I'll probably add it next week sometime.
Overdue notice.

Give it the BFL-proverbial "two more weeks"? Tongue

Yeah, well, I'm gonna go build my own blockchain. With blackjack and hookers! In fact forget the blockchain.

I will give you another one in the pipeline  Grin

Here are my sources...

If you have not posted that addy elsewhere, it probably won't be accepted.

We don't actually accept the profile field address unless there's some sort of proof that it's remained unchanged, for that very reason.

I'm working on a new address-staking system which will automatically handle signatures, etc. Might have it ready by the end of the month if nothing else comes up to consume my time.
Do you have any updates about this one? Because it has been almost two months now and we haven't heard any official announcements from theymos about it yet (he didn't even made it official with a thread announcement). Coming from a private message from KWH it looks like theymos wants the development of this system on closed doors meaning the implementation of this new system might not be final yet as coming from his private message he might be busy as the news system implementation is already one month behind schedule.

It's obvious that theymos is far more busy than we actually can think of.

Theymos operates on a different plane of existence to us mere crypto peons where time has no meaning or two weeks means two years in
human terms. The new forum software was coming 'next year' which was said in 2014 I believe. I think there are much more important issues that need addressing/implementing right now than badges in my opinion. In fact, I think they're just causing much more work for staff at the minute as it's clear there are a few users who have gone crazy reporting any old sort of spam post they can find since these reporting badges were announced and I don't think that's a coincidence. I've suggested theymos add another report button for sig spam etc so the current report queue doesn't get clogged up with crap and buries more important issues that need urgently handling but that's likely just another suggestion that will end up on the scrap heap or on the things to do before the new millennium list.

That's all we wanted, isn't it? I understand the mods are having more workload than before. To keep the balance may be theymos can consider asking volunteers to help the mods if he does not want to hire more mod/s of course.

A good idea can be to reward with airdop merit the start of this thing, to reward users who reported.

No. This would then lead to abuse. People would just report loads of things for the merit and easily rank up their alts this way.

Merit itself is a kind of reward for quality posts. Reports are not related to posting. I don't think that it's correct to associate them in any way (all the more we already passed through it).

I did not consider in this way - there was a dialogue about the possibility or impossibility of implementing this without abuse.

Or make it not happen at all. Can you tell me exactly why you think this needs to happen at all?

As I wrote above-there was a proposal, I considered the practical possibility of its implementation without abuse. And that's all.

Is it really essential to report a spam post made in December buried in the first few pages of an Ann thread? Nope. Some people are clearly just looking for things to report and it's a waste of time for everyone right now. Report things that matter not anything and eveytthign just because it's going to get you a worthless badge. I've also suggested assigning more sub board mods and patrollers but my suggestions always fall on deaf ears.

Is it really essential to report a spam post made in December buried in the first few pages of an Ann thread?
No, absolutely it's not necessary, I did not thought about THAT though.

I have reported some spammy posts from a topic which was created on last October 30, 2017. I even created a topic yesterday to take care of it by mods if it's possible. Although the topic was created long ago but from last two days the topic started to push up by the spam bots (my guess). I am sure the case for the one I spotted and the one you spotted is not the same.

As I wrote above-there was a proposal, I considered the practical possibility of its implementation without abuse. And that's all.

You have already witnessed the result on here:
Really, gradually reducing for quite some time now I have stopped give merits for explanation of rules, who sends reports, because as a result I had concerns that this could not be used correctly and such way to receive merit would become too easy...

I have noticed him too. I can't take away merits so he remains with the same rights as well as other users.

And it's not that you were not aware of the topic. In fact you had your thoughts on that topic.  Grin

If there is some spam i also report it! When i started reporting i was looking at old threads too but after a few done i got a nice pm guess it was hilariousetc and there is no need for report old threads, thanks by the way to let me know!
This Info gets me on Focus on New threads!

Just wanted to say this

They do not violate the rules (place a link to the source of the news)

By placing the link they do not violate the rule about plagiarism (p.33), but not the rules in general. Any spam and low-value post violates the p.1. In fact there's no sense in posting such "news": they don't contain any "fresh" thoughts (nor thoughts at all) and their "authors" just intend to make as many posts as possible.

The fact that the users of the forum for "mythical icon" ready to do something useful (or useless) for the forum - it's not bad   Grin

Now seriously... Is it possible to channel this energy into something really necessary for the forum?

If it is possible - write:
"hi guys moderators would not refuse your help. Need to do:
1.....
2.....
3..... "

Based on the problems it can be done either on an open Board or on a hidden Board, discussed in another topic https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4854646.0

I think that I'm going to add some badges for people who report a bunch of posts. Maybe one for 300 good reports, one of 1000, and one for 5000. Does anyone want to make or find these images? They have to be exactly 16x16 px (like ), and if you find them online, then they must be copyright-free.

i will to suggest to use the rank title of England, look cool

https://i.imgur.com/A4X9meZ.jpg

font = old english
300 - BARON of BitCoinTalk
1000 - EARL of BitCoinTalk
5000 - DUKE of BitCoinTalk

also can add to more stage, like
BARON -> VISCOUNT -> EARL -> MARQUESS -> DUKE -> PRINCE -> KING

*using font only are lighter than a image

Merit for 300 or 500 good reports? Nah. It is an extremely bad idea. Abuse is kinda the best thing that all the spammer here can do to get the "easy money". The main reason why is because people can make a lot of accounts then do the abuse, and secondly is because the receiver of the merit will get half of the merits as their sMerit. Imagine if 1 people just abuse reports in 10 accounts, then :

1. It will only takes them to report 3000-5000 posts, which can be achieved in a short time, maybe 1-3 days, or for some that has the knowledge they can use bot.
2. Lets just say they will get "only" 1 airdrop merit per 300-500 reports = 10 merits
3. 10 merits going to main account, will make the main account get 5 sMerits
4. Then the main account will abuse those merits back and forth and will get 18 merits in total
5. Or he can sell it, because rumors say it is popular in this forum now.

snip.

Just sharing my idea related on your topic:

= this is for those who are making good quality post(well you won't get any if you are just posting not that bad post and not that good post, if you know what I mean)

= this is for those people who are just making shit post and spamming the forum(the deserve this mark)

Well as you can see, my simple idea to determine if you are a quality poster and shit poster is just this exclamation point with two colors, green and red.

Personally I dont like the use of "exclamation mark" as an icon for good quality posters. It just dont feel correct. But I like the idea, may be some other icon should work.
But again, there will be new logic implementations required to figure out the quality posters or shit posters.

EDIT: Meanwhile, I find myself eligible for 1st badge of 300 good reports  Grin

I don't think any member was awarded with this great new badges because I am eligible for the 1000+ reports badge and didn't receive any as you see.

Of course, I think this is a great idea and people who are working hard to keep this forum free of spam and abuse should be awarded for their efforts.

We know exactly how many hours we have sacrificed to report such amounts of spam.
