Knowing the crypto world was the best thing I have ever done. Today I was given an amount of $20000 by my uncle to make an investment for him at the bank so that by the end of the year he can get some additional money added to his capital. I sat down and calculated and found out that, investing at the bank will give him just $2000 interest.

I then called him and explain to him about cryptocurrency and how secured it is with evidences and it price increment for last year. After seeing it he told me to invest that amount into BITCOIN and I have done it for him. I know that is volatile and can fluctuate but I made time to explain to him that although the market is red now but when the green days come he will get not less thank $25000 added to his capital. I know I did the right thing and he will surely laugh some days to come. What do you think guys?    

I would also choose bitcoin investment over bank statement as I don't want my money to just stick with its current value right now, I want it to earn, and in bank investment they would just give you minimal interest with your money not even at least 1%.

You've made a mistake.

If what you say is true, and the bank can guarantee a 10% ROI, then you should have put at least 80% in there, and only 20% in to Bitcoin. Preferably you should have looked in to other fields as well, such as savings bonds or stocks and shares. Diversity is key.

As far as I'm concerned, you've made a good call. Sure, the market goes up and down, cryptocurrencies are volatile, but if you average the price over a longer period of time, it goes up steadily. The only question is how long your uncle is willing to wait before cashing out. If he is patient and can afford to wait, one year from today he may double his investment. No bank can give him that ROI.

know in the trading system there is also a loss, I suggest you can give direction to your uncle if this business can lose. because I see that your uncle wants an investment that really can grow the existing capital.be careful not only to see in terms of profit, know the risk that will happen.

If that 20000 dollar is all of his money, you have taken a bid risk. Never put all your eggs in one basket. You should put the only the money you can afford to lose. And note that making money is not that easy.

I'm quite sure that you have made a bright decision for your uncle. The question is whether your uncle won't bother you much because of impatient for the investment to yield good profit because he already knows what his profit will be if invested in the bank.

I think you should let your uncle understand the volatile nature of the crypto market and the possibility of the value of bitcoin reducing below the initial price you bought it. Investing in crypto is not always about the value of the coin and the potential gains you can make. You need to understand the market cap of the coin you are investing in and understanding cryptocurrency in general. Just like the stock market, prices of commodities increase or reduce.

It is risky to invest in both parties, but i know that bitcoin is not risky if you know in where you are storing your keys - buying your coins (and exchanging them) it is all a complex thing, but i would not invest on a bank fund neither.

Some rules of crypto-investment ;
1. Never invest in bitcoin using other's money or borrowed money.
2. Never show other's just a bright side of the crypto investment, they will blame you if market goes down.
3. Don't invest all of your or suggest other's to invest all of their savings in crypto, only invest what you/he can loss.
4. If I look at my portfolio, I am down by over 70% right now so better be cautious when it comes to crypto investment.

Maybe if we go back to the past I will invest more in bank bevause that time you can get high interest but mow only 1% that you will get. I much prefer now in bitcoin it was very profitable especially when it was pumping. You can earn here more and your money has a chance to double in just months. But remember that it was not always because bitcoin dumps to sometimes.

Well that is really a good idea but however it is a little bit risky compare to saving your money in bank because you can assure that it wont be lost but youll only earn small profit.In bitcoin you can earn big profit but I would spread to everyone that you invest to bitcoin because we all know that bitcoin value is volatile so it may rise or fall from time to time so much better if you will be the one to invest on it first and once youll earn big profit then thats the time youll spread it out but also remind them that bitcoin is risky.

If im given an opportunity that kind of capital i would also choose bitcoin investment, yes its risky and volatile but if you fully understand the cryptocurrency  and know how to manage for being volatile then surely you meet your goal.

You have made a little mistakes when it comes to investing. At the bank they can gurantee a 10% + ROI in a year well the thing with bitcoin is it’s really volatile. Yes we can speculate what if the price you were aiming for is non existent?

I choose also Bitcoin investment than bank investment, the advantage in bank investment are the money is secured from anything nothing to worry for the security  investment going to be hack

Yes you're right bitcoin can give you high interest without giving efforts like you need to fill up tgis document, you need to submit it to this date and also you need requirements and high amount of money in investing in banks but in bitcoin it makes our life easy because we do not need to pass requirements, we don't need to have an appointment and in bitcoin tge money we invest will surely grow.

Well, as to  whether it is good idea or not cannot be determined now. The market will tell but I will say it isn't too bad to suggest Btc to a family member. Once you explained the risk around it to him, I think you are good to go.

I would have invested 10k into banks and rest amount I would use for cryptos. Also I would diversify my crypto investment by investing in other altcoins as well. But yes, people have different risk taking capability so I sincerely hope you succeed!

Better ask for your uncle's forgiveness right away. You have explained how bitcoin works inaccurately. Bitcoin as an investment? How much it grew last year? How about the previous years? Did bitcoin always ended with an ATH every closing of the year?

I chose bitcoin investment over bank investment because bitcoin offer huge profit and anytime we can do some transaction with bitcoin. Bank only offers very low interest we are just like holding our money with nothing happen.

Yes you are right its more better and profitable to invest in bitcoin than bank because as i experience now for investing in banks i received a centimos interest every month so that i must prefer also I've most invest in bitcoin or cryptocurrency that banks but it is more risky to invest in bitcoin than the banks but we know bitcoin will rise again soon.

I think its a smart move, espeically wiht the current decrease in Bitcoin price its really at a bargain value compared with Bitcoins all time high. If I have enough fiat currencies to risk, I would also make a big investment on Bitcoins right now! Most of the crypto researchers says that Bitcoin will increase in price before the end of 2018. In 2017 it went from $950  to almost $20k, so it grew roughly 20 times.
A year before that? from 450 to 1000, so it doubled.
Also, you don't need an ATH every year to call it a great investment. Don't buy at the top and sell at the bottom and you'll do just fine.

Advantage of bank is your money safe but you can get only some profit. While the investment to bitcoin can get a lot of profit but it is very risky because possible to lose your money.

Crypto investments are secure? Are you kidding? What if crypto falls in one year and rise begins after two year? Will your uncle still trust you if his money won't be rised in one year? He will prefer to stay out of game as soon as possible.
Also where do you live? 10% bank return on deposits in USD somehow is hard to believe for me because USD is very stable currency and usually banks offer very low % on deposts in usd, euro and gbp.

I think investing in bitcoin is a smart thing, but be prepared for enormous volatility. Bitcoin will move more than most investments, so it requires a very tough stomach. I believe once the Lightning Network is completed, bitcoin will have a shot to go mainstream.

I agree to you, banks there is a lot of things you need to do before you can access or invest in banks, there is a requirements needed and appointments to attend before they entertain you and also you need to have a high amount of money before you can invest because they are also use tou to earn money, in bitcoin you don't need to have a appointments or to submit requirements to invest because butcoin created to be a helpful tool that can help people to earn, invest and grow your money.

I think best is to divide all investments into parts, for example 10k into bank and 10k into bitcoin , so if bitcoin will have red days, you still will earn some money.

definetly I agree invest at the bank have along process unlike to invest at bitcoin,,due to opening a bank account or applying for a credit card requires filling out long forms and signing contracts that never work in your favour. Bitcoin is free to use and accessible to anyone without limitations. Aside from that despite bitcoin are very volatile price ,,but if you have  patiently waiting  you have a great profit,unlike the bank that your initial investment capital will not increased more than your capital.

I didn't mean bitcoin will not go higher than what last year did. What I mean is don't just tell bitcoin is a great investment. Today's market is still affected by the hype made last year, so this bear market will stay for a while just like hibernation. If his uncle can wait a year of bear without having depress then great. I think that is a good news because it can affect bitcoin but I think you do not need to invest all of your money because there is a chance that bitcoin price decrease unexpectedly.

I hope you made a right decision and have patience to wait for the right time that the bitcoin will go green steadily for more than 50 percent in a span of less than 1 year, bitcoin market is weak at this time and it is lucky enough if it would recover at the end of this year and much better option is you diversify your investment like 50 percent to the bank and 50 percent to bitcoin that will be a lesser risk.

I believe you did the right decision investing in bitcoin. I would strongly suggest that investing in bitcoin should be considered long term process so that you can really see the wide range in the price adjustment. When the market is in down trend, be patient and do not ever panic at all as the fluctuations are really part of the bitcoins growth and considered normal.

With how slow your money moves in a bank, i don't consider it to be an investment. More on storage perhaps. Banks are safer for your money but interests will take years especially if you don't have that much in it.

I really can't say that what you did is wrong but I think it would be wise to also invest into banks because you have large capital in your hands and it banks is one of the safest investment with you. At least give a percent investment in bank though. I think you did a good call for investing now because Bitcoin's price has dump since February which I think this time of the month is the lowest we could see. If you are patient enough, you could triple or double your money in a year.

thats a good choice mate, for me, the interest from the banks are small to be added at the end of the year. but it is more secure and has a real interest to be added and get after the time,  im not saying that bitcoin is not secure, bitcoin is more secure among all crypto currency and thats true. and the interest that bitcoin can give to you is huge, when the time comes in green. double, triple or maybe quadrople to be get someday. and tell your uncle to have more patience and hold his bitcoin for almost 2-3 years to see a better/best result of his investment, because for now he cannot see his first profits at this time.

I think that by the end of the year Bitcoin will not cost more than 10K, so you will not get 25K profit, but in a short case it will be more than 2% per annum, as in a bank.
You need to monitor the market and try to sell, and then buy Bitcoin again, then you will receive profits of more than 25K.

Bitcoin and crypto industry is still in the basic phase of development and no one is sure what is going to happen down the road. Thus, one should never invest more than his lost bearing capacity. Bank  investment has almost negligible risk but the return from investment in Bank schemes is very low.  It's rate is almost around the rate of  inflation prevailing in that country where that bank is working.

I think of that too. I do not invest in a bank really eversince. I always think the earnings is too low and you are not secure with your money. For when the bank will file bankruptcy, what will happen to your money?

As long as you wont regret if you lose all your money when you invest them then it should be fine I thought, I'm sure that you did the best to convincing your dad and that's a good choice rather than choose BANK INVESTMENT. But you should try to invest on altcoins too, because there's many promising altcoins out there  ;)

You made a partial mistake. I would suggest you make the investment 50-50%. Since bank investment is more guaranteed, you should have at least put some in the bank. The Bitcoin investment is not totally guaranteed, it is online, anything can happen, worst still, the wallets or your trading platforms could be hacked and you will loose everything. You won't even have a chance of investigating anything, and the $20,000 will be all gone. Your uncle will be in complete ruins. While thinking of him laughing someday over huge Bitcoin profits, Did you also think of this high painful risk of him loosing everything? I am sure your uncle would still have been happy making a profit of $12,500 from the $10,000 you may have invested in Bitcoin, and he won't blame you for putting the other half in bank which was his original investment decision.

One more thing you failed to put into consideration is the human factor. Your uncle is a human. It will be far easier for him to forget the extra $25,000 profit he made through you, than to forget the $20,000 he lost through you.

Am tired of been paid peanut in fixed deposit in the bank, but they charge an outrageous when you lend money from the bank and one is forced to pay through the nose. I prefer bitcoin investment over a bank investment. No matter what, bitcoin investment has a better return in the shortest possible time frame, but one shouldn't put all his fund in bitcoin. splitting the fund is still a good idea.

Although you told your uncle about bitcoin investment is the better option you also could have told him it is risky compared to bank investment. Most especially now that the market is unstable, and the amount your uncle gave you is a huge amount of cash to invest not unless you are willing to lose everything because that is the number one rule when investing; only invest in an amount you are willing to lose.

For me it depends on the person on where to invest your money for as long as you know how to handle risk that is fine but if you are not ready to take risk thats a different story. But personally i will not put all that $20,000 in bitcoin investment I would rather keep it and find other sources to earn those bitcoin and other crypto currencies.

That can be good ofcourse as it can give a big profit throught time. It's also a big risk as it is a big chunk of money. A better thing you would have done was split it 50/50 as in the bank there is a guarantee of interest. with that said you'll get profit from the bank, and if value of bitcoin skyrocket, get a bigger profit. I will put 20k USD on bitcoin without any fear because whatever happened your fund will be there same value in bitcoin until you make the transaction to someone. Please check the bank they use your fund for market shares and they may give the interest for your fund but you will not be able to take the all fund at the same time. But here on bitcoin you can whatever you want. There others will have control on your account but on your bitcoin wallet no will not have the access to it.

Me too i choose bitcoin.. But in you situation dont ever get someone money to invest in bitcoin try to invest your own money so no one can judge you and get angry if bitcoin goes down. by the way happy to know that your uncle is easy to him to understand the crypto world..

Knowing that it is not your actual money investing in bitcoin, you made a bad decision man. If i were you i will suggest my auncle to split his investment, because what if the market won’t recover? Or what if it continues to go down? As what you have known in crypto, nothing is stable and everything is volatile and will always fluctuate. You will take all the blame when everthing go wrong with the investment. Splitting it into two giving him assurance with his money and what ever happens his money is safe on the other side of investment in the bank.

Bank investment and crypto/bitcoin investment both have their own risks. I would say maybe the reason why you prefer investing on bitcoin is how fast the ROI can be, unlike bank that percentage and returns are very slow bitcoin can change and have it's profit for investor in just a snap. For us it is very pleasing and very powerful on pulling investor. We want instant profit in short and that is what bitcoin have in it's nature. Just as how fast tech and innovation changes bitcoin can keep up with it's phase I would say.

With the OP's confidence, I'm not sure he was made a mistake. He already knows the risk of investing in cryptocurrency but he remains confident that cryptocurrency will benefit his investment. I would actually agree with investing Bitcoin than in the bank. You know why? First, Bitcoin is decentralized and anonymous and it has high liquidity. However, investing to banks is like you only gain pretty much less in interest. Furthermore, it is centralized and they can control your funds. I would rather choose decentralized than centralized. It also left me wondering, what bank is giving 10% annually for time deposit? Usually it's just around 0%-3%. 3% is already so much. We have 1.85% for the highest rate for time deposit for 12 months. 10% is so much and it actually sounds good. With $20,000 in your wallet with you not knowing what to do with it and a 10% gain per year for time depositing it in a bank, that sounds really good to me. $2000 a year out of money that you have no plans of doing anything with sounds amazing to me. I would have chosen that instead since it's totally possible that it will take a lot more than a year before you can earn that 10% gain from holding bitcoin especially now that we're at red.
