Title: Just got scammed by a "Legendary" member !

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=393142

** after about 3 months stingers showed up , paid my money back.

Ok so just to clarify things to everyone here. I would like to report that "stingers" paid back the money "150$" that i sent to him. he texted me on telegram as well as on this forum explaining to me that had his own reasons and asked for my forgiveness.

now regardless of  his intentions or story of why he stopped replying. I do appreciate that he finally came and talked to me and of course paid my money back.

so from my side the problem has been solved and i do forgive him for what happened. i will also delete my negative feedback on his trust page.

but again this is a lesson learned , never deal with anybody without escrow.

thanks to everybody for supporting my case and thanks for keeping this forum as safe as possible.

Mikey.

so this "stingers" guy who is supposedly a "Legendary" member who has been around for years scammed me for  150$ ! !

I am not blaming anyone but myself  ! but really with the reviews he got and his rank the last thing i'd think that he would scam someone for 150$ ! i mean with this kinda profile you can be trusted much more easily than a newbie or a member account you can make a good amount of money just trading digital goods !.

so this is his message on bitcointalk after he texted me on telegram " in response to my WTB topic " > https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4462149.msg39987328#msg39987328

https://i.imgur.com/XCt99ZZ.jpg

this is a proof that he is the same guy on telegram " same wallet address"

https://i.imgur.com/Gdp2j8v.png

this is a proof that i sent 0.02402 BTC (150$ at the time of transaction) to the same wallet

https://www.blockchain.com/en/btc/address/34TtT5Yxy6bSw1nywHEjQ6Emx4sqsC8nCd

this is the first lame excuse of why he didn't send the coupons

https://i.imgur.com/NiYKgIW.png

he was online on the forum after he my message was sent and NO REPLY

https://i.imgur.com/xpdMZcr.jpg

he then just blocked me on  telegram !

https://i.imgur.com/lBOEuk5.png

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

if needs be i can provide one of the mods/admins with my bitmain account login details so they can confirm that i have not received any coupons from this guy !!

and after all 150$ is not a big deal !  but I am only  hoping that some of the very trusted especially those with default trust would leave negative reviews on this so called " "Legendary" who is generally abusing the positive feedback he got as well as his rank so that others won't get scammed by him.

Finally my last message to all scammers all the way from ""Legendary" to newbies  " There is lotsa CLEAN money that can be made on the internet,it's probably less tiring than your scamming business if you would spend a little time on the things that matter instead of looking for people to scam"

Yeah, this is the first thing you should watch out for. Never ever trust anyone with -2 trust (in extremely small cases you possibly can), however you should have protected yourself with an escrow. While it costs, it should give you protection to some degree.

Red trust is a big no no buddy. Never deal with anybody who has red trust from DT member(s).
You need to learn the hard way, just be thankful it wasn’t for a lot more money.

I’ve seen dozens of horror stories on here with people losing over 100 bitcoin’s.

of course i checked the negative reviews ! . it was only from "Lauda" and i did read why did Lauda gave him that negative feed back. it didn't make sense. also after checking Lauda's reviews i found Ognasty ( a member that i highly trust) accusing Lauda for a lot of things so i assumed that her review is irrelavent. i also didn't think that someone with a legendary rank would scam someone for 150$ . anyway this is more of a warning for others rather than me complaining !

There are some who scammed for alot less. Its always wise to use escrow in such a situation. You most likely wont see anything back from this user but as for future reference, use an escrow. There are many who are trusted here.

You just got a lesson for a cost of $150..😂

Nothing Comes free my friend, every learning Costs something...

Once, I was also scammed nearly $3000... But that $3000 taught me a lot... Now I always try to be careful while perform transactions over Internet... One important advice I can give is -

"Always consult with Experts in Such issues & Think twice before making any payments "

I think everyone on this forum has some form of a scam story to tell unfortunately.

That's the problem with negative rep, for scammers, once an account doesn't have a clean record, it's almost a throw away account. They're more likely to scam again once they have negative rep.

I'm sorry for your luck! I'd hope he comes back and figures it out. It's not like it was a new account, and he did have some positive rep on his account, so I see where you were coming from.

Unfortunately, a legendary account means nothing when you don't have a reputation.

There are hundreds if not thousands of hero members and legendary accounts that are owned by scammers. Rank really means nothing if you don't a reputation, and in this case, he even got tagged before all of this happened.

Check the trust ratings of someone next time before you conduct business deals with them. Always use escrow, unless the amount is low ($150 is still a lot, and scammers will have their eyes set on you even if their ranks are high), or the person you're dealing with is extremely trusted.

Hopefully you learned your lesson. Don't assume anyone as legit before you do research here.

well i am well aware of the escrow service provided by trusted members, the only draw back is the time it takes for those guys to come online and to arrange the escrow. there are some deals that have to done right on time. and whenever there is reward , there will be a risk. i do have some rules regarding sending money first, i do stick to them all the time , i was just naive to think that a "Legendary" ranked member is a huge plus. it turns on out to be meaningless. so i added this to my list of rules :D .

Thanks

Yes. But when you are dealing with someone with such a tarnished reputation and with an extremely high risk digital good (Bitmain coupons), I think that the risks that you reduce through using escrow is worth a lot more than the time you may spend waiting for one.

You have to assume that most people who approach you on digital goods section are scammers, if they have a negative trust rating or they're lower ranked. There is no point taking that risk imho sending first.

It's not meaningless. It just doesn't automatically mean someone is legit, if you know what I mean. Especially when you saw that he had negative ratings on his trust profile, his reputation is already worthless. Always do research, and don't be afraid to ask around before you do a deal or especially send first.

So the warning "trade with caution" below the username really has a purpose afterall. Unfortunately you learned it the hard way. But thanks to your posts, we can always use your experience in dealing with caution even with high ranking members.

Edit: with this I begin to think, which one should worthless jr. members like me target, high merit or good reputation?

You read what you wanted to see, because you got greedy and thought that you were getting an advantage in a deal. You should never deal with anyone who has negative trust, legendary status is irrelevant.

It's not meaningless.
Not entirely, but in my mind it doesn't mean a hell of a lot either.  The reason I say that is because I know all too well that accounts are bought and sold here--Legendary accounts among them, and sometimes with green trust as well.  Having said that, there are some folks here I'd trust to do deals with, with no escrow, but I'm aware of how risky it is.

The main problem is that people don't always check a person's trust rating or ignore it when they do, or they give more weight to positive trust than they should.  I've been guilty of that in the past, and I got scammed--and I've been fairly paranoid ever since.

dude , i bought well over 3000 bitmain coupons on the forum " many members here can confirm" that's well over 250k USD "aka quarter a million " , i got scammed a few times for more money than this, on the other hand i met a lot of legit people. i wasn't greedy as you may think , i was foolish :D to think that a legendary status means something when it clearly doesn't :D. because i had dealth some a legendary members with no escrow and things were smooth !
as for your point of  " You should never deal with anyone who has negative trust"    i have to disagree to this because many negative reviews are based on "personal bullshit and drama" that's why you can always reference your reviews to support your case, a lot of legit people here have their walls painted in red because of so many reasons , for an instance once somebody accuses someone else for being a scammer chances are the person accused will post the same shit on accuser trust page and then at least one of those reviews will be irrelevant if not both . i am not sure if you getting my point !

anyhow, thanks for the reply.

Interesting. I see he's also shilling for the website sportsbet.io which I'm starting to believe scammed me out of about 1.5 btc by disabling my account for no reason while I still had active bets. Be very wary of any product or website this guy is promoting.

Please create your own thread in the Scam Accusations (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0) board.

BTW, the below doesn't make the website a scam. I'm pretty sure 99% of the betting websites request your ID in some cases. Even if they support BTC. Other than that, you didn't say anything or gave any evidence about what the website did.

Hmmm. If this site is rejecting withdrawals made by users and asking them to supply documents, this is just increasing my feeling this site is a scam. There's no reason why a sportsbook should need to ask for identity documents from customers. The point of using bitcoin is for anonymity.

stingers also have nothing to do with the website itself. He's just part of its signature campaign (which probably accepts users with a neg trust).

Actually, no. It's not normal for bitcoin betting sites to randomly ask for ID. And I've seen many people online confirm this. This is the ONLY bitcoin betting site that asks for KYC. And Of course I didn't provide full details in this comment because this thread isn't about sportsbet.io. It's about this  legendary member that's a scammer. I'm simply advising people to be cautious of any website this guy promotes since he seems to be a scammer. And sportsbet.io seems to be very shady upon doing some research.

I used to bet a lot in the past and most of them DO tend to request it. But anyways, when you started betting at the website, you accepted their Terms and Conditions. And this is what it says there:

8.4 We reserve the right to use additional procedures and means to verify your identity when processing deposits into your Member Account.

If that's why you're calling them "scammers", then you are the wrong one in this case.

ANYWAYS... We are both off topic here. If you want to keep discussing this, create your own thread.

P.S: Please stop with the cancer oversized font.

He was already neg trusted. No one is going to buy a red account (most only do this to join signature campaigns, and 99% of them don't accept neg trusted users).

Also, Legendary accounts are not worth $150. It's probably WAY more (even now that you need 1000 merits)

That's not why I'm calling them scammers. I'm calling them scammers because I deposited money and placed bets then they disabled my account after placing the bets and have received no response from customer support. This isn't a simple case of where they're asking for ID to reinstate the account. And also, I could mention many bitcoin sites I've played on for a couple years and never gotten asked for ID: cryptogames, duckdice, cloudbet, nitrogen sports, satoshi dice. I still think a bitcoin site asking for this is very sketchy since like I said there's no reason for it unless they want to weasel out of paying money. Anyway, this is my last comment about this on this thread.

Exactly the way i was thinking before sending him the $$$ :D . i mean with such an account rank and a little bit of brain and work you can make some good money !! .  look at all these Digital goods , the least you can do is to act like a middle men between too newbies ! make some profit . because by default NEWBIES " like myself" :D . trust those  "Legendary" members based on the exact point you stated ! . it's common sense and simple human nature ! but it's all wrong in this forum ! :D .  i have dealt with bunch of newbies and some were legit and professional ! . so this Rank shit is meaningless to say the least !. my brother was scammed by a localbitcoin paypal seller who has well over 5000+ reviews and over 1000 btc trades ! . guess for how much ? 500$ ! dude charged back and ran away ! . it was probably a big hit for him that made him run away " not the 500$" probably another HUGE hit that worth a couple years of working " my brother was just unlucky to be among those poor people who had pending transactions with that guy while he was planing for the big hit.  many people will act and be legit for a while for a BIGGER and LARGER scam-plan ! . you will be amazed when you see the numbers of previously-legit members including former escrow agents on this forum turned into scammers when they had the chance !.

Money drives people crazy ! anybody may turn into a cold blooded scammer at any second specially when they can easily get away with it ! moral of story " as long as you on the internet the chances of getting scammed is relatively HIGH.

You shouldn't be trusting any Legendary/Hero member just because of his rank. Back in the old days (before merit), ranking up was pretty easy. You could just visit the forum every 14 days, post any nonsense and after some time (when your potential activity has high), you could post burst a lot of spam and rank up in a few weeks.

Not only this, but his account was also NEG TRUSTED. Which means that the account is useless to join bounties or signature campaigns. Thus, making any scam worth for its owner if all he cares about is money.

Before trusting anyone, you need to check his background. If the user doesn't have any reputation (or a bad one), you should never trade with him without a escrow.

A legendary with negative trust was way less than $150 before the merit was introduced, I believe it was stingers lucky day that he got a deal of $150 for a $50 account at max.

Not all the time you can't consider someone as a scammer after seeing the red paint because it has gives for so many reason so you need to read the trust rating and also the reference link to identify the scammer or maybe some other reason.Initiallt the user stinger has give ret trust for merit abuse so we can't consider him as scammer but now he has scammed someone so the appropriate link will be added by the DT member to mark him as scammer.

The guy has a lot of scam accusations against it's a big warning sign, his being a legendary member is useless because people and campaign manager will not let them join their campaign so he is as good as a newbie to me he should be ban here I don't know if he is the real owner of that account.

Sorry for replying late but I was in a situation when this deal took place and I didn't have any intention to scam anyone.  I have explained my situation to  mikeywith (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2033515) and solved all the misunderstandings between both of us. I have also apologized him for my mistake and have repaid the amount for which he had a loss.

I would like to catch the attention of all the people who think I am not trusted and gave me a negative trust rating for this.  I respect that many DT members are active here and are doing great work to keep the forum away from such type of frauds. But as this is already proved that I am not guilty please remove the red paint from my profile it really itches me ;)

Thank you for understanding everyone and also again a sorry for all the unconvinced caused due to this act of mine.

I think you should first do some research before just claiming someone a scammer and also know the views of the person once to whom you are pointing too.

I guess you should be banned from here for supporting a big Ponzi scheme like bitconnect!

Mikey.

I never could understand why all scammers are asked to wait until the next day. It makes sense?

Honestly im surprised ANYONE even still deals on Bitcointalk, We all know a forum which encourages the SALE/TRADE of user accounts isn't to be trusted.
It has become common for accounts to be sold/hacked for scamming purposes, Its like the only reason the forum is still active lol.

Staff/Admins don't care its been proven time again, Sorry for your loss hopefully you'll learn from this experience.

When? I still see it there now.

I deleted my negative review on his wall because he paid back the money he owe me.. but i am keeping this topic unless the mods think it should be deleted. i think it's for everybody's best interest to keep this topic because i am pretty sure some people won't delete their negative trust on stingers trust page ,and they use this topic as a reference, so others need to see it, read it and then judge for themselves whether or not they should trade with stingers.

i will also edit the OP and mention that stingers did pay back my money but i will leave the initial  "story" so that people can learn from my mistake to never ever trust someone just for their merit or rank.

Understandable. Now I see your neg was deleted from their trust page. I might just downgrade it to a neutral to reference this topic.

Thank you for giving me a chance,
As I already explained the @mikeywith about the issues I was facing, and I prefer keeping it private. I can tell you I had a medical issue and due to which I was unable to solve the problem created here but still when I came back here just repaid him for his loss, as you can check it by his statements above and also apologized him for the inconvenience cause. He agreed to my issue and found it genuine.

I am also apologizing here for late reply but my real life conditions kept me away from it. Still I have repaid the depth and am now looking forward to work in legit way the help the forum.

@OGnasty and @KWH please remove the red tag from my profiles as I have resolved the issue here. And also working here for the betterment.

Thank you!
