This year the price of bitcoin has dropped for a long time, and don't know how long bitcoin will be like this. I think this is a year of challenge from bitcoin, those who are strong will stay here and the weak will leave, this will be an option to determine the future.

well the drop stopped about 1.5 months ago so you already know how long it was like that!

what you can't know is whether the drops would start again and if price goes any lower. and that is where speculation comes in. my guess is that there is no reason for price to drop anymore and even if it does, it won't go any lower than previous low we had in June.

It’s not that challenging for bitcoin because there had been worst cases than this and I have read over the forum bitcoin had drops like 90% than the original price where it rolled back itself from $32 to $2. I think you should be happy wi5 the current situation as it is just ~40% drop and in that also it is the most costly coin over the blockchain. I’m sure any drop that you see now onwards will look like very tiny to you as the example I have given is far stronger to belive this stuff.

All is a test of wit for Bitcoin,  2018 isn't the worst, it's can only get better, we have seen that Bitcoin has a strong support at 6k plus,  I don't see it go down any further, but when it will rise back is what we are not sure off.  Maybe if SEC rules in favour of EFT.

I think it is about how smart someone is, a smart crypto trader must have sold off at high and presently would have been looking for a good way to buy back now that market is down. HODLing can a times be bad but for as long as those that sold off are crypto enthusiasts they still remain in the crypto world

Bitcoin has seen challenging time at the beginning of the year but I guess that is over now. With the ETF hearing soon and expecting that it might get the approval; we'll see large amount of investments getting into bitcoin which will drive the price higher. Although the price seems to fall now; I think it will get back up again soon.

I think that large investors expect the regulator, as something will be decided by law, will begin a gold rush for coins

The weak hand already left the market or are waiting on the sidelines.that is why we keep having a dip in price for every FUD or media critique

In actual fact, the challenges for this year has been enormous. The price has always been shaky since bitcoin hit its ATH in December. The expectation has not been meant at all.

Yes; it may lead to loss of some of its investors. Now we can't predict that if there will be any drops in the future. It is believed that in the future prices may increase but chances of drops are low. At least it will not be low as the month of June.

Certainly, this year have seen alot of downfalls in crypto, but the good news is that the market always bounces back. Am sure all those who persist in the time of difficult will always come out victorious because of their resilience.

The price of the BTC is not going good this year. Price has dropped for a long period of time . If this continuous the strong; loyal user will remain with BTC and the weak people will simply leave. The challenge is to hold the people who are about to leave and will have to assure them that the price will not drop anymore and won’t go lower than previous in June.

In situation like this,  I believe that this bear market for this year has many recurrence compared to last year.  However,  this fluctuations is not alarming since the market value may undergo correction wherein it will still regain the price before it dips but it took a while for such recovery. I think that bitcoin will continue to grow fhrther in the future and only time can tell when it will happen.

frankly, I do not think you'll fall any further than that. I think this number is the lower limit. Because if it falls under it, the costs will not be saved and serious damages will arise. hope will soon rise and the market will relax.

Right now this year yes this is the year of have big challenge because of drop or falling this is the first time of the year since bitcoin start  this year was continues falling and this is a challenge specially those investor and trader so keep faith that bitcoin will rise before the year end and always think positive always don't mine those people have negative thoughts about bitcoin.

2017 was a tremendous year for bitcoin but from the start of 2018it has faced many collapse. The price of bitcoin which was $20K in December 2017 has drastically come down to $5k. But in the last few days bitcoin has experienced a growth in price and it’s a big challenge for them to reach the price $20k again.

As I know bitcoin's uptrend on Nov-Dec 2017 because many people getting enthusiast on crypto and the timing of other government regulation about crypto also affect on their exposure !

Many Bitcoin supporters believe it will soon become a global currency. People can use it to buy sandwiches, scarves like bank cards. Few people think that it can happen soon. However, if this becomes a reality, this will be the end of the bitcoin price hike. Because to be used in payment, its price must be stable.

That's true based on price chart and history this is the hardest time for Bitcoin and we can only hope that it will be better before the year ends, so far 2017 was Bitcoin's banner year, and people are having a second thought if Bitcoin will have a good year this year.

I think 2018 is not a bad year for bitcoin. Why do not we have more positive thoughts than 2017 bitcoin has gone up too fast. This is the standard price of bitcoin.

Huh, I'm guessing you're new to the cryptocurrency market. Or you just weren't taking stock. Bitcoin has actually seen more devastating times. At such times, many speculators and observers were very confident that it will not recover. And they sure were wrong. I agree that only the strong stubborn investors will remain in times like this. I believe Bitcoin will only grow more and more in value. Only the resilient will enjoy the profit then.

It is too early to sum up the year. I think the growth of bitcoin will begin in the autumn and at the end of the year we will be surprised.

What do you mean a challenge? Bitcoin has seen worst, although most of us was not still in the market when the market crashes in 2013-2014. But it proved has it is so resilient with this kind of situation. All we can do is wait and have patience before we can finally see some semblance of recovery. That's how the game is being played right now, if you are weak and can't stomach what's happening more than half of 2018 then you should really leave. Its not for the weak of heart.

This is a vicious cycle in bitcoin. Every time it hits a new all time high, it dumps the price by more than 50%. But I do not see the price right now as bad. Actually, if you compare the price last year, the same month, it is still in positive. Those who says the current price is bad has not been here when the price was just in hundreds. I see the price still above 6K, I am happy even it is a bear month or year. I know at one point it will turn around and it will be bull again.

Even though a lot of people lost their investment capital due to the drop, I think it is a very good thing it happened. The price should be real, established by people who understand what blockchain is, not just want to invest to become rich. The current price is what bitcoin community mainly believes in and the fact that some small good and bad new cause 20% increases and decreases only proves it. Once more people get to know this technology for real, the price can go up to $20k, but this time without going down when some half-fake news about govs banning ICOs occur.   I think This year Bitcoin has been a challenging year  since  2018 till now the price of Bitcoin is decreasing showing no traces as previous year increase . So due to this depreciation of price we can guess that the weak will be leaving and the strong will be there to determine the future of Bitcoin. I am very interested in bitcoin prices before the SEC date. This may cause it to be rejected @@ in the period from June to now my property number has lost about 50%! I still think bitcoin is a promising land but should be released temporarily to preserve money waiting for price stabilization and buy back.

this year is more like the year of opportunity for all those who missed the chance to buy bitcoin because of the fast rise to the moon. the market has given them a great deal to get back on board of bitcoin before it rises back up.

Bitcoin price is down since 8 months but in July we see little uptrend now again market near $6500.this is battle between strong and weak holders also many smart trader making profit from small pump & dump because they are using support and resistance strategy. In upcoming months we can see good hike of bitcoin if ETF happen successfully.

Sometimes things go up, sometimes things go down. This is how everything behaves in real life. Bitcoin is taking it's first solid dose of reality here as it normalizes. Statisticians call this regression to the norm. After something does really well, its performance decreases for a time. After something does really badly, its performance increases for a time.

I feel like the challenging period for Bitcoin was from January 2018 to May 2018. Now; Bitcoin prices are looking pretty good to me; though there has been a fall in price recently still it has managed to recover quickly. Hopefully; in coming days it will again reach new heights.

Bitcoin is quite stable now and hovering around the support of 7;500$ to 7;800$. Definitely; it has been a challenging year for Bitcoin after dropping from 20;000$ mark last year but to be honest; it has recovered quite well and still recovering as I am typing this sentence. i personally think its just finding their equilibrium state of value. Last year is just a party/bubble for cryptos. You wont see btc value to increase or decrease significantly after their has reached their actual value. But dont worry that btc will going to moon given their reserves and more people to get in touch with crypto every year.

In recent time bitcoin is not in a good position because this coins price falls down. It’s not a good sign for this project and i think it will be the challenge for bitcoin in 2018.hope price will rise again.

If we look at the past few years record of bitcoin then we can see that bitcoin goes up and then down and then again goes up. It is a common tendency for bitcoin. So; for those who invests in bitcoin should know this. They should invest while the price is down and sell those when the price is high again which is more likely to happen anytime soon. Yes it is true that it was quite challenging for the bitcoin users for last several months but now the price of it is quite stable which is good. In that time many people quit on bitcoin but those who believe in it thus hold it and now they get profited.

This year was tough for BTC. It was in a constant dip for a very long time this year; but it finally recovered. Then again faced a fall but it got right back on track after a couple of weeks later. So; this year was challenging for the coin. Let's hope the tough times ends for this coin and better times will emerge.

I agree with you, this past week all crypto experienced a very drastic decline, including bitcoin, if I still survive for bitcoin. Hopefully bitcoin will return to its position again.

This year is hard for bitcoin and others crypto price. Most of coin/token price drop more  than 70% from highest. If you have BTC, I would hold what you have. But I would find other cryptos to invest new money in. Simply because lightning network needs another 3-5 years of development. That’s a long time for the world to wait, there’s a good chance something will replace BTC. You have to do your own research to determine that it’s OMG. ;).

I totally agree with your opinion that this year is a year of challenge for bitcoin all have experienced price reductions this year, but I am still optimistic that bitcoin will go through all this year if you have a lot of bitcoin it is better to save bitcoin is to wait for the return of bitcoin prices already stable then sell it, and if you also have a lot of money the best choice is to invest in bitcoin both long and short term because bitcoin will be stable usually at the end of the year or also in early 2019.

If we have critically studied btc market  for because there have been serious market process and yet still bitcoin mamnage to go through. If you take a look at the price of Bitcoin exactly one year ago 08/13/2017 the price was $4043.22 so we are still up. Many weak hands already left because their holdings got wiped out. Make a decision, stay the course and drown out the noise. If you do fall flat on your face you go back and learn from your mistakes.

I can see challenges that bitcoin meets this year 2018 and this challenge made some of the investors, traders, and bitcoin enthusiast in panic mode. As of now bitcoin slips down or drops its price, however i think this is just a normal scenario for bitcoin, i also think that there is time to comeback by bitcoin, since its price rises annually.

Pioner Bitcoin investor will not panic since they already made tons of cash in selling their Bitcoin that they bought at really cheap price. Yes, Bitcoin price dipping is normal. This is the time where new investor will have the chance to buy at a lower price. I am sure Bitcoin will rise this year, possibilities is high because of the acceptance of Bitcoin and those panic sellers will rebuy again in the future.

Its really bad year for bitcoin so far the bearish runs was overwhelming but we shouldn't write it off  yet we have Q4 up front and let us wait and see whether there is going to be replica of what happened in the Q4 last year when the price of btc reached a new ATH although there are many obstacles in form of regulations, bans etc to scale through nevertheless I foresee a bounce back.

Naturally correct, because people who want free money were never needed and it takes a long wait before they get rewarded for their patience.
I've had many coins before but I didn't conduct the amount of patience it needed before I get rewarded for my wait. Had nearly 1 BTC at a time when BTC was $6k and I thought it was its peak, so sold it completely and the same year, it went above $18k and even reached $20k later on. And when it wasn't needed to wait, I waited for longer (in these bearish times) and got defeated by the markets making me lose more than 1 full BTC. It's good to wait yet as I believe BTC has not met its bottom for this year yet, and so it will hammer (crash) alts too very hardly, so as to give us the ability to buy back our favorite tokens and even BTC at dirt-cheap prices.

Yes mate, this year is the biggest dump of bitcoin and many people now go cut their losses and find another coin to invest. But many are still here right mow because of believing into bitcoin. Slowly gaining higher price makes us happy and as what i have seen, the drop of price right now is a little bit lower compared to last few months

If you analyze closely, you may see that Bitcoin crashed from $1250 (2013-14's biggest pump before 2017-18) to $250 that totals it to 5x down from its all time high, you may see that $20k was the new ATH and we're probably heading to $4k as the new low before we start for a hunt of new ATH (soon). Till then, the quest for the most strong holders continues...
I think people are panicking too much over governments' and banking institutions' statements. Currently, Jamie Dimon (the infamous critic of crypto and esp., Bitcoins) gave a statement doubling down on "Bitcoins' ponzi scam". I believe that such incidents have a correlation with what's currently going on in crypto. These people are creating a chaos here, making people panic and sell under the pressure that such statements are being publicized at a very big scale. This is a scheme of making rich more richer and let the poor ones remain poor or go more poorer.

Even the most competent market analysts can not make an accurate price forecast. In the future, we can see that bitcoin will surpass the market capitalization of gold and become the dominant reserve currency, or we will see the collapse and bans, witnessing the most brutal state crises.

Bitcoin will persist as long as a few Bitcoin-based computers remain active on the network. Only a radical scenario can lead to the end of Bitcoin. It seems to me that the challenge of bitcoin in 2018 is the market price because as of now, the bitcoin price is still low and suddenly rise for a while and then down fall again. Yes the strong is the one who aare patient to wait to the price to rise again and the weak is the people who can not wait and sell of there bitcoin because they are afraid that bitcoin can not recover again.

Sooner or later when we look back to the topics like this, the scenario seems to be changed completely. Where here we were discussing about the dump, at the same time bitcoin spiked to 8.5K USD and by the time there was sunset things gotten changed adversely and now again bitcoin is dumping to the new low and making things even worst than earlier. Well worst for those who are very much panicked about their investment. This year is really challenging for now and looks like this challenge may have amazing outputs in the months to come. Indeed bitcoin fall has been a challenge for new investors in 2018. Their hopes and expectations have not been met this year. Well, it hasn't been easy for crypto this year and my major surprise was the 2nd drop in Btc this year after it went up following the long drop in value. I personally thought the value was never going to fall again for this year but there was a sudden turn again.

I am agree with you. At the first of 2018 i saw many investors are entering in BTC. But after a big dump many are leaving crypto with huge loss. So new investors are afraid of entering in  it. This is a big challenge for BTC to get back the new investors.

Yes,  this is the major challenge needs to be done. Base on the crowd - they said that bitcoin will colapse this year and I don't  want to believe neither.

The only challenge I see is the reputation we had built since last year. It has been bad ever since that fall from $20,000 to $5,500. But at least Bitcoin has bounce back at least a little bit even though we've suffered hard lost. We can expect bull run this September. Let's just hope.

I think that is not what you call challenges, it's difficult for someone who don't have a daily job, yes maybe some of us will not stay, and they will coming when the price will rise again.

Yes, this year has been more of bearish than bullish. Every one's expectation has been shortened by this unforeseen price. Where I work only very few us are still reporting to see what we can do. The market bleeding day in day out is not encouraging any person to continue any further effort on the crypto currency business.                                                                                                                 

Honestly, I do not think you'll fall further. I think that this number is the lower limit. Because if it falls under it, the costs will not be saved and serious losses will occur. If it is continuous, strong; a loyal user will stay with the BTC, and weak people will simply leave. The challenge is to keep people who are going to leave, and they will have to assure them that the price will not drop more and will not be lower than in June.

As we can see prices of bitcoin and altcoins in the market goes red, for the buyers for investment, they are glad about this because they can buy it in a minimun price amount and then sell it in the profitable time. As for the holders, they are not happy about this since the prices are going down.

The most challenging challenge of bitcoin in 2018 is because bitcoin has never shown its innovation in technology so that bitcoin technology has become increasingly backward from some other crypto currencies. The loss of public trust is evident from many bitcoin owners who sell their bitcoin on a large scale because they do not believe in the future of bitcoin. I never really thought of it that the current situation is a challenge from bitcoin and not a challenge for bitcoin.  It's like turning the table around and warning people that should they decide to leave bitcoin it's their loss.

But i don't think that this is the case. Primarily, bitcoin needs people (investors).  Bitcoin can never stand strong without investor's muscles. Bitcoin can never threaten people and say that i am only challenging you, leave and you loss, stay and you gain. In fact, bitcoin is continually improving itself so more people will adapt to it.

So my apologies, but i don't think that what we are facing right now is a challenge from bitcoin rather, a part of price normalization.

I wake up this morning to headlines of "Crypto crash greater than dot-com crash!" Then look at BTC and it is barely changed. The press is employing scare tactics against BTC by using "crypto" as an analog, which it ain't. I do not believe this is not intentional.

i think the headlines refer to bitcoin for all of 2018. if you ONLY look at 2018, sure... bitcoin has lost 70+% of its value.

but... zoom out and from 2011-2017, and you'll see its doing great.

I guess those writing headlines only want to look at the performance this year.

These articles want clicks because visits = $, simple as that. The more dramatic the headline, the more likely they get a click which increases revenue from CPM ads and potential additional clicks on PPC ads. That's not to say the articles are always inaccurate, but how they spin the information is usually with the purpose of pushing their own agenda.

People is wise for now it is stragegy to.buy bitcoin now and hold it and wait for the rise up . People is about investing in bitcoin why ? Yes, it is. Too much of investment are loss. Companies are looking for another coins and tokens to invest to and to many traders used to panic sell because of the drop. As this red days going on too many of the traders used t hold their coin by chance that their coin and token will increase someday while the other panic sale their coin because they were afraid to loss so much of money. Truly not everyday is pay day.

Bitcoin is still up considerably from it's price at the start of 2017. If you were rash enough to buy when it was almost $20,000 then yes you have had a very bad year, on the other hand if you bought at the beginning of 2017 when it was at $1,000 then you have made a tidy profit-it's all relative.

This year is probably the worst bitcoin value reduction by percentage. I think this year is a year that has a challenge because bitcoin has fallen. This is the first time this year since bitcoin began to fall this year and this is a special challenge for investors and traders to remain confident. that bitcoin will rise before the end of the year and always think positively. don't panic or lose hope. will definitely survive this year.

In my opinion it’s not a challenge from bitcoin, it’s normal where the price have risen for 2 years and certainly will not rise continuously, everything has the time where in the past few years its price was rising and maybe for the time being its price is going down to normalize it where there will be new investors joining into bitcoin investment because the price dropping and there are some other investors who panicked to sell bitcoin because of fear that it will go down even further.
