I am always amaze every time I imagine how much power does Ethereum blockchain has when processing transaction for every tokens it supported. There are millions of transactions are being process every single day. Just do the math. Decentralized exchanges using ETH blockchain plus online wallets like MEW, Jaxx, coinomi, Eidoo, etc. I always have this feeling that ETH will become number 1 someday. Who is better for you? ETH or BTC?

Yes, I think faster eth, despite the fact that you can speed up the transaction , but btc because it is better to transfer, compared to if you throw tokens from the wallet then always problems with the Commission

The answer for this quastion very simple - Ethereum is better a 100 times! Why? It is faster, transaction price - lower than bitcoin. BTC is like a old man - too slowly. Just make alittle competition: send the transaction via Bitcoin and at the same time - with Ethereum. You will see results yourself.

well, this is a hard question for me as i npbelieve in both of these cryptocurrencies and i think that they are ,ore or leepss ths same usually

Yes ETH can be fast and easier but that doesn't make it first nor become first now but it can be considered for later. BTC is the father of all and will still exist for long.

Eth transfers are way faster than btc.  Once all the parameters are right it's almost less than a minute. But I don't see it overtaking btc, BTC is still the widely accepted cryptocurrency.

I think that ETH is better and faster than bitcoin and also I think that in the future ETH will be able to catch up in the price of bitcoin and replace it.

These crypto currencies can not be compared, because they have a completely different working principle and they are designed for different purposes. If we talk about the speed of transactions, then Ethereum is more rapid. But Bitcoin will soon implement the Lightning Network and everything can change.

Ethereum is absolutely better amd cheaper. Bitcoin development of their network and features are behind the etherum development, the only thing bitcoin is still the main crypto is because it is the first to get in to mainstream adoption, but in the next few years if bitcoin do not make any better development ETH will replace it for sure.

I will vote for ethereum blockchain. Just the matter of time until all of IPE will be implemented to help ethereum to reach 1 million TPS in the future. This has been planned by all of core developer of ethereum itself and i suggest you to try to take a look on the all pf proposal.

In fact, after the order was over, less than a minute was the ETH transaction completed. Transaction of BTC, it will take nearly 10 minutes. But talk about better, ETH can not catch up BTC. BTC itself does not stop at where it always moves in the direction of development. Therefore, BTC is the eternal king in the cryptographic market. ETH is the prince, so the transaction speed is faster than BTC.

Comparing them now is of course possible, but it's going to be more interesting to see which one of the two scales better.

Ethereum has a faster transaction speed than Bitcoin and we all know that but both of this two cryptocurrency already experienced congestion of transactions on its blockchain, so it is just who can make a better scaling solution. What I can say is that those altcoins that are faster than Bitcoin doesn't mean that it is better, remember that when other cryptocurrency gained the same volume that Bitcoin has they will surely experience the same and Ethereum proved that. About Ethereum being number one, of course it is possible but only if people will lose their interest in Bitcoin.

Bitcoin though being the largest coin has relatively smaller number of transaction per second than Ethereum.
Unlike decentralized exchanges that do transaction for every exchange, bitcoin based exchange are only the exchange of value as every coins remains within the exchange until user withdraws. Ethereum transaction occurs not only for sending ethereum but each and every ethereum based tokens.

I think Ethereum has faster transaction because it depends on blocktime. Bitcoin's blocktime is set at 10 minutes, while Ethereum has a block every 10-20 seconds, making it much faster. But if Bitcoin implement something like lightning network surely it will be able to match Ethereum's speed or much better to it.
There's so much to see in the future of this two  leading cryptocurrency .

Of course if we compare it with transaction speed, ETH will win about it. But does it prove that ETH is better? Sure better at technology and transation speed but that's not make ETH as best coin. The best coin still still held by BTC.

There are so many buzz and noise going around Ethereum lately. It gained some considerable value, which it has not shown in the past months. I think people are beginning to be hopeful that it could again regain its power, because at one point, it was the second most popular and powerful cryptocurrency around, second only to bitcoin. I think ETH blockchain is faster than BTC because BTC blockchain has relatively smaller number of transaction per second than Ethereum. The transaction are calculated on the basis of TX/seconds.
As far as in know ETH blockchain is capable of doing ~ 15 TX/second while on the other hand BTC is capable of handling only 7-10 TX per seconds. With that said ETH blockchain is faster than the BTC chain. Also, this transaction can also drop if the crypto blockchain is overloaded by some means. For example during the time of Airdrops, ICO sales etc. FYI : VISA processes highest number of TX per seconds and has capacity of 25,000 to 45K TX/seconds.

This is like a no-brainer already. The speed for transactions on the Ethereum network is super higher than that of Ethereum. This is not to say the Ethereum network doesn't get slow too, but this happens when it's clogged up

i use both but more ethereum . I am also mining so i have more ethereum i earn more and more everyday. as transaction speed there is no brainer. ethereum 1-5 minutes  against btc 30min -12h

Eth in my experience is always faster. But you must be careful with the address. You may get problems if you send your eth tokens to etc addresses.

It actually depends on the network traffic. Each platform experiences network traffic sometimes, and both have expensive transaction fees during those times. However, if all network is working fine, I would say ethereum network is faster when transacting. If there's no problem, it only takes seconds for transactions to sync and finish.

I was under the impression that ETH is faster. But there is time that the ETH network is so slow, my fund stuck on the network for quite a time.
Then I came back using bitcoin, it still slow but look like it does not stuck.
Also, if you transfer fund between exchanges, the speed of sending also depend on their transaction fee setting. Some exchanges I saw the speed is way too slow, some is good.
On the side note: if both exchange support Doge, I will use doge for transfering, the whole process cost like $2 max.

I agree and have tested this several times already fast transactions, small fee what you are looking for a payment processor, but the world still believes that there is a fix on Bitcoin's issue, hence they are not giving up, they are the original one and the one that started it all this is one of the reason why they are still the number one.

That is very obvious that Ethereum is better compare to Bitcoin in terms of transaction speed and cheaper transaction. Ethereum is very smart in which it solved bitcoin loophole and innovate more with the blockchain technology platform and make it register with smart contract on alternative coins.

BTC is the fastest in term of exchange but it is more expensive than ETH which have a cheaper payment but just a little bit slower with regards to a blockchain transaction , so I choose ETH coin .but If ever I have plenty of coins with high value , I think I will for BTC exchange for sure .

It's not right the compare the ETH & the BTC transaction speeds.
They both have different infrastructure which is makes the difference already.
Maybe only you can compare when the network statistics are same. But it will be very hard to compare anyway.

Actually, think about the trusted and most popular and used are the Bitcoin. However, talk about the faster and better coin, I think that Ethereum is the winner than the Bitcoin. It is more dependent upon the network congestion. Many people would have replied that ETH is faster, that might be a case as for now. But if ETH starts hosting the transaction traffic as comparable to that of BItcoin, we will discuss the matter then. Recently, there was a ETH congestion due to some exchange. Th transaction fees were pretty high during that time and speed was quite slow. BTC transfers were pretty better than ETH then.

I think that cheaper is ethereum but sometimes the ethereum network has problems so shipping can happen slowly while the bitcoin network system still has the advantage so the price adjusts to the quality. if you still want to use eth you must always ask some people before you make a transaction using eth

Both ETH and BTC are fast when performing transactions... I think the speed of transaction depends on gas and fees..  The higher the gas the faster the transaction. The fact is just ETH is more cheaper than BTC.

Bitcoin is better for me in terms of value but usage ETH is good. My fastest transaction was confirmed for just 40 seconds and that's through ETH.

Bitcoin never intended to be a platform for dapps. The comparison doesn't make sense. Bitcoin is a payment platform and it will be a good one.

There is no doubt that in case of eth transaction , transaction time and cost are much much lesser than btc transaction. But as I think only transaction time and cost does not create coins value. You have to always keep in mind that Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency and creator of all. I had also a feeling that in far future maybe someday eth can be stronger than btc. In my own opinion, I think that both transaction rates are fair enough, even though the fee for BTC might be so high. They both have speedy transaction rates and it is one good thing about both coins cos I don't have to wait for so much time to get my coins in my wallets or get it transferred to another. These two coins does it for me to be honest.

It's a question of preference as some will only use bitcoin to store value and others want to use it to send something abroad and then it is expensive.

Yes, ETH transactions are faster than BTC transaction but ETH network is mostly clogged due to very large no of transactions and delays range somewhere between 30 minutes to even hours. On the other hand btc network is also heavily loaded and that causes delays.

 I want to say one word,of course Ethereum transcation speed is more high from Btc transaction.I have noticed a lot of times that it does not take any extra time in the moment transaction is done just a second.Sometimes take it few minutes.I have a lot of very bad experience with Btc transaction.I withdraw half of btc from binance but i received it after 2days.     

I think it is wrong to compare the rates of ETH and BTC transactions. Both of them have the other infrastructure, which already has a value.

It is true that ETH transaction speed is much better than bitcoin. ETH transaction fees also cheap. But it doesn't mean Ethereum will overcome bitcoin. It is not possible. Did you remember  about kittie ? That time ethereum network was too slow! And transaction fees were very high! So, Ethereum is not the winner here!

You are right about all the things you mention eth does but I don't think it will become number 1 coin any time soon, remember that there are many projects building the same smart contract platform? remember that most of the strong project on the ethereum network are building their own blockchain and when they complete it, they will swap an migrate to their own blockchain?

I personally believe ETH is much faster than bitcoin, especially in the transaction but there are lots of coins which is way faster than both such as Stella lumens, last week, i transfer Lumens wallet to exchange wallet, it took 15 sec to complete, unbelievable speed.

It is obvious that ETH wins the race when it comes to faster transactions. The ETH chain takes only about 15 seconds to add a block to the blockchain while the BTC blockchain takes about 10 minutes to add a block to the chain. This makes ETH way more faster than BTC. Also, ether uses gas to pay for the transaction fee which makes it way more cheaper than BTC as it requires BTC to pay for the transaction fee. This makes ETH more better than BTC in terms of cost, speed and efficiency.

There are still issues with the fee structure as we know. That's why they want to improve it to some kind of auction style where everybody pays the lowest fee possible.

We all are know that eth blockchain speed was much faster than btc..but ethereum blockchain will be depending on their network and traffic too. But overall, i think ethereum blockchain is faster than btc in transaction speed.

Does it matter? Both are instantaneous, it's just the confirmations that take extra but once they're sent and in 99% of cases it's fine either way. The differences between ETH and BTC are not just down to speed but what you can do with them. Eth has its benefits as a platform whilst bitcoin is bigger by brand alone, and is better both as payment system and investment (in my opinion). I back both for  huge long-term gains but it really isn't about the speed of them and both have their place in the cryptosphere.

for me to do the two things, but I tried to move the ripple faster. So if you have holdings on bitcoin or ethereum you should. it is better to transfer to (RIPPLE) to secure your money and move faster to the market.

From a personal experience ETH i much faster & batter when it comes to confirmation in the blockchain even when it's kinda saturated, just higher your GAS & you're go to go.

I have tested ethereum several times and found out that it was faster than bitcoin. But giving consideration to usage or volume per hour I think bitcoin has more transactions per hour which will cause a network traffic so that the reason for lagging behind ethereum could be because of it. I still believe both are really having fast transaction speedsand onky had a little difference.

I think that the ethereum is the faster between the two when it comes to speed because with ethereum as long as you have enough gas then comfirmation is pretty easy and sweet sailing from there. Bitcoin takes a very long time to confirm and there are times when I have waited hours for confirmation on bitcoin transactions in the past.

In actual bitcoin is more faster then etherium , but surely in the present time if you will make transfer with the bitcoin and etherium at the same time , then you will found etherium is more faster then bitcoin , here the main reason is that bitcoin have bulk amount of users who are making transactions per second, but here etherium have less amount of users ( in comparison of the bitcoin ) that why etherium Blockchain is not facing any type of the traffic for the transaction and giving better speed of confirmation even at low transaction fee .
And decor factor of the token transaction is that , token system are only read and write data only system , that means , data will be change at one place and add at another beneficiary user's adress , so there is not traffic due to token transfer .

No need to compare between BTC and ETH about transaction speed cause blatant that ETH transaction speed is much faster than BTC and it's not the only thing, ETH transaction fee is also much lower than BTC transaction fee as well :). Eth did amaze many of us. With waiting period of nearly an hour with bitcoin for medium transactions, Eth was able to do it in minutes. And Eth blocks can accommodate bigger number of transcations compared to BTC. And ETH does not support its native token alone, it is a platform that tends support to many other altcoins. Eth is indeed feature packed and with smart contracts too. So the number of benefits is there.

And if there is any altcoin that is set to go par with BTC, i think ETH has it.  Though  BTC keeps evolving too and developments are on the way to make it lightning fast soon. So best of luck to both of them. As long as they are progressive, i am happy.

This might be the case right now, but as we know the prices in BTC transactions can increase considerably. Also possible that that was a timed attack back then when it was $50 per transaction.

Judging by the cost of the transaction, then on the eth network they are cheaper. But here's the speed to it there are many pritenzy. In recent days, processing speed and cost have grown significantly. And almost the same as in bitcoin.

I definitely agree with your opinion mate because of the fact that Bitcoin will be having some upgrades to enhance it's capabilities in terms of faster transactions through Lightning Network. Besides, Bitcoin is intentionally created as a new form of currency unlike Ethereum that is intended for different purpose and platform but are both based on blockchain technology. For now I will give it to Ethereum as a more faster one in terms of speed but let's see in the future if ETH will still lead the race of speed.

If we compare, let's just say using the same fee, and there is no network problem between the two, then most likely, Ethereum will win. Because I think that making it quite slow on BTC transactions is 1 txid has several sub transactions (CMIIW) while its not happen on Ethereum

For this kind of transaction i will choose Ethereum over Bitcoin. But in case the Lightning Network release for bitcoin scaling and transaction. Bitcoin is the anwer for sure. Let's wait for what will happen in the next phase of bull run.

Based on my experienced Eth blockchain is more faster, but more expensive when the blockchain is clogged. I would love if bitcoin would address this issue and hoping the lighting network would be implemented as soon as possible.

I think with new technologies which are so actively introduced now by Vitalik air will be much quicker than bitcoin  8)

I think faster is ethereum. because as long as I use both. Ethereum in my opinion is much faster than bitcoin. I think it's not too influential. But sometimes it makes us more comfortable wearing it. So I prefer the speed of ethereum transactions.

Of course ETH, ETH only takes 10-20 seconds to complete a transaction and has a very cheap fee. But for BTC, it took me 3-5 minutes for my transaction to be sent but it took longer to confirm the transaction. That's why I like ETH more

In case of bitcoin it depends does service is using segwit or not
With segwit bitcoin transaction time is even not so long but fees are still very high

Agree with this, their scalability also could overcome the huge traffic from so many ICO that deploy their erc20 or erc223 token from Ethereum blockchain.but in term of fee I think both are comparable

I think there are factors affecting their speed but I am not sure what directly it is.

In my opinion. the transaction speed between ETH and BTC is faster Bitcoin transactions. because bitcoin is more popular than ethereum and the price of Bitcoin is more expensive than the price of Ethereum. Moreover, Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency currency before Ethereum.

So far Ethereum is superior to Bitcoin in transaction speed. But the Bitcoin team is working hard on this issue.

if I personally think Ethereum is better than Bitcoin if it is about transaction speed, because from my own experience of sending Ethereum and Bitcoin, maybe Bitcoin speed transactions are longer than Ethereum because many are transacting using Bitcoin compared to Ethereum, but besides that I also assume that Bitcoin transaction fee are very expensive compared to Ethereum transaction fee.

Eth is more trustable for me . Transaction speed way better than btc. and eth has a incredible technology inside like smart contracts etc. Sure it will be more better with POS. so yes i agree with you. i have also feelings about number 1 is ETH.

It's also about the number of transactions for the both coins. Ethereum is transacted in the largest number while bitcoin transaction are a fraction of it.
Ethereum is of course a better when it comes to fast transactions, transacting more than bitcoin per secoind. but the number of transactions are huge in Ethereum than in Bitcoin which leads to larger queuing period for Ethereum than bitcoin.

BTC network was overloaded in December but today, the transaction speed of the network is pretty much faster  than in ETH network, more and more nodes are appearing every day to implement the Lighting Network.

The network speed of bitcoin is much faster than that of ethereum. Ethereum made good time before but with all of the coins that are being built and transacted on the network it has definitely taken a toll on the transaction speed of the coin. So bitcoin has a much better speed and the transaction I did yesterday with bitcoin was pretty much instant

In my experience BTC tends to have slightly faster acceptance rates, but ETH technically has higher network throughput. I believe however that with the huge numbers of ERC20 tokens being moved around that the Ethereum network is closer to reaching its maximum capacity most of the time, hence confirmations are sometimes slower. Overall, both these are under 20tps.


True, if you include ERC20 transactions I am fairly sure that ETH eclipses BTC, however you can't really claim that makes ETH better than BTC. After all, many would consider ERC20 transactions to be network spam, since the vast majority of these are simple trades, whilst almost all of BTC value exchange is purposeful.

Either way, both networks need an upgrade, Bitcoin is steadily gaining numbers with Lightning and Ethereum has the impending Caspar upgrade, personally I prefer the idea of sharding over lightning, but we'll see who wins.

Even though we can make bitcoin transaction faster, but the fee maybe does not match with the value that we send and can be bigger than that. The fastest bitcoin transaction I feel is getting 3 confirmations in 1 hour, at that time I used a standard transaction fee.

I have a problem with ETH transactions sometimes. I am having failed transactions due to setting low gas or gwei. That is my problem you have to set the proper amount of gas amd gwei for ETH transactions. I still prefer BTC because it is automatic, it may take time for you to receive but I never had failed transaction.

For me, the Ethereum network has a faster speed for transaction completion compared to bitcoin, also considering the numbers of transactions that needs to be completed... So ETH has the better speed..

But, Btc still remains the king of coins.
