Anyone can call it ponzi scheme and fraud but if you think of it, everything worldly is fraud. You buy apple products with thousands of dollars but how much are they really worth? Why would people give out thousands of dollars for a macbook when they can buy a laptop for $300? Is it really worth that much or is it just another ponzi scheme that apple is bringing to the world better gadgets than any other brands? So we're talking about bitcoin now. What are we really paying for when we buy bitcoin? We pay for an online program and the people running the program helping transactions go through, or we call mining. Miners put in so much time and most especially the cost of mining is so much. That is merely the reason why bitcoin will cost much and if incase it will dive too low and will not be enough to pay for miners, then that could be the time bitcoin will die, or not.

The fact is that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, that they call Bitcoin a ponzi scheme doesn't change any thing about the originality of Bitcoin. Such people have little knowledge about how the Blockchain technology works, they need to be enlightened

They expected to be better off the moment they invested in but the idea of bitcoins is not as they think, hence they will tag it as a ponzi scheme or fraud.

people who call bitcoin as either fraud or ponzi scheme has no in depth understanding regarding cryptocurrency. but once they fully understand it, they will love crypto at all angles. a lot are still beginners or just starting to know bout crypto, so expect various opinions arising, good or bad perspectives. you know better if you are a crypto user for so long. so you know what crypto can do to humanity.

we buy bitcoin for a profit, but the profit model is not a fraud or ponzi scheme. and bitcoin does not have such a concept.

People call bitcoin fraud because when they first head about bitcoin they doesnt know anything. Lack of knowledge about cryptocurrency and they should understand really about this blockchain technology. If they truly understand this technology people cannot called this ponzi scheme.

People think that Bitcoin is a ponzi scheme because the old investors earn from new investors. They are wrong. They do not have the knowledge how Bitcoin works. Bitcoin's price is based on the law of demand and supply. Bitcoin is decentralized and no one is controlling it.

Many people here in Philippines that Bitcoin is scam. This happened when there is a group offers a fake investment, that you will actually get 5% of your investment every week. After a few months, the group dissapeared. The news getting all over in the Philippines media. After that, some people here said that dont trust in bitcoin.

Those who call bitcoin are ponzi schemes and cheaters, they do not really know bitcoin well. I, you and many others still invest in bitcoin to make a profit and we all see it is not cheating and not ponzi. Whatever it is depends on how we think

Some people call bitcoin as ponzi scheme because of those who are using bitcoin to scam people. There are lot of investments that use bitcoin and promises a good profit. But in the end it turn out to be a scam. That's why if you ask some people about bitcoin, they will answer you that it is a scam or ponzi scheme.

There is a term there is no price of goods, when we buy expensive goods, surely it is certain that the goods are good, classy and high enough value. Those MacBooks and iPhone have got uses and premium products priced accordingly. BTC has not got as much real use as them but it is being used for payments and all.

Sometimes this people who have known nothing says everything and sometimes creates word they believe isn`t the truth. However, every one of us is good at making judgments but since it is easy to create out of believing certain generalization; we tend to critic things we didn`t know. These people should be taught that it isn`t all that they heard would really be the truth; sometimes truth reminds us of what is important and necessary. This happens when there is a loss through cryptocurrencies, particularly people have  a blind expectation to profit big getting into bitcoin. With this mind they get inside and gets caught under the traps of people who use bitcoin as a tool to scam the people. People are doing this as a way to discredit bitcoin, it's an attempt to try to kill something that they #1 don't know about and #2 Don't want to thrive. People only needs proper explanation on how bitcoin works and how bitcoin used to scam thousands of dollars which has nothing to do actually in bitcoin itself its only a digital currency using blockhchain I think one reason to create bitcoin is to eliminate this kinds of frauds in online space not to used it to known Ponzi schemes.

Most of the people who call bitcoin a fraud or ponzi scheme never owned a crypto. Or those who FOMO and got rekt on ATH w/o doing research on the volatility of the market.

Bitcoin is a fraud or a ponzi scheme has been out there for a while now but to be honest fewer and fewer people are thinking that way. I think the only way we can beat this thinking is by properly educating people on how the block chain technology works and what Bitcoin is, what is the purpose of Bitcoin and what are the benefits of getting into crypto currency. Now if the people you are trying to teach does not change their mind then let them be. Sooner or later they will realize that they are wrong about crypto currency.

Ponzi schemes have a portfolio manager of the Ponzi and they guarantee returns to investors. Bitcoin does not guarantee any returns and there is no central operator that controls Bitcoin. The head of the Ponzi is the one that profits, but who is the head of Bitcoin? And where are the promised returns? Because of that, Bitcoin simply cannot be a Ponzi scheme.

Well its not new if people will call bitcoin a fraud or a ponzi scheme because people have different perspective.If there is money involve its normal that people always think in negative ways like it is a scam/fraud because they were too afraid of getting fooled.Thats why instead of grabbing the good opportunity they actually missed it because of those mindset.Lack of knowledge misunderstood everything.

The amount of people that I have met that think bitcoin is some kind of fraud or some kind of ponzi scheme is just alarming. Mostly when I meet people like this I do my best to educate them. You are right, the only reason that people are calling bitcoin a fraud or a ponzi scheme is because they do not understand bitcoin and how it works. With more information, they will learn how it works and know that it is not a fraud.

There aren’t that much scammers to be honest and studies have shown that only a small percentage of bitcoin transactions are used for illegal activities. Your statement make a great point though. Many people asked me, if they buy bitcoin, what will they get? Since bitcoin doesn't have a shape, or not a thing. How can we be sure it will be worthy, not just scam, since we really don't get a hold of anything right?
It's kinda hard to answer that, since we're buying the technology, or maybe the intangible coin, that can be used as a payment, or investment. It's kinda hard to be sure, it's scam or not. But for me, as long as i still feel the positive benefit from bitcoin and don't think that it will do anything bad, i won't think it's a scam, but a worthy investment that can earn me profits.

I think those peole who call bitcoin fraud lack knowledge about what really bitcoin is. They should stop doing that because other people who are willinh to invest in bitcoin become hesitant.

People with no knowledge about bitcoin can call it what ever they want. It really does not affect the entire system and users. These people maybe was just scammed by others so they will do what others did to them. Maybe that is how life goes. Of course if for your own risk you need to do something not just believing what others say you need to do research.

Honestly its been a difficult task correcting the impression of some people on classifying bitcoin as a ponzi scheme, it is absolutely ridiculous to call btc a fraud when there is glaring proof of mode of its transactions with Google as a friend and with all the valuable information as regards btc well detailed there, I will continue to enlighten as many people that needs more clarifications in this regards.

Some people will not take their time to research about something before labeling it as fraud or ponzi scheme, the reason most people call it ponzi scheme is because the price is volatile.

BTC is not a ponzi scheme neither is it a fraud, though people tend to use it to carryout fraudulent activities but it is far from being a ponzi scheme. If it was a ponzi scheme then it would have crashed a long time a ago since most ponzi scheme are being controlled by some group of persons, but btc is decentralized there  by allowing every individuals to take responsibility for all their transactions. Now that to me is what makes btc outstanding.

In itself Bitcoins is not actually a Ponzi scheme, it falls under the same criteria as gold and therefore cannot be labeled as a scam. Others take advantage of naivety of certain bitcoin users and scam them by promising high returns on their investments.

Well I gess OP is pushing it to much on the example given, because we can't really call Apple a ponzy scheme because they do offer a top quality product, and people are not trying to get profit from the product. They pay that much for the product in order to use it, because they think they are worth that price.

I do think you are right when you ask what is the real price for bitcoin, and yes, we can't call it a ponzy scheme as well, because people should be able to put a value to bitcoin, and decide if they are worth that much or not. The problem right now, is that we can't really use bitcoin, and that's why we have so much speculation on these markets. We are paying based on a hope right now, and I guess that's why some people call it a ponzy.

People will always have different opinions and preferences but what I can say is that bitcoin is the reason why all other altcoins are existing in the first place. People that say that most likely have absolutely no idea how cryptocurrencies work. They are probably just echoing what some other uneducated person said. If they had any idea who our traditional money systems work, they would see that they are much worse than Bitcoin could ever be. Central banks just print out money from thin air. Then they hand it out to other banks with interest. There is literally no money to pay back the interest. The only way to pay back the interest is to borrow more money. It depends what you mean by mining. If you buy gear and connect to a pool and mine on your own - it is not ponzi. You will slowly earn something. Different question is profitability.
If you mean investing in online offers - there can be a ponzi scheme. There are tons of different websites that offer this. Most of them are scam sites that will just take money and wont give you anything.

The people calling bitcoin a ponzi  may have had one bad experience or the other but myself  I have not seen anything in bitcoin that warrant it to be classified  as fraud or ponzi. If it is the market manipulation which the so called whales are being accused of can only last for a period after which the market price will continue its movement.

Honestly, I'm finding it very hard to understand the link between Btc and ponzi schemes. Maybe I don't understand ponzi schemes but if I do, then I don't see why we should bother ourselves with this. Bitcoin is only about 10 years old and needs to be adjusted. I do not feel uncomfortable with other moves of the market, going up and down, it's normal and an investor will be willing to wait for the bitcoin to come back. I hope Bitcoin will have good news. I wouldn't blame anyone having such thoughts or mindsets especially since January 2018. So many hopes and dreams have been dashed cause of huge amount of fund invested in order to make big profits.

The thing is that if the bitcoin price goes too low then people will shut down mining bitcoin and then the cost of mining bitcoin will again go low, so the mining will again be profitable so the bitcoin will still not die even if the cost of mining is high then too there are a lot of backers of bitcoin which know that if the current cost of mining bitcoin is looking high then they will just sell enough coins to cover the electricity fees and will sell rest of the coins in future when mining bitcoins will again become profitable.

Since I started to use bitcoin as source of income way back 2016, I always read that bitcoin is only a ponzi scheme but still I continue to search on how to be able to earn more on BTC. Maybe there are times when I'm still  newbie that I got scammed by some doubler site but I don't stop to look for more ways to earn. I am not confident that I have a deep understanding about bitcoin but I am sure that it was not a fraud or Ponzi scheme. People who thinks that it was some kind of scam needs to be enlightened and open their mind about it. It was here for many years and many people already earn on it so how it become scam.

There are just misconception from people (who don't really have the knowledge of what really bitcoin is) who only heard bitcoin from other people who are also have negative thoughts about bitcoin and cryptos. Its a pyramid, where payment for miners in every new generation of coins released is halved. Therefore mining gets 2 times more pointless each time, eventually vanishing into zero.

It has value, because work is done in mining it.

I have asked at least 20 people individually about what they understand with bitcoin.  So surprising to find out that all they know is that bitcoin is scam.  It only leads me to the conclusion that it really needs to study and make research to something you didn't know before giving your point of view to something.  The fact that what they only see in TV news and social media are the bad side of bitcoin due to people using it for scams.  If people would just do their research about it, they would reconsider that bitcoin is not that bad at all.

Bitcoin obviously wasn't created as fraud or pyramid scheme and it was created with what I believe to be good intentions to make a new economic model for truly fair money, but unfortunately it does have some similarities with a pyramid/ponzi schemes and I can see why people make the comparison. Ponzis and pyramids are scams created by a fraudster with the intent of getting people to invest in something that doesn't exist. You could argue that bitcoin doesn't exist other than in code and the early adopters were the ones who benefited the most and for the model to keep going new money needs to keep coming in. If that new money stops coming in or most holders lose confidence and dump their coins then that could be catastrophic. Bitcoin could then collapse at that point and if that does happen then not only will bitcoin go down in the history books as a failure but many people will then refer to it as a scam/fraud and the new tulip mania and so on. I really hope that doesn't happen but it's something that would be out of our control.

If you are outside, then, it will be what you called it, if you are inside, and actively involved in it, it won't be to you. The level of exposure to it determines what you call it. As funny as it sounds, those that call it ponzi scheme have their points, and they are well proven. To me, ponzi or not, it has come to stay. No Ponzi scheme would survive this long.

Not exactly. Satoshi could, in theory, have mortgaged his Bitcoins and might have taken cash for it. In such a case those bitcoins would have never made it into the open market and would still be held with the private or institutionalized lender that would have given out cash for those coins.

This could have been done without even moving the coins outside of their original wallets, just sell the private key, hard drive etc etc IMHO It'd would be quite disastrous if all those original coins are actually held by someone who's not the real Satoshi. Such an individual would be more interested in cashing out their coins at a future high point of the market - something which the real Satoshi may not choose to do so. Idealistically.

Are you actually being serious here? If we're going with crazy conspiracies then Satoshi, in theory, could be an alien or the NSA. What you've just proposed is crazy and based on nothing, but even if it was true it doesn't change anything. Swap satoshi for the current holder and then ask yourself why he/they haven't cashed out any yet. The questions they asked at the time I was lured to  ponzi schemes where I lost so much money were; Where is the interest coming from? and What is the place of the funders in the whole structure? And I answered; Banks are ponzi schemes do you know that? You deposit your money with a bank, and they loan it out to someone else, while you never benefit from the interest on your money! Ponzi scheme's are pyramid schemes where you take from Mr. A and Give to Mr. B.Yes that's how they work and the banks aren't any different! The only difference between banks and other ponzi schemes is that banks are ponzis backed by the Government laws. Money just changes hands! $Bitcoin however is a comodity, that is subjected to economic laws of supply and demand! only impatient people lose money here; because everyone has the opportunity to make money! If I buy one bitcoin today at say $100000 and price falls to $10 technically I haven't lost, I lose only when I sell it at $10, If I am patient enough, someone gets to buy it from me tomorrow at $105,000 I have made a profit haven't I? But this isn't really true. Bitcoin isn't a magical money making scheme and there are no guaranteed returns here no matter how long you hold your money. Bitcoin isn't guaranteed to last forever and could well fall by many more thousands and never get back to the all time high or even where it is currently. What then? Keep holding in the hope that one day it will return again? Again, nothing is guaranteed with bitcoin no matter how long your are prepared to hold.

Well there will be everytime one calling Bitcoin a fraud or a scam, but this doesn't mean it is right. There are many haters of Bitcoin and we should be aware they are spreading misinformations.

They will always say that apple is backed up by a physical product, regardless of its true value. You gotta remember that what gives bitcoin its value is trust, not a physical thing, and that's hard to grasp for many people, specially since so many have been screwed before in ponzi schemes (lack of trust on their side), I'd say bitcoin is a long way away from dying from personal experience, and if the price is too low to pay for miners is because there are too many miners at any given time (look at china operations), at least that's what I think.

I would start by saying everyone has his or her own opinion about something. You would agree with me to a saying that says if you are not informed, you are deformed. People who call bitcoin a fraud or scam have no idea or clues how it works so therefore  they are quick at calling and labelling bitcoin a fraud, ponzi and scam. You would agree with me that if you really want to know more about something you go into research a d findings about that thing but the reverse is the case. bitcoin isn't a promzy scheme and doesn't have any feature of a promzy scheme, yes because i was a victim of a promzy scheme scam back then and from experience, i know how it works, and it's no way near how bitcoin is run, in a promzy scheme, there is a centralized account where members pay into, in other cases, members donate funds to one another within a given time frame of say 3 weeks, expecting a profit on investment of say 30%. Now bitcoin has no features relating to any of these, so calling bitcoin a promzy scheme is totally unreasonable.

Price might fluctuate a lot, but that neither ponzi or fraud, it's just volatility. History has proved that there are ups and downs . As long as there is nothing preventing the crypto currency from going bankrupt there is a good chance it will break ATH again , but it could take as long as 2022.

Yes, sorry to say that the percentage of such people is huge, but there are a few catches. Some of them invested in BTC or any other crypto to get rich quick - they had no heart to take the risks or they never thought there will be any losses. Also, a lot of Ponzy Scammers are out there telling that BTC or ICOs are a huge opportunity to get rich with slim chances of loss and everybody believes that they will be the winners as they has very little knowledge of investment.

Of course, because low prices can be a reason to think negatively because of lack of understanding of crypto, and I think if they understand crypto they will think otherwise. To me it has no sense because BTC and blockchain really differ from ponzi schemes, and even if it's some kind of a fraud then it must be really huge. I don't believe such frauds are possible.

There are many factors which leads to Bitcoin as Scam or Ponzi.

1) Its a Bobble No realistic value.
2) Problem with marketcap and value of BTC.
3) Distribution and circulation
4) Non regulated.

Bitcoin is nothing just a electronic tokens which can be held transact and generate electronically. There is no physical existence. Second most important thing is marketcap and price. BTC actually not acquire that much marketcap, its just assumed. Because when seller start selling price of BTC will be flatter down, but at the same time some whales making partial buying to take price to moon. Many newbies loss their equity due to such shit things.

I think the people who compare bitcoin to the Ponzi scheme have little studied the first pyramid scheme and how Charles Ponzi organized it. He was selling stamps that hadn't even been released yet. Bitcoin is different. We cannot purchase more coins than there are currently. The bitcoin distribution process can be verified by any owner of this coin. I think we should put aside the idea that this is a pyramid scheme.

Bitcoin is not a fraudulent investment scam since nobody owns it solely, and since nobody does, who promises a high ROI with low risk anyway?
