet in development and need this premine to make it sustainable.

It is actually quite simple. We announced the projects ahead of time (I know it was a mistake now) - wanted to be fair with community. They decided to use our name and release a half-baked 100% DogeCoin clone before us...

They even tried to steal our identity. They changed most of this stuff now, but their readme on github still refers to our www.flappycoin.org website!

This is retarded. Two flappycoins. I suggest you take down this project or rename it to something else not because I like the other one best but it will hurt this one as well as the other one, leading to confusion and both will be going nowhere. You have more chances if you renamed it to something else. Just something to consider.

Also This is not the " original " flappy btw. I don't understand how you claim yourself to be one. It's bound to have more than one developer thinking about releasing a flappy-inspired coin.

Winner comes first, you can't blame that someone stole your ideas while your coin don't any something special except late launch.

Why not rename it Fappycoin ? You know its catchy.

We are seriously discussing rename, however if we give up the name, it would be a bit like admitting defeat to these thiefs/scamers. They are unethical people with a very dubious morality and we do not want to "reward" them in any way.

Yep, It does suck.  But at this point, it might be the best option and you might come out still in a great position.   Re-branding, to set yourself apart.  Otherwise,  it's not good with 2 exactly the same.  Look at panda,  1 will always go away.  

This has a great logo and appears great devs,  just re-brand and launch with great features(a real coin, by real devs)  I bet it will do well, as you have some loyal users here.

Look at it like an iteration, not defeat.  I believe you are right in considering a rename.

If you don't rename your coin, your efforts in promotion may lead people to the pools of the 'other' Flappycoin and you will lose support. I applaud your tenacity in holding true to your vision but the truth is that "first movers" normally have and try to keep the upper hand and market share.

I suggest you use this hype to get your team together and use this as launch pad for a newly named coin.

I'm a notorious supporter of the crypto community, and I just now caught up on all the drama that's been going on with your coin vs. the 'fake' coin.   :o 
 
Let me give you some honest advice, and it's not going to feel good:  They have won. 
It's not fair; it's not right, but they have permissions to use the flappy name and have the 'flappy' motif going everywhere.  They even registered the subreddit before you www.reddit.com/r/flappycoin and they have captured your momentum.   
 
This fight is over, and now we have to face the truth: You worked hard on your coin, and it's not fair to give up now.  But you will be wasting your time to release this as 'flappy coin'. 
 
But I have an alternate solution for you because I like to be the good guy of the internet.

I am not a developer so I have no hope of ever launching my own coin.  But I know a good thing when I see it, and I can see you have done a lot of work with this one.  So don't give up; just rebrand. 
I have even gone ahead and registered the subreddit for you guys (www.reddit.com/r/candycoin) and the user name candycoin on Reddit. 
 
I'll happily give you full control of that subreddit if you decide that you want to go this route.  Branding is important, and so many good brand names have been taken already. 
I'm not asking for anything in return; I just hate to see you in such a poor situation! 
 
If you don't like CandyCoin, I have two more ideas for you to rebrand as.  Since the failure of Coinye, we are in need of another urban branded crypto.  Enter Bling, otherwise known as BlingCoin.

An update from us.

Because of this whole unfortunate situation with 'the fakes', we have been discussing the following options:

1. Release coin today as planned with FlappyBird name and see what happens. It is however unlikely many people would support our coin and it would create a massive confusion in the already confused crypto world.
2. Release the coin renamed to something similar (for instance FlappyBirdCoin). We would make ourselves 'copycats' this way though, it might be hard to get sensible support at this point.
3. Rebrand the coin and release something completely unique. This would kind of invalidate our work so far, but it is probably is the best plan if we want to be taken seriously and make something fresh in the community.

So we made a painful decision to hold the release and rebrand our coin completely. We are STILL IN THE GAME and actually plan to deliver something really fabulous. We are not going to rush the coin and got plenty of ideas.

We are not going to disclose anything more at this point (you all know how it ends...), but I can assure you that the upcoming release from our (now former) 'FlappyCoin team' will be BIG.

Listen folks; I have been talking with these devs, and from what they have told me, their coin is going to be amazing.  It really will; I can't disclose some of the details they gave, but just from the technicals alone we are looking at a Top 10 (maybe 5?) coin here. 
 
I am working on a branding idea with them that isn't one of the ones I listed earlier (if you are interested in using those earlier branding ideas, please contact me and we will happily work together).  The brand concept I have for these guys though?  It blows those out of the water.  A game changer.   :D
 
I am working through some details now, and I hate to get everyone excited in this early of a stage (when it might not even be possible yet), but there's a chance that these devs and this coin might make internet history.

The funny thing is that both versions of Flappycoin are pretty much identical in terms of parameters (scrypt with 60 seconds block time and no new innovations).

If your only novelty is the name... maybe you shouldn't be creating a new coin at all?

So, once again.  The dev has some amazing technical things that haven't been done before.  Vertcoin 'succeeded' just based off doing some new and innovative in a technical sense. 
 
If combined with the right branding, this coin could go to space easily.
 
As we can see with the Flappy debacle though; not too much can be said publicly due to idea-thievery.   :P
