The main difference between altcoins and tokens is in their structure.
Altcoins are separate currencies with their own separate blockchain while tokens operate on top of a blockchain that facilitates the creation of decentralized applications.
I saw too many post about it. Let read it

The coin was building on its own manufacture that called as a blockchain system, the coin has created its own community and it's not pegged to another blockchain.
Token was creating on the inside of the blockchain itself and it's a part of the blockchain ecosystem and it can be called an asset that pegged on the blockchain as the mother to control the asset.

token is what's built using some other coin's blockchain . like all projects that were built on Etherum are called token.on contrary, coin should have their own blockchain. Do also your own research to be sure about the difference and don't rely on anyone's opinion.

Cool, token are based and built on other blockchain while coin would surely built on it’s own blockchain and have it’s own wallet.

 Altcoin
Alternative coins / altcoin / coins are an alternative to Bitcoin. The majority of altcoin is a fork variant of Bitcoin, using the Bitcoin open source protocol with coding changes to create new coin types with different features.
Examples of altcoin which are variants of Bitcoin coding are Namecoin, Peercoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin and Auroracoin.

There are also other altcoins that are not derived from the open source protocol Bitcoin. Instead, the coins were created using new blockchains and protocols. Examples for this coin include: Ethereum, Ripple, Omni, NXT, Waves and Counterparty. Altcoin this type has its own blockchain that records the transaction process of the coin.

Token
Token is a representation of asset ownership, which generally uses other existing blockchain technologies. It can be said token is any form of tradable assets, for example: commodities, data, point rewards, currency, and others.

Creating tokens is much easier because we do not need to modify the coding of a protocol or create a new blockchain from scratch. All we need to do is follow the template from a blockchain - eg the Ethereum or Wave platform - which allows us to create our own tokens.
This process can occur in the presence of smart contracts; computer programs that can work automatically and do not require a third party to operate it (for more details about smart contract, you can read my article about what is ethereum).

Tokens are created and distributed to the general public through Initial Coin Offering (ICO), a fundraising form by selling cryptocurrency for people to participate (for more details about ICO, you can read my article on what ICO is).

Conclusion
The main difference between altcoin and token is the structure; altcoin is a currency that uses its own blockchain platform, while the token operates using another blockchain that can facilitate the smart contract.

Token is such a replacement of coins in the crypto world. Its main difference is that it is valid only in a specific ICO project. This is comparable to casino chips. They work as currency only on the casino, but to buy something outside the casino you need to exchange their on real money. In our case, real money is like cryptocurrency.

Coin has its own blockchain, and it's ussualy minable.

Token is build on blockchain of other coin or token like Etherium (the most Tokens), Waves, Neo etc.

Coins are also know as altcoins and it simply means coins that are an alternative to Bitcoin. The majority of coins are fork of Bitcoin, built using Bitcoin’s open-sourced, original protocol with changes to its underlying codes, therefore conceiving an entirely new coin with a different set of features.Coins will have it own blockchain for example ethereum, EOS, bitcoin cash etc. While token are a representation of a particular asset or utility, that usually resides on top of another blockchain. For example erc 20 token( like polymath, equal token and a lot of them)  that resides on ethereum blockchain

Coins are in most cases a separate blockchain, something independent of others while tokens are based on existing cryptos like Ethereum, NEO,Stellar and are powered by such platform

A token is a digital good that requires the underlying chain to survive. So a coin is the opposite, it has its own chain and is independet from any other. Coins is just a name, not all are intended as such.

maybe the simple quote to answer your questions is

most of token created on ethereum blockchain now,, few in waves and others network such as eos, neo, strat etc

Most people used these two words interchangeably whereas they used them
wrongly because they cannot differentiate between them.

When other coin's blockchain is used called token which is the part of blockchain ecosystem like tether, binance coin etc. And the coins are the blockchain of its own and have their own value to trade. You can also investigate more reading some projects of tokens' whitepaper built on coins

in my opinion there is no difference. token is a term for coins made using smartcontrac and coins are coins, all cryptocurrencies are essentially coins. Token term is popular when many ico projects start using smart contracts ERC20 ethereum.

I think the difference between coins and tokens is that the coin already has its own platform, i take as an example, ethereum coins. While tokens do not have their own platform / still ride on the platform of others, here I take the example, such as new ICOs that almost everything is token.

Yes, you say it correctly, there is bitcoin and altcoins. Altcoins are very large number. As for tokens and coins. To a large extent, this is the same, but the tokens are considered coins that are sold at the ICO or PreIco stage, and the coins are already called when they are traded on the exchange.
Tokens can be called tokens that pay investors when they invest their money.

I think coin refers to having its own block system, so it has complete block data.
However, token refers to ERC20 token, which is based on tokens of each blockchain.

Token has a low value rarely can be in the mine. if the coin has a high value and can usually be in the mine. making tokens more simple by using platforms such as erc, komodo, platform stellar, platform neo and others.

In the crypto world tokens are kind of like Stocks of Companies, tokens can represent  any assets that are fungible and tradeable. Coins are alternative to fiat money and have its own blockchain. Tokens are generally hosted on another blockchain, like Ethereum or Waves.

A cryptocurrency coin has its own blockchain system where as the token resides on top of another blockchain system as assets or utility. Token can represent any fungible and tradable asset. Tokens are distributed to ICO and have diverse utility.

The main similarity of all Coins is that each of them has its own independent blockchain, where transactions occur.
Most often, Tokens do not have their own blockchain system and are hosted on a third-party basis, for example, on Ethereum or Waves, and also do not have their own purse.

Tokens can be operated only with the help of any blockchain and their money to make the transaction for example, ERC20 tokens can be send with the amount you have ethereum on the wallet you have. If the standalone coin it will be work with out any intervention to make the payment dude. To listed on exchanges even the tokens provider team also work for it. There are many tokens in the exchange.

Token and coins are often confused and used interchangeably, while in fact they are different.
- Coin - use its own platform and operate independently. Coin does not require any other platform to operate, but rather, operates on their own independent Blockchain, on which they are "native currency". Bitcoin is a coin, and so are Litecoin and Ethereum - Litecoin and Ethereum are altcoins, meaning they are alternatives to Bitcoin in a number of ways. There are two types of popular altcoins.
Alternative coins are constructed with the original Blockcoin derived code with the modifications and changes (Dogecoin, Litecoin).
Alternative coins are built with new and independent blockchains (eg Ethereum, Icon, AION).
- Token - Built on an existing blockchain or protocol. Token often represents a property or utility. Since Token is created on an existing Blockchain, they are easy to create and most of the tokens we see today are based on Ethereum blockchain:
Utility Token - These tokens are not designed as an investment. They will be used to trade, exchange and access products or services, basically providing a "utility". Since they are not considered investments, these tokens are exempt from statutory audits (for example, Tokens are used to identify or play a Blockchain-based game).
Security Token - These tokens are considered as investment property and must comply with securities laws. For example, the SEC (US Securities Trading Commission) uses the Howey Test to verify whether a Token is a security. If a Token does not meet the Howey Test, it is considered a stock. If a company meets all regulatory requirements, this tokens are most likely to be widely applied. The largest use case is for companies that issue symbolic token representations of ownership in a company or property, like stock.

The main difference between Coins and Tokens is in their structure; Coins are separate currencies with their own separate blockchain, while Tokens operate on top of a blockchain that facilitates the creation of decentralized applications. Coins are just method of payment while tokens may present a company’s share, give access to product or service and perform many other functions. Coins are currencies that can be used for buying and selling things. You can buy a token with a coin, but not vice versa. Coin operates independently, while token has a specific use in the project’s ecosystem.

There is also difference in Altcoin and Token. Ok, lets figure out.
Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency(if it is correct to name it so) and it was made from total zero. It is coin. There are many altcoins - they are based on Bitcoin ideology and it's economic direction(I don't know how to say more understandable). Those of them who wrote their code from 0 are coins, others that decided to change the original chain are named forks. Those currencies that were launched on special platforms like Ethereum, NEO or others are tokens :)

because the token is used as a incentive or free from their loyal investors to provide additional income.

The difference between cryptocurrency coin and token is

Coin is a cryptocurrency which operates independently to any other platform's  like

BITCOIN
BITCOIN cash and
ETHEREUM

Token:- in token it requires another platform lìke ethereum for it to exit and also before it can operates.

Coin are cryptocurrencies created with a blockchain and an ecosystem that runs independently, such as Bitcoin ethereum, ripple etc. A token on the other hand is a smart contract created on an existing blockchain. Most tokens are created in the ethereum blockchain. Tokens are easier to create, since all the codes are already in existence on the blockchain.

This is something that people always mistake for the other. I'm glad that it has been brought up as a topic for discussion. I would simply say that while Tokens are assets that depend on another blockchain, Coins have their own blockchains of their own and are dependent on nothing but themselves. Tokens have to exist as themselves first before becoming coins and this can only happen when they have a blockchain of their own.

The main difference between altcoins and tokens is the structure; altcoin is a currency that uses its own blockchain platform, while tokens operate using other blockchains that can facilitate smart contracts.. the way the income is also different if you can buy altcoins at the crypto trading exchange or can mine it, while your token doesn't have to mine it, the developer only determines how much total supply, then the number of tokens remains.

The difference between a token and a coin is that a coin will be using its own blockchain and a token will be using somebody else's blockchain to transact. Ethereum has ERC-20 tokens, NEO has NEP-5 tokens many of these will migrate to their own chain when the project is more established. Look for mainnet launch in their roadmaps for a timeframe.

A coin has its own Blockchain, and doesn't need other crypto's Blockchain, but token uses other Coin's Blockchain, most of the tokens using Ethereum Blockchain, it is very popular among them, as far as I know Ethereum and neo are most useful platforms for Icos, the only thing is that if/when the coin fall, the token that uses its Blockchain would fall too, coz they are attached together in some way.

People are sure can't read sticky notes in this forum, theymos already made a post about this one and stickied in Announcements (Altcoins) > Tokens (Altcoins)

"A cryptocurrency is self-sufficient, not relying on any other cryptocurrency to function (not including merged mining), and requiring its own software. A token works like a cryptocurrency at a high level, but relies on some other cryptocurrency's infrastructure in order to function, and often (but not necessarily always) lacks its own software.

Example 1
You create an Ethereum asset. This asset is entirely reliant on Ethereum's block chain to function. It is a token.

Example 2
You pick out 1 BTC and split it into 100 million satoshi. Each satoshi represents some part of a real-world thing, and gets a special ticker symbol. This is a token because it is completely reliant on Bitcoin's block chain to function.

Example 3
You create an Ethereum contract which allows anyone perpetually to trade 0.1 ETH for 1 YOURTHING and vice-versa. This is ambiguous, and may require moderator discretion. It may be considered a token, or it may be considered merely a flavor of ETH, belonging in Ethereum threads, etc."
