Title: Spam factory accounts Member in a very popular topic Post by: Alex_Sr on August 07, 2018, 10:08:31 AM Spam factory accounts Member in a very popular topic
In the last few days there is some invasion of bots in a very popular topic in the Russian section: Analytics, analysis, forecasts, news (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1006631.0) The rules of the forum Postings do not violate, as they have a link to the source, but distinctive features of accounts: 1. All accounts have a signature 2. All accounts are very old and probably hacked 3. All messages on one pattern (only the headlines of articles from popular resources about cryptocurrencies and a link to the source) 4. All messages are sent every few minutes Someone clearly decided to automate the process of posting messages for signature companies on the forum? Title: Re: Spam factory accounts Member in a very popular topic Post by: Alex_Sr on August 13, 2018, 05:33:21 AM I think there are much more important issues that need addressing/implementing right now than badges in my opinion. The problem of bots spamming (in particular "news headlines") is included in the list of priorities? We have more and more of them in the Russian branch every day. They do not violate the rules (place a link to the source of the news), but in fact - it is 100% spam. The moderators even opened a separate topic under "news headlines", or they do other topics unreadable. They do not violate the rules (place a link to the source of the news) By placing the link they do not violate the rule about plagiarism (p.33), but not the rules in general. Any spam and low-value post violates the p.1. In fact there's no sense in posting such "news": they don't contain any "fresh" thoughts (nor thoughts at all) and their "authors" just intend to make as many posts as possible. Do report on such posts of p.1.(low-value post) - get bad report! (post - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4856359.msg43941045#msg43941045) https://a.radikal.ru/a09/1808/0e/18b5af67546a.png (https://radikal.ru) Title: Re: Spam factory accounts Member in a very popular topic Post by: esmanthra on August 13, 2018, 05:46:44 AM Do report on such posts of p.1.(low-value post) - get bad report! Actually, I wrote about it above. As a temporary solution to this problem Xal0lex made everything perfect. But what will happen if tomorrow bounty managers will cease to count the posts placed with "garbage topics"? This spam will return in 10 new topics? Title: Re: Spam factory accounts Member in a very popular topic Post by: esmanthra on August 13, 2018, 05:59:43 AM I wrote about it above I just restored the post which originally was written before your reply in previous thread. Quote what will happen if tomorrow bounty managers will cease to count the posts placed with "garbage topics"? This spam will return in 10 new topics? Everything would just return to it's basics. Since this thread is created for those posts by moderator they don't break anything there, but if they'd go outside they'll automatically start to violate the p.1. It's exactly the same situation we dwelled before. It was a reference to these words: The moderators even opened a separate topic under "news headlines", or they do other topics unreadable. It's exactly the same situation we dwelled before. Just seems strange to me to create topics for the filling of posts by bots? Probably easier just to apply the ban for multiple posting violates p.1? (since their number will continue to grow IMHO) And that would be a great "ice shower" for the rest of the "news headline posters"... Title: Re: Spam factory accounts Member in a very popular topic Post by: xandry on August 13, 2018, 06:48:19 AM I consider that they have to be banned, but our (russian moderators) inquiries on their banning are ignored.
Title: Re: Spam factory accounts Member in a very popular topic Post by: esmanthra on August 13, 2018, 06:50:01 AM Just seems strange to me to create topics for the filling of posts by bots? Why not if it works? It's much easier to moderate them when they're collected in one place - and users who nevertheless find something useful there (applying them like some kind of news letter for example) don't have to dig the analytics thread (nor the entire board) to find what they want. Quote Probably easier just to apply the ban for multiple posting violates p.1? It'd been applied long time ago (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=994018.msg30951386#msg30951386). The problem is that these accounts mostly have the rank of Jr. Member and higher - which means that only Global Mods and Admins can lock them (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=964593.msg11237846#msg11237846) while local moderators have to request the block. Requests consume time - and not every one of them is being satisfied (all the more so there're hundreds of bots). IMO, no wonder that Russian moderator decided to go the other way. Quote that would be a great "ice shower" for the rest of the "news headline posters"... They're bots (at least the majority of them, I suppose). Bots don't think and don't hesitate - they just do what was implemented in their code. "Ice showers" are pertinent when we talk about people. Title: Re: Spam factory accounts Member in a very popular topic Post by: Alex_Sr on August 13, 2018, 06:54:29 AM I consider that they have to be banned, but our (russian moderators) inquiries on their banning are ignored. Thank you! I immediately realized that the problem only moderators of the Russian section of the forum to resolve difficult - and therefore have created a topic on the Meta-board They're bots (at least the majority of them, I suppose). Bots don't think and don't hesitate - they just do what was implimented in their code. "Ice showers" are pertinent when we talk about people. Create they are clearly people and benefit from a signature company get the same people. Loss of 10-20 accounts will sober anyone ;) Creating a bunch of bots to participate in the signature company - is a business. Question - we need such a business on the forum? If not - can destroy a business - just ban accounts is to make it unprofitable! Title: Re: Spam factory accounts Member in a very popular topic Post by: esmanthra on August 13, 2018, 07:23:42 AM can destroy a business - just ban accounts How do you expect it to be "destroyed" by banning? In fact I doubt that bans indeed disturb them (especially those who actually are engaged in some sort of "business"): sometimes it seems that they register a new bunch of accounts faster then their previous bunch is being banned. Title: Re: Spam factory accounts Member in a very popular topic Post by: Alex_Sr on August 13, 2018, 07:30:18 AM can destroy a business - just ban accounts How do you expect it to be "destroyed" by banning? It's simple. If the cost of the account "member" for example $200, and getting banned and flying out with the signature company, they will not get anything - I wonder what they choose? In fact I doubt that bans indeed disturb them (especially those who actually are engaged in some sort of "business"): sometimes it seems that they register a new bunch of accounts faster then their previous bunch is being banned. With the introduction of the Merit system, it is problematic to make many new Member's accounts. Because they use hacked accounts 2011-2014 years. And their number is definitely limited! The majority of accounts they use are Jr. Members which don't need anything but time and activity to be obtained (at least for now). Thus they don't incur any losses.
